* ContractualObligationProject: The three cartoons produced by UPA were a contractual obligation for their distribution contract with Columbia Pictures. UPA wanted to do cartoons that steered away from the clichés of the day, such as the use of FunnyAnimals and {{Slapstick}}, both of which the Fox and Crow cartoons exemplified in spades. The cartoons were actually well received (two were nominated for Academy Awards), which gave UPA free rein to make their own films with their own characters.
* FollowTheLeader: The series was undoubtably an attempt at emulating the success of series like WesternAnimation/BugsBunny.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Affected on both fronts.
** Short subjects: As with most of Columbia's non-UPA shorts, the series has yet to see any full home video release. The first cartoon was included as an extra on the ''Film/Hellboy2004'' DVD, and the three UPA shorts were included as part of the UPA Jolly Frolics collection, but the rest remain in limbo. One of the biggest obstacles to a release is that one of the films, "Mysto Fox", only exists as a B&W dupe, with the color print being lost.
** Comic books: Copyright problems (given that publisher Creator/DCComics is owned by Sony/Columbia rival Creator/WarnerBros) have kept more than a handful of the long-running Fox and the Crow comics from ever being republished in a collection.
* MissingEpisode: One of the shorts, "Mysto Fox", is only known to exist as a Black and white print--the color print was apparently lost some time ago.
