Go To

* ActingForTwo:
** Creator/KathleenBarr voices Rudolph, Mrs. Claus, Dolly, Peggy the Pig and Female Cardina.
** Creator/ScottMcNeil voices both Hermey and Yukon Cornelius, who interact with one another quite frequently. Similarly, Creator/GarryChalk voices both Santa Claus and Bumble, who do share a few scenes together.
* CelebrityVoiceActor: Creator/RichardDreyfuss, Creator/JamieLeeCurtis, and Creator/RickMoranis are featured as such in the film.
* CreatorKiller: Helped contribute to Good Times Entertainment's downfall, as the company folded in 2005.
* CrossDressingVoices: Rudolph, a male reindeer, is voiced by a female actress.
* DirectToVideo: Was released in this format in 2001.
* FranchiseKiller: Seems to have done this for the modern Rankin-Bass sequels, as only two have since come out after this one: ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfFrostyTheSnowman'' and ''A Miser Brothers Christmas'' (though both ultimately fared better than this film).
* NoBudget: It would appear to be this way, considering the quality of the animation.
* NonSingingVoice:
** Creator/RickMoranis voices the Toy Taker principally, with his laughter and higher emotive expletives doubled by Don Brown, but his singing is done by Bruce Roberts. Roberts also took on the Kite's singing for Alec Willows.
** Shawn Southwick did Clarisse's singing instead of her normal actress Elizabeth Savenkoff.
* TheOtherDarrin: A necessity, considering most of the original cast had already passed away or retired. To note:
** Kathleen Barr replaces Billie Mae Richards as Rudolph (though she has played Rudolph before), along with Corinne Conley as Dolly.
** Scott [=McNeil=] replaces Paul Soles as Hermey, Larry Mann as Yukon Cornelius, and Paul Klingman as Coach Comet.
** Garry Chalk replaces Stan Francis as Santa Claus, while Francis' other role as King Moonracer is replaced with Colin Murdock. Garry also replaces Pinto Colvig as the Abominable Snow Monster.
** Elizabeth Carol Savenkoff replaces Janis Orenstein as Clarice.
** Peter Kelamis replaces Carl Banas as the Elf Foreman.
** Lee Tockar replaces Aflie Scopp as Charlie in the Box.
* PlayingAgainstType: Considering Scott [=McNeil's=] [[WesternAnimation/BeastWars most known roles]] consist of the snarky Rattrap, the honor-bound Dinobot, the hapless Waspinator, and the chivalrous Silverbolt, playing a relatively well known NiceGuy like Hermey is definitely this trope. It's averted with Yukon Cornelius since a lot of the aforementioned characters can get quite hammy.
* RoleReprise: Kathleen Barr returns to voice Rudolph, after already playing him in ''WesternAnimation/RudolphTheRedNosedReindeer1998''.
* SequelGap: The film was released in 2001, 37 years after the original special came out. It was also released 22 years after the last sequel, ''WesternAnimation/RudolphAndFrostysChristmasInJuly'' (though it seems to ignore this one).
