11	** Ayato Naoi is even worse. He started off as an enemy of the group, who [[TyrantTakesTheHelm took over]] as StudentCouncilPresident after [[NiceJobBreakingItHero the SSS managed to depose Angel]], proceeding to torment [=NPCs=], use said [=NPCs=] as human shields and trying to use hypnosis and manipulation to get Yuri to pass on. After Otonashi gets through to him and convince him that his life had meaning, Naoi undergoes a HeelFaceTurn, but makes it clear that he has utter contempt for all of his new colleagues besides Otonashi. The others don't hesitate to let him know that the feeling's mutual, but Yuri sees his hypnotic abilities as useful for restoring Otonashi's memory, making him a case of Necessity.
12	* ''Manga/AzumangaDaioh'': Yomi is best friends with Tomo, though their other classmates [[WhatDoesSheSeeInHim wonder WHY]], since all Tomo does is cause trouble for them, [[ItAmusedMe for her own amusement]]. When they ask during Episode 4, Yomi tries to think of a reason, only to end up asking herself ''the same question''! It seems to be a combination of seniority and proximity, as Yomi also mentions at one point that they've been getting stuck in the same homeroom together for almost every year since grade school.
13	* ''Manga/BloomIntoYou'' has Doujima, who comes off as fairly annoying and generally unable to take things seriously, resulting in most of his colleagues on the Student Council disliking him. That said, he came well-recommended by the previous StudentCouncilPresident (who had a tendency to delegate tasks to others), so Doujima's usefulness makes him a case of Necessity.
14	* Since the pilots in ''Manga/{{Bokurano}}'' have to stick together because of their contract, they have to tolerate disliked members out of Necessity.
15	** Ushiro is widely disliked for [[BigBrotherBully his tendency to hit his younger sister Kana when he loses his temper]]. Among the few exceptions are Ushiro's long-time friend Kanji (who doesn't hesitate to snark at Ushiro or push his buttons), the similarly disliked Kodama (who admires the fact that Ushiro [[spoiler:apparently killed Waku by accident]]), Kana ([[LoveMartyr who endures the abuse out of love for Ushiro]]), and Machi (who eventually falls in love with Ushiro, having noticed him because he doesn't fit in).
16	** Kodama is probably even worse. He's a sociopathic boy whose EstablishingCharacterMoment in the anime is to burn a beached crab to death with a sparkler, then rationalize his act by saying that it's no different from eating meat. Unsurprisingly, some of the characters find him ''even worse than Ushiro''.
17	** Kako is also quite unpopular, due to his volatile nature, his somewhat creepy behavior toward Chizu and being overall unpleasant. In the manga, [[spoiler:hardly anyone mourns his death when Chizu stabs him in the throat (despite being shocked at the act itself), although Chizu suggests that they're getting desensitized to their members dying]]. That said, in the anime, Ushiro, of all people, expresses pity for Kako immediately before Ushiro's turn to fight.
18	* Both Li's took turns as this in ''Anime/CardcaptorSakura'', both Syaoran and later Meiling starting off competitive, arrogant and intimidating rivals. [[AllLovingHero Sakura]] struggles to be contemptuous about it however, and is kind to them despite their abrasiveness towards her, something that wins them over and makes them softer, more genuine friends.
19	* ''Manga/DadTheBeardGorillaAndI'' has Katou -- one of Kouichi's colleagues -- an obnoxious, entitled GreenEyedMonster who annoys his coworkers by his constant complaints about his lack of (romantic) success and jealousy towards those with better luck than himself. The others would still invite him whenever their department has an outing for solidarity's sake, but the rest of his colleagues would rather not hang out with him when they want to have a more private get-together.
20	* ''Anime/{{Daimos}}'': Sakamori Miwa. All of Daimovic hate him and only work with him out of necessity. It's shown that initially, he was respected as a colleague of Shin'ichiro in their eyes, but his extreme racism and allegations of treachery towards Kazuya made them realize that he's too irrational to be trusted and unfit for his position as a UN member.
21	* '' Manga/DailyLivesOfHighSchoolBoys'': Habara is a mix of proximity and supervision. She is shown to be a textbook generic GirlNextDoor, but her past as the Archdemon still haunts her. No one in her age group can [[ReformedButRejected forgive and forget]] what a terrible bully she was, especially Toshiyuki. One of Habara's only friends, Yanagin, admits to becoming a self-imposed MoralityPet in case she has a relapse. One of the boys she used to bully even suggested she should move out of town.
22	* ''Anime/{{Daltanious}}'': Princess Catine is a RichBitch who bars Kento's friends from her fancy dinner parties for not being of RoyalBlood like him, and also [[TheLoad puts herself in danger on purpose]] to get his attention. Her horrible attitude and refusal to take no for an answer earns her the ire of Kento's friends. When she finally leaves, Ochame yells at her to never come back ever again.
23	* ''Manga/DeathNote'' has Higuchi from the Yotsuba Group's Death Conference members. He often shows his arrogance despite being not as competent and smart as six of the other seven members, leading him to be disliked by his co-workers. Namikawa, Mido and Shimura conclude from his bad personality that [[spoiler:he is the Kira among them. They are right]].
24	* In ''Manga/DemonSlayerKimetsuNoYaiba'', saying "friends" is a bit much since demons by nature in the setting are specifically stated to be unable to get along, but the Twelve Kizuki Demon group is an organized system with the members having the minimal sense of tolerance towards each other, on a good day. Doma's situation, however, is quite notable in that no other demon is shown to have any level of acquaintanceship towards him, nor he was at least begrudgingly praised for doing something useful, such as Gyokko and Hantengu who aren't particularly liked either but were considered useful by Muzan - Gyokko for his vases and both for their findings at the Swordsmith Village. Doma's insincere persona really rubbed his demon companions the wrong way, extremely so as even the sadism Muzan appreciates so much in demons (like Gyutaro) is completely overlooked in Doma's case, the 2nd Fanbook states Muzan never cared about Doma in any way, even with Doma trying to make Muzan another figure of worship in his cult.
25	* Gian in ''Franchise/{{Doraemon}}'' is this due to Proximity (he lives in the same neighborhood as the other main characters), Fear (he's both TheDreaded and TheBully with a HairTriggerTemper among the kids in the neighborhood, so the last thing any of the kids want to do is to get on his bad side), and, deep down, Caring (he does care for the well-being of the kids he interacts with, deep down, and vice versa -- on his good days, that is).

27	** Vegeta falls into this during the Android arc due to most of the cast fearing him, with the exception of Bulma (who had his baby) and Goku (who's [[EasilyForgiven more of the forgiving sort]] and actually likes having a rival like Vegeta around). Even his son, Trunks, spends about as much time berating him as he did seeking his approval. It's so bad that whenever Vegeta gets hurt, no one is in any hurry to heal him, even when he's demanding it. And when he first went Super Saiyan, the entire main cast all but groaned. After getting beaten unconscious by Cell, Krillin says point-blank that he didn't really care if he dies and is only doing this because Trunks believes in him. He lightens up slightly as time goes on, though he never quite grows out of it; the other fighters are more comfortable having him around but his arrogant personality still puts him off most of the cast. Hell, even in ''Dragon Ball Minus'' Vegeta's fellow Saiyans didn't seem to like him too much. Bardock calls him a pain in the neck partner when he learns Raditz is paired up with him.
28	** Chi-Chi is a donwplayed version of this trope. While the other characters don't hate Chi-Chi and they consider her a good friend of theirs, they don't seem to enjoy her company due to her anger issues. On the flip side, they do understand that she does mean well and that most of her freak-outs are due to her concern for her child Gohan being in dangerous situations.
29	* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' has [[DirtyCoward Yoki]], who starts out as a villain of the week, but through happenstance, [[HeelFaceTurn joins up with the good guys.]] However, his cowardly, unpleasant nature makes him [[ButtMonkey the butt of everyone's jokes,]] [[spoiler: particularly when a helpless Envy tries to take him as hostage, but everyone convinces Envy they won't care if he dies]]. He ''does'' prove himself useful at a couple of points, but it's still pretty telling that Ed and Al ''[[ForgottenFirstMeeting forgot he even existed]]'' when they first run into him again.

Whereas most of the other club members, despite being {{otaku}}, generally don't have much trouble functioning in public, Kuchiki seems mentally unable to grasp the basics of social interaction and what is acceptable in public (for example, singing anime theme songs in the middle of a restaurant, while being HollyWoodToneDeaf).

But, as the leader, the other members have no choice but to work with him. 32	* In ''[[Manga/YuushaGojoKumiaiKouryuugataKeijiban Hero Union BBS]]'', Legal Loli is a permanently youthful, immortal hero known around the forum for her obnoxious attitude. The other retired heroes become visibly annoyed when she loudly barges into a thread.
33	* ''Anime/HelloSandybell'': Alec Peterson is a HotBlooded {{Jerkass}} with a DarkAndTroubledPast that left him jaded towards the world. His abrasive personality has resulted in him not being very well-liked amongst the other reporters, but he doesn't care and still vows to best them at Ronwood's Newspaper company.

37	** Prussia fills this role due to how obnoxious he is towards everyone around him, particularly Austria and Hungary. The person who tolerates him the most is Germany, who is in a constant state of exasperation with him and despite being Prussia's younger brother, acts more like an older brother and caretaker towards him.
38	* Ging Freecss (Gon's dad) in ''Manga/HunterXHunter'' is this to the vast majority of the Hunter Organization. He's highly regarded and admired for his skills and knows most, if not all of them on a personal level, and every single one of them can immediately agree that his irresponsible nature makes him a colossal pain in the ass. Leorio punching Ging and calling him out for being a [[DisappearedDad terrible father]] garners Leorio enough support with the Hunters to ''almost win the Chairman Election'' (and he didn't even intend to enter!). Among the Zodiacs, he's held in only slightly higher regard than their TokenEvilTeammate Pariston.

40	** Santana, the first [[OurVampiresAreDifferent Pillar Man]] Joseph fights in ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureBattleTendency Battle Tendency]]'', is this to the rest of the Pillar Men, who choose to mock him after learning of his defeat and capture, and show no interest in rescuing him.
41	** ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStardustCrusaders Stardust Crusaders]]'' has Iggy, a Stand-using dog that the Speedwagon Foundation brings to join the protagonists in Egypt. Having been brought there against his will, he's not at all happy about helping out, biting his companions, farting in their faces and even abandoning them to the enemy. Avdol warns Joseph that Iggy is uncooperative, Polnareff finds Iggy rather annoying, and Jotaro threatens to kill Iggy unless he helps him glide over to N'Doul. This only leaves Kakyoin, who's hospitalized for much of the group's time in Egypt, and Joseph, who requested that Iggy be brought over. However, in the end, Polnareff comes to care for Iggy, especially after Iggy finds the way to Dio's mansion, and [[spoiler:Iggy performs a HeroicSacrifice to save Polnareff despite Polnareff insisting that Iggy save himself]].
42	** ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureDiamondIsUnbreakable Diamond is Unbreakable]]'':
43	*** Toshikazu Hazamada, an unstable jerk who used his [[FightingSpirit Stand]] to [[EyeScream rip out his friend's eye]] [[DisproportionateRetribution over a disagreement about manga]] and, according to what Rohan reads from him using Heaven's Door, tortures animals and children and had planned to rape one of his classmates using his Stand. The only person willing to give him the time of day is Koichi, and even then it's mostly over a shared interest in Rohan's manga. Even ''his own Stand'' doesn't like him.
44	*** Rohan Kishibe, even after performing a HeelFaceTurn and joining the group to hunt down Kira, still absolutely hates Josuke, and Josuke and Okuyasu still think he's pretty creepy and insufferable and hard to be around. About the only people he gets along with is Koichi, who he tried to ''kill'' pre-HeelFaceTurn and was still a little uncomfortable around him for quite a while, and Joseph Joestar. Rohan even admits the only reason he puts up with Josuke was due to his connection to Koichi and Joseph.
45	*** Shigekiyo "Shigechi" Yanguu, though Josuke and Okuyasu tolerate him, they still find him despicable and don't trust him. They'd previously collaborated with Shigechi on a get-rich-quick scheme, but found that Shigechi was willing to try to con them out of their fair share despite the fact that they promised him the money, and tried to kill them over a lottery ticket. Despite this, [[spoiler: Shigechi's death is the catalyst that gets Josuke's team to start fighting back against [[BigBad Kira]] -- he may be a brat, but he was still just a kid and didn't deserve to go out like that]].

Rather tellingly, her question during the 10 yen game was asking if the others found her useless and annoying (for the record, all of them answered no).

It's not that she is disliked per se, as she is still considered a good friend, especially by Kaguya who she has known since middle school even before [[LoveInterest Shirogane]]). But her flighty, unpredictable, and even occasionally manipulative nature makes the others extremely weary of dealing with her, and thus they tend to leave her out of more serious matters if possible. The only one who has a real positive opinion about Fujiwara is the aforementioned Iino, who looks up to her as a role model, and even then, the others note that their relationship is more that of a DomesticAbuser and their victim since Iino is in denial of any of Fujiwara's rather obvious faults. 53	* Haruo Niijima from ''Manga/KenichiTheMightiestDisciple''. He's a self-proclaimed evil genius, and is cowardly and manipulative. Even his "friends" often wonder why the heck they tolerate his presence. The only person who seems to genuinely like having him around is the resident {{Cloudcuckoolander}} Siegfried, everyone else was bullied, blackmailed, or otherwise manipulated into joining him... but at least he's good with information and a capable strategist, so he does make himself quite useful.

55	** Najimi started out as one of Tadano's old classmates, a trait which has carried over to the later school years, allowing them to join as one of Komi's first-ever friends. As a result, they get treated as an inconvenience at worse and Tadano has grown more and more exasperated with dealing with them, which has clearly carried over to their peers.

As a result, she only ''just'' managed to enter Komi's growing friendship circle, but Yamai's violent and possessive behavior has since made both Tadano and Komi more reluctant to deal with her than they were with Najimi, while most of her peers alienate her outright and leave her with few friends outside of diehard fans of Komi.

60	** The entire core cast of ''Literature/KonoSuba'' is this in ''Anime/IsekaiQuartet'' as their {{Jerkass}}ness gets on everyone else's nerves. Between Kazuma tanking a possible friendship with [[Literature/ReZero Subaru Natsuki]] upon finding out about his life (and not being aware of [[BlessedWithSuck how sucky]] Subaru's life [[TraumaCongaLine really is]]), pissing off [[Literature/TheSagaOfTanyaTheEvil Tanya von Degurechaff]] with his intention to be TheLoad on field day, and his refusal to leave their new world pissing ''everyone'' off (Aqua, Darkness, and Megumin included); Aqua's usual self-absorbed idiocy and her attempts to attack the cast of ''Literature/Overlord2012''[[note]]Which is a bigger problem than you might expect; [[HolyBurnsEvil her holy magic is legitimately dangerous to the undead]]. Even [[PhysicalGod an undead as monstrously powerful as Ainz]].[[/note]]; and Darkness's tendency for being TooKinkyToTorture being [[EveryoneHasStandards too much for the other series' cast]] ([[EvenEvilHasStandards including the aforementioned]] ''{{Villain Protagonist}}s'' of ''Overlord'' and ''Youjo Senki''). Megumin doesn't seem to have as much problems with fitting in, seeing as she has struck up a friendship with Pandora's Actor in Season 2, due to being {{Chuunibyou}} [[LargeHam large hams]].
61	* In ''Anime/LoveLive'', Nico joins the group largely due to Necessity (she's the president of the existing Idol Club, so unless they let her join in that capacity they can't use the club room), and while she doesn't contribute a whole lot to the group and tends to be an egotistical AttentionWhore, it transitions into Caring fairly quickly when they find out [[FreudianExcuse why she's like that.]]

Late into the series, however, he got his breakout episode where he [[spoiler:had a love interest only to see her die in the next episode]]. After this, he became a more sympathetic character. His cameo appearances in ''Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam'' definitely showed a more mature Kai.

His HairTriggerTemper, tendency to badmouth everyone and forget their names, and general NoSocialSkills, ostracizes him from much of the cast, with Kirishima, [[NiceGirl Uraraka]] and [[NiceGuy Midoriya]] being the only exceptions. This is starting to change thanks to CharacterDevelopment, however, such as Jiro practically begging Bakugo to perform with her during the School Festival, which she probably wouldn't have asked him to do at the beginning of the manga. In Midoriya's case, it seems to be a mix of Seniority, since they've known each other since they were little, and Caring.
67	** [[DirtyKid Mineta]] is even worse in this regard. Though he gets along somewhat with Kaminari (the only other guy in class who [[AllMenArePerverts behaves like him]]) and to a lesser extent with Midoriya and Tsuyu (although the latter doesn't hesitate to smack him with her tongue if he gets out of line), his classmates see him as a nuisance at best, and spend most of their interactions with him in PervertRevengeMode.
68	** Aoyama is usually treated as a minor annoyance. No one takes his SmallNameBigEgo seriously, and a few of the class members often [[ButtMonkey poke fun at him]] to due his AwesomeButImpractical Quirk (which, admittedly, is partly due to a birth defect). Class 1-A does ultimately prove that they care about him when they come to his and Iida's rescue during the Hero Licensing Exam. Some time later, he and Midoriya strike up a friendship over how their Quirks harm their own bodies. Interestingly enough, [[spoiler:after he's revealed as the traitor in Class 1-A, as a result of All For One forcing his family to do his bidding in exchange for giving Yuga his Quirk, the entire class is willing to forgive Aoyama.]]

While for the most part he's fairly normal and gets along well with his classmates, whenever he gets near a Class 1-A member, it usually falls to Kendo to DopeSlap him and drag him off before he can embarrass them more than he already has.
70	** Mei Hatsume, a Support Course student who was one of the few non-Hero Course students to make it past the first round of the Sports Festival, is this to Iida and Uraraka after the U.A. Sports Festival Arc. Iida dislikes her because she used him as a guinea pig for her inventions during their match in the finals, while Uraraka is often annoyed by her for [[ClingyJealousGirl getting too close to Midoriya (the guy Uraraka likes)]]. Midoriya doesn't spend much time with Hatsume unless he needs her to upgrade his costume, making her a case of Necessity, but he gets along reasonably well with her, partly due to him being impressed with her inventions and often going to her specifically for new gear.

76	* Naofumi, the titular Shield Hero in ''Literature/TheRisingOfTheShieldHero''. Right from the start he gets [[DudeWheresMyRespect no respect]] due to the reputation of the Shield Hero (both within the setting, and in the counterpart games each of the other three Heroes are familiar with) being the "loser's class"; [[StoneWall all defense and no offense.]] And then Malty and the King enact their plan to [[FromBadToWorse crush his already abysmal reputation,]] turning him in the eyes of the public and the other three Heroes from an ignorant loser that nobody wants to associate with to a disgusting (falsely accused) rapist whose irrevocable status as the Shield Hero is the only thing keeping him from being put to death.

Even the King ended up being told to his face that there's nothing stopping Naofumi from simply killing him in his own throne room when he was hypocritical enough to demand to know how he got so strong in spite of the latter [[TheMillstone going out of his way to handicap him]].
80	*** Lastly, Naofumi ends up having about as much attachment as you'd expect to a country that's been treating him like crap since the beginning, and was about ready to bail with his party before Queen Mirelia had forcefully rectified the situation and literally ''begged'' him to stay.

Aoi considers Friend A loud and annoying, and Friend A has an unfortunate tendency to call Tatsuki an "aspie" whenever Tatsuki spaces out, since Friend A doesn't know what the term means or that Tatsuki has Asperger's. When Tatsuki has a one-on-one meeting with Aoi, Aoi says she's glad to not have "Friend A" around, and Tatsuki laughs and agrees.

They soon grow weary of her, because she only impeded [[LaResistance SOX]]'s [[YourTerroristsAreOurFreedomFighters efforts]] by treating ero-terrorism [[CoolPeopleRebelAgainstAuthority as a game]]. Hyouka is the only one to not be fooled by Kousuri's act and plainly calls her on it; making it clear she doesn't think highly of her either.

That's only ''half'' of the equation, however, as despite being an intelligent man Yuri is ''hopelessly obsessed'' with his older sister and is openly disdainful about her being with Loid and Anya (the one reason he doesn't try anything funny against either of them is because he knows it would make Yor unhappy). As such, both of them hold him in quiet contempt, while his own coworkers in the SSS only give him minimal respect despite his rank based on what little competency is still untainted by his obsession for Yor. In fact, even Yor herself doesn't think too highly of his antics, particularly when he gets Loid involved (it doesn't really help that most of his words towards Loid tend to be demeaning insults). It also doesn't help that his obsession devolves him into outright manchild antics that make ''Anya'' of all characters seem mature (and there is nothing ''remotely'' adult-like about Anya).
99	** On the other side of the coin is Fiona Frost, codename Agent Nightfall, another <WISE> agent who works for the same agency as Loid/Twilight, having been taught in the occupation by the man himself. This leads to half of why she falls under this trope; she is ''obsessively in love with Twilight'', and almost ''all'' of her actions are centered around the selfish goal of having him all to herself, the mission and risk of total war be damned. The second half is because, despite Twilight openly telling her ''not'' to do this, Nightfall bottled up ''all'' of her emotions and became an apathetic and pragmatic IceQueen who would sooner ditch any pre-chosen partner in favor of her sole love interest. This means that above all else, she'll prioritize any mission she is given and treat the lives of innocents involved as a secondary concern, such as putting Anya through the depths of hell to become a top academic student (a scenario which has thankfully never come to pass so far). This obviously makes Anya outright ''hostile'' when it comes to the woman, while none of the other <WISE> Agents regard her highly due to her attitude. To put the cherry on top, her poor parental potential meant that to begin with, Nightfall was never in the running to be partnered with Twilight in his family mission, which even the man himself quietly admits.
100	* Miu Matsuoka in ''Manga/StrawberryMarshmallow''. She's usually only included because she's Chika's oldest friend and next-door neighbor, although exceptions exist. Due to the lighthearted nature of the series, though, it's only really a recurring element for comic relief; if subjects get serious or Miu suddenly needs medical attention, the other girls (and notably both Nobue and Chika, who are the most aggravated with Miu) drop their displeasure of her to make sure she's ok.
101	** The trope even comes to a head somewhat early on (and before a lot of other anti-Miu stuff comes up) when Miu gets fed up with Nobue treating the other girls better than her and demands to know where she fits in Nobue's totem pole. The answer Nobue gives, which was apparently supposed to be facetious, leaves Miu in tears. Nobue fixes it that night, by morning everything is back to normal, and the subject is never brought up again.

Throughout the several years in which the manga takes place, Saori has gone through stages of either being a moody, sarcastic jerk or having everyone be nice to her. By the end of the manga, she's become a nicer person and is good friends with the others.
103	* Nozomu "[[ChaoticStupid Baka]]" Tanaka from ''Manga/WastefulDaysOfHighSchoolGirls'' elicits this from even her close friends Ota and Robo, who don't particularly like her, and eventually extends to most of her other classmates. She's a royal pain in the ass to most of the people that meet her.

Although, he quickly [[CharacterDevelopment evolves]] into a SitcomArchNemesis for Yotsuba (and later even FriendlyEnemy) and his antics don't trigger more than mild annoyance in other characters. Also partially {{justified\|Trope}}, as he's a coworker and kohai of Yotsuba's father.
105	* Played with in ''Manga/YuGiOh''. Kaiba considers Yugi a worthy opponent and Yugi does consider him a friend, but he expresses indifference and disdain to everyone else in Yugi's group, and in Jonouchi's case there's a mutual hatred between them.
106	* In ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'', the group is friends with Manjoume, even though no one really likes him at first due to his [[ArrogantKungFuGuy arrogant attitude]], although [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold he means well.]] However, after getting CharacterDevelopment and becomes more mature, the group start to genuinely like him, and even before that, [[AllLovingHero Judai]] has always considered him a friend.
107	* ''Anime/YuriOnIce'' has Jean-Jacques, because of his boisterous attitude and AwesomeEgo, the other skaters can hardly stand him, to the point that, when everybody is having a get together and J.J. shows up, they all leave the party.
108	* ''Anime/ZombielandSaga'' has Kotaro Tatsumi, the girls' [[MeanBoss bossy]], completely over-the-top producer and agent. Even though he has shown to be capable of being kind, such as comforting Junko and steadfastly defending Lily in their focus episodes, he regularly levels exaggerated verbal abuse at them, with them responding in kind whenever they feel he goes too far. The only reason they keep him around is they have no other choice, since he brought them BackFromTheDead and is keeping them from being sent back there by panicking humans, making him a case of Necessity. Though by the second season, it is safe to say the Caring is now part of the equation, as they're all deeply concerned when he enters a depressive slump and try to help him.
