* AdaptationDisplacement: Not many Australians born after the mid-1980s knew that the song actually ''preceded'' the television show (by 25 years!) and was not written specifically for it.
** Or that the Banana toy featured on Series/PlaySchool was around well before the show, and wasn't just a piece of TheMerch that the show later spawned.
** Or that there was even a series of picture books published in TheEighties that not only featured ''many'' Bananas and the Teddies, but [[SublimeRhyme Beans in Jeans, Zucchinis in Bikinis]] and other such creatures.
** The 1979 animated short [[SubvertedTrope subverts]] this. While it has been screened sporadically on Series/PlaySchool for over 3 decades (even during the run of the live-action adaptation), many toddlers would naturally think that the short was somehow inspired by the live-action series and not created before then. However, to the eyes of a preteen and older, it's plain to see in comparison to other animated shows on television nowadays that it was obviously created a long time ago.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: Filipino kids loved this show that they even had licensed notebooks featuring the characters. It was also very successful in Brazil and Thailand during the late 90s.
* HarsherInHindsight: [=MetroVision=] Malaysia's airing of the show was sponsored by BP. Process that piece of thought for a bit.
* HilariousInHindsight: ''Lulu's Magic''. Several years down the road, ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'' was released- which had a black mage named Lulu.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: In regards to the 2011 reboot, ''big time''. One {{Website/Facebook}} page calling for the new series to be canned managed to amass a whopping 50,000 "likes".
* UnintentionalUncannyValley: Some might say the old series fell into this trope, but the ''new'' bananas have lips... and teeth... and ''eyebrows''. Not to mention Rat looks completely different from his earlier incarnation.
