* ActingForTwo: Most of the actors have more than one main role.
** Creator/TaraStrong reprises her role as Omi, along with his protege Ping Pong.
** Creator/EricBauza voices Raimundo and Jack Spicer.
** Creator/JenniferHale voices Kimiko and the newcomer Willow (aka Shadow). She also returns to voice Katnappe.
** Creator/DavidKaye voices Clay and Chase Young.
* ExecutiveMeddling: Christy Hui noted that the more episodic nature of the series was because of "the networks", and that they had to fight ''very'' hard to be able to do the three-part season finale.
* RoleReprise: The only voice actors to reprise their roles from the original series are Creator/TaraStrong as Omi and Creator/JenniferHale as Katnappe.
* ScrewedByTheLawyers: Most (if not all) of the Shen Gong Wu that were present in the first series had to be redesigned and renamed due to Warner Bros. holding the rights to their names. In addition, this was also the reason behind Dojo turning from green to yellow.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: The show's tenure on Disney XD was a bit of a mess; after the initial premiere in August 2013, episodes began airing the following month on Saturdays – completely out of order. The show was then subject of several hiatus and schedule moves, which helped hastened its decline in ratings. Finally, it was unceremoniously dropped in March 2014 before it could finish its first season.
* TheOtherDarrin: Apart from Creator/TaraStrong as Omi and Creator/JenniferHale as Katnappe, ''none'' of the original voice actors return for the new series. To go into specifics:
** Creator/EricBauza replaces Creator/TomKenny and Danny Cooksey as Raimundo and Jack respectively.
** Creator/JenniferHale replaces Creator/GreyDeLisle as Kimiko.
** Creator/DavidKaye replaces Creator/JeffBennett and Creator/JasonMarsden as Clay and Chase Young respectively.
** Creator/CreeSummer replaces Creator/SusanSilo as Wuya.
** Creator/MichaelDonovan replaces Creator/MauriceLaMarche (alongside original voice actor René Auberjonois) and Creator/WayneKnight as Master Fung and Dojo Kanojo Cho respectively.
** As the show is a French co-production, all but two of the voice actors (Anouck Hautbois as Kimiko, and Boris Rehlinger as Chase Young) were replaced.
* TroubledProduction: As stated here in [[https://us5.campaign-archive.com/?u=72e5e554031c8b4144d6b495d&id=09425e4af9 these]] [[https://us5.campaign-archive.com/?u=72e5e554031c8b4144d6b495d&id=7e7ae4a762 newsletters]], there were several issues that complicated the production of the show. The greatest was the language gap between the French and English staff, which lead to ‘lost in translation’ issues, as Christy Hui referred to it as. She also points out a creative limitation imposed on the staff to keep the plot episodic.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The showrunners wanted to keep [[https://us5.campaign-archive.com/?u=72e5e554031c8b4144d6b495d&id=bfa2d1120c the original voice cast]] from ''Xiaolin Showdown'' but couldn’t due to time and [[NoBudget budget constraints]].
** Originally, the show was planned to have three seasons like the first series. The second season was announced for the fall of 2014. It was supposed to introduce new characters on both the good and evil sides, as well as new elements to the story.
