* ActingForTwo: Most of the main cast and several supporting cast (Team SHINC) needs to provide two different voices for their character's in-game avatar and their real life self, showcasing the voice artists' vocal range. The only exceptions are Creator/ChinatsuAkasaki and Creator/FayeMata who use the same voice for both Miyu and Fukaziroh.
** The standouts are Creator/TomoriKusunoki and Creator/YokoHikasa, who both do ''three'' voices in the show: [[spoiler: Kusunoki also does P-chan's voice, while Hikasa also voices Elza Kanzaki's music club owner Rei Satou in the final episode.]]
* ExiledFromContinuity: While alluded to a few times, major ''Sword Art Online'' characters like Kirito and Sinon are completely absent from the spin-off.
** In fact Episode 2-3 occurs in the background of the ''Phantom Bullet'' arc, but the Death Gun incident is never brought up, even though the Bullet of Bullets Tournament is.
** In Episode 9 and 10, Sinon is directly referenced by name. In fact it's revealed she spoke with Team SHINC offscreen at some point before Squad Jam 2.
** The closest we've gotten to a physical appearance is a silhouette of Kirito's GGO avatar in Episode 10 while David is remembering photon swords.
* LifeImitatesArt: ''AGGO'' began publishing as a light novel series in 2014. The anime adaptation began airing in Spring 2018, right when MMO battle royale shooter games like ''VideoGame/PlayerUnknownsBattlegrounds'' and ''VideoGame/{{Fortnite}}'' were reaching huge popularity.
* NoDubForYou: Just like what happened with the Netflix version of SAO (but not with the broadcasted version for TV, as Latin American networks requires any foreign show to be dubbed in Spanish) in Latin America, the Netflix version of the show lacks a Latin American Spanish dub due to Aniplex's restrictions regarding dubbing to any other language other than the original Japanese or English in their licensed shows, at least until 2020.
* NoExportForYou: As of 2018, the light novel, anime and manga are licensed in various regions in English, Latin America, and major European languages. You're out of luck if you live in a country/territory where they don't sell/broadcast either of the three properties.
* NonSingingVoice: [=ReoNa=] provided the singing voice of Elza Kanzaki, even though her voice actress, Creator/YokoHikasa, is a singer in real-life.
* TheOtherDarrin: LLENN was played by Creator/MinamiTsuda in ''VideoGame/DengekiBunkoFightingClimax'', but was later replaced by Tomori Kusunoki for the subsequent roles.
* PlayingAgainstType: Creator/AllegraClark as [[spoiler: Elza Kanzaki, an IdolSinger with a squeaky voice]].
* QueerCharacterQueerActor: [[spoiler:Elza Kanzaki]]/Pitohui is bisexual just like her English dub voice actress Creator/AllegraClark.
* RecastAsARegular:
** Aside from LLENN, all of the main quartet are played by voice actors who worked with ''Sword Art Online'' in the past.
*** Pitohui is played by Creator/YokoHikasa, who had previously voiced Endou (Sinon's bully) from the ''Phantom Bullet'' arc.
*** Fukaziroh is voiced by Creator/ChinatsuAkasaki, who provided the voice of Lux in ''Lost Song''.
*** M is voiced by Creator/KazuyukiOkitsu, who voiced [[BigBad Genesis]] in ''Hollow Realization''.
** In the dub, Anna is voiced by Creator/XantheHuynh, who previously voiced Sachi in the ''Aincrad'' arc.
* ScheduleSlip: The English publications of the light novels. Creator/YenPress normally manages to get volumes out on a four month basis, but in 2019 Volumes 4 and 5 took five months to come out. Volume 6 managed to come out in an impressive two month period, but then Volume 7's release date was bumped back to a whopping ''ten'' months later on November 24th, 2020... and this was after it had been delayed twice from its original release date of October 24th, then November 17th.
** The manga adaptation stalled after Volume 3 was released in November 2018 in the middle of Squad Jam 1. Almost two years later in late October 2020, Tadadi Tamori [[https://twitter.com/tamori_tadadi/status/1321095129126576128 posted]] that he would be ending the adaptation with Volume 4 by finishing up Squad Jam 1 and not continuing it any further for personal reasons. The final chapter was released in Dengeki Maoh magazine on January 26, 2021, and the final manga volume was published on March 27, 2021.
* StarMakingRole: The role of LLENN for Tomori Kusunoki. Prior to this she was a fairly new and lesser known voice actress whose biggest claim to fame was starring as the lead of ''Literature/MarchenMadchen'', a series that was most (in)famous for being a [[TroubledProduction total production disaster]]. However, thanks to ''AGGO'' she became a sensation practically overnight.
** Also for singer [=ReoNa=], being Elza Kanzaki's [[https://www.kanzakielza.com singing voice]]. Over half a dozen insert songs in the show all went towards her big debut in the music industry.
