[[folder:The Lantern Rings]]
'''[[Franchise/GreenLanterns Nine Lantern Corps Rings and Batteries]]'''
* Image: TBA. I am having trouble finding a good official image of the seven+black and white or all nine. I would appreciate help with that
* Appearance: Nine rings with different colors and sigils
* Class Level:
* Museum Check: Cleared (Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, White), Denied (Orange, Black), Limited Access (Red)
* Alignment: LawfulGood (the Indigo Tribe ring), NeutralGood (the Blue Lantern ring), LawfulNeutral (the Green Lantern ring), TrueNeutral (the White Lantern ring), ChaoticNeutral (the Red Lantern ring), NeutralEvil (the Orange and Black Lantern rings), The Sinestro and Star Sapphire/Yellow and Violet rings tend to be LawfulNeutral and ChaoticGood or LawfulEvil and ChaoticNeutral depending on the situation
* Portfolio
** Generally applies to them all: [[ImaginationBasedSuperpower Flexibility of Abilities]], [[MagicAIsMagicA Stringent Rules]], The InverseLawOfUtilityAndLethality, [[LightIsGood Some Of Them Are A Force For Good]], [[BrightIsNotGood Some Less So]], RingOfPower
** Dependent on the ring: ThePowerOfHate, RedIsViolent (Red), {{Greed}}, [[TheCorruption Inflicts Great Avarice On The User]], [[ThereCanOnlyBeOne Grows Weaker The More Rings Are Active]], EnergyAbsorption (Orange), EgocentricThemeNaming, EvilCounterpart to the Green, [[IKnowWhatYouFear Weaponies (Sinestro/Yellow), SpacePolice, [[HeroicSpirit Powered By Willpower]], initially ThouShaltNotKill, [[SanityHadAdvantages More Useful Due To Not Affecting The User's Psyche]], EmeraldPower (Green), [[SurvivalManta "All Will Be Well"]], [[KryptoniteFactor Basically Useless If A Green Lantern Isn't Nearby Or The User Despairs]], SolarCPU, HopeSproutsEternal, HopeBringer, [[GoodHurtsEvil Effective Against The More Negative Lanterns]] (Blue), PowerCopying, TeleportationWithDrawbacks, [[HeelFaceBrainwashing Normally Used To Force Sociopaths]] [[ForcedToFeelEmpathy To Be Compassionate]], EmpathicWeapon (Indigo), LoveRedeems (or HeelFaceBrainwashing if you want to be cynical), CrystalPrison, [[ThePowerOfLove Powered By Love]], [[LoveMakesYouCrazy Said Love Can Prove Overwhelming]], LoveFreak (Star Sapphire/Violet), (Black), (White)
* Ring wielders
** Permanent:
** Temporarily: Kara Zor-El/Supergirl (Red), Lex Luthor (Orange), Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow (Yellow), Ganthet (Green), Ray Palmer (Indigo) almost every ascended DC character that was deceased or previously deceased during the events of ''ComicBook/BlackestNight'' (Black), said resurrected mentioned (White). Bruce Wayne/Batman, Diana/Wonder Woman, Barry Allen, Thaal Sinestro and the first four Earth Green Lanterns have all possessed at least two rings on a temporary basis
* Domains:
* Source of interest:
* Similar artifacts:
* (introductory phrase)
* Most rings can can only be used by someone with a strong capacity for the emotion they possess. The Green Lantern ring is the most obvious; great willpower and overcoming great fear. This is just as well, as on the hand of a user it is only limited by his or her imagination.
* Applies to the rings as a whole
** (how they ascended)
** (protocol for how they are used in the Trope Pantheon, "deputy" status)
** (utility and comparison with other powers)
* Applies to the Green Lantern ring specifically
** (importance)
** (law enforcement and clause)
** (dealing with evil)
* Applies to other power rings
** (Yellow)
** (Blue)
** (Indigo)
** (Violet)
** The White Lantern Corps has never been permanently established, and the white ring is the rarest and perhaps hardest to use of any. Anyone who the Life Entity has hosted itself in will naturally wield a white ring, but utilizing all seven parts of the emotional spectrum is another potential way to get a white ring. (White)
** Unlike most of the rings the Red Lantern ring has limited access due to the hazard it proposes to the user. Normally the ring would cause whoever wields it to go into a berserker mode, but the pantheon's ring is updated to keep the user's mind intact asides from the inherent anger required to power it. No, it's because it replaces the user's heart, so if someone were to take it off they would undergo cardiac arrest and die unless they have a Blue Lantern to help, or some other way to restart the heart
** The Orange Lantern ring is not really meant to be used, but rather [[GodzillaThreshold for emergencies only]] and to complete the collection. This is because of two factors; Larfleeze will attack anyone who tries to use it as he's insistent only one can use the ring (in part because its power lessens the more people who use it), and [[TheCorruption whoever uses one will almost always be consumed greed]]. The [[IncorruptiblePurePureness incorruptibly pure]] like Tom Bombadil and Galahad who could resist the ring will be unable to use it. Despite the security [[Pantheon/{{Arthropods}} Shelob]] managed to swipe the ring. To everyone's horror [[PureIsNotGood she was so innately avaricious and hungry as to use it to its full extent]], actually winning the fight against Larfleeze [[SanityHasItsAdvantage who's experience was shrouded by his lack of lucidity]]. [[EnemyMine Hal had to help him get the ring off the spider]]. With its power to absorb energy, and use the victims of the wielder as constructs makes it a prize of Shang Tsung...however, he wishes to eliminate Larfleeze first so as to use its power without limit.
** If the orange ring's presence in the Great Treasury was troubling, the Black Lantern ring's presence signaled alarm bells. While the orange ring was understood as "emergencies only" the black ring is only there because the GUAD planted it. While the resurrected are safe from its effects unless Nekron has an emotional tether present, whatever corpse will always become [[HiveMind an extension of his will]] should the black ring possesses it, unless it is someone he implicitly trusts like [[Pantheon/VillainousRoles the Lich]]...in that case, it'll power him up. It's feared through much of the House of Pantheon/UndeadAndPhasmata as any technically dead resident aside from ghosts shall be ensnared by their Black Lantern persona, [[AndIMustScream aware of what's going on but unable to control it]]. Attempts to reprogram the ring so as to maintain one's own will have failed; the only people who succeeded at keeping their mind as a Black Lantern was Black Hand (who's got UndyingLoyalty to Nekron), Hal Jordan (who used Black Hand's ring) and any "Omega Lantern" (Black Lantern variants by way of [[Pantheon/{{Leadership}} Darkseid]]). Stopping the ring requires intense white light, a mix of green and other ring, or forcing the Black Lantern to feel emotion.
** There are actually two other Lantern Corps without rings in the pantheon. Much to Umbrax's disappointment the Ultraviolet Corps does not get a ring in the collection, however this is mainly because they use [[PowerTattoo tattoos]] in place of the ring and archiving that was a lot harder. There is also the Gold Lantern Corps who represent joy, theorized [[spoiler:to be a FusionDance of green and yellow corps]], however they're from the future and have some complications through it that prevented a gold power ring from being archived. Some consideration was made for archiving the Phantom Ring, which can be used by absolutely anybody to access any part of the Emotional Spectrum, but it's highly unstable. ''Any'' emotion no matter how small will access that power and it risks killing the user over prolonged usage. Its creator Rami has no intention of letting it into the Trope Pantheon and he's not planning to make a second one, but it was worth noting.

* What's the nearest star system to the Sun? In the constellation of Centaurus, about ~4.3 light years from Earth (so around 40 trillion kilometers) is the Alpha Centauri system. There are three stars in the system. The most prominent are Alpha Centauri A and B, who are 10% more and 10% less massive than the Sun respectively, and orbit a center of gravity over 79 years, being somewhere between 11.2 and 35.6 light years away from one another (so about the difference between the Sun and Saturn to the Sun and Pluto). A lot further away at 13,000 AU is Proxima Centauri, a red dwarf that is the physically closest star to the Sun. Proxima has at least two confirmed planets orbiting it, and the other two stars might have planets of their own.

* Advice from Tropers/{{lawliet-saw-whet}}: You should do what I did with Prometheus and have the main subject be the profile pic and do their incarnation pics later. I personally add the compilation pics to clarify which incarnations people would be familiar with, even if it's from a work the profile author is unfamiliar with. It is also to prevent a bias picture for one god from one media, like some of the old Smite or Fate/Series profiles. But I also don't want to be a simple picture of a statue or painting alone. Some people don't like it and it's fine, it's your dissertation if you would like to add it or have someone else do it for you.
