''Cops N' Robbers'' is an Creator/{{Atari}} MediaNotes/ArcadeGame from 1976, for 1 to 4 players (plus a computer player if there are 1 or 3 players). It's a TopDownView, PlayerVersusPlayer ShootEmUp, set in TheRoaringTwenties or [[TheGreatDepression the early '30s]]. One or two players control police cars driving up a road on the left side of the screen, and one or two players control the robbers' cars on the right side. Gas pedals let you move the cars up and down the screen, and a joystick lets you aim and fire a gun sticking out of the side of the car. Beer trucks drive up the middle of the screen, getting in the way.

Not to be confused with ''Maze Craze: A Game of Cops 'n Robbers'' for the Platform/Atari2600, or the Commodore [=VIC-20/C64=] game from 1985.

!!''Cops N' Robbers'' provides examples of:

* AttractMode: The cars shoot at each other while the game waits for you to start.
* DeathIsASlapOnTheWrist: You crash for a few seconds, then off you go again.
* EveryBulletIsATracer: Every bullet can be seen flying across the screen.
* OneBulletAtATime: You have to wait for your bullet to hit an enemy car or go off screen to fire again, producing the classic variable rate of fire depending on where your car is and where you're shooting.
* OneHitPointWonder: The cars crash with a single hit. The beer trucks are invincible.
* PainfullySlowProjectile: The bullets fly slowly across the screen, and can be dodged by the enemy cars.
* PlayerVersusPlayer: The game was designed for two players, though it can be played alone.
* ScoringPoints: Each side scores one point every time they hit an enemy car.
* ShootEmUp: Both sides are fixed on the left and right sides of the screen, shooting at each other.
* TheRoaringTwenties: A generic gangster setting, with late '20s or [[TheGreatDepression early '30s]] cars. The beer trucks may indicate that this is after Prohibition, or may just be a case of poor research.
* TimedMission: Three minutes.
* TopDownView: The cars and road are seen from above. The cars are seen from the side when they crash, so apparently they roll over.
* VillainProtagonist: The game provides one of the earliest examples since the robbers are playable.
