20	Not sure he trusts himself anymore, Sam decides to give up hunting and live a "normal" life. At night, a vision of his dead girlfriend Jessica visits him and tells him that people can never change despite their efforts.

22	A week earlier, Sam arrives at the Great Plains Motel gets a job as a busboy in a bar and catches the eye of a young waitress. While in Pennsylvania, Dean, intent on stopping the Apocalypse, continues hunting on his own. Castiel appears to him in his motel, [[HoYay startling him]]. Castiel asks him to help find the archangel Raphael, as Castiel believes Raphael knows God's location. Castiel argues that no angel will harm Michael’s vessel, and so Dean is the only one who can help him.

24	Meanwhile, after wondering why a busboy can finish a New York Times Crossword, the waitress Lindsey challenges Sam to a dart game for his life story. Sam wins, and they are distracted by apocalyptic events on the news.

26	Although Cas doesn’t understand the need for deception, Cas and Dean masquerade as FBI agents to question local authorities about a gas station destroyed in blinding white light. Cas keeps telling the truth to the officer who witnessed the event, to Dean’s chagrin. Later, Cas retrieves some holy oil from Jerusalem and tells Dean how difficult the impending confrontation with Raphael will be. Anticipating Cas’s death and realizing that he’s a virgin, Dean declares Cas is not going to ‘’die’’ a virgin.

28	Sam calls Bobby to give him intel on supernatural activity, and Bobby chides him for not working as a hunter as he is the best in the area. A group of hunters arrives at the bar and outs Sam as a hunter, trying to recruit him for a fight. Sam refuses, to their anger. Lindsey, the waitress is intrigued.

30	Dean and Cas visit a brothel and Dean fixes an uncomfortable Cas up with a blond calling herself Chastity. Offscreen, Chastity screams and smacks Cas before anything happens. Cas explains he told the young woman her father did not leave because of her but rather than he hated his job. Dean is amused as they make a run for it.

32	Lindsey talks to Sam, who tells her about leaving hunting. She recognizes he’s a recovering addict and she declares herself three years sober. She says he can be forgiven and change, although she knows nothing about the supernatural elements.

34	Dean and Cas find Raphael's vessel and lure the archangel out with a spell, but are no closer to finding God, as Raphael believes God is dead.

36	After fighting off fellow hunters who wanted him to drink demon blood in order to exorcise some demons, Sam gets another late-night visit from Jessica, who turns out to be Lucifer manipulating him. He says that Nick's body was just Plan B, and that his True Vessel is Sam. He is convinced that, eventually, without any trickery or lies, Sam will agree to be his vessel, although Sam adamantly disagrees.
