->'''Brücke:''' Have you never wanted to take a step back, so you could look at it? Never imagined that this might be, say, a doorway?\
'''Langford:''' A doorway?

''Stargate Origins'' is a {{Prequel}} series in the Franchise/StargateVerse, and the fourth canonical series, following ''[[Series/StargateSG1 SG-1]]'', ''[[Series/StargateAtlantis Atlantis]]'', and ''[[Series/StargateUniverse Universe]]''. It consists of ten [[{{Webisode}} webisodes]], each about ten minutes long. The first three episodes were released on February 14, 2018, with the remaining episodes released weekly thereafter.

[[Film/{{Stargate}} In 1928]], archaeologist Paul Langford (Creator/ConnorTrinneer) unearthed an unusual artifact in Egypt: a giant stone ring, about twenty feet in diameter, with hieroglyphs not matching ancient Egyptian. Ten years later, he and his daughter Catherine (Creator/EllieGall) have made no more headway in understanding the object, but SS occultist Wilhelm Brücke (Creator/AylamOrian) knows what it really is, and plans to use it to help the Nazi cause. The Langfords must team up with British officer James Beal (Creator/PhilipAlexander) and local guide Wasif (Creator/ShvanAladdin) to stop him.

MGM announced the new series at SDCC in July 2017, in conjunction with a new streaming platform, Stargate Command, which has since gone offline.
----
!!''Stargate Origins'' provides examples of:

* ActionGirl: Catherine rescues herself, drives to James and Wasif while still bound, pistol whips her would-be captor, then takes charge to dial the gate and save her father.
* BullyingADragon: Brücke ordered a soldier to take a Goa'uld prisoner. It goes as well as you might expect.
* CassandraTruth: Brücke is absolutely right about the stargate and the Goa'uld, despite Langford's increasingly outlandish theories as to what's going on. Catherine also struggles to explain to James and Wasif what happened.
* ContinuityNod: Many to the film and early ''SG-1'':
** The ground shakes when the gate is dialed.
** Travelers exit the wormhole cold and covered in a thin layer of frost.
** Catherine still has the Eye of Ra pendant. She'll eventually give it to Daniel Jackson. Both of them are mistaken for agents of Ra by Kasuf because of the pendant.
** Catherine is the one to break off the seventh symbol on the cartouche depicting the gate address for Earth; when Daniel found this same cartouche in his original trip to Abydos, he assumed that the seventh symbol had been worn off over time rather than deliberate action.
** The Germans used a Jeep to provide enough energy to dial the gate. Thirty years later, [[Recap/StargateSG1S2E211969 a time-displaced SG-1]] will use the exact same technique.
** Brücke hints that the Nazis have a DHD in Berlin. We know that [[Recap/StargateSG1S4E7Watergate it will eventually end up with the Russians]], then destroyed in [[Recap/StargateSG1S5E1448Hours an attempt to save Teal'c's life]].
* CreepyCrossdresser: The Nazi who was supposed to guard Catherine ends up wearing her underwear.
* DownerEnding: Ra returns to Abydos, and prevents Catherine and co. from making a clean escape. [[spoiler:James is killed, along with Aset and nearly all of the Abydonian villagers. Wasif and Motawk survive but are brainwashed into becoming Horus Guards, Kasuf survives but is also brainwashed into returning to Nagada and has his memories of meeting the Earthlings erased, and Catherine and her father survive and return to Earth, but also have their memories of the journey erased, and a lack of funding means their study of the Stargate will go on hold for several more years.]]
* [[invoked]] EngagingChevrons: Averted. Brücke does not count out the chevrons when the Germans dial the gate. When Catherine, James, and Wasif dial later, Catherine uses BuffySpeak to point out what to dial.
-->'''Catherine:''' Okay James, that one by your left foot? That one there. You need to move that one that kind of looks like a "Y", clockwise.
* FailedASpotCheck: Brücke has to point out to Langford the obvious signs that the pyramid they gated to is still in use and home to an actual society, such as curtains.
* ForegoneConclusion: Professor Langford, Catherine, and Kasuf will all survive (as the Professor will oversee transport of the Stargate to the United States and Catherine and Kasuf will be still be alive by the time of the original feature film). Likewise, ''something'' will happen to make them forget about these events (as the elderly Catherine has no memory of Abydos, nor does the older Kasuf recall encountering the Tau'ri when Daniel Jackson, Jack O'Neill, and their team arrive decades later). Catherine and Beal will not get together, or at least it won't last, because Catherine is engaged to Ernest when he's lost through the Stargate, some years later.
* HeroicBSOD: Langford, when he realizes how wrong he was about the Stargate.
* HypocriticalHumor: James and Wasif are understandably nervous at traveling through the gate, and Catherine has to exasperatedly push them through. Once it's her turn, she too has to steel herself before crossing the event horizon.
* ALighterShadeOfBlack: Aset may be as power-hungry as any other Goa'uld -- but she genuinely loves her Harcesis, seems to be quite well regarded by the Abydonians, isn't into sadism as much as her contemporaries (her breaking the Wand of Horus seems to be motivated by a desire to not look weak in front of Brücke rather than genuine malice) and when she discovers Catherine is Langford's daughter [[spoiler:mindwipes them both instead of killing them in recognition of their family bond).]]
* NoNameGiven: "Goa'uld" and "Jaffa" are never said in ''Origins'', despite it being obvious what Ra, Aset, and Aset's warriors are, to anyone familiar with ''SG-1''. Of course, this is more a prequel to the original movie, where many SG-1 given terms didn't exist.
* OutOfTheClosetIntoTheFire: Wasif is revealed to be gay near the end of the story, and enters a relationship with the Abydonian Motawk. Both of them are [[spoiler:brainwashed into becoming Horus Guards for Ra]] almost immediately afterward.
* RuggedScar: Brücke has one on his left temple.
* SchmuckBait: To prove that the wormhole is safe, Brücke asks a soldier to perform a Sieg Heil salute in front of the gate, then pushes his hand into the event horizon.
* SoapOperaRapidAgingSyndrome: Downplayed. In "[[Recap/StargateSG1S1E10TheTormentOfTantalus The Torment of Tantalus]]", Catherine says that she was twenty-one during the experiments in 1945. ''Origins'' takes place c. 1938–39, but she's clearly not 14–15 years old (dating a British Army officer, and played by 21-year old Ellie Gall). Granted, the original ''Stargate'' film portrayed her being about ten years old in 1928, so there was always a timeline problem with Catherine's age anyway.
* StupidJetpackHitler: Brücke's plan, to travel through the stargate and forge an alliance between the Nazis and the god-like aliens who used to rule humanity.
* ThoughtTheyKnewAlready: When Wasif reveals that he can understand some of what the Abydonians are saying because he's Egyptian, Catherine asks why he didn't tell them earlier. Wasif replies that him being Egyptian should have been obvious, but Catherine clarifies that she meant why he didn't tell them that he could understand some of what their captors were saying.
* TimeshiftedActor: Ellie Gall portrays Catherine Langford in place of several actresses (most notably Elizabeth Hoffman and Creator/VivecaLindfors). Connor Trinneer also replaces Erik Holland and Duncan Fraser as Professor Langford.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: The Abydonians regard Aset as their friend, implying she's not nearly as barbaric about their treatment as other Goa'uld. Even after she breaks the Wand of Horus, they blame Brücke for making her wicked.
* WouldHitAGirl: Brücke has no problem slapping Catherine, despite his promise to her father.
