6	While Callum and Ezran sleep, Corvus clashes with Rayla, who manages to fight him off. In an effort to shake him, she hastens the group's travel and pushes the brothers up more difficult terrain. They find themselves up a snowy mountain where Bait inadvertently sets off an avalanche; Callum's wind spell shields them from most of the damage, but Ezran ends up on thin ice while retrieving the egg. Rayla tells Callum and Ezran about Corvus, and admits that because she swore an oath to kill Ezran, the Moonshadow binding on her wrist will eventually cause her to lose her hand if he stays alive. Callum attempts to hand the egg to Rayla, but her hand causes her to drop the egg into the water. Ezran dives in after the egg and makes it out alive thanks to Rayla breaking the ice, but he notes that something is wrong with the egg.

8	Meanwhile, Viren instructs Soren to announce that the princes are dead no matter what the search party finds (and make it true if they ''are'' found alive), while he instructs Claudia to retrieve the egg at all costs (even Soren's life). Although clearly unsettled, the siblings don't tell each other about their father's words.

While Corvus does believe that the boys are traveling with Rayla willingly when she states they aren't prisoners, he believes that Rayla is untrustworthy in all other respects and not at all well-intentioned due to her being an elf assassin. This exchange leads to her almost revealing the death of the King to the boys when she finally reveals her remaining secrets.
13	* CatScare: When Rayla follows the sound in the forest she bumps into a fawn.
14	* ACrackInTheIce: As a result of the avalanche, Ezran and the egg wind up on thin ice. They try to pass the egg to Rayla, but her injured hand makes her drop it through the ice, leading Ezran to dive after it and nearly drown himself.
15	* DrowningMySorrows: Soren eating piles of the jelly tarts after being told by his dad that the princes have to die.

28	* KickTheDog: Viren tells Claudia that if it comes down to Soren or the egg, to save the egg.
29	* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Happens to both Soren and Claudia. Soren is unaware that their real target is the dragon egg, while Claudia is unaware that their real mission is to kill the princes, not rescue them.
30	* MagicMirror: Viren has one among the treasures that he took from The Dragon King. He has yet to determine what it does, but he notes that of all the treasures in their DragonHoard, the King and Queen guarded this one most closely.
31	* MakeItLookLikeAnAccident: When Soren asks what he should do if he finds the princes alive, Viren tells him that accidents happen all the time.
32	* MistakenForRacist: Ezran misinterprets Callum's reasons for distrusting Rayla early in the episode, assuming that it's because she is an elf. The real reason why Callum distrusts her is that he can tell that she is keeping secrets from them.
33	* MyGodYouAreSerious: Claudia was quiet when her dad says the egg, even though she was joking about getting the egg or saving Soren.

38	* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: While on their way, Claudia blurts out that she's sure Soren won't die on the mission. This is due to being told by her father that she should choose retrieving the egg over Soren's life.
39	* WhatTheHellHero: Callum calls out Rayla for dropping the egg into the icy water. Though Rayla warned that her left hand hurts, Callum says she should have used her other hand.
40	* TheWorseningCurseMark: Rayla's hand is getting worse and she finally reveals the nature of her assassin's binding to the boys.
41	* WouldHurtAChild: It's been building for a while, but Viren finally decides to kill the princes, as he believes that they aren't old (or strong) enough to rule and will lead the kingdom to ruin.
