4	As Hilda struggles to adapt to Trolberg and socialize with other kids, she ends up befriending a mysterious and talking black raven who has no recollection of who he is. It is up to Hilda and Alfur to try and restore the mysterious raven's memory.

8	* AdaptationDeviation: The episode is based on ''ComicBook/HildaAndTheBirdParade'', but basically the only elements from the graphic novel that carry over to this episode are the basic premise (the Great Raven loses his memory on the day of the Bird Parade), the main characters, and the scenes of Hilda hanging out with Trevor and his friends. A lot of scenes from the graphic novel [[AdaptedOut are left out]] (like Hilda and the Raven getting lost in Trolberg with Twig having to find them, and the two encountering a Salt-Lion in the harbor), while lots of new material is added (Trevor having a larger role that turns him into the antagonist of the story, the Sparrow Scouts making a guest appearance, and Alfur being added to the story).
9	* AccidentalMisnaming: The Raven frequently mispronounces Hilda's name throughout the episode.
10	* AllMythsAreTrue: Downplayed; while there is indeed a giant raven that visits the town of Trolberg every year, he admits to Hilda that he has nothing to do with bringing good fortune or being connected to the god the inhabitants of town used to worship, and that he's only going along with it because there was a bad harvest the year he didn't show up.
11	* AmnesiaDanger: The Raven can't remember any of his powers, or even how to fly, which becomes a problem when he is accosted by cats and Trevor.

22	* DingDongDitchDistraction: Trevor and his friends enjoy this prank and get Hilda to do this to Matilda Pilqvist. It doesn't go well. She doesn't seem to grasp that you have to run away after ringing the doorbell, and [[PetTheDog just ends up complimenting Tildy's flowers]].
23	* DistressedDude: The Raven becomes this for most of the episode, having only Alfur for help in an unfamiliar city. And that's before he gets captured by Trevor!
24	* DrowningPit: Raven's bird cage becomes this when Trevor knocks it into the river.

26	** Both Frida and David appear on the Sparrow Scouts' float and have a scene, before they officially become Hilda's friends and enter the main cast. Also, during the scene where Johanna tells Hilda she found the Raven in her room and put him outside, you can see David's parents in the crowd (though only seen from the rear).
27	** Trevor and some of his friends can also be seen alongside Frida and David on the school grounds before Hilda actually meets them a few scenes later.

29	* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: During their brief cameo in the crowd, David's parents can be seen with 2 children; a boy and a girl, both blonde. Who these kids are is anyone's guess, since they are never seen again after this cameo, and subsequent episodes that show David with his parents and/or in his house strongly suggest he's an only child.
30	* EarnYourHappyEnding: At first, Hilda didn't like Trolberg, but after her first adventure within the city, she began to realize she's going to have more amazing adventures than she thought. The episode ends as Hilda and Johanna watch the parade together as Hilda smiles at the fact that Trolberg isn't bad after all.
31	* EasyAmnesia: The Raven loses his memories because he was hit by a rock mid-flight, and recovers them just by having Hilda shout his real identity at him.
32	* {{Facepalm}}: Hilda earns one from Trevor when she fails to understand their games.

34	* FriendToAllLivingThings: Deconstructed here. Because Hilda has been mostly friends with animals most of her life, Johanna wants her to make human friends to be normal. That is why she didn’t want to tell her mother about the Raven, because he is another creature. But when Hilda confessed to this, Johanna explains to her that she’s proud of the fact that she can make friends with all types of creatures, she just wants her daughter to make friends with humans as well.
35	* GoodCannotComprehendEvil: Though not exactly evil, but Hilda definitely has trouble understanding why Trevor and friends do what they do.
36	* HopeSpot: At first, Hilda seems to instantly hit it off with Trevor and his friends. But then she has some awkward fumblings which make her come off as weird, and they reveal themselves to be brats.
37	* IdentityAmnesia: Raven can't even remember if he loves grammar or not.

39	** When Raven speaks after being hit, Trevor happened to be within earshot and saw him speaking. When a shocked Trevor rhetorically asks if he talked, Hilda, wanting to protect the Raven, says no.
40	** Later, when Trevor finds the Raven again, and confirms that he indeed can talk, the Raven says no, he didn’t, to Trevor’s face.
41	* TheJoyOfFirstFlight: Though she has flown on woffs before, the scene in which she rides on Raven's back is treated very much like this, for the both of them. Possibly because this GiantFlyer isn't trying to throw her off.
42	* MultiPartEpisode: Takes place after "The Hidden People" and "The Midnight Giant" respectively as the final story in the "Welcome to Trolberg" trilogy.

44	* PoorCommunicationKills: Because Hilda doesn't want her mum to know she's made friends with a bird over the human children she was last seen with, so she hides him. This leads Johanna to put Raven outside and getting captured by Trevor.

46	* YouHaveToBelieveMe: When Trevor is trying to convince his friends that the Raven DID talk, he tries to prove it by declaring it over and over. This, along with the fact that the Raven continues to not speak, makes Trevor look foolish to his friends, whom all laugh at him. And thanks to some antics involving Alfur, who is InvisibleToNormals, his friends all laugh harder.
