* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** Vera and Lombard's relationship. Was there some genuine affection on either or both of their parts, or were they just manipulating each other's sympathies for their own ends? Was Lombard's pleading for Vera to trust his belief that the murderer was neither one of them sincere or was he just trying to save his own skin? spoiler:Furthermore, was Vera's proposal to Wargrave to frame Lombard for the murders simply the desperate plea of a woman searching for any way to persuade Wargrave not to kill her or the conniving words of a ManipulativeBitch who had never truly loved Lombard?
** In the book, Hugo told Wargrave about what happened with Vera while DrowningMySorrows. In the miniseries, we don't have any evidence that he turned to alcohol after the inquest. So did he tell Wargrave what happened in the hopes that the judge could bring justice for his nephew?
* CatharsisFactor: [[spoiler:Wargrave leaving Vera to die becomes this after we see that she did murder Cyril in a cold, calculated fashion: by telling him to swim for the farthest rock, and then languishing on the sand happily waiting. As Hugo points out, with Cyril's weak lungs and Vera's athleticism, he knew that Cyril couldn't have outrun or outswam her, and if he could prove it, he would make sure that Vera would be hanged. Well, Wargrave managed to avenge Cyril.]]
* MagnificentBastard: "U.N. Owen", true identity [[spoiler:Justice Lawrence Wargrave, lures 9 guilty parties to Soldier Island with intent to eliminate them according to his own macabre sense of humor and justice. A consummate sadist since youth, Wargrave maintains a sense of humor and justice, reserving the worst fates for the most morally depraved of the group, faking his own death by convincing the only doctor to assist him before eliminating the man to hold his cover. Wargrave proceeds to kill all the others, saving Vera Claythorne for last due to her murder of a little boy under her care, waiting until it is impossible for her to escape and detailing his plans before he allows her to hang and promptly commits suicide to create the ultimate mystery that no one will ever solve]].
* Narm: 's death - not in how it's portrayed, which is rather frightening, but when you realize what actually happens there. Instead of having a marble clock shaped like a bear dropped on his head, is stabbed to death with a carving knife while the killer apparently wears a polar bear rug like a poncho! Regardless of whether the killer could actually see out the open mouth, without the blurry-edged screen that implies that thinks he's hallucinating it would look utterly ridiculous.
* ParanoiaFuel: Lombard's flashback to his crime shows he wasn't alone when he did it; he was the leader of a four or five-man team. Lombard even Lampshades this as to how the story got to U. N. Owen, saying 'it's amazing how people have an attack of conscience once they're home safe' (approx). What happened to the other men who participated?
* RetroactiveRecognition: Fans of Creator/MischiefTheatre will recognise Isaac Morris's non-speaking secretary Audrey as Charlie Russell a.k.a. Sandra in Theatre/ThePlayThatGoesWrong, Series/TheGoesWrongShow, and more.
