''Sonic Eraser'' is a 1991 PuzzleGame based on ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' released for the Platform/SegaMegaDrive in Japan exclusively as a downloadable title for the Sega Meganet service.

The game is a basic falling blocks puzzle game where you try to match up four identical shapes in a row to keep their screen clear. A two player head-to-head mode is also available, along with three other available modes of play.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Aside from the weirdness of the only characters being two identical Sonics, they fight by punching each other. Also, outside of the two Sonics, this game has absolutely ''nothing'' in common with [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog1 the first game]], let alone the rest the franchise (the logo also mimicks a storybook cover, something that ''[[http://info.sonicretro.org/File:Eraser_title.png really]]'' doesn't show up the feel of a ''Sonic'' game). The only things that indicate that it is even a ''Sonic'' title at all is the game's title and that Sonic appears in multiplayer.
** Oddly enough, one of the fighting animations shows up a Sonic spindashing against the other Sonic, making this game ''the really first Sonic game to actually include the attack'' (although not interactive to the player), since the first game didn't include it.
* NoAntagonist: Dr. Eggman takes a rare leave of absence for this game, so the only conflict comes from clearing your screen or competing with another player.
* NoPlotNoProblem: There isn't even an attempt at a story here--it's just a basic falling blocks puzzle game with Sonic appearing.
* FallingBlocks: The main puzzle pieces are a collection of colorful falling blocks, but there are other geometric shapes available as well.
* OddballInTheSeries: A very early attempt at a ''Sonic''-themed puzzle game, but as you can see above it is very drab-looking and simply has two Sonics shoehorned in and punching each other for no reason.
* StorybookOpening: The game's title screen is depicted as being a storybook.
