''The Light of Our Solus'' (previously known as Random Guy Quest) is a ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}''-based ForumQuest hosted on Website/SpaceBattlesDotCom, though it features a large cast of original characters and plays around with the show's canon while adding in new plotlines. It stars Mordin Solus, a recently born EldritchAbomination who has spent thousands of years sleeping beneath the planet, waiting to be born. Taking the form of a [[LittleBitBeastly wolf/fox faunus]], Mordin lives out his life among the people of Remnant, training to become a hunter for no other reason than [[ItAmusedMe it seemed interesting at the time]].

Accompanying him throughout his life are his sapient pet cat [[ActionPet Blake]], a robot named [[RobotGirl Talitha]], former [[spoiler: assassin]] [[FishOutOfTemporalWater Hesperides]], his partial clone [[OurPhlebotinumChild Osmond]], and his teammates [[GenkiGirl Ruby Rose]], [[CovertPervert Blake Belladonna]], and [[{{Troll}} Felicia Crescent]].

%% Administrivia/ZeroContextExamples are not allowed on the wiki. Please expand on any commented-out examples before uncommenting them. Thank you.
* ActionPet: Blake. She’s more than capable of ripping apart giant grimm with her bare paws and yet is still just a five month old kitten.
* AlienAmongUs: Pretty much what Mordin’s race does in order to be born. They impregnate their young deep within the earth until the day they are ready to gain a body of their own.
* AlternateTimeline: Mordin has traveled to four so far. A version of Remnant 110 years in the future, a parallel version where he meets [[spoiler: the [[BigBad evil]] [[WickedWitch witch]] [[MonsterLord Salem]]]], a version of Beacon during the [[DarkestHour Fall of Beacon]], and the events of canon during Volume 6.
* AmnesiacHero: Mordin, rather than telling everyone who and what he really is, just tells everyone that he has amnesia. Most people believe him, mainly because of how clueless he is about everyday things and social norms.
* AncientArtifact: Mordin practically trips over them during his daily walks. One artifact in specific — a sword he calls Moonlight Greatsword — is capable of shooting lasers.
* AndShowItToYou: Mordin rips out more than one Grimm heart out during the story.
* AndYourRewardIsInfancy: Mordin can do this to people if he kills them under certain circumstances. [[spoiler:He eventually does it to a monster that was originally a human.]]
* {{Animorphism}}: Mordin and [[spoiler: Blake Belladonna]] gain the ability to turn into the animals their faunus traits are based on.
* ArtificialAfterlife: Mordin eventually creates one, but it only draws in those who know about it, want to enter, and if Mordin is within a certain range. Currently empty.
* AscendedExtra: Cardin. In canon he was just a racist bully. In this story Cardin is not only given a good reason for his racist and bullying behavior, but also becomes a main part of the cast.
* AssassinOutclassin: During the attack on Beacon someone attacked Hes, but she fought them off.
* AttractiveBentGender: Mordin when he crossdresses.
* BadassAdorable: Mordin and Blake. Mordin looks thirteen, is short, and has enough feminine features to pass off as a girl when he wears female clothing. Blake is a five month old kitten. Both of them are capable of eating gigantic monsters for breakfast and causing more than enough destruction.
* BackFromTheDead: Mordin — using the power he gained from the semi-sapient soul eating tree — brings everyone in the future research facility back to life. Downplayed with Talitha, who can revive the ''very'' recently deceased if they're mostly in one piece.
* BadassLongcoat: Mordin has one of these.
%%* BashBrothers: Mordin and Brick.
* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: Mordin battles [[spoiler: a fragment of Valtile Arc within the depths of Ruby's soul.]]
* BenevolentAI: [[spoiler: Talitha ends up making these with Mordin's help.]] Created with fully sapient souls, they love their creators, and people in general.
* BenevolentBoss: H seems to be this. At the least, the people who work for him are ''exceptionally'' loyal.
* BeyondTheImpossible: Downplayed with S-Rank skills. They break physics slightly, but are attainable by sufficiently skilled and determined people. Played straight with EX Rank skills.
%%* {{BFS}}: Mordin has several of these. He really seems to like them.
* BigBadFriend: Mordin and Neo are casual friends. They sometimes hang out, get ice cream, and beat up terrorists together.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Mordin, being an Eldritch Abomination, has this in spades. While still a good person, Mordin does not see anything wrong with causing his enemies large amounts of pain, doesn’t see anything wrong with large amounts of blood and gore, and doesn’t know why losing limbs is that big of a deal.
* BodySurf: The Hidden, one of H's followers, does this. It gets creepier when you learn that he can copy his victims' memories and when he leaves, they believe any actions he took while in control were ''their'' decision.
* BornLucky: Blake. She is the best at gambling and at games of chance. She’s so lucky that even hanging around her can make Mordin’s luck better than before.
* BornWinner: Mordin, by virtue of being a Solus, is a reality warping planet eater. He has command over domains of reality, each of which is more than capable of destroying the universe if practiced hard enough. His soul is large and powerful enough to make the average person almost godlike if flooded with its power. He’s capable of learning increasingly complicated skills in less than a few weeks if he practices enough. And if he ever dies he can resurrect himself good as new.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: Heroic version. Mordin ends up stopping a young girl from being a victim of a serial killer completely by accident. He later stopped that killer, and the girl formed a cult around him.
* CannibalismSuperpower: Eating grimm gives Mordin abilities and powers. Goes the same for eating souls.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: When Mordin removed most of his body’s natural resistance to alcohol just to see what it was like to get drunk, he almost immediately became hammered out of his mind. He could barely walk and ended up sleeping in the same bed with Jaune, unknowingly terrifying him in the process.
* CasualInterstellarTravel: What Talitha was built for and what most Solus are capable of.
* ChestMonster: Mimics, naturally. Soul mimics can change their shape into anything they touch. Even people.
* CivilizedAnimal: Blake Solus, Mordin’s pet cat, starts out as a normal cat. When she was awakened, she gained sapience and became this.
* ColorCodedForYourConvenience: There are two people named Blake in this quest. So the author helpfully color coded each name so that the reader could tell who was who. Each character also has their own color accosted with their name, just like in canon.
* CombatTentacles: Mordin has these. He’s fairly proud of them and likes to use then for a lot of things.
* ConstantlyCurious: Mordin, all the time. This is mainly due to him only being a few months old.
* TheCorruption: [[spoiler: An alternate version of Salem tries this on Mordin, but it only [[CursedWithAwesome makes him stronger]].]]
%%* CosmicHorrorStory: More like a cosmic adventure story.
%%* CovertPervert: Blake Belladonna, naturally.
%%* CreepyAwesome: Mordin has shades of this. Luckily, not many has seen this side of him.
* CurbStompBattle: Happens a few times.
** First would be Mordin's rematch against Zinogre; Mordin defeats it in a [[SingleStrokeBattle single blow]].
** Happens later when the emotionless construct inside of the Mirror of Erised pisses Mordin off. Mordin tears through the Mirror's defenses, kills a thousand identical constructs with a thought, then ''gives the original feelings just so it can be properly terrified of him''.
* CuriosityIsACrapshoot: Mordin sometimes falls into this. Especially when he got kidnapped.
* {{Cult}}: The Followers of Knowledge. They worship Mordin but are generally benevolent, since that's what Mordin approves of. Though they can be a bit eccentric.
* CuteButPsycho: Mordin and Blake (the cat) often come off as this to many.
* ClingyJealousGirl: [[spoiler: Ruby]] is like this with Mordin. She won't actually hurt anyone, but she might try to scare them off. Mordin gets like this after some character development. Flirt with [[spoiler: Ruby]] and he'll causually begin eating knives in front of you.
* DarkIsNotEvil: The Darkness domain's teleport ability's flavor text states that there are friendly shadow beings. This is in stark contrast to the similar [[LightIsNotGood Light]] ability.
* DeadlyTrainingArea: Mordin currently has two.
** The first is a part of [[DreamLand The Hunter's Dream]]. Certain enemies that Mordin has defeated can be challenged by anyone who visits. If they're killed they just respawn in the dream.
** The second is a part of the dungeon domain. Mordin conjures a castle and anyone who enters it can attempt to clear it by defeating the boss. The first time they die inside they respawn safely outside. If they try and fail again they stay dead.
* DeadlyUpgrade: Mordin’s sacrifice domain allows him to flood the person he cares most with the full power of a Solus soul. This makes them into a nearly godlike entity but has the unfortunate drawback of killing them within a minute afterward.
* DeepSleep: Mordin was put into a sleep that lasted for thousands of years at the beginning of the story. It’s the Solus equivalent of a fetus going through nine months inside a mother’s womb.
* {{Determinator}}: Mordin privately wonders why humans and faunus continue to fight against the Grimm, when logic states that they have no chance against a never ending enemy. It’s part of the reason why he wants to live: to figure out why people do the things they do.
* DevourTheDragon: A more heroic version. Mordin has a domain that allows him to kill the people he cares most, in order to gain power. It’s incredibly powerful but — for obvious reasons — he’ll probably never use it.
* DidYouJustRomanceCthulhu: [[spoiler: Ruby asked Mordin out seconds after she found out he was a EldritchAbomination. He said yes, and now they're in a romantic relationship.]]
* DimensionalTraveler: Solus are this naturally. They travel to different world and dimensions in hope of gaining knowledge, power, or food.
* DitzyGenius: Mordin. He's smart, but his rather young age and his unique perception on life gets him into trouble more often than not.
%%* DoubleEntendre: Felicia makes so many of these.
%%* DreamLand: Mordin creates one that he or his friends can visit when they sleep.
* EatingTheEnemy: Mordin does this to so many Grimm.
* EldritchAbomination: Mordin, as well as most Solus, are this. They are interdimensional travelers known for eating entire worlds and are as old as time itself. They have souls and powers that do not follow any known rules of Remnant, and are shown to be almost completely unstoppable.
* EmpathicWeapon: [[spoiler:Moonlight]] becomes partially sapient after an [[LivingWeapon upgrade]], and [[spoiler: Crescent Rose]] has become fully sapient as well.
* EnchantedForest: Caldereca's prison is this and a PortalCrossroadWorld.
* EnergyAbsorption: What Mordin does whenever he eats Grimm. He absorbs the darkness within their forms, which can give him some benefits. Currently he is capable of healing whenever he eats Grimm, controlling small Grimm, and even gaining grimm like physical traits such as white hair and red eyes.
* EnergyWeapon: Light Domain's appropriately named Death Beam.
* EnlightenmentSuperpowers: Blake has this in the form of her learning domain. At one point, she gained intimate knowledge on the nature of all domains, knowledge that lasted for only an instant but still had an effect on her.
* {{Expy}}: In-universe. Blake ends up writing some popular novels that feature characters ''clearly'' modeled after her friends and teammates.
* ExperiencePoints: An actual in-universe form of power currency that most Solus use.
* ExtremeOmnivore: Mordin is this. It’s practically his defining trait. There is nothing that he cannot eat and nothing that doesn’t taste good to him. From poison to moldy week old sandwiches, to his own limbs, he is more than willing to eat anything put in front of him. Even Grimm, beings made up of nothing but darkness and hate, are things that he will enthusiastically eat.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: It's been brought up a few times in-universe that [[spoiler: Cardin and Yang]] are ''clearly'' [[BelligerentSexualTension into each other]].
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Talitha and Mordin come across a drunk brother and sister while hanging out. The sister hits on her.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Mordin gets hit on by a drunk guy during the Spring's End field trip while hanging out with Talitha.
%%* EvilKnockoff: [[spoiler: Lost Light]] can make these.
* EvilTastesGood: Grimm taste good to Mordin.
* EvolvingWeapon: Moonlight. It was broken into several different blades, which Mordin eventually finds. He's also combined it with the Shard of Perfection, ''significantly'' increasing it's power.
* TheFaceless: H. His appearance and first name are currently unknown. The only time his face was shown was a fake-out.
* FalseFriend: Mordin honestly thinks Cardin is a friend. Cardin, meanwhile, has made no attempt to hide the fact that he doesn’t like him. Also Roman Torchwick, who "befriends" Mordin strictly for his own benefit. It seems like Mordin might be growing on him, though.
* FantasticFightingStyle: Several. Mordin knows one called the Angel Sword Style, which, when fully mastered, grants the ability to fly and create energy constructs.
* FantasticRacism: Cardin, just like in canon, is very racist towards faunus. Unlike in canon, Cardin actually has a reason for his racism, which helps develop his character somewhat. His blatant racism loses some of its edge mainly because most of his slurs are directed at Mordin, who is too clueless to get that Cardin is insulting him.
* AFatherToHisMen: Odol. So much that he’s willing to kill Mordin — who looks like a thirteen year old child — from the mere thought that he killed his men.
* FedoraOfAsskicking: Felicia has this.
* FirstGirlWins: [[spoiler: Ruby]] eventually does end up in a relationship with Mordin.
* TheFogOfAges: This tends to happen to people trapped in the Mirror of Erised. Also [[spoiler: Ozpin]].
* ForWantOfANail: Barring a few exceptions, H's semblance allows him an ''enormous'' amount of control over the butterfly effect provided he asks the right questions.
* FriendlyRivalry: Cardin starts out disliking Mordin, but eventually develops a one-sided form of this. Mordin, naturally, is [[NoSocialSkills oblivious]].
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Cardin, naturally. Most of his racist behavior isn’t accepted, but they all still hang out with him. [[CharacterDevelopment He becomes better later on though,]] and ends up being coming the group's OnlySaneMan along with Ren.
* FusionDance: Mordin can fuse with others to create a temporary composite being. He can also fuse similar weapons together.
* GeneticMemory: Mordin was born knowing everything there was to know about Solus, what they were like, as well as their capabilities.
* GettingSmiliesPaintedOnYourSoul: A very mild case. "Nice Guy", one of H's men, has the ability to make himself supernaturally likable. It isn't terribly powerful though, and he can't turn it off. Nice Guy himself dislikes this ability, and makes it a point to tell his friends about it, since it doesn't affect anyone who knows how it works.
* TheGift: Mordin — as well as anyone he personally awakens — has this.
* HealingFactor: Mordin has one on par with Wolverine. So far he's been stabbed in the heart, ripped in half, lost multiple limbs, and ''partially melted by lava'', throughout the story.
* HealingHands: Talitha can do this thanks to her recover domain.
* HereditaryCurse: The [[spoiler: Rose]] family bloodline has one. [[spoiler: They each are born with a fragment of Valtile Arc inside them, which grants them their Silver Eye powers, but does something to their soul upon death.]]
* HeroicBSOD: Yang goes through a period of this after hitting Mordin and rupturing most of his organs. Despite his blasé attitude towards the incident, it still takes some time before she gets over it. Even then, she had to go to counseling in order to come to terms with what she did.
* HumanoidAbomination: Mordin appears to be just a young faunus. And for the most part, he is. That is, until you take a look at his true form.
%%* HumongousMecha: Atlas is currently working on one.
* HungryWeapon: A spear that Mordin took off of a monster in the Emerald Forest. Said spear not only makes the user stab itself in the heart, but also absorbs souls.
* IHaveYourWife: Or friends, in this case. A cult kidnaps [[spoiler: Roman and Neo]] and tells Mordin to surrender himself or else. [[spoiler: It goes incredibly poorly for the kidnappers.]] Much later, [[spoiler: Salem kidnaps Hazel.]]
* ImplacableMan: Mordin has shades of this when fighting against grimm and opponents. His healing factor means that he can take absurd amounts of damage without breaking a sweat, and the fact that he doesn’t have to rely on aura means that the only way to beat him is by physically tiring him out.
* ImprobableAge: Mordin, Blake, and Talitha are all incredibly young to be doing the things that they do. For reference, Blake is the oldest of the three and she’s only ''five months old''. Mordin has only been alive for three months while Talitha has only been up for a few hours. Justified in that Blake is a cat, Mordin is an EldritchAbomination so normal rules don’t apply, and Talitha is a fully functioning robot who was programmed to know basic information.
* InnocentInnuendo: Mordin and Ruby are working on repairing an ancient sword he found in a bunch of ruins. From the perspective of an outsider, a lot of the terms they say sounds incredibly suggestive. Yang ends up thinking that they’re actually having sex and fights Mordin. It doesn’t end well for either of them.
* InstantExpert: Mordin, even though he has only been alive for a few months at most, managed to gain enough skill with his great sword that he is now fairly proficient at it. This goes the same for many of his other skills.
* InterspeciesAdoption: [[spoiler: Hazel]] adopting Mordin, although she doesn't realize it. [[spoiler: At first.]]
* InVinoVeritas: Of a sort. When Mordin gets absolutely hammered at one point Felicia takes the opportunity to ask him what he thinks of [[spoiler: his girlfriend Ruby]], and he can only drunkenly compliment [[spoiler:her]].
* ItAmusedMe: A non malicious version. Pretty much the reason why Mordin does most of the dangerous things he does it because it seemed interesting at the time or because he had nothing better to do.
* ITasteDelicious: Mordin actually ate his severed arm at some point.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Cardin, for all his bullying and racism, actually has some good reasons for why he behaves the way he does.
** The reason why he bullies Jaune so much is because he believes that he didn't get into Beacon through his own merit and that be bribed his way in. He points out how obvious it is that Jaune doesn't have the skills to make it into Beacon, remarking that people like Cardin have worked hard for it while Jaune gets a free pass.
** The reason why he hates faunus so much is because he feels that they're all ungrateful and terrorists in the making. He talks about how even with all the rights faunus have been given they still try to take more and more, never being grateful for the rights they have been given and always acting like victims. And how faunus like the White Fang are legitimately hurting people, making normal people who didn't do anything wrong scared for their lives.
* LaughingMad: Mordin [[GoneHorriblyRight accidentally]] induces this in [[spoiler: Mar'Gol after the latter took over Robert's base.]]
* LegendaryWeapon: Both of Mordin's greatswords, Moonlight and Lux Sum Mundi. Both are so old that their legends have almost completely faded away.
* LevelUpAtIntimacy5: The Intimacy Domain grants Mordin EXP due to his relationship with [[spoiler: Ruby]].
* LightIsNotGood: Both Light and Darkness Domains have teleport abilities, but Light's is decidedly less friendly.
* LittleBitBeastly: Mordin, as a faunus, is this.
* LivingToy: [[spoiler: Margol's]] ultimate fate. Turned into a toy and unable to move or speak. It's unknown whether he's aware of his situation or not.
* TheLittleShopThatWasntThereYesterday: A rather meta example, the quest features the "Lost Shop", where questers that have earned "Lost Points" or "LP" can spend them for various meta- or in-game bonuses. One catch - the shop isn't in plain sight, but hidden behind cryptic riddles that hint at its location. Of course, if that wasn't enough, every time that anyone finds the shop, it moves to a different location and must be found again.
* LoveConfession: [[spoiler: Ruby]] admits her feelings for Mordin [[spoiler: after he tells her about his [[EldritchAbomination true nature]]]]. Just before the school dance,[[spoiler: Mordin admits to Ruby that he loves her. She returns his feelings.]]
* LoveEpiphany: [[spoiler: Mordin has one when Felicia asks him what the difference between what he feels for Ruby and the rest of his friends are.]]
* LostSuperweapon: The [[spoiler: Branwen]] Temple is ''filled'' with these, but the best is likely [[spoiler: The Throne of Heroes]].
* LuminescentBlush: Mordin has this when the topic of him having to be potty trained is brought up.
* {{Lunarians}}: In the distant past there were some, but then the moon was [[EarthShatteringKaboom destroyed]]. [[spoiler: They actually survived, but are in some kind of magical slumber.]] [[spoiler: Salem is actually a survivor, who eventually made a sort of hive mind out of herself and her species]].
* MagicalGirl: Mordin's Contract domain lets him turn willing individuals into these. Eventually, all of One People are contracted.
* MagicMirror: The Mirror of Erised. It traps the souls of those who look into it and force them to undergo a test. Those who pass get to leave. Those who don't are [[FateWorseThanDeath trapped]] [[AndIMustScream forever]].
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Mordin talks about losing limbs and getting ripped in half like how normal people talk about losing their car keys. He doesn’t consider it that big of a deal when it happens to him and is very confused when people freak out over it.
* MasterOfDisguise: [[TechnicallyNakedShapeshifter Soul mimics]] are this naturally. Justified, since they can copy some of the memories of those they touch.
* MasterOfYourDomain: Mordin is capable of manipulating his biology. This gives him hardened skin, super strength, a healing factor, and poison resistance.
* TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody: [[spoiler: Blake]] initially has trouble adapting to the instincts of [[spoiler: her]] animal form.
* MoreFriendsMoreBenefits: Mordin's Bond domain grants him XP, EXP, and a minor special ability for every person he's emotionally close to. Additionally, once they reach a certain point they'll be able to grow more quickly as well.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Yang goes through this when she hits Mordin and ruptures most of his organs, spine, and ribs due to his lack of aura.
* MysteriousBacker: H has helped Mordin on a few occasions, most notably when H minimized the casualties of the Black Claw Invasion, saving several of the people Mordin holds most dear.
* NebulousEvilOrganization: H seems to run one. In his first letter to Mordin, he even admitted that if Mordin heard about him ''any other way but this'', Mordin would consider him a villain.
* TheNeedsOfTheMany: Deliberately invoked by [[spoiler: Salem. She wanted to see if Mordin would choose to rescue his mother or protect Vale from an army of Grimm.]]
* NeverGetsDrunk: Due to his body domain, Mordin can manipulate his faunus biology so that alcohol cannot affect him. He can also turn off this natural resistance if he wants to.
* NoSocialSkills: Mordin’s five month old kitten has more social skills than him. Some of the most basic forms of social interaction complex escape him, while common sense might as well be another language at times. Whether or not this is due to his Eldritch status or because of how unbelievably young he is, remains to be seen.
* TheNotSoHarmlessPunishment: Yang’s punishment for the sparring incident is to answer all of Mordin’s questions for a month. It doesn’t seem too bad at first, until Mordin asks what sex and tentacle sex is.
* ObliviouslyEvil: The mutant tree from Talitha’s timeline. It’s cheerful and has the mind of an over-eager child, yet doesn’t seem to realize that killing people and taking their souls is a bad thing.
* OhCrap: This tends to happen to those who attack Mordin, since they usually underestimate him in some way. Of particular note is [[spoiler: Lost Light]]. When attacking Mordin [[spoiler: she]] remains smugly assured... until he pulls out [[WeaponOfXSlaying Lux Sum Mundi]], very quickly shifting from quiet confidence to ''unrestrained panic''.
* OneWingedAngel: Mordin’s true form. So far, he hasn’t used it.
* OnlySaneMan: Cardin, of all people, becomes this. He is the only person in their twelve person group who doesn't have some sort of crazy personality, quirk, or abilities. He's also the only one who realizes how crazy everyone else is, and comments on it more often than anyone else. In comparison, Ren is a lighter version of this.
* OurSoulsAreDifferent: The soul of a Solus is this in spades. Instead of having a semblance or aura, they have domains. These domains are completely different from semblances in that you can have more than one and that you can share them with others. Domains are also indicated to be limitless in their use, while most semblances seem to have a level cap at some point. The Solus soul also seems to be much bigger and more complicated than the soul of a human or faunus, something that Mordin remarks on.
* OrphansOrdeal: Downplayed somewhat with Mordin, played straight with [[spoiler: Blake]].
* TempleOfDoom: The [[spoiler: Branwen]] temple. It's impossible to enter unless you're a member of the clan [[spoiler: or are a Solus]] and is filled with ancient, powerful items. Subverted in that the challenges to obtain an item are frankly hilarious.
%%* ParentalSubstitute: Hazel is this to Mordin.
* PerpetualMotionMachine: Talitha designs one called the Kaleidoscopic Engine. It takes a small amount of energy from other universes. It has a maximum output of energy, but it won't ever run out of power.
* PetMonstrosity: Vajra the Grimm. Most of the time he's trapped in Mordin's pocket, but Mordin occasionally lets him out for a walk or to train. Vajra still wants to kill Mordin, but he also knows that Mordin is a few orders of magnitude stronger than him, so he begrudgingly obeys Mordin.
* PocketDimension: Mordin has one, due to his storage domain.
* PoweredArmor: Talitha made some- The Variable Armor Mk. I.
* PoweredByAForsakenChild: [[spoiler:A rare heroic example. Mordin is host to the soul of one Nene Lesam, one of the many shattered souls he rescued. When she possesses a Nevermore it becomes ''immensely'' stronger, and loyal to Mordin.]]
* PowerLimiter: Lux Sum Mundi has no less than ''thirteen'' seals on it. Each one has a very specific requirement to be undone, and it's never been fully unsealed. [[spoiler:It eventually gets a fourteenth seal.]]
* ThePowerOfTheSun: One of Blake’s forms allows her to create two small suns that she can hurl at people.
* ThePowerOfLove: [[spoiler: Mordin and Ruby]] seem to use this. When they are near each other they grow stronger.
* PlanetEater: Word of God states that many Solus do this to the planets they were born on.
* PregnantHostage: [[spoiler: Hazel]] when she was kidnapped by Salem.
* RealityWarper: A lot of Mordin, Blake, and Talitha’s abilities come off as this. Mordin himself is shown to have accidentally ripped apart a section of space and time when he was just born.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: If you count the years in which he spent sleeping deep underneath the earth, Mordin is actually older than the grimm and possibly humanity itself.
* RedStringOfFate: Nier Axolotl can apparently see these with his semblance.
* ReforgedBlade: Moonlight. It was mystically split into several different blades, but Mordin's found them. [[spoiler: he even manages to upgrade it a bit.]]
* RidiculouslyHumanRobots: Talitha.
* RobeAndWizardHat: Mordin has these. Surprisingly it looks much more awesome and threatening than [[https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-jbzMoxF-NqY/VP28IqhxG4I/AAAAAAAAACQ/degwGNYVUao/w750-h958/black_mage_by_theoriginale-d34yx1w.jpg you would think.]]
* ScareEmStraight: Mordin attempts this with [[spoiler: Mar'Gol]], but he [[TooManyMouths overdoes]] [[CombatTentacles it]] [[TearsOfBlood by]] [[ForeseeingMyDeath a]] [[KillingIntent lot]], and drives [[spoiler: him]] insane instead.
* SecretKeeper: So far, only [[spoiler: Ruby]], [[spoiler: Hazel]] and [[spoiler: Ozpin]] have been informed of Mordin's true nature, although [[spoiler: Roman]] managed to figure out some of the truth. Later [[spoiler: Felicia and Blake]] are brought into the loop as well. [[spoiler: Aerin]] knows he's something more than human, but may not know the specifics.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Talitha’s long Fourth Doctor like scarf is her weapon of choice. It is capable of turning into a gigantic pair of arms as well as two machine guns.
* {{Seers}}: Felicia, as well as several unnamed characters who may or may not have been stalking Mordin.
* SemanticSuperpower: All domains are like this, no matter what they are. Blake, the holder of the learning domain, at some point realized that every domain is capable of destroying all of existence if mastered completely.
* ShapeshifterModeLock: King/Laztra can do this to other mimics, or [[InvoluntaryShapeshifting force]] them to shift without their consent.
%%* ShipTease: Mordin and Ruby.
* ShoulderSizedDragon: Any dragon Mordin spawns starts as this, but grow pretty rapidly into their full size.
* ShockAndAwe: Mordin’s lightning domain.
* SoulPower: Mordin, Blake, Talitha, and Hesperides are all capable of weaponizing their souls directly, and not just their aura.
* StockShonenHero: Entropy Yellow.
* SucksAtDancing: Played straight then averted by Mordin. He starts out ''horrendously'' bad, but keeps practicing until he becomes skilled enough to win a dance competition. He even incorporates it into his [[DanceBattler fighting style]].
* SlippingAMickey: Played straight and for laughs at the same time. During the school dance, no less than 20 people spiked the punch with alcohol. [[spoiler: Unfortunately, an unknown agent spiked it with something much stronger, and a large part of the Beacon student body wasn't able to defend themselves from a coming attack.]]
* SuperMode: Mordin has one in his "Super Solus Rose" power, which increases his damage, but weakens his accuracy. He has a second with Two Become One, the result of fusing the Shard of Perfection with Moonlight. It greatly increases his power, but only lasts a short while, and he takes a massive debuff after it wears off.
* {{Synchronization}}: Mordin does this to Talitha. She only had fifty minutes to live and her power core was to unique to replace with anything else. So Mordin linked his soul to hers, awakening her and allowing her to live off the power his soul provided.
* TheTalk: Mordin is given this at some point. Including the talk about his tentacles and what they mean to most people.
* TeamPet: Blake the cat.
* TechnicallyNakedShapeshifter: Most mimics are like this.
* ThingsThatGoBumpInTheNight: Mordin, after getting drunk off his ass, becomes this to Jaune when he sneaks into his bed. Predictably, Jaune has nightmares while Mordin remains clueless to his affect on him.
* TimeAbyss: Caldereca is ''unfathomably'' ancient.[[spoiler: Ozpin and Salem]] qualify as well, though the former doesn't remember as much.
%%* TimeMaster: Mordin.
* TimeStandsStill: [[spoiler: Ozpin]] is capable of this. Eventually Mordin also manages it.
* TooSmartForStrangers: Subverted. Mordin ends up getting kidnapped by some guy after he eats some drugged food. But Mordin being Mordin, he doesn’t have much to worry about.
* TournamentArc: The Vytal Festival, naturally. Instead of just being a fighting tournament (though it has that too) there are several different types of competitions.
* TrueCompanions: The members of One People are shaping up to be this, having [[BandofBrothers fought and bled]] alongside one another.
%%* {{Troll}}: Felicia. Mordin is also somewhat like this at times.
* UltimateBlacksmith: [[spoiler: Ruby]] eventually becomes something like this, eventually upgrading a [[ReforgedBlade complete]], empowered Moonlight.
* UnbrokenVigil: Mordin watches over [[spoiler: Ruby]] when [[spoiler: she's]] been critically injured. He didn't even ''blink'' until he passed out.
* UndyingLoyalty: Blake (the cat) for Mordin and vise versa.
* UnskilledButStrong: Mordin. He’s getting better.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Blake is capable of this with her beast domain. The beast domain allows her to take on a wide arrange of forms from all over the universe, each with their own powers and abilities. [[spoiler: Later Felicia gets this as proof that she is her own individual.]]
* WeaponOfXSlaying: Lux Sum Mundi. When a [[spoiler: Horned One/Lunarian]] is struck by the blade the third seal activates, and all of their stats take a ''massive'' debuff. They refer to it as [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Kinslayer]].
* WholesomeCrossdresser: Mordin. Most people, when they hear about his crossdressing, either don’t make a big deal about it or encourage him to do what he likes. It helps that he really seems to pull the girl look off.
* YearInsideHourOutside: Caldereca's Prison. When travelling between doors time outside seems to stand still or go very slowly.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Mordin says he’s fifteen, looks thirteen, but is actually only a few months old. That is, unless you count the years he spent sleeping underneath the earth in a pocket dimension, which he doesn’t. Talitha is also younger than she looks, being only less than a day old when Mordin awakened her.
* YourSoulIsMine: Mordin is entirely capable of eating souls to gain power. He just doesn’t, because he thinks that it’s kinda rude to do so. The soul eating tree form the alternate timeline Talitha is from, doesn’t agree with him. He/She/It thinks souls taste delicious. [[spoiler: After obtaining the Throne of Heroes, Raven Branwen can capture the souls of anyone she defeats, and summon them to fight for her.]] There's also [[spoiler: a Grimm in the form of a book that slowly steals peoples souls, then takes control of their [[VoodooZombie bodies]]]]. Salem is also able to steal souls.
