[[caption-width-right:194:Bear & Breakfast is a laid-back management adventure game where you build and run a bed and breakfast...but you’re a bear.]]
''Bear & Breakfast'' is a SpaceManagementGame developed by Gummy Cat and published by Armor Studios and released on July 28, 2022.

One day, Hank and his friends come upon an abandoned shack in the woods. Equipped with teenage ingenuity, they decide to turn the shack into a cozy bed and breakfast. What makes this story different from others of the same type? Hank happens to be a bear! Hank and his friends must build and maintain the bed & breakfast to keep guests happy. Happy guests will give good reviews and be more willing to pay more money for their stay, allowing Hank and his friends the ability to buy more items to customize the facility. Every room can be customized with unique fixtures and furniture.

Unlike other games of this nature, ''Bear and Breakfast'' is a heavily story-based game. As Hank and his friends work on building and maintaining the inn, guests they invite may have deep secrets of their own which may soon lead to Hank discovering there is more to the woods than they think.

!This game features the following tropes:
* AcrophobicBird: Will doesn't fly, though he's a flighted species of bird. Apparently he's tired of people bringing it up.
* ActuallyIAmHer: When Hank is tasked by Oliver to deliver the latter's letter to Beanie at Sawdust, he goes to Sabine's outpost to ask her where Beanie is. Sabine immediately clarifies that she's the person Hank is looking for because Beanie's her nickname.
* AddedAlliterativeAppeal: Fin's ad for the A24 Motel goes like this:
--> "Be pat of the next Exciting Experience, Enticing Escape, ELECTRIFYING ENTERPRISE!"
* TheAloner: Gus prefers living alone on the A24 and rejects Hank's offer to visit him one day.
* AntiFrustrationFeatures: If Hank gets stuck on the map, you can free him by pressing an emergency button on the menu.
* {{Autosave}}: The game automatically saves your progress, which can be toggled in the settings, although you can save manually as well.
* BearyFriendly: Hank is a grizzly bear but is not afraid to show his kindness to his guests, human or animal. Maintaining top-service inns is also his biggest priority.
* BlackComedy: Checking the dumpster behind Anton's office has Hank comment that it's a good place to hide a body.
* {{Bookworm}}: Will gets Hank to retrieve magazines and pamphlets from the trash to learn more about humans from them. Will often cites books as his source of knowledge about them.
* BrokenBridge: Some paths in the overworld are blocked, and you need the right tools to clear them.
* BusyBeaver: Tony, who teaches Hank carpentry, is a beaver who's an expert in woodwork.
* ComicalNapDrool: Hank drools while sleeping on the kitchen table in the title screen.
* ComplimentBackfire: Gus doesn't like Hank's compliments because as a {{Jerkass}} resident of the A24, he hates people being nice to him.
* DamnedByFaintPraise: After Hank repairs the Workbench, Tony says that it's good... enough. Hank doesn't appreciate it, but Tony assures him that he'll get better at repairs soon.
* DoNotCallMePaul: Sabine prefers going by her nickname Beanie, but nobody but Oliver calls her that while her mom still calls her by her real name.
* DoubleUnlock: In order to build new furniture, first you need to buy its blueprint, and then select it in the Crafting menu to learn it and add it to the list.
* DreamIntro: The game begins with Hank having a nightmare about a dark, mysterious bird staring at him before flying away in a storm. He then wanders around in the darkness to look for his bed, which serves as the movement tutorial, and then wakes up remarking that he [[AcidRefluxNightmare shouldn't have had dumplings before bed.]]
* DumpsterDive: Hank and his friends used to go dumpster diving for magazines and pamphlets at Timber Crossing until a fence was put around the Thicket, their home. After the humans left for a while, the trio was able to go over the fence and raid the garbage containers again. Took does this regularly to find decorations to trade for any litter Hank picks up.
* EarlyBirdCameo: As soon as you get the Atlas from Beanie, you can see Twiggy, Wade, and Charlotte in the southern part of Blackmoss. However, you can't meet them until later in the story because you can't cross the BrokenBridge to that area yet.
* EffortlessAchievement: There are achievements for doing simple tasks such as waking up to start the game.
* AnEntrepreneurIsYou: Hank must build and expand the inns, keep his guests happy, and make continuous improvements to satisfy future guests, all while making sure the inns are turning a profit and he has the money needed to make updates.
* FastForwardMechanic: Since there's less visibility at night, you can sleep through it anytime to advance to the next morning.
* FetchQuest: There are several quests where you're tasked to retrieve special items for someone, but one such quest is literally named "Fetch Quest, Three Ways".
* GRatedStoner: Ranger Sabine says that there are mushrooms in Sawdust rumored to give one nightmares when eaten, and that she could go for some "right now".
* HolidayMode: The Fintastic Winter Update added a special shop on the A24 that sells Christmas items.
* HumanoidFemaleAnimal: Among the main trio, Anni, an anthro Karelian bear dog, has a slender, more humanoid build than her friends Hank and Will, who are {{Funny Animal}}s.
* HumansAreCthulhu: The animals are afraid of humans because some believe that they're godly beings who "forge the world with their magic and machines" and bless the animals with food and other stuff they liked. Others are angry at them and call them "unqualified harbingers of doom", and Hank's mom has always warned him to keep his distance from them.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: Hank and his friends experience an initial reluctance to allow humans to stay in the Shed because of the damaging things they do to the woods.
* IdiotHero: Hank's a [[BearyFriendly nice bear]], easily the least suspicious or irritable of his friends, but also the dimmest.
* INeverToldYouMyName: When Hank visits Anton's office, Anton addresses him by name, to his surprise since he never introduced himself first. Anton then says he knew Hank's name before Hank's mom did, except that Margaret didn't name him.
* InSeriesNickname: Anni calls Margaret "Mrs. M", while Beanie calls Oliver "Olly", while Wade calls his boss Anton "Mister A".
* TheInsomniac: Hank has trouble sleeping because he often ruminates in bed, calling sleep "overrated". According to his mother Margaret, it runs in the family.
* AnInteriorDesignerIsYou: You are encouraged to decorate the rooms with nonessentials to boost your inn's Prestige in order to attract more lucrative visitors. You can buy decor at Took's Dumpster by exchanging "valuables" aka trash for them.
* InUniverseGameClock: The game moves through not just a day and night cycle, but also runs through seasons.
* ItemCrafting: The Workbench lets you craft items using scrap materials.
* ItsQuietTooQuiet: Sabine occasionally remarks that woods of Sawdust is "peaceful and quiet these days. A little too quiet."
* KleptomaniacHero: Not only can Hank collect "valuables" aka litter and scrap materials for crafting, he can also steal from humans and raid buildings for their stuff.
* TheKlutz: Implied when Margaret sternly tells Hank not to lose the quest notebook ''again'' when she gives it to him before his morning trek. Anni and Will, on the other hand, give her knowing looks, to Hank's embarrassment.
* LampshadedDoubleEntendre: Hank makes this comment on the bridge in Sawdust:
--> "That's the biggest [[JokeOfTheButt crack]] I've ever seen. Hehe."
* LargeAndInCharge: {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d by Hank when Took questions his trust in him to go {{Dumpster Div|e}}ing to look for decor for the Shed.
--> '''Took''': How can I know to trust you?\
'''Hank''': Uh... my authoritative height?
* LetsSplitUpGang: Upon arriving at Blackmoss, Will tells the trio to "spr--" but Anni excitedly claims that they'll "SPREAD OUT!" Will silently but begrudgingly doesn't object to it, and the trio splits up, leaving you free to explore the forest by yourself.
* LiteralMinded: Hank doesn't have a good grasp on idioms. For example, when Hank delivers Oliver's letter to Beanie, she's surprised by its contents and calls Oliver a weasel for it. Being a bear, he thinks she meant it literally and tells her that Oliver isn't a weasel (although he resembles one), but Beanie clarifies that Oliver found the last page of the atlas they made when they were teens.
* ALizardNamedLiz:
** Will the Poor''will'', who's a species of nightjar.
** Fin the Shark mascot of Pawn Voyage.
* LionsAndTigersAndHumansOhMy: Talking woodland animals work together to build inns for humans. However, [[AnimalTalk the animals only make noises when they talk to humans]], and while they can vaguely get what they're saying, Sabine is [[SpeaksFluentAnimal the only human who can fully understand them.]]
* TheLostWoods: The game's primary setting is a dense forest.
* MyBelovedSmother: Margaret is always worried about Hank's safety and warns him to be careful outside the Thicket, to his embarrassment. She also gives him pocket money if he's low on funds, but still reminds him to be careful with spending it. She gets understandably worried when Hank and his friends return to the Thicket several days after Hank builds his first inn, [[GameplayAndStorySegregation even if he talked to her prior to this.]]
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: Among the main trio, Anni is the Nice, optimistic dog who's looking forward to adventure, Will is the Mean, snarky bird who complains about not doing anything "fun", while Hank is the laid-back, In-Between bear who simply likes tagging along with them.
* NostalgiaFilter: Oliver the busman says that they don't make games "like they used to".
--> "How do they make 'em? Look bud, I just play 'em."
* NoticeThis: Interactive objects and places of interest are marked with an eye icon.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: When Hank first meets Tony, the latter pretends to be surprised by him talking when both of them are {{Funny Animal}}s, to Hank's disappointment. Tony then quickly remarks that he was just messing with him.
* OddFriendship: Oliver, a friendly, easygoing bus driver, doesn't seem bothered by Took, a sneaky, crazy raccoon, stealing his food. The narration describes them as living in "peculiar harmony".
* PantslessMalesFullyDressedFemales: Among the animal cast, the females are fully clothed while the males wear either only hats, shirts, or both.
* ParrotExpowhat: When Hank tells Tony about the Kiosk, the latter says that it's one of the first buildings humans built in Silver Valley. Cue the following exchange:
--> '''Will''': Just like the pyramids.\
'''Tony''': It's more like rectangular parallel-piped.\
'''Will''': A rectangu-what?
* PluckyGirl: Anni is described as "brave, but clumsy" as she and her friends set off for adventure. She keeps her head up high and hopes to sniff out goodies along the way.
* PredatoryBusiness: Pawn Voyage is a shady pawn shop promising lots of money and other perks to those starting their business with their help. They claim that humans have become good to the animals and are willing to stay at an inn run by them, but as Fin the literal LoanShark mascot warns Hank after he books his first guest, he and his friends are actually on their way to financial ruin. The company also has low quality standards, yet it berates Hank for not having enough Prestige to attract more lucrative guests, and it greedily encourages him to buy prettier decor to help rake in the cash from them.
* RascallyRaccoon: Took the Raccoon can be seen going crazy from raiding a garbage container at Timber Crossing. He also doesn't mind Hank giving him a rotting sandwich from under a bus because it's like what his mom makes for him.
--> "You hang out with trash, you start to smell like garbage. Rich and appetizing!"
* ShoutOut:
** Anni mentions falling asleep halfway through watching a movie with Will about [[Film/MarleyAndMe a dog named Marley.]]
** Inspecting the huge woodpile next to Tony's workshop makes Hank wonder why he doesn't simply [[VideoGame/{{Minecraft}} punch the trees.]]
** Anton runs his Dump on the A24, which covers [[WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994 "everything the stench touches."]]
* {{Sidequest}}: In your Quest Log, the mandatory story quests are marked with three chevrons pointing up while the optional quests aren't marked.
* SophisticatedAsHell: The credits has this in its SpecialThanks as a CreditsGag:
--> ''Our families, friends, and people that put up with our crap''
* SourSupporter: Will is the pessimistic one of the main trio and is described as "grumpy on the outside, but surprisingly... [[BaitAndSwitchCharacterIntro even more so on the inside]]". Despite this, he still tags along with them as a good friend.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: Hank is shocked to find out that Sabine can understand his [[AnimalTalk bear noises]]. Since she's been around Sawdust for a while, she can get the gist of what the forest animals are saying.
* TerseTalker: Gus mostly talks in short sentences, usually not more than five words. Hank remarks that in a way, Gus doesn't talk much.
* ToiletHumor: Hank gets grossed out by Took figuring out the answer to the 1982 crossword semis -- logorrhea, mistaking it for [[PottyFailure "the other thing"]], which the latter also found in the puzzle.
* UnusualEuphemism: When Charlotte gets worried, she goes, "Oh, crickets!"
* WarpWhistle: There are bus stops in Silver Valley where Hank can call Oliver to instantly drive him to various places on the map. He has to repair and put bus signs on them in order to use them.
* WhosOnFirst: When Hank presses his finger on Fin's biometric scanner, he malfunctions because he didn't recognize his fingerprint. Cue the following exchange:
--> '''Fin''': Welcome to the family, ERROR NAME UNKNOWN\
'''Will''': Name suits you.
* WickedWitch: Charlotte is a classical cannibalistic witch. She assures Hank that it's "safe" to enter her house because he's too big for her cauldron, then reveals that she's preparing Wade for pickling.
* WokenUpAtAnUngodlyHour: At the start of the game, Hank wakes up his friends Anni and Will by bursting through their door and shouting "Goooood moooorrrniiiing!" They both tell him to get out for waking them up so early for their morning trek.
