Liv investigates the apparent suicide of a mental patient, while Major does some investigating of his own into the existence of zombies.

----
* BadBoss: Blaine stabs one of his mooks' throats when his supply of Alan York's brains are taken by Major.
* BathSuicide: Scott's murder was made to look like one.
* BrickJoke: There's a news report about the astronaut who was mentioned a few episodes ago. [[BlackComedy He's gone missing]].
* TheEndingChangesEverything: Liv was hallucinating the Johnny that was hanging out with her ''and'' the Major she confessed to. Which ''doubly'' sucks since the '''real''' one barges in with bags of brains, telling her that zombies are real... and he's going to hunt them down.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: There are a couple of hints early on that "Johnny Frost" isn't really there. The most obvious one is his repeated misreporting of the weather. It's the same incorrect report every single time. There's also the scene where Liv requests his help climbing through a window and he refuses. His excuse is a rotator cuff injury, but in retrospect, it's actually because he wouldn't be able to touch her.
* FindTheCure: Ravi found the cure to the zombie rat.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: What Major has become.
* RedHerring: Twofold. Soon after Liv eats Scott's brain, she hears a voice, which turns out to be that of a little devil on a packet of junk food. So we're going into haha-funny-hallucinations, with only a little side-order of creepy when her detective friend sees her argue with a snack vendor. Nope - those are only distracting you from the ''real'' hallucinations, which are a) Johnny Frost appearing by her side (still comical) and b) her imagining patching things up with Major (with an utterly tear-jerking reveal afterwards).
* SideEffectsInclude: Liv eats the brain of a drug dealer, can't expect less from it.
* ShoutOut:
** "Hey, I don't have to tell you not to talk during {{Film/Vertigo}}, right? I don't want to hear about how any of the deaths are scientifically inaccurate."
** "So I'm gonna guess that no one's gonna let me watch {{Theatre/Harvey}}, either? Some real Jimmy Stewart haters here."
** [[{{Film/Apollo13}} Houston, we have a problem]].
** "It's not going to be Music/TheDarkSideOfTheMoon cold, but, yes, we are definitely in for some sweater weather".
** Liv's hallucinations resemble those experienced by the protagonist of ''Series/{{Wonderfalls}}'', right down to their cryptic nature and the use of a gruff-sounding voice actor, and the fact they come from inanimate objects. The hallucination even has an "I told you so" moment similar to what Jaye in ''Wonderfalls'' occasionally experienced.
* ShowWithinAShow: Peyton comments that she and Liv are fans of a zombie show named "Zombie High".
* ThroughTheEyesOfMadness: What Liv goes through after eating Scott E.'s brains.
* WhamShot:
** The Johnny Frost Liv has been talking to was all in her head. So was the Major she confessed to.
** The zombie rat is back to normal.
* WhatHaveIBecome: When Liv finally opens up Scott E.'s phone, she finally sees how she looks in Full-On Zombie Mode.
