'''Ladybug''': I'm... I- I don't know! I don't remember my own name!\
'''Cat Noir''': Me neither...

Ladybug and Cat Noir have lost their memory and a mysterious villain is prowling around Paris. Will our amnesiac heroes manage to defeat Oblivio and turn him into just a bad memory?

----
!!Tropes:
* AchievementsInIgnorance: The primary joke of the episode.
** It turns out that Marinette is far, far more willing to be with Cat Noir when he doesn't [[CrazyJealousGuy try to force the issue]]. When the status quo is restored, he takes some comfort in the fact that there is ''a'' way she can requite his feelings...even if he doesn't know what it is.
** Marinette doesn't remember having a crush on Adrien or that he's supposed to be "perfect", so she doesn't turn into a nervous wreck around him and is able to talk to him normally for a change. The result? Adrien is near-instantly smitten with her.
* AirVentPassageway: When Oblivio chases them into a restroom, the heroes get away by going into an air vent that just happens to be large enough for them to crawl through.
* AmnesiacLover: Inverted - while amnesiac, Marinette and Adrien assume they're a couple based on the pictures in their phones, only realizing that they don't actually know the other's secret identity when Master Fu tells them.
* AmnesiaDanger: Neither the heroes nor their Kwamis remember how their powers work, putting them on the back foot for a chunk of the episode.
* AmnesiaEpisode: Ladybug and Cat Noir spend almost the whole episode with IdentityAmnesia.
* [[invoked]]AnimationAgeGhetto: Putting the DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything implications aside, Alya and Nino were embarrassed to be caught playing ''Super Penguino'' because it's a cutesy game ostensibly for little kids.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: This is revealed to be a natural ability of Marinette's rather than a superpower provided by the Miraculous, as Marinette is able to quickly create a distraction out of nearby items even when not transformed, [[WesternAnimation/ActionMan2000 AMP Factor]] sequence and all. Notably, Marinette sees the necessary items highlighted in black with red spots as opposed to Ladybug seeing them highlighted in red with black spots. Later, Adrien proves he is no slouch either when he locates items to create his makeshift costume, and he sees them highlighted in black with the same design that's on his T-shirt.
* BigDamnKiss: This is the second time Ladybug and Cat Noir share a kiss, since "Dark Cupid". However, they both forget it. Fortunately, Alya is on hand to take a picture, so Adrien gets a lovely memento... and Marinette gets scarred for life.
* BottleEpisode: Most of the episode takes place mostly in one setting, with only a few characters interacting with the regulars outside of being TheVoice.
* CallBack:
** Marinette made a costume from cardboard boxes so that Alya could pose as a supervillain in [[Recap/MiraculousLadybugS02E8TheDarkOwl "Dark Owl".]] In this episode, Adrien fashions his own 'box-suit' so he can help Ladybug fight Oblivio without revealing his identity.
** Upon seeing their Kwamis after detransforming, Marinette calls them bug-mice creatures and Adrien asks Plagg if he's a genie. Both reactions reference [[Recap/MiraculousLadybugS01E25LadybugAndCatNoirOriginsPart1 "Origins Part 1".]]
** A poster for [[Recap/MiraculousLadybugS03E02Animaestro the Ladybug and Cat Noir animated movie]] appears.
** Upon summoning her Lucky Charm, Ladybug incredulously asks what she's going to do with it -- she used to ask that OncePerEpisode back in season 1, before she had gotten used to having to think outside the box, and with her memories gone so too is her familiarity with her power's eccentric nature.
* CellPhonesAreUseless: Zigzagged. Marinette remembers that they both have their cell phones, but both are low on power and locked. Once they discover how to unlock them, they can use them just long enough to get the information they need.
* ChangedMyMindKid: Plagg initially doesn't want to help and runs off by himself, but he comes through for Adrien in the end.
* TheChase: The early part of the episode has Marinette and Adrien pursued by Oblivio in the [[AbandonedArea evacuated Montparnasse Tower]], horror-movie style.
* CheapCostume: Adrien makes an improvised Cat Noir suit from cardboard boxes to help Ladybug while Plagg is AWOL.
* ChekhovsGun: One of the [[NoteToSelf Notes to Self]] left on the elevator wall is a drawing of a turtle. Marinette later realises that this is the contact photo for Master Fu, and calls him.
* ClosetGeek: Sabrina implies ChloƩ is one.
* CompromisingCall: [[InvokedTrope Invoked]] by Marinette and Adrien as a distraction for Oblivio.
* DeadlineNews: Nadja Chamack is once again affected by the akuma of the day. This time, she's forced to [[StylisticSuck awkwardly repeat the news off of a piece of paper]] in confusion because she doesn't remember being a reporter.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Alya and Nino wanted to erase everyone's memories due to their embarrassment of being caught in a closet together on a school field trip. They had been "playing a game" that's designed for two people to play together. At the end of the episode, several other canon couples (and extremely-heavily-implied-to-be-canon couples) admit that they also play it all the time. And one of the flashback images of Alya and Nino "playing the game" shows them actually about to kiss. In fact, the only people in the class who ''haven't'' played it seem to be Marinette and Adrien, the latter of whom says the game looks like fun, but of course he would need to find the right partner first...
* DullSurprise: Other than being slightly surprised that it was even possible, both Ladybug and Cat Noir have the same reaction to learning that Oblivio was both Alya and Nino.
--> (''Ladybug and Cat Noir at the same time'') "Oh, okay." ''[to each other]'' "Pound it? Pound it."
* EntertaininglyWrong: Due to their amnesia and mutual attraction, our heroes make two erroneous conclusions about themselves; Due to the amount of Adrien and Ladybug pics on their phones, they assume that they must be a romantic couple, which then leads to them assuming they must have already told each other their secret identities.
* EntertainmentBelowTheirAge: Alya and Nino's fear of being made fun of for playing a "kiddy" game like ''Super Penguino'' turns out to be unfounded, as most of the class enjoys playing it as well.
* ElevatorFailure: There's a moment of suspense when the elevator breaks down and Oblivio pounds on the top with blows that cause major dents. Marinette and Adrien strain to force the doors open, but it takes Tikki phasing through the controls to get them out.
* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: After unlocking his phone, Adrien immediately tries to call his dad. Since Gabriel is currently directing Oblivio as Hawk Moth, this is naturally doomed to failure. Plus, let's be honest, [[ParentalNeglect Gabriel probably wouldn't have picked up either way]].
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** Oblivio mockingly refers to themself as "Your BFF." Sure enough, they're a combination of the heroes' best friends.
** Oblivio's voice is clearly two distinct voices, one male and one female. The female one even sounds like Alya. Admittedly, this is much more noticeable [[RewatchBonus once you're aware of Oblivio's identity]].
* GenreShift: This episode takes a break from the usual superhero fare to dip into horror, only returning to the former during the climax.
* GoodNewsBadNews: Marinette uses this formula to tell Adrien that there are superheroes in the building to defeat the supervillain, but ''they'' are the superheroes and they no longer have their powers or remember how they work.
* IAmLegion: Oblivio uses the plural when referring to themselves, another clue besides the VoiceOfTheLegion that they are more than one person.
* IfOnlyYouKnew: Oblivio mockingly refers to themselves as "your BFF". Little do they know that their components are, indeed, the best friends of Ladybug and Cat Noir's respective civilian identities.
* ImpendingDoomPOV: At first, Oblivio is either hidden or shown like this, his perspective being tinted purple.
* InMediasRes: The episode begins with Ladybug and Cat Noir having been affected by Oblivio. They eventually hit on using Marinette's phone to check the news and see what happened.
* InternalReveal:
** Hawk Moth knows about Ladybug and Cat Noir's love for each other.
** Ladybug and Cat Noir learn each other's identities... [[StatusQuoIsGod and then forget them again]] thanks to Ladybug's ResetButton.
* ItDoesntMeanAnything: What Ladybug manages to say, in between fits of panicked stuttering, about the amnesiac kiss. (Cat, for his part, is so smug he doesn't even care.)
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Oblivio has the power to erase the memories of anyone he shoots with his arm cannon. Also, any memories acquired after becoming an amnesiac are forgotten with the Miraculous Ladybug due to those effects being collateral damage via Oblivio.
* LiterallyFallingInLove: When getting out of the ventilator duct, Marinette falls on top of Adrien. They apologize and separate, then laugh and look at each other fondly. This contrasts with how embarrassed Marinette was to trip and fall onto Adrien in the past.
* MadeOfAir: Oblivio is made of a purple mist with the exception of his ArmCannon and gloved hand.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Oblivio creating a giant EnergyBall in the sky so big it can be seen from all of Paris gives Plagg the final push he needed to return to Marinette and Adrien in order to help them, allowing Adrien to transform into Cat Noir and thus helping Ladybug finally defeat Oblivio.
* NoteToSelf: Ladybug's first Lucky Charm was a lipstick, which she used to write a note to herself on the elevator wall to call Master Fu.
* ReadTheFreakingManual: Ladybug and Cat Noir have user manuals for their powers in their phones when transformed, which Fu advises them to read.
* ResetButton: Goes double for this episode. After Ladybug uses her power to revert everything back, she and Cat Noir have their memories restored to the point before they lost them, all their experiences while amnesiac erased.
* RomanticFusion: A rare villainous example. Nino and Alya, who are a couple, are Akumatized together and are fused into a single being until the Akuma is purified.
* SacredFirstKiss: Ladybug was horrified to discover on the photo that she kissed Cat Noir in a consensual way. On the flip side, the photo makes Adrien ecstatic, but also sad as he can't remember this moment.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Plagg's initial reaction to the situation. A combination of seeing Adrien's face everywhere, the giant forgetfulness bomb, and Tikki's earlier lecture convinces him to turn back.
* ThrowTheDogABone: A big one for our cat boy. While both can't remember, Ladybug/Marinette is freaking out with the fact she kissed Cat Noir again, but Adrien/Cat Noir is thrilled, even if he doesn't remember.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: Oblivio speaks with overlapping voices, revealed to be Alya and Nino once the akuma is purified.
* WeNeedADistraction: Marinette and Adrien need several to escape Oblivio. There's a DingDongDitchDistraction (a fake CompromisingCall on a phone they can pull back), a visual ThrowingTheDistraction (drips from a coffee cup) and an EscortDistraction (Tikki opening a door downstairs).
* WistfulAmnesia: The protagonists remember the good parts of their lives (for example, their bond) much sooner than they remember the bad (that only they will be able to defeat the monster chasing them). And, naturally, it's [[BeingPersonalIsntProfessional Marinette]] who first remembers the latter.
* WordsCanBreakMyBones: Turns out that a Miraculous user saying the name of their special ability out loud will activate it whether they want it to or not. Ladybug accidentally activates Lucky Charm while reading her instruction manual out loud, and later stops Cat Noir from doing the same thing with Cataclysm so he can save it for when he actually wants to use it.
* XanatosSpeedChess: After Marinette and Adrien shake off Oblivio with the phone trick, Tikki drips coffee down the stairs to make a false trail while the humans go upstairs. When Oblivio declares that they aren't fooled, she quickly bangs open the exit door, fooling Oblivio into thinking the coffee trail was real all along.
* YouWakeUpInARoom: The episode starts with Ladybug and Cat Noir coming to in an elevator, with their memories gone and their transformations about to wear off.
