Go To

* TheDanza: Jim Belushi as Jim.
** All of the members of Jim's band, save Andy, were all named after their actors, including Christopher Moniyhan as Chris, John Rubano as John, Mark Beltzman as Beltzman, Charlie Hartsok as Charlie & Tony Branaugel as Tony.
* DirectedByCastMember: Creator/JamesBelushi directed thirty episodes during the show's run. Creator/LarryJoeCampbell (Andy) directed seven and Creator/KimberlyWilliamsPaisley (Dana) directed five.
* TheOtherDarrin: When the Devil first appeared on the show, in "The Devil Went Down to Oak Park," he was played by Creator/JamesLipton. When he reappeared in the GrandFinale, he was now played by Creator/ErikEstrada.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes:
** This show hasn’t been on air for years after According to Jim ended on 2009 until Laff started rerunning it recently as 2018 or 2019.
** For a brief period in 2023, Amazon made the series free to watch for Prime subscribers. At the end of September, the series was pulled.
** The first five seasons were released on DVD by Lionsgate (then co-licensor of a number of other ABC Studios archive programming) and the last three weren't by the time the distribution deal with ABC expired.
* RealLifeRelative: Jim's real-life son Robert Belushi appeared in about eleven episodes - sometimes as an older version of Kyle. His daughter Jamison would also make occasional appearances as a random girl who'd snark at some form of misfortune a member of the cast might be experiencing.
* RecycledScript:
** "We Have a Bingo" and "Diamonds Are a Ghoul's Best Friend" have the same basic premise: Jim does something unethical to obtain something (cheats an old woman out of a mattress in bingo/buys jewelry from dead people). Then, when he tries to have sex later, he sees the face of the person he screwed over on Cheryl, disgusting him, and forcing him to make things right.
* YouLookFamiliar:
** As noted above, Jim's real-life son Robert appeared in several episodes as multiple characters, but occasionally as an older version of his fictional son Kyle. Likewise, daughter Jamison appeared in three episodes as different characters.
** Mark Beltzman appeared in "The Packer Ball" as a man in a sports store, before his recurring role as band member Beltzman.
** Bruce Jarchow appeared in several episodes, usually playing a Jerkass or ObstructiveBureaucrat.
** Jim's old SNL cast mate Tim Kazurinsky appeared in "The Toilet" and "Stalking Santa" as different characters. He also wrote the latter episode.
** Another SNL castmate, Mary Gross, played the instructor in a cooking class in "Paintball" and a neighbor in "Cheryl Goes to Florida."
** Charlie Hartsok played a number of minor roles in addition to his role as Charlie.
** Willie Amayke had a recurring role as one of Jim's employees, Willie but also appeared in other roles in different episodes.
