''[[https://www.webtoons.com/en/comedy/adventures-of-god/list?title_no=853&page=1 Adventures of God]]'' is a comedy webcomic hosted on webtoons.com that began in late 2016. It is updated every Tuesday and Saturday. The story follows God, who is an AlcoholicParent to Jesus, along with a bunch of other kooky characters from Literature/TheBible.
----
!!''Adventures of God'' contains examples of:

* TheAlcoholic: God seems to be drunk in 95% of His appearances.
** AlcoholicParent: Comedic example. He's Jesus' father.
* ArchangelGabriel: Although he’s only ever referred to as Gabe, he’s God's loyal assistant (and the real heavy lifter here). He’s shown to be directly responsible for animal creation and ensuring the universe works smoothly. Interestingly, unlike the dead souls, he’s never depicted with wings despite being an archangel.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: After watching a dystopian movie about Earth ravaged by Climate Change and the rich leaving the poor behind, God asks if that was what Jesus meant by 'the meek will inherit the Earth.' The question leaves Jesus drowning his sorrows.
* BaitAndSwitch: A common gag.
** We are led to believe that a mysterious, secret cult is summoning Satan…[[https://m.webtoons.com/en/comedy/adventures-of-god/ep-27-summoned/viewer?title_no=853&episode_no=27 only to find]] [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior four young girls]] who ''really'' want tickets to ''[[WesternAnimation/{{Frozen2013}} Fairy Princess on Ice]]''.
** A young couple is concerned whether they should make love in a setup that makes them look like the stereotypical concerned Christian newylweds and ask Jesus for advice, at which point he gets frustrated and just says that they deserve privacy. As it turns out, they're furries. Even Jesus is a little shocked.
** In Episode 38, Gabe and God visit various alternate universes, concluding in one where "a reality TV star rules the free world". God immediately leaves in disgust, stating it's their own…only for the next camera to reveal President [[spoiler: Kardashian]].
* BeleagueredAssistant: Gabe, big time. For all his hard work and great ideas, he’s either denied credit or given even more work. He’s also disillusioned with humans due to their neglect of nature (and thus his precious creations), but for the most part, he’s forced to sit back and watch.
* BerserkButton: For Gabe, it's bees. They need to be ''protected'', damn it!
* BlackComedy: In ''spades'' throughout the series.
* BlandNameProduct: Common throughout the comic. Rather than go the BrandX route, the authors decided to spoof every brand they mention in the comic.
* CaptainErsatz: [[https://www.webtoons.com/en/comedy/adventures-of-god/ep-680-coexist/viewer?title_no=853&episode_no=680 The final panel of Episode 680]] has God suggest to Gabe that they play something that is titled very similarly to ''{{VideoGame/Deep Rock Galactic}}'', which Gabe responds with a slogan that is synonyms of the game's "Rock and Stone!" CatchPhrase.
* CatsAreMean: Cats in this comic go to hell and are the only animals to do so. Not because they were evil, but because they enjoy watching humans being tortured.
* CelibateHero: Jesus is portrayed as disinterested in all matters related to sex and sexual attraction, to the point that he turns down many women who "save [themselves]" for him.
* ContinuityNod: Several. Notably, when he and his little helpers are given raisins by a woman while trick-or-treating, Lucy mentions that there's a special place in hell for her. Later on, she shows up in hell.
** An early example comes when a singer thanks God for [[https://m.webtoons.com/en/comedy/adventures-of-god/ep-5-when-you-thank-god/viewer?title_no=853&episode_no=5 having her back during hard times]] when she wins a Grammy. A later newspaper shows her picture with the headline that she has "fallen on hard times".
** When God visits Dorothy in Limbo, an atheist from an earlier episode who's gone there can be seen snoring on the couch.
** In one that takes ''hundreds'' of strips to fulfill, the young girl named Ashley who [[https://m.webtoons.com/en/comedy/adventures-of-god/ep-41-ashleys-cat/viewer?title_no=853&episode_no=41 initially prays to find out how her cat is doing in Heaven]] and receives a letter back from Hell [[https://m.webtoons.com/en/comedy/adventures-of-god/ep-484-new-old-girl-part-1/viewer?title_no=853&episode_no=484 ends up meeting and befriending Satan’s Little Helpers.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Lucy is horrified when he realizes that Santa's Elves are working in inhumane conditions in order to keep up demand in making toys for Christmas. He also displays horror at some of Ebag’s worse punishment ideas.
* EvilLawyerJoke: After God realizes that He won't be sued for some surgical complications and thus doesn't need any lawyers after all, He tells them that they can go. All three can be seen leaving for Hell.
* FictionalCounterpart: Everywhere in ''Adventures of God'', from Doom (Zoom) to [=ButtFeed=] ([=BuzzFeed=]). Remarkably, even ''song lyrics'' get this treatment, often with humorous results.
* FireAndBrimstoneHell: Complete with lava rivers (and a skating rink)!
* FireForgedFriends: Invoked by God between [[https://m.webtoons.com/en/comedy/adventures-of-god/ep-529-not-the-enemy/viewer?title_no=853&episode_no=529 a soldier on one side of a war and his killer on the other side]] (implied to be [[UsefulNotes/{{Ukraine}} Ukrainian and Russian]], respectively). He interrupts a speech from Jesus - about the real enemy being the second one's political leader - to send them to Hell so they can throw tomatoes at said leader together.
* FlamingDevil: Lucifer is often called Lucy by God, and is gay.
* GodIsFlawed: God is portrayed as TheDitz who’s an alcoholic, forgetful and has quite the temper but can be caring when he’s in the mood to be and believes in the good of humanity.
* TheGhost: Mary, who’s mentioned frequently but never outright portrayed. Everyone, including God and Satan, is hesitant to discuss what happened to her.
* HeteronormativeCrusader: Comically subverted by God, who only sends gay men to Hell to play TheMatchmaker to [[FlamingDevil Lucifer]]. Lucy, for his part, [[spoiler:marries one and sets up a gay bar for the rest rather than torturing them]].
* HighTechHeaven: God can be seen using a desktop computer, while his second in command, [[ArchangelGabriel Gabe]], apparently uses a complex server network to control the universe.
* HyperCompetentSidekick: Gabe, without a doubt. Although God gives the orders, Gabe is the only one capable of carrying out God's extremely confusing orders (and of course, he receives no credit). While he’s also subject to unreasonable whims, he’s far less susceptible than God, often having to stop Him from carrying them out. In addition, he’s constantly inventing new systems to make things more streamlined in Heaven and is responsible for the coding of the Universe. One strip even shows that a simple error in his code (and the ensuing correction) makes the difference of whether or not God exists.
** Ebag, as suggested by his name, is the exact opposite of Gabe, engineering punishments rather than creations. He happens to excel at this, while Lucifer, his boss, is less concerned with punishment and more concerned with making Hell a better place. In this way, he’s largely responsible for the more, well, hellish aspects of Hell.
* JesusWasWayCool: Unusual example. While Jesus is the most straightlaced recurring character in the work and probably not as fun to hang out with as some other examples of this trope, he's also portrayed as a genuinely good, loving figure who has helpful advice.
* LikeAnOldMarriedCouple: Episode 680 has a woman suffering a CrisisOfFaith as to whether religion and science can co-exist. God and Gabe show up to help and respectively personify the concepts, but just proceed to bicker and cause further anxiety to the woman. Jesus helps her by asking if she's married (she has been to her husband for twenty years), and then asks if their arguing seems familiar. She understands immediately and has no issue reconciling religion and science.
* LoopholeAbuse: Episode #11 portrays the Christian idea of forgiveness as this. "Gregory the Axe Murderer" repents and is allowed to go to heaven due to the clause about those who repent being forgiven.
* TheMatchmaker: The real reason (some) gay people are sent to hell is that [[https://m.webtoons.com/en/comedy/adventures-of-god/ep-3-why-he-went-to-hell/viewer?title_no=853&episode_no=3 God is trying to set Lucy up.]] [[spoiler:He marries one.]]
** Also, a priest in Episode 474. God ''himself'' compliments him on his matchmaking skills.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Seems to be another staple of ''Adventures of God'' along with BlandNameProduct. No celebrity is ever mentioned by their full name, with the comic instead referring to a SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute with a similar name. [[Creator/{{Ewan McGregor}} Euan McGreg]] and [[Music/{{Kanye West}} Lanyard East]] are only the tip of the iceberg. That said, other celebrities referred to only by a single name, such as [[spoiler:Kim]] Kardashian or Jennie from Music/{{Blackpink}}, seem to be exempt from this rule.
* NotAllowedToGrowUp: [[TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior Satan's Little Helpers.]] Despite the comic having some continuity and some time having passed in-universe, they never seem to grow much older at all.
* OnlySaneMan: Jesus, who frequently talks God and Gabe out of their more extreme actions.
* PaperThinDisguise: Gee, I wonder who ''Dr. Lucien'' from Morning Star University is?
** God in his red shirt and blue baseball cap also qualifies as this. He will also occasionally don a wig for purposes of disguise.
** Ebag’s human disguise is no different from his normal outfit, down to the socks with flip-flops.
* PurgatoryAndLimbo: Limbo is [[https://m.webtoons.com/en/comedy/adventures-of-god/ep-4-why-he-went-to-limbo/viewer?title_no=853&episode_no=4 portrayed as a boring waiting room]] with mediocre food and a receptionist. Virtuous atheists are sent here until the Pope allows atheists to go to Heaven, which allows Limbo to be closed forever and its inhabitants sorted. Purgatory is even worse at first, being a blank, nondescript room with a desk, a chair, and an extremely bored worker named Bub. Unlike in [[Literature/{{TheBible}} traditional works]], it’s simply a place for souls to be judged and then promptly admitted into Heaven or Hell. Purgatory later moves to [[DesertedIsland a remote tropical island with unlimited drinks.]]
* RunningGag: Winrar. Pirating Winrar is often brought up as a major sin. Notably, it’s referred to by its actual name rather than most other brands, which are given the BlandNameProduct treatment.
** Several episodes follow the plot of a character causing massive chaos in some way only for the episode to be revealed to [[AllJustADream have been a dream.]]
* SatanIsGood: Lucy is portrayed as a role-model to his cult who does his job devotedly and genuinely wants to improve Hell as an environment, providing entertainment and purpose to the damned souls. He’s also shown to be a [[spoiler:good husband.]]
* TheReveal: Two episodes have, by varying definitions of the term, revealed ''the meaning of life:''
** Episode 565 reveals that the reason life was created was [[spoiler:so God's ideal TV show would exist, which required, among other things, the existence of [[Series/DesperateHousewives desperation, houses and wives]].]]
** In Episode 621, it's revealed that God's intended life goal for all human beings is [[spoiler:eating pizza rolls.]]
