* CatharsisFactor: Tolkien giving Cartman three clearly hard-hitting blows to the face, topped off by Butters farting on him and giving him the finger shortly afterwards, is satisfying to watch considering the shit Cartman put the both of them through.
* CrossesTheLineTwice:
** Cartman tells Tolkien that he's a natural-born bass player based solely on the fact he's black. What annoys Tolkien is that Cartman is right about him.
** Cartman screaming "FUCK JESUS!" after losing his bet with Kyle, ''horrible''. But the audience's ComicalOverreacting, ''hilarious''.
-->'''Bystander:''' Aghh! My ears are bleeding!
* HarsherInHindsight:
** The part when the boys illegally download songs and a SWAT team comes bursting in. This was thought to be ridiculous until 2012, when file hosting service site Megaupload had their offices raided when the owners were alleged to have committed copyright infringement.
** The unfortunate rise in Swatting incidents has made the aforementioned SWAT team scene even more uncomfortable. [[note]]"Swatting" is when somebody calls authorities to send armed Swat teams to someone they know has done nothing wrong, yet do so [[ForTheEvulz for their own sadistic pleasure]]. Since Swat has orders to shoot armed opponents, it could get especially bad if, for example, they were sent to a ''gaming'' livestream, since controllers can look dangerous from afar; in fact, at least one person actually was outright killed by a swatting attempt. The worst part is that [[KarmaHoudini Swatters can stay incognito and get away with it.]][[/note]]
** Cartman mutters that one of these days he's going to kill Tolkien. In "World War Zimmerman" he almost makes good on this threat.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: For the first time, Butters finally has enough of Cartman, flips him off, delivers a PrecisionFStrike, and leaves him to [[LaserGuidedKarma wallow in the mess he made]], albeit all with some meek reluctance. While there would be plenty of later episodes where Butters is too afraid to stand up to Cartman, the ending of the "Return of COVID" special (which takes place at the end of the ''South Park'' timeline) has Butters respond to Cartman's behaviour the same way as he does in this episode. As such, not only did Butters have it in him to [[TheDogBitesBack stand up to Cartman all along]], but [[EarnYourHappyEnding by the chronological end of the series, Butters will never have to worry about being under Cartman's thumb ever again]], and it all started with Butters' actions in this episode.
* InformedWrongness: Cartman. Yes, it's true that he only cares about winning his bet against Kyle, and that he did some questionable things in order to sell records. But he still made one million legitimate record sales, and he should have gotten a Platinum Record (and would have in real life, but doesn't, entirely because of ArtisticLicense). Overall, his comeuppance, while still deserved due to the sheer pettiness on his part, feels much more contrived and artificial compared to most episodes.
