* CutSong: Music/PaulSimon, who wrote the score for the film, also wrote a title song, "Have A Good Time," but Creator/WarrenBeatty convinced Creator/HalAshby to ditch the song in favor of Music/TheBeachBoys' "Wouldn't It Be Nice," because Beatty was convinced Simon's song set up his character as being purely superficial, hence one-dimensional. In consequence, Simon included the song on his multi-Grammy winning ''Still Crazy After All These Years'' album instead.
* ExtremelyLengthyCreation: Creator/RobertTowne wrote (and continually rewrote) the screenplay for this film eight years before it was finally produced,
* IronyAsSheIsCast: Creator/JulieChristie, in real life an outspoken activist for various causes, playing a superficial gold-digger.

* RomanceOnTheSet: Creator/LeeGrant claimed in her 2014 autobiography that "everyone knew" Creator/GoldieHawn and Creator/WarrenBeatty were sleeping together, even though he was still involved with Julie Christie.
* SavedFromDevelopmentHell: Creator/RobertTowne and Creator/WarrenBeatty started working on the script in 1968, but it took years for them to find financing. One result was that even though it was meant to be a contemporary story originally, by the time they actually filmed it they just kept the 1968 setting and made it a period piece.
* TypeCasting: Notorious womanizer Creator/WarrenBeatty playing notorious womanizer George.
* WorkingTitle: When Creator/WarrenBeatty conceived idea for this film in 1967, it was called ''Hair'' (later changed to avoid confusion with [[Theatre/{{Hair}} the rock musical]]).
