Context Trivia / Baywatch2017

* CreatorBacklash: Creator/ZacEfron cited this film while speaking out against the demands of shirtless scenes and how they contribute to unrealistic body image issues in the public. He says that extreme diet and exercise he put himself through caused long-lasting physical and mental health issues.
* DearNegativeReader: Dwayne Johnson mocked the film's negative reviews in a few tweets.
* DeletedScene: One notable deleted scene had now-infamous web celebrity Creator/LoganPaul playing a minor role. Ironically enough said scene depicted him getting kicked off the try-outs for being a douchebag.
* DevelopmentHell: A live-action Baywatch movie was announced as early as 2004 and went through multiple writers, directors, and actors; reflected by the finished film having SIX credited writers (two screenwriters and four "Story by" credits).
* HostilityOnTheSet: Most of the cast and crew did not get along with Creator/KellyRohrbach. She was reportedly so difficult on set to the point where none of her co-stars wanted to be paired with Rohrbach during press junkets to promote the movie.
* StarDerailingRole: For Kelly Rohrbach, not helped by the reported HostilityOnTheSet towards her. As of 2024, Rohrbach's acting career has made very little progress since the release of this film.Her only acting credits of any note since then were a cameo AsHerself in Film/OceansEight and a brief (four-episodes long) recurring role in the TV series Series/Yellowstone. It's highly unlikely that she cares either way, seeing how she is married to Steuart Walton, a heir to the billionaire Walton family who owns and operates the Walmart chain of stores.
* ThoseTwoActors: This is the second time that Dwayne Johnson and Creator/AlexandraDaddario were in the same film, after Film/SanAndreas. (Daddario is even in a DeletedScene in a third film with Johnson.)
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** At one point, Series/Reno911 creator Robert Ben Garant was set to direct, with a screenplay by fellow Reno alum Thomas Lennon. Creator/BillHader would've played Mitch.
** Earlier drafts had more characters from the original series, including Newmie, Craig, Shauni, Caroline, and Hobie; who in this iteration would've been the son of Mitch and Stephanie.
