** [[https://matan4il.tumblr.com/post/671201716802355200/i-had-this-moment-of-realization-that-newer-911 Oliver Stark and Ryan Guzman themselves were the ones who decided that "Buddie" is the better ship name than for their characters than "Beddie" during the first weeks of Season 2's first airings]].
** Oliver himself went from "I don't know what will happen to Buck and Eddie so I'm gonna stop liking fan works about them" to a [[https://twitter.com/bluegreytan/status/1480704146810486786 full-blown Buddie shipper starting from Season 5, liking fanarts about them while not promoting Buck's relationship with Taylor]].
** The show acknowledges Hen and Karen's ship name as they release Season 6's episode title placeholder "Henren Begins" even though they changed it to "Tomorrow."
* ChannelHop: Fox opted not to renew the show after the sixth season, leading to it moving to ABC for the seventh season.
* DawsonCasting: Season 6's "The Devil You Know" features a young Athena at 9 years of age in 1977, putting her birth year at 1968. Creator/AngelaBassett was born in 1958.
* DisabledCharacterDisabledActor: Christopher Diaz has cerebral palsy. He is played by Gavin [=McHugh=], who also has cerebral palsy.
* FakeAmerican: Creator/OliverStark (Buck) is British.
* HideYourPregnancy: Like her character Maddie, Creator/JenniferLoveHewitt was pregnant during season 4 but Maddie gave birth earlier than Hewitt. For the rest of the season, Maddie is shot from the waist up.
* MeaningfulReleaseDate: Season 4's premiere date is scheduled for January 18th, which can be abbreviated to 1/18, which also happens to be the number of the firehouse the show revolves around. The show's social media takes advantage of this, saying that "the 118 returns on 1/18."
* MissingTrailerScene: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j87ZkfKsmJs&ab_channel=TVPromos The promo for "Ghost Stories"]] includes a subplot about a ghost roomate that was cut from the episode proper.
** Infamously, a highly anticipated karaoke scene in 7x06 ("There Goes the Groom", aka Maddie and Chimney's wedding) between Buck and Eddie that was featured in marketing like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiKRQxcuf0M the promo]] and an interview, got cut from the episode. This caused substantial uproar with fans, who are clamoring to have it released as a DeletedScene later on.
* OutOfOrder: In season 5, two episodes air dated were swapped without a reason given.
** 5x06 "Brawl in Cell Block 9-1-1" was meant to air on November 8, 2021, but was switched with "Ghost Stories".
** 5x07 "Ghost Stories" was meant to air on November 1, 2021, but was switched with "Brawl in Cell Block 9-1-1"
* ProducedByCastMember: Creator/AngelaBassett (Athena) and Creator/PeterKrause (Bobby) are executive producers in addition to their starring roles..
* QueerCharacterQueerActor: Gay operator Josh Russo is played by gay actor Creator/BryanSafi.
* RealLifeRelative: Maddie's abusive husband Doug is played by Creator/JenniferLoveHewitt's real-life husband, Creator/BrianHallisay
* RealLifeWritesThePlot:
** The reason Maddie was PutOnABus in Season 5 was due to Creator/JenniferLoveHewitt going on maternity leave.
** Michael was written out when actor Rockmond Dunbar refused to comply with the show's Covid-19 filming protocols.
* ShipperOnSet: Both Creator/OliverStark (Buck) and Creator/JenniferLoveHewitt (Maddie, Buck's sister) have voiced their support for the fan shipping of Buck and Eddie ([[PortmanteauCoupleName Buddie]]). Oliver enjoyed liking and sharing fanart and other edits that fans sent him on both twitter and instagram. Ryan Guzman (Eddie) also commented on the matter, saying that he liked the name "Buddie" better than the alternative "Beddie."
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Maddie's love interest on the show was initially planned to be Eddie. However, Creator/JenniferLoveHewitt said no and suggested Chimney instead. Considering her instagram shoutout about shipping Buddie, this is probably one of her motivations.
** On a photo of the manuscript for "Outside Looking In" is a rather hard to read list of characters appearing in the episode. What sticks out is that Lucy's family name was initially planned to be "Rios" instead of "Donato."
** Albert was mean to have a major role in Season 5 and join the 118 station, but due to the actor's availability, those plans were dropped.
** Buck's[[spoiler: queer]] storyline in Season 7 was supposed to go to Eddie according to [[https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/9-1-1-show-tommy-buck-kiss-relationship-lou-ferrigno-jr-1235872688/ this interview]] with Lou Ferrigno Jr., but for some unknown reason the plan fell through and the switch was made afterwards.
*** Additionally, [[spoiler: Buck being bi,]] according to Oliver Stark, was proposed to him earlier on in the series' run (and he agreed!), but it was shot down by higher-ups (many have assumed that this was FOX).
