!!This game provides examples of:
* AliensAreBastards: Zigzagged and downplayed. You see several Aliens of the LittleGreenMen variety in Burntrock who mostly just hang around. In the first DLC pack though, the antagonist is an alien named Nebulord, who's described as "Not a baddie, just quite selfish."
* AmbiguousGender: You're never given an option to choose your character's gender, just to choose your body shape. You're also never referred to by gendered pronouns.
* AndYourRewardIsClothes: By achieving high-scores in a level and completing special tasks (such as hitting three birds/frogs/bees/etc. scattered across the track), you're rewarded with new outfits, skateboard parts, and trick poses, all of which are purely cosmetic.
* BigFun: Mike is the largest of the main crew, and definitely the most excitable.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: After meeting Skate God "The Mirage", he advises you to meet the next God "Hazard Queen" because, among other reasons, it's what the game's designers intend for them to do.
* CapitalismIsBad: Suze certainly thinks so.
* CastFullOfGay: Not everyone, but multiple side characters casually bring up girlfriends/ boyfriends, and a few are implied Nonbinary. It doesn't come up much due to the type of game this is, but enough to stand out.
* CelShading: The game is stylized with a toon shader. As a result, the art style is almost reminiscent of ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime''.
* CharacterCustomization: The player character is assisted by a mentor "Dad", who helps you define their looks.
* CompanionCube: Suse treats her camera, Vammy, like this. Given it has a face and a lot of seemingly inanimate objects are sentient in Radlandia, it's unknown if Cammy is actually alive.
* CoolBoard: The skateboard can be customized with a variety of decals and forms. One wacky example has the board shaped like a shovel.
* CoolOldGuy; Two of them, actually.
** Chiffon is implied to be pretty old by her grey hair and desire to retire. But she still loves skateboarding and is incredibly supportive of her protégé and generally offers wisdom and mystical guidance.
** Dad is a less active example. Like the others, he's pretty supportive of the player, but also tends to be out of touch with current trends or technology. He's also the most responsible of the team, implied to be the one who makes sure they stay stocked up on food.
* GodIsGood: All five of the Skate Godz are good natured and pretty chill, happily willing to accept the player as the new Skate Wizard. This is particularly true of Technicolas and Radysus.
* FlatEarthAtheist: Suze mentions several times she doesn't believe in the Skate Godz... despite being longtime friends with the person who speaks for them.
* IceCreamKoan:
** "The Mirage" of the Skate Godz is fond of spouting these to sound more mystical and god-like, such as pondering which end of the skateboard is "the front", and whether they're real or just a manifestation of corporate sponsorship.
** Chiffon mostly avoids this, but falls into it a few times.
* ImplausibleBoardingSkills: Some of the moves defy gravity and other real-life physics. This includes skateboarding across moving walls for an extended period of time.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: "Jerk" is pushing it, but of your crew, Suze tends to be the most cynical and doubtful, openly ridiculing your journey or several supporting characters' ideas and motives, while still mostly nice and supportive about those ideas and motives.
* NoAntagonist: There's little to no conflict in the game. Even your rivals are all friendly. The challenge primarily comes from your growth as a skater.
* NoPlotNoProblem: There is a plot, as light as it is, but on every level you have a dialogue option to actually talk to the other characters or tell them to just let you get straight to the gameplay.
-->'''Suze:''' We should probably introduce ourselves if you might be joining our crew...
-->'''Player Character:''' No thanks, I just want to skate.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: One of the skate mentors is called "Dad". Suze explains that he's not actually anybody's dad, that's just what everyone calls him.
* PalmtreePanic: Sunshine valley is home to one of the Skate Godz, Technicolas. It’s also home to sandy beaches, boardwalks, water parks, and people who like to relax in the sun.
* PlantPerson: The Skate God met in the forest area is one, with a giant leaf in place of a head.
* ThatOneLevel: Nebulord's Palace in the Void Riders DLC is easily one of the most difficult in the game. The goal is deceptively simple: reach the end of the course. But to accomplish that, one has to go through one of the longest, most tedious courses in the game with incredibly tight jumps that leave almost no room for error and very little time to react to them as they are summoned by Nebulord moments before you reach the obstacle. On top of that, there aren't any checkpoints so if you slam at any point then you have to start the course all over again from the beginning.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Suze and Mike tend to squabble the most in the crew, primarily instigated by Suze, while Mike tends to be oblivious about her barbs.
* XtremeKoolLetterz: It's Skate Godz with a 'z' for maximum coolness.
