''I'm Lee. I made this channel to keep you guys informed of some strange things happening in my house. Having people to show it to makes me feel a bit more secure, you know? I'll do my best to keep you guys up to date whenever I find something out.''

After hearing some scratching noises against his door and unintelligible but human-like whispers from his attic, Lee decides to hire an exterminator to see if there is some feral creature hiding in his house. However, upon seeing his attic, said exterminator left the house immediately, stating that he did not find anything except a large hole and expressing the possibility of it being a possum. Things get [[FromBadToWorse from bad to worse]].

An ARG that focuses are the more well-known creepypasta of a creature called "Literature/TheRake", but has also, on occasion, featured [[Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos a tall man in a suit]].

!! This story provides examples of:
* AlwaysABiggerFish: When The Family has surrounded Lee, Mo, and Story and is about to kill them, the Slender Man steps in and teleports Lee, Mo, and Story away and kills several members of The Family in warning that they are not to mess with Story. Basically, Lee and Mo are saved by accidentally inciting an eldritch MobWar.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Rather understandably, after Lee was tortured by The Family, he's a lot harder and less reluctant about violence and very nearly directly tortures Shiny [[spoiler:/ Sean]] until he realizes nothing he could do is as torturous to Shiny as being deprived of The Speaker's voice -- then just leaves Shiny in the basement to suffer from the withdrawal with the knowledge that no one is coming to save him. And as of "Death Sentence", Lee officially declared war on The Family and on Lexx in particular.
-->From his Twitter account: This is too fucking far. I know you're reading this Lexx. This isn't a threat, this is a promise. I'm going to fucking kill you. I'm going to be there while the life drains out of you, and I'm going to enjoy watching it happen, you crazy bitch. Sleep with one fucking eye open. -Lee
* BigBrotherInstinct: After Lee's attack from the Rake, Mo jumps right in to Lee's protection. He usually never leaves his brother alone, or is at least very reluctant to do so.
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler: Linnie in "The Viaduct" and Mo in "Rescue."]]
* BloodFromTheMouth: After the Slender Man splits up Lee and Mo from Story, teleporting them to their home, they both cough up blood.
* BloodMagic: The Knife requires the blood of its Carrier to transport him to another dimension. In "The Other Side" it forces Lee to cut himself and thereby throw himself into the other dimension.
* [[spoiler: ColdBloodedTorture: While Lee is a prisoner of the cult, he's locked in a metal storage unit for ''months'' while he suffers frequent beatings, is "cut and flayed", deprived of food and water, has one of [[{{Fingore}} his fingers cut off]] (for use in a ransom note), and on at least one occasion is ''MindRaped'' by the Rake and ForcedToWatch his loved ones die in various (and probably increasingly) horrible ways. And that's just what we KNOW ABOUT.]]
* CallForward: During one video, Lee mentions that to Linnie that he once encountered a strange man in New Jersey who had no idea where he was. Fast-forward to Valentine's Day 2014, and we find out the identity of that man. It's [[WebVideo/TribeTwelve Noah Maxwell.]]
* CompanionCube: [[spoiler: Since Mo's death]] Lee appears to hear the Knife speaking to him; it is unclear how much of this is SanitySlippage or if he is actually hearing it say something to him -- since it is an eldritch item, it may be a bit of both.
* {{Crossover}}: In the three-part episode "Thompson Park"/"Story"/"Separation", Lee and Mo assist Story Parker, the protagonist of Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos series WebVideo/KeratinGarden).
** Lee also made a [[TheCameo cameo]] in the WebVideo/TribeTwelve video "Bridge To Nowhere" as a motorist who offers Noah assistance.
** Although he doesn't pick up, WebVideo/StanFrederick tries to phone Lee to ask him about his knowledge on The Rake in his video "Indebted". WordOfGod states that [[WhatCouldHaveBeen Lee was going to phone Stan back later in the series, only for Stan to dismiss him due to him not helping him previously]].
* ClingyMacGuffin: The Book and the Knife, which (once they have chosen a Carrier) can only be passed on to someone else by the present Carrier (Lee) giving it to them. Lee also burned the Book, but it reappeared on his kitchen kitchen table as if nothing had happened.
* CreepyPasta: The Rake, the main focus of the series, has its origins in one. WordOfGod has it that the creators wanted to do an ARG, but didn't want to make another [[Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos Slender Man]] series.
* DefiantToTheEnd: [[spoiler: Mo.]]
* DiscOneFinalBoss: [[spoiler: Sean at first appears to be the BigBad, being the one in charge of the Rake cultists, but then he's captured by Mo and Lee and the Rake decides to pull a YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness]]
* DistressedDude: [[spoiler: Expecting help, Lee and Mo visit a supposed fan to help translate the book only to knock them out with their special tea. They take Mo hostage in exchange for Lee to "willingly" give up the book. They make the trade and rush to get out of there only for the Rake to snatch Lee in the forest. The Rake's followers hold him captive for several months until Mo is able to pinpoint his location and mount a rescue mission.]]
* [[spoiler: EtTuBrute: Lee, after having been tortured by Shiny Mask for months, has a HeroicBSOD after learning that Shiny Mask's real identity is Sean, one of his friends.]]
* FauxAffablyEvil: Lexx and Shiny Mask.
* HeroicBSOD: Lee, twice so far throughout the series.
* HumanoidAbomination/ BeastMan: The Rake, naturally.
* HostageForMacGuffin: [[spoiler: The cult after Lee asks for the book in exchange for his brother's freedom.]]
* ItsAllMyFault: Lee blames himself for [[spoiler: Mo's death]].
* ItSucksToBeTheChosenOne: Lee is a Carrier, chosen by eldritch items to be their bearer, leading to The Family and the Rake coming after him for one of them, the other one edging him further towards insanity.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Sean and Mo are murdered (off-camera) by followers of the Rake in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnelfLzRJaI "Death Sentence"]].]]
* LaughingMad: Lee when leaving [[spoiler: Sean]] to deal with the torturous withdrawal of being deprived of The Speaker's voice.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Unlike similar ARG blogs, Rake's presence or a supernatural occurrence is usual indicated by a resonating chime heard in the background.
* ReligionOfEvil: The black-garbed cult that honors the Rake. They're bad news.
* SanitySlippage: Even Mo calls Lee out on it. And its just gotten worse since his torture [[spoiler: and Mo's death.]]
* SlippingAMickey: [[spoiler: Mo and Lee are drugged by spiked tea.]]
* WakingUpElsewhere: If his confusion upon waking up is anything to go by, Lee experiences this at the start of the video [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9dlxNQ24oo The Past Year]] is this.
