* ActingForTwo
** Mike Young portrays Albert Wesker, Deadpool, Thanos, and the guy in the 1997 park who learns about the then-impending release of the Platform/GameBoyColor through a video game magazine in Retro Assist Me, voices and does puppet work for Rocket Raccoon, and also does behind-the-scenes work with script writing and costume design.
*** Lampshaded in the Season 2 Finale where Wesker soundly beats Deadpool with Deadpool announcing his appearance with "Stunt Double!" and his defeat with "Ow! My stunt double!"
*** Lampshaded again when Mike himself announces the sale of several Assist Me costumes and props.
** Ben Shuman portrays Strider Hiryu, another park extra, Bruce Banner, and a Captain Commando nerd, voices and does stunt work for Taskmaster, and also does camera and grip work.
** Matthew Simmons portrays Doctor Doom and M.O.D.O.K., and is a suit actor for Taskmaster.
** Lyndsey Addison portrays S.T.A.R.S.!Jill, the bikini zombie at the beginning of the Chris arc, the hooker in the EVO 2012 special, yet another park extra, a sushi hostess (who gets brutalized by Wesker), and another Captain Commando nerd, and also does makeup.
** Max, the director, writer, and creator of the series, portrays himself and , and also does cinematography and lighting.
* Corpsing: The majority of the outtakes are result of the actors' inability to keep a straight face in all silliness that happens in the episode.
* TheDanza:
** For the Mortal Kombat X episodes, the LetsPlay/YoVideogames crew play exaggerated versions of themselves. Best seen with Simmons and Mike Young, who do not reprise their normal Marvel-related roles. When discussing the series, Max will refer to "the Max character" instead of saying "me".
** The Predator episode is a particular example since Kenny and Steve are extremely rude and dismissive towards Max, a far cry from the close friendship they have in real life.
* ExecutiveMeddling: Max revealed in "ASSIST ME has aged...TERRIBLY!?" that the reason why barely any Marvel characters showed up in Ultimate Assist Me was because Marvel tried to exert their ControlFreak tendencies on Max and his crew as they did to Capcom for Marvel's side of the roster. Among other things, Marvel demanded very specific lines, costumes and in-house actors if they were to show up on Ultimate Assist Me in any capacity. Max ultimately refused due to the obvious lack of creative freedom (and he personally thought Marvel's costumes were worse than even the show's own amateur Capcom costumes).
* RealLifeWritesThePlot:
** The reason Season 3 was never released is because the footage was lost when one of Max's computers died.
** As mentioned elsewhere, "Assist Me Infinite" didn't happen because of the game's poor reception and the massive backlash Max suffered for actually liking it.
** In one of "Decade in Review" videos, Max explained that he went with the VideoGame/ResidentEvil5 version of Jill (thus making her TheQuietOne for most of the video) was because her actress Spif Zaya was nervous about acting on camrea.
* ScheduleSlip: It's been a long-assed time since 's episode was teased.
* ScrewedByTheLawyers:
** Several years after the fact, Max revealed that Marvel was ridiculously restrictive with how he portrayed of Thanos in Retro Assist Me because they had something in the works for the character (which, in hindsight, obviously refers to the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse). They were reportedly very particular with the pronunciation of the character's name ("THAN-nos" rather than "THEY-nos") and eventually declared that Max wasn't allowed to show the character's face at all because they disliked the mask he had come up with, forcing extensive reshoots.
** Likewise, Max later revealed that he only ever did one Rap Battle video because the WebVideo/EpicRapBattlesOfHistory people threatened legal action, citing the fact that people might get confused and assume that Max's video was an official ERB.
* ThrowItIn: When Max was working on "Assist Me Injustice 2", he ordered some Batman gadgets from [=eBay=]...only for them to turn out to be toy-sized. He ended up writing this into the story, with Doom going through the exact same thing.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The series was supposed to have a continuation focusing on VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcomInfinite, but was axed after the game proved to be a disappointment. Max has teasingly remarked that if the "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" rumorNamely, that Capcom will try to "redeem" Infinite by taking what worked, getting rid of what didn't, and releasing it as a new iteration of the [=MvC=] series becomes true, he'll probably do a short "Assist Me Endgame" with himself as Doctor Strange telling Iron Man (Steve) about the one-in-fourteen million, six hundred and five chance of saving Infinite.
** In a 2020 livestream, Max revealed that he and Simmons had thought about doing a MusicalEpisode spoofing WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast...with Doom playing Belle and Nemesis as the Beast. Unfortunately the Nemesis costume would have been prohibitively expensive so the plan had to be scrapped.
