Orihime gives him the confidence to rescue Rukia by pointing out he's the type to do what's right and sort the consequences out later and, when Ichigo discovers Byakuya was stuck between upholding the rules and doing what's right and chose to uphold the rules, he tells Byakuya that he should have done what's right. He earns Byakuya's UndyingLoyalty as a result.
11	** Ukitake and Kyouraku destroy the device that'll execute Rukia, knowing that it's breaking Soul Society law and will trigger a fight to the death between themselves and their mentor and commander, Yamamoto. They do so anyway, but are fortunately reconciled with Yamamoto when the truth about Aizen comes out.
12	** Yamamoto himself finally finds a reason to break the laws of Soul Society. He takes in plenty of Nora (who are often despised by gods and shinki) and treats them kindly and in turn, they are loyal to him. The new commander says that, because they had broken the law by saluting pirates, he and his men would all have no food for a week. None of the Marines appeared to mind at all.

69	* ''Anime/TenchiMuyoGXP'': Seina does this in order to save [[spoiler: Fuku, who is part of the Kamidake's control system, under Galaxy Army custody.]] He attempts to contact the Army in order to stop [[spoiler: Fuku's unjust abduction]], but the Commander tells him to just buzz off, as he is both no longer the captain of the Kamidake, but also [[spoiler: unknowningly has his post and rank stripped from him.]] Unbelievably, NB, who is [[TheScrappy usually known to be a pain in everyone's ass]], turns out to be quite helpful since he's the one that told Seina, who is able to [[spoiler: track them]] using a shuttle to [[spoiler: pursue the under-custody-commandeered Kamidake, to use the hyperdrive, much to Seina's surprise since one of the girls said it doesn't have one, NB says that "Women like to keep secrets", and this is after his unwanted counterpart had "some fun" with him, putting his usual perverted-self [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness into a somber state]], which ends up helping Seina a great deal.]] Turns out he's right to [[spoiler: pursue them, as the Galaxy Army's Commander is in cahoots with [[TheDreaded Tarant]], taking the Kamidake to a pirate-controlled sector of space, and as the girls are under house arrest, Seina is on his own along with his [[OddFriendship unlikely ally NB]], temporarily but enough to make a difference.]] [[spoiler: He is forcibly shot down after entering Space Pirate territory, and as the shuttle has no weapons, he can't fire back on them, making a crash-landing on a foreign planet inhabited by dog-like people, which also hosts Tarant's HQ.]] Things escalate from there, for better or worse, take your pick.
