''Reaching Salvation'' is a Role Playing experience that has since been separated into two distinct halves: The Acer Tournament story line and the Post Acer War story line. The original RP was originally created by [[http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2023763/LastPrelude LastPrelude]] and is hosted on [[http://forum.fanfiction.net/forum/This_is_Not_a_Forum/69987/ This is Not A Forum]] over on Website/FanFictionDotNet, whilst the Post Acer story takes place [[TimeSkip five years later]], with the contestants that competed in the Acer Tournament in the original RP having moved on and set up their own little village.

!! General Tropes:

* AdaptationExpansion: There are numerous little side stories that various people have written for their characters and posted up on sites like Fiction Press and the like; a good view have been rendered none-canon, however.
* AfterTheEnd: It ''is'' set after TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt, which is a big hint.
%%* AllThereInTheManual: The information and character creation threads.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership:
** This is how the contestant food chain is ultimately decided.
** The Big Five could easily do a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown on any of the contestants back when they were running things, hence why none bar Shima could challenge them.
** Subverted when applied to Post Acer contestants village and how it's run, as there isn't really anyone in charge so to speak, but those that act as the leader figures aren't the strongest, but probably the best suited for the position.
* BigBad:
** Shima is introduced as the BigBad during the Breakout Arc. [[spoiler: The Big Five are not surprisingly the GreaterScopeVillain given that they're EvilAllAlong, with Acerbus acting as the groups leader making him the ultimate BigBad. Counts as them being that at first whilst Shima serves as a more open antagonist towards the contestants]]
** Who is the the Post Acer BigBad you might ask? It's [[spoiler: Lillian]], what happened to the others has been left vague for the time being.
%%* BlackAndGreyMorality: In ''Reaching Salvation versus'', there really are no 'good guys' in the traditional sense of the word.
%%* ChildrenAreInnocent: Played with a ''lot''. The ones referred to as kids in the actual RP, Elena and Simon, play this straight. Everyone else? Yeah... not so much, really.
%%* CrapsackWorld
%%* DarkAndTroubledPast: Everyone's got one considering the CrapsackWorld they all live in.
%%* TheDreaded: All adults. No Exceptions.
%%* {{Expy}}: [[VideoGame/BlazBlue Oh]] [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender dear God]], [[Manga/{{Bleach}} where]] [[Franchise/{{Naruto}} to]] [[ComicBook/XMen even begin?]]
%%** Most ideas of the plot in the orginial ''Reaching Salvation'' are related to ''The Hunger Games''.
* KilledOffForReal: Thus far we have in no particular order: [[spoiler: Minerva and Myra Strife, Mitsu, Shepard, Sabina, Shima, and various other characters]].
* MagicAIsMagicA: The book on the Flow from the first RP is essentially a rule book.
* ShoutOut:
** [[Film/JurassicPark Clever Girl]] - courtesy of Paul.
** Neo said [[WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfZelda1989 "Well, excuuuuuuuse me princess!"]].
** The Big Five, originally coined by Dobi Boshi and becoming a term used in and out of the RP is used at first as a passing Shout Out to ''Franchise/YuGiOh'' on one of the discussion threads.
%%* TeenageWasteland: Not so much in the {{Sequel}}.
* TimeSkip: Five years between the original and the {{Sequel}}.

!! Tropes pertaining to the original only:

[[folder: A - D]]
%%* AbortedArc
%%* ActionGirl: Heidi, Erika, the list goes on and on...
%%** LadyOfWar: Lillian and Anya.
* AlasPoorVillain: [[spoiler: Shima's situation could en up being this, given the fact that he wants to change the world for the better yet he was betrayed by those he trusted most, seemingly when their apposing views finally brought them to odds. As a result [[BigBad Shima]] is now out for {{Revenge}} against those who turned on him, painting him as WellIntentionedExtremist as he does seem to want to change the world for the better. Sadly it's not his first priority anymore.]]
%%* AloneWithThePsycho: Poor twins...
%%* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Luke feels this way towards Nathan, Nathan seems to feel this way towards the Big Five.
* AntiVillain: [[spoiler: Shima has painted himself as this despite being the biggest contender for the position of BigBad. He's outwardly stated he's out for {{Revenge}} for what the others did to him some point prior to the start of the RP, but you can't help but feel sorry for the guy when you take into account that he does want to change the world for the better - possibly could end up going as far as being the DesignatedEvil and becoming an AntiHero.]]
%%* ArcVillain: [[spoiler: What Shima ends up being]].
* ArtificialLimbs: Thadius' mechanical arm also doubles as an ArmCannon.
* AscendedExtra: Shepard and [[spoiler: Simon]] are this, as both were originally introduced with the intention of being RedShirts. Things changed however, and [[spoiler: Simon]] is still very much alive and a recurring character in the Post Acer story line.
* AttackAttackAttack: Some contestants seem to think of this as their main battle strategy.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Doonjor could count, considering his sheer size when compared to everyone one else present in the RP.
* AxCrazy: Luke's creator has stated this is what happens to him during his BackToBackBadasses moment with Kira during the Breakout Arc.
%%* BackToBackBadasses: Tom and Eithne count during the first half of the chimera challenge.
%%** Luke and Kira also have their moment during the Breakout Arc.
* BadassLongcoat: Eithne's makeover during the second week has him rockin' one of these.
%%* BadassNormal: According to WordOfGod, [[spoiler: Thadius]] is this.
* BallisticBone: One of [[EliteMook}} Shima's Illuminati]] can do this. Funnily enough, he was fighting Paul at the time when he displayed this ability - one, if not the only, other person in the RP who uses a ranged weapon as their primary offensive weapon.
%%* BattleAura
%%* BattleCouple:
%%** Nathan and Kira - for a while.
%%** [[OfficialCouple Joey and Erika]] also count.
%%* BerserkButton: Everyone's got one - some just have bigger buttons than others.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Kira. She's probably the nicest character in the whole damn RP and despite her ShrinkingViolet statues we've yet to see what she can do when someone well and truly pushes her BerserkButton.
%%* BFS: Eithne's sword.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: [[spoiler: ''Kira'' of all people seems to be showing shades of this as off the Beast Tamer Challenge. It's rather frightening actually, y'know, given the prior status as a ShrinkingViolet. Though BewareTheNiceOnes is all too true in this case.]]
%%* BigBrotherInstinct:
%%** Luke feels this towards Kira.
%%** Eithne adopted this attitude towards Tom, Heidi and Simon.
* BigDamnHeroes: Parodied and subverted, if only accidentally (though it was completely hilarious) by the Big Five's fashionably late arrival during the [[GreatEscape Breakout Arc]] when Shima called them out before [[CurbStompBattle brushing off]] a few of the contestants [[AttackAttackAttack stupid enough to attack him]].
%%* BigNO!: Multiple examples.
%%* Bishonen: As above, multiple examples.
%%* BlatantLies: What the Big Five are feeding the kids.
%%* BloodKnight: AN example here and there, Heidi sticks out though.
%%* BoomHeadshot: Paul's M.O.
%%* BreakingTheFourthWall: Has happened once or twice.
* BreakTheCutie: A general trait shared by almost everyone, give it's a CrapsackWorld and everyone's got a DarkAndTroubledPast - some have it worse than others.
* BreakingSpeech: Nathan attempted to give his own little version of one of these to [[ShrinkingViolet Kira]] when he found her waiting from him to wake up in the Infirmary after his fight with Eithne.
* BrokenPedestal: The Big Five were put on one of these after Shima planted the seeds of doubt during the Breakout Arc.
* ButtMonkey: Joey, much to his chagrin, is this for a number of characters - Heidi in partciular at times, made all the more funny by the fact she's nearly five years younger than he is.
%%* CallingYourAttacks: Parodied on several occasions.
* CerebusSyndrome: Whilst things were by no means cute and fluffy beforehand, things get noticably darker after Shima first pops during the Breakout Arc, because shortly afterwards people start ''dying''.
%%* ChallengeSeeker: Nathan has shown signs of being this.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Eithne's creator admits to him being hit by this - he went from rather comedic, lighthearted HeroicComedicSociopath to cold, badass JerkassWithAHeartOfGold. This sudden shift in characterization has more to do with his original characterization not really fitting in with the overall tone of the roleplay than anything else, however.
%%* ChekhovsGun: List to be added later.
%%* ChekhovsGunman: Amelia.
%%* TheChessmaster: The Big Five and Shima fit the bill here.
%%** With both showing shades of ManipulativeBastard and the Big Five even moving slowly towards [[MagnificentBastard Magnificent Bastard(s)]] whilst for the time being, Shima is more of a SmugSnake than anything else.
%%** With his [[TheBusCameBack reappearance]] Shima has also changed direction from SmugSnake to MagnificentBastard. [[DragonInChief Oliver]] also shows shades of this in his own way.
%%* ChildrenForcedToKill: What it may lead to in the final week.
* ChildhoodFriends: Oliver and [[spoiler: Dakato/Pride]]. Which is the bases for a lot of which he does in rp.
%%* ChivalrousPervert: A few.
%%* ClothingDamage: Played straight and subverted - differs from fight to fight.
%%* CombatPragmatist: No one is above fighting dirty to survive.
%%* CoolBigSis: Heidi and Erika could be seen as this to Simon and Elena respectively.
* CoolSword:
** A few characters, including Nathan, Luke and Zackary, all carry swords with them. I'm pretty sure someone even carries a katana. Why? [[KatanasAreJustBetter Simple]].
** Eithne gets himself a {{BFS}} that's an expy of the new [[Manga/{{Bleach}} Zangetsu]] design from the latest arc shortly before defection.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Was part of Eithne's character originally, was [[{{Retcon}} rectonned]] out. See CharacterizationMarchesOn and his individual character sheet for a great explanation.
* CurbStompBattle: A few have happened. Shima vs. the Contestants and Oliver and Pride vs. Eithne and Sabina being the most notable. [[spoiler: Though only the latter battle actually had someone KilledOffForReal; Sabina]].
%%* DarkIsNotEvil: [[spoiler: Shima and his lot - given they're all WellIntentionedExtremist]].
%%* DarkIsEvil: Nathan, evnetually.
%%* DeadpanSnarker: Everyone's had a shot at being this at least once.
%%* DealWithTheDevil: Agreeing to join [[BigBad Shima]] could be seen as this.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Nathan and Eithne subvert this during their first few clashes, though no one really wins any of those. Eithne eventually wins one and the closests they ever get to friends is AloofAlly / EnemyMine.
%%* DesignatedMonkey: [[BlessedWithSuck Joey.]]
* {{Determinator}}: Eithne fits the bill. Others, such as Luke and even [[TookALevelInBadass Paul during his battle in the Breakout Arc]] could also qualify.
%%* DidWeJustHaveTeaWithCthulhu: Fits some of the interactions with the Big Five rather well.
%%* DoubleEntendre: All over the place.
%%* TheDragon: [[spoiler: Lillian is TheDragon of the FiveManBand]].
%%* DragonInChief: Oliver's job description in a nutshell.
%%* DiscardAndDraw: Nathan's power allows him to do this.
%%* DissonantSerenity: Shima.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: E - L]]
%%* ElementalBaggage: A few characters suffer from the effects of this.
%%* ExplainingYourPowerToTheEnemy: Inverted, Averted and Subverted on occasion.
%%* FlashStep: Super Speed.
%%* FightingYourFriend: Happens as the plot progresses.
%%* GeniusDitz: Amelia.
%%* GenreSavvy: A few characters have shown symptoms of this, but the closest to being full blown GenreSavvy is, surprisingly, Percival. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] on various occassions and a few people have tried to play this for laughs. [[EpicFail It didn't work]].
* GreatEscape: Breakout Arc. Doubles as MeaningfulName - seeing as that's when the plot was dialed up to eleven and things really began to [[{{Pun}} break out]] all over the place.
%%* GunKata: Paul.
%%* GunsAreWorthless: Many contestants seem to believe this, for some reason. Paul, and of recently, Eithne being the only exceptions.
* HandSignals: How the character of Silence communicates with others, because for some reason, his Flow takes away his ability to talk.
* HandWave: Played straight during the chimera challenge when one of the contestants asked The Big Five where the chimeras had come from and they got waved off as an answer then they [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] the whole thing as they walked off to resume the challenge.
** Even if accidental, it was [[RuleOfFunny humorous]].
** GenreBlindness made him forget one important rule when doing this however: BewareTheNiceOnes. Kira delivered a ShutUpHannibal which doubles and/or sets up what appears to be Kira [[TookALevelInBadAss taking a level in Bad Ass]].
** Eithne also gave Nathan one during their fight by way of pushing his greatest BerserkButton.
* HatesBeingTouched:
** Eithne, until he got a lid on his powers and grew out of it.
** Simon too, given that direct skin on skin human contact in any possible form could ''kill'' him.
%%* HiddenVillain
* HonorBeforeReason: Eithne is ''very'' guilty of this, usually doubles up as a LeeroyJenkins. Averted in the LeeroyJenkins department, at least ever since he TookALevelInBadass; that doesn't stop him from considering his code of honor before all else at times, though.
%%* HotBlooded: A few characters could be classed as this.
%%* IAmNotLeftHanded: ''Everyone'' is guilty of pulling this at least once.
%%* IAmYourOpponent: A few cases of this.
* ICanStillFight: Eithne during the chimera challenge - which also earns him his Determinator status.
%%* ImageSong: If the themes picked by the characters creator count.
%%* ImplausibleFencingPowers: Zackary.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Paul averts this, seeing as he already has plenty of experience with guns prior to the start of the RP whilst Eithne [[InvokedTrope invoked this trope]] in his fight with Nathan, though it also counts as a subversion given he's been shown throwing and aiming things, mainly [[TrademarkFavoriteFood apples]] at various points prior and it's taught him to have reasonable aim, yet he'd never really fired a gun prior to using it in the fight.
%%* ItsAllAboutMe: Nathan.
%%* JerkAss: Nathan, unsurprisingly.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Eithne is this at times, other times he's just straight up JerkAss. Joey had a moment as one of these during the Breakout Arc during the face off with Shima.
* KickTheDog:
** Nathan does this brilliantly at times. Others are just as guilty, Nathan just does it better.
** Oliver kicks a whole bunch of puppies by ordering [[spoiler's Sabina's death]].
%%* KillItWithFire: Luke.
%%* KillItWithIce: Nathan.
%%* KnightOfCerebus: Shima, again.
%%* LampshadeHanging: On a few occasions, though only one or two are note worthy. And others are just groan inducing.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Surprisingly, Percival is more guilty of this than anyone thus far. Must come with the territory of being the most GenreSavvy character...
* LeeroyJenkins:
** Once again, Eithne is very guilty of this during his first confrontation with Heidi. Averted since then.
** The beast [[PowerTrio Joey's team]] is paired up with during the Beast Tamer Challenge thinks about pulling this off, [[ButtMonkey Joey]] [[LampshadeHanging Lampshades]] that it would be a [[GenreSavvy very bad]] idea.
%%* LoveTriangle: Depending on how the next few days go, the situation with [[OneTrueThreesome Luke, Kira and Nathan]] could end up morphing into one of these.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: M -S]]
* MamaBear: Heidi and Erika to Simon and Elena, respectively. You so much look at either of these two kids wrong with Heidi and Erika around and prepare to run. Ironically, Suvi plays both Heidi and Elena, whilst Rand is the reverse with Erika and Simon. Hmm...
%%* TheMedic: Shepard, Amelia and the NPC nurses.
* MindRape:
** The fear-inducing fog in the maze challenge, also hint to Anya's Flow.
** What Shima did to [[spoiler: [[BrainwashedAndCrazy Tom and Eithne]]]].
* MoralityPet: Heidi, despite saying that she wouldn't think twice about killing someone, treats Simon like her own little brother.
%%* MoreDakka: Subverted with Paul in that he knows exactly what he's doing, though this trope may or may not have been played straight during the chimera challenge.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: The Big Five. Shima now also qualifies as this. Nathan likes to think he qualifies for this. [[SmallNameBigEgo He doesn't]].
* NighInvulnerability: For the time being, The Big Five and Shima have this going for them except against each other. Oliver too, presumably, seeing as he too is an adult with a few years of experience under his belt and knows everything there is to know about his own Flow.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Eithne and Nathan try to do this to one another after a round of insults results in both pushing the other's BerserkButton.
%%* OddCouple: Both [[PortmanteauCoupleName Nathira and Joka]] count as this.
%%* OhCrap: Too many examples to list.
%% List them anyways.
* OneSteveLimit: Shima's group has two character's named Oliver. One is TheStoic DragonInChief whilst the other is an EliteMook. Was [[{{Retcon}} retconned]] into effect, with the the EliteMook being given a new name to help set him apart from the DragonInChief.
* OnlySaneMan: Shepard has shown signs of being this, at times. [[LeaningOnTheFourthWall Some of his thoughts at times seem to support that he agrees with this statement]].
%%* PlayingWithFire: Luke once again.
%%* PowerTrio: The teams of three. For details about how surivives which role in which PowerTrio see the individual character sheets.
%%* PsychicPowers: No explanation needed.
%% Actually, yes, it's needed. ZCE are not allowed.
* PutOnABus:
** The contestants sent to the Disqualification Room most certainly count.
** Shima and Co. went for a trip on the bus after the events of the [[GreatEscape Breakout Arc]] but it looks as though TheBusCameBack as of end of the first fifth of Part IV.
%%* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Eithne's HannibalLecture during his fight with Nathan doubles as one of these.
* RedOniBlueOni: Eithne and Nathan. Nathan and Luke also count, but they seem to be growing apart as Nathan slowly turns more and more antagonistic.
%%* RedShirts: [=NPCs=]
* {{Revenge}}: [[spoiler: Shima [[InvokedTrope invokes]] this trope as his entire purpose in the RP at first. Turns out he had a FreudianExcuse the entire time]].
%%* SayMyName: Percival, [[spoiler:when Shepard pulls a HeroicSacrifice.]]
%%* ScarsAreForever:
%%** Thadius, once again.
%%** Eithne also counts due to the fact he can't get a skin graft for his burnt right hand, it's not his only scar.
%%** Heidi also carriers a few scars on her arms.
* SeekingSanctuary: A synonym of the title of the RP itself; mainly what the characters are all after.
%%* SerialEscalation: We've had a fair few good examples of this.
* ShipperOnDeck: People, both in and out of the RP, seem to be cheering for [[PortmanteauCoupleName Lukira over Nathira]]. [[spoiler: Doesn't look like either of them will win in the end, though]].
%%* ShipTease: Oh ''so'' much.
%%* SliceAndDiceSwordsmanship: We have a few characters who are skilled enough to deserve this.
%%* SmarterThanYouLook: Eithne is this, as are many other characters.
%%* SmugSnake: Shima ''was'' this prior to his return in Part III. Nathan ''is'' this trope at times.
%%* TheStoic: Shima and Tom fit this quite nicely.
%%** Oliver ''is'' this trope.
* StoryArc: Each day seems to count as its own arc, so to speak.
* SuperpowerLottery: Some of the characters hit the jackpot in terms of cool and unique powers, others, not so much.
%%* SwordSparks: Happened once or twice.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: T - Z]]
%%* TalkingIsAFreeAction
%%* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Shima seems to have this going on with the Big Five.
%%* TookALevelInJerkass: This applies to Nathan. [[SerialEscalation he's slowly gotten worse as things have progressed]].
%%* TrapMaster: Paul proved he was this during the chimera challenge.
%% This is a zero context example. Please do not uncomment until further context has been added.
%% * TraumaInn: The Infirmary.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehaviour: With his limited knowledge of electronics and desserts, along with calling his father by his first name, Simon is known to show this to Heidi without even knowing it.
%%* {{Tsundere}}: Heidi personifies Type A of this trope to a T.
%%* {{Understatement}}: Shit loads of 'em.
%%* UnskilledButStrong: Could apply to some.
%%* {{Utopia}}: What the Big Five promise the contestants.
%%* VideogameFlamethrowersSuck: Subverted(?) with Paul and his use of the Flamethrower during the Breakout Arc.
* WhatTheHellHero: Nathan gets called out a lot on his own actions by those around him, more so than anyone else, at any rate.
* WhyDontYouJustShootHim: Could have saved Shima a hell of a lot of trouble during the Breakout Arc.
* {{Wildcard}}: [[spoiler: Nathan and Eithne are more or less this whilst they remain in the tower, yet are on Shima's side.]]
* WouldntHurtAChild:
** Played straight by the likes of Eithne, Luke and many more including Heidi - if her attachment to Simon is anything to go by.
** Subverted by Ven (an NPC), though a vast majority of the main characters could also subvert this if it meant protecting themselves and their teammates, because technically, they all are still kids.
** Big Five anyone? They play with the trope in a most bizarre fashion. Whilst none of them have directly hurt any of the contests thus far, from what we've seen, they're hardly protecting them by making them compete in life threatening challenges for a shot at {{Utopia}}.
