* EnsembleDarkhorse: Pretty much everyone to some degree besides Petra, James and Zimit, but particularly Chips, Jack and Andy.
* PeripheryDemographic: The entire mental exercise and Mr. Zimit antics are eerily similar to that of a KillerGM, {{Railroading}} the whole party into doing what he wants and killing them all off the second his scenario goes OffTheRails, while the students are desperately trying to use every loophole they can to keep going and hope for a win. Which (unsuprisingly) makes the film popular within TabletopRPG crowd.
* RomanticPlotTumor: A rather nasty case, as it comes out of the blue and dominates over the final act, leading directly to EndingFatigue - the class and the exercise is over, while ten minutes of running time still remain.
* {{Squick}}: Once you realise [[spoiler: the whole exercise is a massive set-up by Zimit and he had a romance with Petra]], the second scenario becomes this. All elements are arranged in such fashion that his character will [[spoiler: be matched with Petra's to keep trying to make a baby together. To make it crystal clear: he sets up the whole damn exercise just to have virtual sex with the student that broke off with him]]. And she's aware this is all made on purpose.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The film's advertised setup is a group of philosophy students debating who are best suited to survive an apocalypse and rebuild. Unfortunately it's a bad-faith premise since the teacher has an underhanded objective to target a particular student and show off how effective his own reasoning is. He sabotages each scenario with WordOfGod and RocksFallEveryoneDies, rendering the students' discussion largely pointless. The film's true plot about the love triangle and intellectual struggle between Zimit and Petra is worthwhile, but it undercuts the advertised premise entirely.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotPolitical: Go to just about any internet forum where discussion about the movie took place. Or even comment sections for it. People are going to argue about the political value and[=/=]or political correctness of Petra's choice in the third scenario and nothing else, completely ignoring the fact she made them ''to spite Zimit'' and how her goal is to ''fail on purpose''.
