Desperate to contact rebel command, the Ghost crew steals a mining vehicle with long range communications gear, but the Empire arrives to spoil their plans.
----
!!Tropes in this episode include:
* AirVentEscape: Seevor escapes through the vents after being locked in a closet. Ezra is forced to go after him, despite his protests that he no longer does that.
* BondOneLiner: When Seevor dies, Ezra just says "Watch out" with a rather disturbing grin on his face.
* BreatherEpisode: While there are tense moments and the overall situation is serious, this is a more easygoing and humourous episode, with characters such as Vizago and even the antagonistic Seevor providing comic relief. It is ultimately the last light-hearted episode of the show, before CerebusSyndrome kicks in for the rest of the season.
* CallBack:
** Vizago has been enslaved by the Mining Guild after he was left behind for trying to grab a puffer pig instead of escaping with the Ghost crew when his ship was boarded by Imperials back in "The Occupation".
** The Mining Guild is involved once again.
** The song Seevor is listening to when they board is the same Zeb was playing back in "The Mystery of Chopper Base".
---> Zeb: I like that song.
** Ezra throws Seevor in the closet, from which he later escapes through the vents, recalling how Zeb threw Ezra in the closet Ezra escaped the same way, all the way back in the pilot. By extension, Ezra's habit of crawling through vents (which he did frequently in Season 1) comes up once again when the others volunteer him to follow Seevor into the vents. Ezra, after his post-TimeSkip growth spurt, no longer fits quite as comfortably and is audibly uncomfortable the whole time.
--->Ezra: I don't do this anymore.
** Zeb's resistance to electricity, first shown in "Droids in Distress", comes up again when the Trandoshan tries to shock him into letting go and it doesn't work.
** Ezra's disturbingly nonchalant response to Seevor's death echoes his response to the Inquisitor in "Fire Across the Galaxy" and the station in "Steps Into Shadow".
* CallForward:
** Hera is not impressed by the politics at play in the rebel council, which likely explains why she isn't present in important meetings in Film/RogueOne despite being the same rank as fellow squadron leader General Merrick and Alliance Intelligence officer General Draven, as well as being on base whenever those meetings are in place (as evidenced by when she gets called to the meeting room after the Alliance discusses the Death Star); she already knows the VocalMinority wants to surrender. By the end of the episode, she's promoted to general, the rank that background chatter in Rogue One will confirm that she holds.invoked
** Kanan can’t use his lightsaber to cut through a door because it is magnetically sealed just as Han showed in Film/StarWarsANewHope.
* TheCameo: If one looks very closely at the establishing shot of Base One with the Ghost, Kallus and Rex can be seen standing next to the Ghost, presumably unloading crates. Mon Mothma and Semaj can also be seen walking down the airstrip before the camera cuts to them.
* ContinuityNod: This isn't the first time Ezra has dealt with Trandoshans.
* ContrivedCoincidence: There happens to be an ore crawler within driving distance of the mountain the party ended up on, with a transmitter of sufficient power to contact the Rebels. Of course, the loth-wolves brought them there, so that may be intentional.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Seevor trips on Ezra's lightsaber and falls into a smelting tube.
* DescriptionCut: When Sabine suggests that they should check on Kanan and Zeb, Ezra says "I'm sure they're fine." Cut to Kanan and Zeb getting their butts kicked by the foreman.
* DisneyVillainDeath: The foreman falls to his death after he and Zeb end up tumbling over a railing. Zeb manages to barely hold on to the catwalk, allowing Kanan to grab him in time.
* DoIReallySoundLikeThat: Seevor's reaction to Ezra's impersonation of him. He even gasps.
* FamilyBusiness: Seevor says the one who spawned him served the Guild, as will his own spawn.
* GreenAesop: The Empire isn't just building their new TIE Defenders on Lothal, they're also strip-mining the entire planet.
* HeadphonesEqualIsolation: Seevor misses the people coming into his control room because he's too busy listening to music. That said, they were being very quiet.
* ImpliedTrope: The amount of close-ups on Ezra's lightsaber, as well as his smug, sardonic reaction to Seevor's death, seems to imply that he used the Force to make Seevor trip.
* KarmicDeath: Seevor dies by tripping on Ezra's lightsaber and falling into the furnace as he smugly charges towards Ezra.
* LightningLash: The foreman has an electro-whip. He manages to disarm and knock out Kanan with it thanks to the element of surprise.
* MythologyGag:
** The design of the ore crawler is heavily reminiscent of the World Devastators from the comic.
** It also looks slightly similar to the seismic tank from WesternAnimation/StarWarsCloneWars.
* OhCrap:
** Kanan's reaction when he's told of the foreman in the refinery area.
** The rebels when they learn that the Empire has ordered all its personnel off Lothal.
* PunchClockVillain: He's still one of the bad guys, but Seevor was expecting another day at the office instead of being raided by rebels.
* TheReveal: Lothal's devastation was caused by ore crawlers stripping every last inch of land. They've finished with at least half the planet if not more.
* RousingSpeech: Hera gives one to the rebel council to convince them to attack the TIE Defender factories on Lothal.
* ShoutOut: Zeb's fight with the foreman is scored to music that sounds very much like a nod to the fight between Indy and the German mechanic in Film/RaidersOfTheLostArk.
* SssssnakeTalk: The Trandoshans, as usual. Ezra mimics it when he pretends to be Seevor.
* WhamLine:
** Mon Mothma revealing the Empire is temporarily evacuating all its people from Lothal, hinting that they're preparing for something world-shattering.
** Hera calling in announcing the attack on Lothal is starting in one rotation.
