!!TV Show
* ActorAllusion:
** The knife vendor trying (and failing) to show off his wares in "Space Mall" is voiced by infamous infomercial star Creator/VinceOffer.
** Keith's birthday is listed as October 23rd; ''Series/TheWalkingDead2010'' fans know this as the day the episode in which [[spoiler:Glenn Rhee, also played by Keith's voice actor Creator/StevenYeun, was killed off]] aired.
* ActingForTwo:
** Neil Kaplan voices Zarkon, Laika and the Arusian king.
** Cree Summer voices Haggar, Klaizap and Sal's [[GirlsWithMoustaches bearded]] dish washing employee who claims to have worked at his restaurant since she was a little girl.
** Trevor Devall voices both Antok and Keith's father.
** It was thought that Creator/BexTaylorKlaus voiced both Pidge and Olia, before it was confirmed that the latter is actually voiced by Jessica [=McKenna=]. That being said, [=McKenna=] also voiced the Zaiforge commander in the season four finale.
** Kimberly Brooks voices Allura, the Unilu kiosk girl in "Space Mall" and Allura's mother Melenor.
** Nolan North voices Sam Holt, Commander Iverson, Sniv and Vrek. He also voices Elderbug Blate in motion comic adaptation of the Lion Forge comic book series.
** Josh Keaton voices Shiro, Sven in "Hole in the Sky" and Regris in "Code of Honor".
** Robin Atkin Downes voices both Xi and Haxus.
** Lacey Chabert voices Nyma, Te-osh in "Reunion" and Romelle in "Defender of All Universes".
** Keith Ferguson voices both Alfor and Prorok.
** Bill Millsap voices both Remdax and Raht in "The Journey", though he uses a deeper voice when voicing the latter.
** Fred Tatascoire voices Varkon, Sal, Lubos, the Beta Traz warden and Janka.
** Creator/JohnDiMaggio voices the Unilu dealer Pidge goes to as well as the bounty hunter and he also plays Lieutenant Ozar.
** Mark Rolston voices both Kolivan and Herreh.
** Ike Amadi voices La-Sai, Branko and Letch.
** Kari Wahlgren voices Luxia, Swirn, Luca, Ven'tar and Fentress.
** Cherise Boothe voices both Gnov and Ilun.
** A.J. Locascio voices both Lotor and James.
** Fryda Wolff voices both Malocoti and the Krell Sorceress in the motion comic adaptation of the Lion Forge comic book series.
** [[https://youtu.be/RDoCwgGIOMI This video covers which actor voices which character]].
* AllStarCast: With its impressive list of voice talent including ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime''[='=]s Jeremy Shada, ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderman''[='=]s Creator/JoshKeaton, and ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra''[='=]s Creator/StevenYeun.
* ArtistDisillusionment: Various staff members of the show have expressed their disappointment with the behavior of the fandom in regards to ShipToShipCombat, especially against the rabid Keith/Lance shippers.
* AscendedMeme: The official data book for the show acknowledges "Space Dad", the fandom's FanNickname for Shiro.
* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** At SDCC 2018, the creators confirmed that Seasons 7 and 8 would have a release schedule of 13 episodes instead of half-cours of 6-7 episodes each like Season 3-6, satisfying many fans who were disappointed with the reduced number of episodes for the previous four seasons.
** After many were incensed at Shiro's [[HideYourLesbians downplayed homosexuality]] and his boyfriend suffering a quick BuryYourGays in Season 7, [[spoiler:the very last scene of the series lets us know he did end up in a happy relationship with another man, whom he ''kisses onscreen'']], which the creators confirmed was an attempt to address the controversy over the former.
* BadExportForYou: If you live in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea and Singapore, chances are your country's Netflix won't have the show, but luckily, Dreamworks airs the show on their network. Only problem? In Asia, networks have a bad habit of being exclusively licensed to exactly one provider in each country. In this case, The Dreamworks Channel is only available to subscribers of one particular pay TV service in each of the six countries[[note]][=IndiHome=] Indonesia, CTH Thailand, [=HyppTV=] Malaysia, [=StarHub=] Singapore, KT South Korea and [=LeEco=] Hong Kong[[/note]]. If you have a subscription with a different service, your only option is to pay through your nose to have a second service pulled into your house and pay a monthly subscription to both services since switching would mean outright losing access to a channel that is exclusive to the other provider. And if the provider is cable-or-fiber-based and doesn't cover your area, it's technically no different from NoExportForYou...
** Took Netflix almost two years to finally make the show available over the service in Asia for all to see.
* CastingGag:
** In the Latin American Spanish dub of the original ''Voltron'', Creator/EduardoGarza played Pidge. In this ''Voltron'', he plays Matt [[spoiler:aka the new Pidge's ''brother''.]]
** Creator/CarlosSegundo played Prince Lotor in the original ''Anime/{{Voltron}}'', and in this version he plays Gyrgan of Rygnirath.
** Michael Bell, better known as Lance and Sven's voice actor in the original ''Voltron'' in addition to voicing the former in ''WesternAnimation/VoltronTheThirdDimension'' voices the Galra Archivist in "Kral Zera", thus making him the only voice actor to have a voice role in three of the four series in the franchise.
* ContentLeak:
** A random fan accidentally leaked storyboard images in the background of her tour photos then realized her mistake and asked everyone who saw her post to delete it. A different person who was a Klance fan refused to delete their copy of the images to try to blackmail the studio.
** As it turns out, the epilogue was leaked three months before it aired and many fans were very doubtful that this was real.
* CreatorBacklash: In a tweet, Lotor's voice actor AJ Locascio said he felt that his character deserved a better storyline for season 6 than the one he ultimately had.
* CreatorsFavorite: Lance is executive producer Joaquim dos Santos's [[https://www.hypable.com/voltron-s3-interview-joaquim-dos-santos-lauren-montgomery/ favorite character]].
* CrossDressingVoices:
** Sort of DoubleSubverted with Pidge, who initially appears to be a male character voiced by the AFAB and then female-presenting Creator/BexTaylorKlaus, but is later revealed to be a girl; however, Taylor-Klaus has since come out as non-binary, thus playing the trope straight.
** A more straight forward example is Creator/NeilKaplan voicing Laika, the warden's '''female''' pet "yupper".
** Another straight example is Creator/CreeSummer voicing Klaizap.
* DearNegativeReader: During several post-finale interviews, executive producers Lauren Monthomery and Joaquin Dos Santos were notoriously hostile and dismissive towards the finale’s critics, bluntly saying that those upset over [[spoiler:Allura’s fate]] simply “didn’t understand” the point, message and themes of [[spoiler:Allura’s character arc]] and of the series itself.
* DirectedByCastMember: The Latin American Spanish dub was directed by Creator/EduardoGarza, who provided the voice for Matthew Holt.
* ExecutiveMeddling:
** The main reason why head writer Tim Hedrick left during season 7 and inserted a jab towards WEP in "The Feud", which was one of the last episodes he was involved in before signing on as showrunner of ''WesternAnimation/FastAndFuriousSpyRacers'' .
** The decision to split 13-episode seasons to six to seven-episode seasons was not in fact the creators' decision but the executives'. Thankfully, it only affected the second production season as in SDCC 2018, it was confirmed that seasons 7 and 8 will each be 13-episode seasons.
** Shiro's return is a result of this. While many feel it is a [[Administrivia/TropesAreTools positive example]], [[BrokenBase some fans]] weren't happy that it caused Keith to be sidelined in season 4 and 5.
** Executives balked at the fact that Shiro was conceived as being gay, and insisted that his ex-boyfriend Adam be referred to as his [[HideYourGays "flight partner" and "best friend"]]. They eventually relented after pushing from Pidge's voice actor Creator/BexTaylorKlaus, who is an open nonbinary lesbian, but were resistant up until the day that the episode was shown to the public at SDCC, and certain versions of the audio track still use the [[https://www.vld-news.com/post/176895268497/i-posted-this-on-twitter-just-as-an-fyi-to-some-of censored version]].
** A 2021 interview with the voice actors revealed that a movie was in the works following up on the show's BittersweetEnding and featuring an older Lance and the return of Allura. However, they were forced to cancel the movie due to Hulu's buyout of rights to new projects from Dreamworks Animation, which imposed exclusivity rights upon them and terminated their contract with Netflix prematurely. Not only that but Dreamworks had lost interest in doing another project for the franchise and let the rights lapse, prompting Creator/AmazonStudios to acquire it in 2023.
* FakeBrit:
** While Allura is not British per se, her American voice actress, Kimberly Brooks, uses a British accent when voicing her.
** Same goes for Lotor's voice actor A.J. Locascio.
* FakeNationality: WordOfGod calls Lance and Hunk Cuban and Samoan, respectively, even though they both have white voice actors (American for Lance, Canadian for Hunk). Additionally, Japanese Shiro has a part Ashkenazi Jewish, part Peruvian VA, while Italian Pidge has a Jewish American voice actress.
* FlipFlopOfGod: Shiro's sexuality aside from being confirmed as not straight has gotten a bit of this.[[note]]To put a long story short, Joaquim Dos Santos said that Shiro and Adam do not strictly identify as anything other than being in a relationship with each other, and that Shiro's exact sexuality was up for audience interpretation, [[https://www.vld-news.com/post/176105203472/interview-quote so as to not deny people with different headcanons]], also mentioning not wanting to confirm one way or another due to the backlash they might receive from those that felt excluded, as the fandom has a notorious reputation for harassing the cast and crew over shipping. However, both Mitch Iverson and Tim Hedrick have stated that as they are unsure how or if people in the future label their sexualities, they believe that Shiro is exclusively attracted to men, with Joshua Hamilton saying that the writers have pictured Shiro as gay since the start, along with [[https://www.hypable.com/sdcc-voltron-interviews-lgbt-representation/ Lauren Montgomery also referring Shiro as a gay man]].[[/note]]
* GodNeverSaidThat: Keith/Lance shippers often claim that the pair were going to be a canonical romance until last-second ExecutiveMeddling or creator spite got in the way, and that the creators baited them with the promise that those two characters would be LGBT. However, taking ProductionLeadTime into account, what the creators have said on the subject of that pairing was an interview midway through the series' release where they stated they had no intention to ever pair the two together, that they had no expectation of the pairing becoming as popular as it did, and that it would have been too late to rewrite and reanimate the show to allow for it even if they changed their minds at the last second. As for the latter claim, the creators made a statement early on in the show that they planned to have racial and LGBT minority representation of some kind on the show, but they never said which characters it would be specifically, and there were indeed canonically LGBT characters in the form of Shiro, Adam, [[spoiler:Curtis]], Zethrid, Ezor, and Blaytz.
* InvisibleAdvertising: A lot of fans have felt that Dreamworks aren't really promoting much of the show, they posted ''three'' clips (four in season 7) during the week the season debuted in addition to posting trailers weeks before the season debut.
** Added to the fact that no clips from the final season were posted prior to the season, likely due to Dreamworks Animation wanting to keep certain details from being spoiled.
* LateExportForYou: Sadly for Filipinos, the show only officially became available to them when production for the series was wrapping up in late 2018, when Netflix finally make the show available Asia-wide instead of Japan-only. The show was a [=DreamWorks=] Channel exclusive in Asia prior to that, and The [=DreamWorks=] channel was not available in The Philippines until 2019.
* MemeAcknowledgement: Shiro's voice actor, Creator/JoshKeaton, has mentioned the Space Dad meme several times.
* NewbieBoom: This show has caused the biggest Voltron newbie explosion since the [=80s=], particularly as other attempts at reviving the brand were either too obscure (The Devil’s Due and Dynamite comics were never major sellers) or didn’t last very long (''[[WesternAnimation/VoltronTheThirdDimension The Third Dimension]]'' and ''WesternAnimation/VoltronForce'' only lasted 26 episodes each).
* TheNthDoctor: [[spoiler:After Haggar reverts back to her true Altean form and going by her actual name Honerva as a result of going to Oriande in "Omega Shield", Creator/LilyRabe voices her in "The Black Paladins", instead of Creator/CreeSummer, given the fact that Rabe voiced her as Honerva in the flashbacks for "The Legend Begins", though Summer continued voicing her as Haggar in "The Colony", "The Feud!" and "Shadows" and justified as Honerva can now be able to shift back to being Haggar and that Haggar can shift back to being Honerva.]]
* NoExportForYou:
** Live in the Philippines? No provider carries The Dreamworks Channel in the country, and Netflix doesn't have the show outside of Japan in the region. Understandably, a lot of Filipinos are foaming in their mouth in resentment (if not outright "[[KeepCirculatingTheTapes circulating tapes]]") as Voltron is one of the many quintessential childhood mecha animes in the country. Finally averted in 2018 when Netflix finally made the show available Asia-wide.
** It's also unavailable on the Portuguese Netflix, despite the fact that the original Voltron aired on Canal Panda, though it was eventually averted when it aired on Panda's sister channel Biggs.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** Creator/EricaLuttrell replaced Creator/AnikaNoniRose as the voice of Acxa from "Hole in the Sky" onwards. The latter voiced the character in the episodes "Red Paladin" and "The Hunted" before she departed to focus on the Creator/{{BET}} series ''The Quad''. Cherise Boothe did her sole line in "Kral Zera", given that she had a non-speaking role until then, and it was easier to use her than bring in Acxa's regular voice actress for just one line.
** Due to Creator/NormanReedus' busy schedule with ''Series/TheWalkingDead'', Tyler Rhoads voiced Rolo in his later appearances.
** Creator/KeithFerguson voiced Alfor in season 1, while Creator/SeanTeale voiced him in season 2 and 3.
** Creator/LaceyChabert voiced Romelle in the last episode of season six as Mimi Davila was unavailable for said episode.
** Creator/KimberlyBrooks voiced Ezor during her brief appearance in Season 8, presumably because it would be too expensive to have Kimiko Glenn reprise the role for only one line and due to the fact that Glenn was busy doing voice work for ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManIntoTheSpiderVerse'' and ''WesternAnimation/CarmenSandiego''.
** Lieutenant Hepta was voiced by Bill Millsap in season 3 and then by Creator/MatthewMercer in season 7.
** The Italian dub changed dubbing studio for the last two seasons, thus replacing the entire cast.
* PlayingAgainstType:
** Prior to voicing [[AntiHero Prince Lotor]], AJ Locascio was better known for voicing the heroic Marty [=McFly=] in ''VideoGame/BackToTheFutureTheGame''.
** While Mark Rolston is best known for playing villains (''Film/TheShawshankRedemption'', ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice2010''), Kolivan is one of his more heroic roles.
** Mindy Sterling's voice role as the honourable CoolOldLady Ryner is a far cry from her voice role as the JerkWithAHeartOfGold IronLady Lin Beifong in ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'', the {{Jerkass}} teachers she's played in kidcoms, and the SuddenlyShouting Frau Farbissina from the ''Film/AustinPowers'' movies.
** Ana Gasteyer, primarily known for her career in comedy, has a more serious role as Krolia.
** Chris Diamantopoulos, known to younger audiences as the current voice of WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse, has a more villainous role as Macidus.
** Blake Anderson's voice role as Matt is nowhere like his best known role in ''Series/{{Workaholics}}''.
* QueerCharacterQueerActor: Zethrid, who is in a relationship with Ezor (see Word of Gay below), is voiced by Creator/JamieGrayHyder, who has said that she has been in relationships with men and women but opts not to label her sexuality.
* ProductionPosse: The staff for the show is composed mostly of veterans from ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'' .
* {{Promoted Fanboy}}s: Lauren Montgomery, Creator/StevenYeun, Creator/JoshKeaton and Tyler Labine have mentioned being fans of the older series.
* RealLifeRelative: Two of Coran's younger forms as seen in the time loop are voiced by Rhys Darby's sons.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot:
** Keith being OutOfFocus in the majority of seasons 4 and 5 (as in joining the Blade of Marmora) was due to the fact that Creator/StevenYeun was busy shooting ''Mayhem'' and doing voice roles in both ''WesternAnimation/TheStar'' and ''WesternAnimation/StretchArmstrongAndTheFlexFighters''.
** Likewise Matt Holt was planned to be a significant character in the later seasons, but because Blake Anderson was busy with other projects at the time, he was written out of the second half of the show aside from a handful of cameos.
* RecursiveImport: It was [[http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2016/11/23/voltron-legendary-defender-coming-to-netflix-in-japan announced]] that a Japanese dub of the series is in the works while the original series was a {{Frankenslation}} of the anime ''Anime/GoLion'' (and a completely different show for Season 2 a la ''Anime/{{Robotech}}'').
* ReleaseDateChange:
** Season 2 was originally planned to air during Christmas 2016 but it was delayed to January 2017 in order to be released along with the toyline.
** Likewise, season 3 and 4 (when it was going to be one season) was planned to air during September 2017, but when the season was split into two, the first half that became season 3 was moved to a month earlier and the second half that became season 4 was moved to a month later.
* ShipSinking: As far as outside-the-show WordOfGod goes, the possibility of a [[FanPreferredCouple Keith/Lance]] romance happening was explicitly shot down in a 2017 SDCC interview with the showrunners.
* ShortRunInPeru: Season 6 debuted a day early in Portugal on Biggs, though as part of season 2 in terms of production (as season 3-6 is in fact the 26-episode second production season like season 1-2 is the 26-episode first production season), which prompted a [[https://vld-news.tumblr.com/post/174887368287/why-are-so-many-people-talking-about-leaks Tumblr post]] from vld-news to avoid posting spoilers from the Portugese airing a day before release.
* TimeshiftedActor: In the first half of "The Legend Begins", Creator/KevinDurand, Creator/SeanTeale and Creator/LilyRabe voices young adult versions of Zarkon, Alfor and Honerva, respectively.
* UnspecifiedRoleCredit: The credits at the end of the episodes do not list specific roles for each voice actor mentioned.
* WhyFandomCantHaveNiceThings: Largely stemming from the so-called "age discourse"[[note]]When the staff were asked about the paladins' ages at 2016 SDCC, Shiro was stated to be slightly older than the rest of the group, with a ballpark age in the twenties while the other boys are in their late teens, and Pidge is slightly younger. However, various other official sources then contradicted this, suggesting that this information was not fixed or set in stone[[/note]]:
** Due to the vague nature of the staff's stance on the paladins' ages and the fact that the show's ShipToShipCombat was already bitter to begin with, people who ship Keith with Lance rather than Shiro have reacted by calling fans of Sheith (as well as all other Shiro ships aside from Allura [[DoubleStandard even though Allura herself is confirmed to be about Keith's age]] and [[IncompatibleOrientation Shiro would never be interested in female characters since he is gay]]) supporters of pedophilia or actual pedophiles themselves as well. Some have even sent death threats and accusations of promoting pedophilia to Josh Keaton, Chris Palmer, and Creator/BexTaylorKlaus for making comments or jokes considered too sympathetic towards Sheith. Keaton made a [[https://twitter.com/joshkeaton/status/766122231558582272 tweet]] telling people to calm down and eventually [[https://twitter.com/TheTimHedrick/status/791351563285508096 head writer Tim Hedrick]] and [[https://twitter.com/LetsVoltron/status/790363259538968576 Let's Voltron]] both made statements telling people to chill out with the ship wars, though it appears to have little effect. In fact, Josh Keaton telling people to [[https://youtu.be/kGALurorTec?t=1h2m24s stop harassing each other over shipping]] led to angry fans harassing and threatening ''him'' in response, as well as also sending threats to his wife and children, to the point he [[http://joshkeaton.tumblr.com/post/171747748039/re-shipping-im-kind-of-between-a-rock-and-a-hard now refuses to comment on ships at all]].
** When Allura was confirmed to be in her teens rather than being an adult like Shiro, a number of more extreme Shiro/Allura shippers lashed out violently. They harassed the staff on Twitter claiming that Allura was deliberately "aged down" to make Keith/Allura happen, and even started a [[https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/vagueness-achieves-nothing petition demanding the showrunners release the characters' canonical ages]], claiming it was in the name of [[PaedoHunt combatting pedophilia]] and hoping the staff would reverse their comments about Allura being a teenager. Montgomery was later seen liking tweets critical of the Shallura shippers' behavior, and it's believed that their uproar over Allura's age was the last straw on the camel's back, leading to what animators have since described as a behind-the-scenes ban on sharing ship-centric artwork on social media.
** After one fan accidentally posted photos from a tour they took of Studio Mir, [[http://www.newnownext.com/voltron-legendary-defender-blackmail-studio-mir-klance/05/2017/ another separate fan attempted to hold the images as ransom to make their ship canon]]. While they were eventually persuaded to take the pictures down, it was likely that leaving the pictures up would have gotten Studio Mir into serious legal trouble, jeopardizing production of the show. At the least, it is unlikely they will give any more tours to fans in the future.
** At ECCC 2018, a fan recorded Jeremy Shada answering questions without his knowledge or consent and posted it online, claiming that he'd given away spoilers revealing that Klance would become canon. While he didn't, the answers he gave were more spoiler-y than they should have been, and Lauren Montgomery publicly responded in annoyance over the info being revealed. Even though the recording was taken down, likelihood is high that Jeremy will be in hot water due to the voice actors' NDA and there may be greater restrictions on staff attendance at fan events as a whole.
** Bex-Taylor Klaus has tweeted about canceling con appearances out of fear of harassment from unruly fans.
** The amount of backlash over the show's controversial finale led to the showrunners declaring that after a handful of interviews with Afterbuzz and ''Let's Voltron'', they would call it quits with the show and its fandom entirely.
* WordOfGay:
** The announcement of Shiro and Adam's past relationship at SDCC ultimately turned out to be this, as the exact nature of the relationship is never made explicitly clear in the show, and they would be regarded as AmbiguouslyGay were it not for the pre-release announcement.
** Blaytz, who was shown as AmbiguouslyGay in a scene where he appears to hit on a male Galra waiter, was confirmed as such on the official podcast.
** Creator/BexTaylorKlaus [[https://twitter.com/IBexWeBex/status/1028392089082417152 confirmed]] that Zethrid and Ezor were a couple in season 7.
* WordOfSaintPaul:
** During a Let's Voltron podcast after season 4, A.J. Locascio has [[http://aquaburst07.tumblr.com/post/166802369826/highlights-from-aj-locascio-and-neil-kaplan-lets said]] that Lotor would get along with both Keith and Allura, given their similar backgrounds. [[spoiler:This is partially borne out when he interacts with Allura in season 5, though not with Keith since he was CommutingOnABus away from Lotor at the time.]]
** Kimberly Brooks has said that Allura doesn't work well with kids.
** In another ''Den of Geek'' piece, they had [[http://www.denofgeek.com/us/tv/voltron/275233/voltron-actors-don-t-decide-canon/ a discussion about this regarding Lance and his milkshakes.]]
** Coran's voice actor Rhys Darby has said that [[https://youtu.be/TCwsjJZC24c?t=590s Lotor is still alive and trapped in the rift]]. Come season 8, and [[spoiler:Lotor is confirmed to be ''very'' dead.]]
** AJ Locascio said at Dragon Con 2019 that he believes the stars in the end of the show are Lotor and Allura, hinting that they ended up together after the conclusion.
* WrittenInAbsence: Keith's long absences from the plot were written in because of his voice actor Creator/StevenYeun being unavailable due to shooting ''Series/TheWalkingDead''.
* WordOfGod: While she has described it as a headcanon as in it's not canon to the show, Lauren Montgomery has [[https://lionsandpilotsandbots.com/2018/02/04/lauren-montgomerys-captain-olia-head-canon/ shared]] some info on the pictures seen in Captain Olia's ship.
** Lance was confirmed to be the [[TheBabyOfTheBunch youngest amongst his three siblings]], Marco, Luis, and Veronica, and he's also an uncle to his niece and nephew. He's also said to be a mestizo Cuban.
** WordOfGod material states that Lance isn't the brightest bulb in the pack.
** The showrunners have confirmed at ECCC 2018 that Keith will return to Team Voltron in season 6 after being OutOfFocus in season 4 and 5.
*** And apparently, Keith's expulsion from the Garrison has something to do with [[EyeScream Commander Iverson's left eye being perpetually closed]]. However flashbacks in the Season 7 premiere reveal this to have been a case of TrollingCreator.
** In an interview with Afterbuzz after season 5, they revealed that Honerva was pregnant with Lotor during flashbacks of "The Legend Begins" and that Lotor has a "daywalker" effect in addition to explaining that his quintessence-enhanced DNA is responsible for his youthful appearance and allowing him to age slower than an average Galra.
** In another interview after season 5, the showrunners confirmed that [[spoiler:Zarkon is definitely [[KilledOffForReal dead]]]].
** In a ''Hyperable'' [[https://www.hypable.com/voltron-executive-producer-interview-season-6/ interview]], Lauren Montgomery said [[spoiler:the Galra war continuing after Zarkon's death]] was influenced by ''Anime/{{Robotech}}''.
** In an [[http://ew.com/tv/2018/06/15/voltron-season-6-postmortem/ interview]] with ''Entertainment Weekly'', the showrunners said that [[spoiler:Lotor being revealed as EvilAllAlong in the four-part season six finale]] was intentional from the start as they wanted to fool audiences into thinking that [[spoiler:he becomes a good guy in vein of Zuko only to end up being a bad guy all along in vein of Azula]].
** In an [[http://www.letsvoltron.com/3d95e08c interview]] with ''Let's Voltron'', the showrunners explained about Matt's absence in season 6.
** In an [[http://comicbook.com/anime/2018/06/26/voltron-legendary-defender-alteans/ interview]] with ''Comic Book'', the showrunners confirmed fans will see more of the surviving Altean population in future storylines.
** The showrunners confirmed in a ''Den of Geek'' interview that Lotor's feelings for Allura were in fact genuine rather than predatory like in the [[Anime/{{Voltron}} original series]].
** Joaquim Dos Santos [[http://arahir.tumblr.com/post/176239581715/full-voltron-qa-transcription-q-can-you-guys confirmed]] to fans that another scene taking place during the time of the original Paladins would happen in season 8 and indeed, it happened.
** WordOfGod revealed that the heavily-criticized epilogues for the main characters were created as a direct result of the decision to give Shiro the above scene and that the original ending was supposed to be much more open in regard to the paths each of them took in their lives.

!!General
* [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerberos_(moon) Kerberos]] does, in fact, exist. However, this series depicts it as a large icy moon, while the real thing is an irregular shape about 12 miles across.
* Quintessence is actually a hypothesis of what dark energy could be.
* According to the Voltron Twitter, Voltron stands around 60 meters high, weighing 700 tons, while the individual lions when standing are 25 meters high.
* The show is the second longest-running Voltron series with 78 episodes as the combined total of both [[Anime/{{Voltron}} original (Lion Force) and Vehicle Voltron]] series is 124 episodes. That being said, it is six episodes more than the original series, which had 72 episodes (when not counting Vehicle Voltron's 52 episode run).
* This is one of the last projects to be voice directed by Andrea Romano, who announced her retirement in July 2017 after being diagnosed with optic neuropathy in one eye, which has caused blindness in that eye.
* "Blackout" is the 200th episode of the franchise, however if you count Fleet of Doom as an episode, then "Best Laid Plans" has this honour. If you count Fleet of Doom as two episodes or "The Rise of Voltron" as three episodes, then "Stayin' Alive" has this honour, but if you count both as episodes, then "The Belly of the Weblum" is this.
* In UK airing order from Pop, season 1 and 2 are considered to be one season due to the fact that season 2 was originally going to debut in December 2016 on Netflix. This is also the same airing order in Portugal when Biggs airs the show.
