Others are happy to get more ''Equestria Girls'' content outside of the infrequent longer TV specials and like the series for being short and light fun. Then there's detractors who point to the weaker elements of the digital series as proof that there isn't enough to ''Equestria Girls'' to make it a full spin-off show and its best kept to the specials and [=YouTube=] shorts.

17	* NightmareFuel: In "My Little Shop of Horrors", magic enchants a watering can Twilight brought and all the plants she waters with it grow bigger and gain the ability to sing with her. Starts out nice, right? Well, the plants keep getting bigger and bigger until they start becoming sentient and more human-like in appearance, even gaining individualized voices and a craving for more of the enchanted water. They want Twilight to keep watering them so they'll continue to grow and by the end, they're all fighting to take the watering can from Twilight and each other. If Applejack hadn't come to the rescue, who knows what the plants would have done to Twilight and Spike?
18	** It gets worse if you've seen "[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyAndFriends Fugitive Flowers]]". These are G4's answer to the Flories.
19	* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: While he has slowly become more accepted by fans thanks to ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsLegendOfEverfree'' and the "[[WebAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsSummertimeShorts Good Vibes]]" music video, Flash Sentry's redesign, especially his neater hairstyle, has won over a lot of fans. Not to mention the "Cheer You On" video.
20	* RonTheDeathEater: While Timber shrieking and cowering behind Twilight when he thinks a sea monster is surfacing in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsUnsolvedSelfieMysteries Unsolved Selfie Mysteries]]" is meant to be humorous, some ([[DieForOurShip especially those who hate his relationship with Twilight]]) perceive it as a lifeguard willing to let beach-goers, including his own girlfriend, fall prey to a monster to save his own skin. Others are gladly taking screenshots of the short out of context to assume Twilight is having a negative reaction to Timber's presence, even though she never expresses anything even close to that.
21	* {{Squick}}: In "Turf War", Applejack catches the top scoop in a woman's ice cream cone with her hat, then puts the scoop back on top, with it still having some of Applejack's loose hair stuck in it.
22	* TakeThatScrappy: Or at least "Take That, BaseBreakingCharacter!" Timber Spruce in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsUnsolvedSelfieMysteries Unsolved Selfie Mysteries]]" ScreamsLikeALittleGirl at the idea of a seas monster coming onshore, and hides behind Twilight despite being the lifeguard on duty. Then when it turns out there is no monster he just whistles in embarrassment while Twilight gives him an unamused look for using her as a HumanShield.
23	* UnfortunateCharacterDesign: Prim Hemline, with her dark grey skin and bright red lipstick, looks similar to a {{blackface}} caricature.
24	* UnexpectedCharacter: Prim Hemline and Zephyr Breeze are getting human counterparts, and those are just the ones we ''know'' are appearing. Who knows what other ponies will be appearing as humans?
