----
!! This episode has the following tropes
%%* AncientEvil: Lord Grudgemunger.
%%* AnimateInanimateObject: The singing scroll.
* ArtifactOfDoom: The Rock of Sages can be either good or evil (mostly evil when it's in the hands of Lord Grudgemunger).
* AstonishinglyAppropriateInterruption:
-->'''Narrator''': ''The 7D went to Mount Jollywood to--''\
'''Grumpy''': Stop it from blowin' its lid.
* TheBadGuyWins: Downplayed. The Glooms manage to overthrow Queen Delightful and rule over Jollywood for a little while.
* BlackmailBackfire: Hildy [[DidntThinkThisThrough didn't think through her plan]] and instead sends the 7D to solve the [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen mess she made]].
%%* BookAndSwitch: How the 7D defeat Lord Grudgemunger and save Jollywood.
* BookEnds: The episode starts with a song and then ends with a song.
%%* BreakingTheFourthWall: Happens a few times.
* BrickJoke: Grim mentioning his so-called Aunt Gladys giving him and Hildy the spell to turn Mount Jollywood into a volcano. Later he's seen writing a letter to "Aunt Gladys".
* TheCameo: Both the Magic Mirror and the Crystal Ball make their brief appearances in this episode.
* CallBack:
** The Rock of Sages was first mentioned and seen since “Welcome to the Neighborhood”.
** The story of [[Recap/The7DS1E13ATheJollywoodJam how the Seven Sages defeated Lord Grudgemunger]] is shown.
* ChekhovsSkill: [[LampshadeHanging As stated by Doc]], Lord Grudgemunger needed the 7D's (sans Doc) skills to get the Rock of Sages, for example:
** Sneezy's sneeze helped him find the green gem in the Black Diamond Dunes.
** Sleepy found the blue gem after taking a brief nap only to find a lump in it prompting him to search in the Leaning Tower of Mattresses.
** Dopey found the orange gem thanks to his PluckyComicRelief and [[FriendToAllLivingThings ability to talk with animals]].
** Bashful's ChameleonCamouflage helped him get the violet gem.
** Happy's [[CartoonConductor ability to conduct]] helped him get the yellow gem.
** Grumpy's HairTriggerTemper helped him get the red gem.
* CliffhangerCopout: A commercial break occurs after Hildy lets Happy-Water-Ballooney Day continue and gets pelted by water balloons.
%%* ComicallyMissingThePoint: %%Quotes aren't context.
%%-->'''Grim''': ''(writing a letter)'' Dear Aunt Gladys, how do you make the volcano go away?\
%%'''Hildy''': Grim! You don't have an "Aunt Gladys".\
%%'''Grim''': I don't? ''(resumes writing)'' Dear Uncle Gladys...\
%%'''Hildy''': ''[groans and [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere leaves]]]''
* ContinuityNod:
** The Shiffle-nosed Nergandingsliger makes its third appearance after "Free Teensy" and "Uncle Humidor".
** The 7D and Grim are one of the other people that do the tizzy, the third being Grandmommers Whimsical, and the second being Lord Starchbottom.
** The [[MediumBlending live-action dancing chicken man]] appears again from "Mirror, Mirror".
* CrazyPrepared: Apparently, in case of any volcanic emergency, you have to break open the glass with the scroll inside.
* DarkerAndEdgier: In the previous episodes, the Glooms would just come up with a ZanyScheme to overthrow Queen Delightful. This time they used a spell that almost commits ''genocide'' and forced the Queen to give them the crown. Then after the 7D were tasked to stop the volcano from erupting, Lord Grudgemunger uses it to suck out all the magic in the land including [[FateWorseThanDeath magic items that are sentient]]. To add salt to the wound, he creates a monster that almost ''kills'' the 7D.
* DarkestHour: The Glooms have dethroned Queen Delightful, Jollywood is in jeopardy due to a volcano about to erupt and Lord Grudgemunger has possession over the Rock of Sages and takes all the magic in Jollywood. Luckily things get better.
* DelayedOhCrap: When the Glooms realize that there's no spell to stop the eruption:
-->'''Hildy''': Grim, stop the volcano.\
'''Grim''': Okey-doke, Hildy-Wildy. ''[he leaves but then returns]'' Uh... how?\
'''Hildy''': Surely your Aunt Gladys included instructions on how to stop the volcano.\
'''Grim''': ''(takes out the spell)'' Uh, jalapeno & Hilde;o, Sloppy Joe. Nope, nothing about that.\
'''Narrator''': ''Then it dawned upon the Glooms''.\
'''The Glooms''': We can't stop the volcano!
* DePower: Lord Grudgemunger takes away all magic in Jollywood. Luckily, he gets all the magic drained from him.
* TheDoorSlamsYou: While trying to get the orange gem, a squirrel takes it to its home and slams the door on Dopey's face.
* ExactWords: Grim tries to stop the volcano by making it snow. It ''does'' snow...on the inside of the castle.
* {{Expy}}: The monster that Lord Grudgemunger summons with the Rock of Sages is clearly a PaletteSwap version of [[WesternAnimation/{{Fantasia}} Chernabog]].
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** The Glooms were given a spell sent by a relative of Grim's. Y'know, Lord Grudgemunger was a relative of Grim's.
** When we see Lord Grudgemunger for the first time, he wears a blackish-blue robe. Then when the 7D meet the narrator, he wears clothes that look a bit familiar.
** When the Seven Sages separate the gem fragments, one of them (who looks similar to Doc) stuffs the fragment in his hat.
** While singing, the scroll tells Doc to look for the indigo fragment in the Conical Cap of Truth. The scroll was referring to something else.
** Sneezy was assigned to look for the green gem in the Black Diamond Dunes. When we get a brief glimpse of the place during the scroll's song number, the sand looks a lot like pepper.
** Bashful was assigned to look for the violet gem in the Vines of Vamoose. Notice how the narrator calls the Vines of Vamoose "venomous".
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: Starchbottom is seen running like crazy while the Queen, the 7D and Grim starting doing a tizzy.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: Lord Grudgemunger has this when he uses the Rock of Sages.
* GotMeDoingIt: After the Queen does a tizzy, the 7D start doing it too and then ''Grim'' gets in on the action.
* GovernmentInExile: Being the legitimate monarch forced from her position, Delightful is still the rightful ruler of Jollywood.
* GreenAndMean: Lord Grudgemunger’s skin is green and he’s the BigBad.
* {{Hammerspace}}: Who knew these mattresses hide a ''lot'' of large and unusual stuff?
* HopeSpot: When the 7D put together the gem fragments to form the Rock of Sages, it looks that they’re going to use it to stop the volcano.That is until the narrator reveals his true identity.
* IdenticalGrandson: It might've been implied that the 7D are the descendants of the Seven Sages. And they look identical to the Seven Sages.
* ItMakesSenseInContext: The 7D being assigned to go to the specific places to get a specific fragment makes sense in context. For example:
** Happy, Grumpy and Doc were assigned to get the gem fragments that suits them. Happy was assigned to get the yellow gem fragment since yellow is a cheery and warm colour, like him. Grumpy was assigned to get the red gem fragment because of his HairTriggerTemper and red symbolizes anger. Doc was assigned to find the indigo fragment because indigo symbolizes wisdom and he is smart.
** Dopey and Sneezy were assigned to go to the places that suit them. Dopey is sent to the Sycamores of Shush because [[CuteMute he can't talk]]. Sneezy was sent to the Black Diamond dunes because it's filled with the stuff that makes him sneeze.
** Bashful and Sleepy were assigned to go to the places and get the gem fragments that suit them. Bashful was assigned to get the [[StealthPun violet]] gem fragment because of his ShrinkingViolet personality, and he was sent to the Vines of Vamoose because the whole area looks like his clothes. Sleepy was assigned to get the blue gem fragment since blue is associated with tranquillity and he is pretty laid-back. Coincidentally, another reason why he was sent to get the blue gem was because his clothes were blue. He was sent to the Leaning Tower of Mattresses because well, [[CaptainObvious he loves to sleep]].
* LeftTheBackgroundMusicOn: A variation of it. Turns out the narration was coming from Lord Grudgemunger (under the guise of the narrator) who was reading from a book this whole time.
* LiteralMinded: After Hildy states that everyone will be toast if the Queen doesn't surrender, Grim states he loves toast.
* LocationSong: Happy and all of Jollywood sing about...well [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Jollywood]].
* LookBehindYou: How Lord Grudgemunger steals the Rock of Sages and how The Seven Sages take it back from him.
-->'''Lord Grudgemunger''': ''(off-screen)'' Hey is that Bigfoot over there?\
''(later)''\
'''The Seven Sages''': Look! The Loch Ness Monster!
* LoopholeAbuse: The narrator states he needs to read the whole story, after Grumpy asked him to skip ahead. Then Dopey finds a way to end this story quicker and save Jollywood by writing an alternative ending.
* TheManBehindTheMan: Lord Grudgemunger was the one to send the volcano spell to the Glooms along with tricking the 7D into getting him the gem fragments that make up the Rock of Sages.
* MassOhCrap:
** When the 7D find out that the narrator is Lord Grudgemunger.
** When the 7D see the volcano monster Lord Grudgemunger made with the Rock of Sages.
-->'''Bashful''': '''''TRIPLE FLOOM!!!'''''
* {{Metaphorgotten}}: The narrator states that Grumpy was on a wild goose chase. [[CutawayGag Cue Grumpy chasing a flock of geese]].
* MusicalisInterruptus: The song "The Jolliest Land of All" abruptly stops when we see Grumpy being his usual self.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: The 7D use water balloons when they were fighting the volcano monster.
* MythologyGag: The episode starts with a book opening, similar to the original WesternAnimation/SnowWhiteAndTheSevenDwarfs.
* NearVillainVictory: After all the magic in Jollywood gets drained, and when Lord Grudgemunger uses it to create a large volcano monster, Dopey creates an alternate ending to save Jollywood.
* NeverTrustATrailer: From the promo of “The Rock of Sages”, you would get the impression that the Glooms are the BigBad of this episode along with the fact that the 7D are going to save Jollywood with the Rock of Sages.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Lord Grudgemunger (under the guise of the narrator) tells the 7D he needs to read each and every word in the book. This gives Dopey the opportunity to make an alternative ending so that he can read the whole ending and save Jollywood.
* OhCrap:
** When Sneezy realizes the black sand is pepper and when the pepper wave is coming towards him.
** When Bashful comes face-to-face with snakes in the Vines of Vamoose.
* OriginsEpisode: A part of the episode shows the origins of Jollywood and how the Seven Sages defeated Lord Grudgemunger.
%%* PowerCrystal: The Rock of Sages.
* PowerGlows: After draining all the magic in Jollywood, Lord Grudgemunger glows yellow.
* PreAsskickingOneLiner: Happy and Sneezy deliver some pretty impressive ones to the volcano monster.
-->'''Happy''': Hey good-lookin'! Over here! ''(throws water balloons at the monster)''\
''...''\
'''Sneezy''': You need to cool off! ''(sneeze-blasts balloons at the monster)''
* ProducePelting: Not really food pelting but the Glooms get pelted by water balloons by the villagers.
* RapidFireNo: Grumpy can be heard saying this when the Queen was about to give up the throne to the Glooms.
* RedSkyTakeWarning: The sky immediately turns red after the Glooms turned Mt. Jollywood into a volcano.
* RecordNeedleScratch: This happens with the song "The Jolliest Land of All".
* RecycledAnimation: There are several uses of this during the song "The Jolliest Land of All" [[note]]The recycled footage is used from the previous episodes "Uncle Humidor", "Doing the 7D Dance", "7 Frogs", "Surprise", [[Recap/The7DS1E11ABathtubBashful Bathtub Bashful]] and "Starchy takes a Break"[[/note]].
* RuleOfThree:
** Three ingredients are needed for the volcano spell.
** Bashful says [[{{Catchphrase}} "Floom"]] three times.
** Grumpy snarls at a dragon three times to get the red gem.
** Dopey shakes a tree with his rump three times to get the acorns to fall.
* SadisticChoice: The Glooms gives Queen Delightful one: either she gives up the throne to them or Jollywood is buried in lava. Even though she was reluctant, she chose the first option.
%%* SeasonFinale: For Season 1.
* ShoutOut:
** The Leaning Tower of Mattresses is a pun on the real-life attraction Leaning Tower of Pisa.
** Lord Grudgemunger saying "I've got the power" is a reference to the song by Snap!.
** Sleepy finding the gem between the mattresses is a reference to {{Literature/The Princess and the Pea}}.
%%** This exchange:%%Quotes aren't context.
%%--->'''Narrator''': ''The hills were alive with [[Film/TheSoundOfMusic the sound of...]]''\
%%'''Happy''': [[Film/TheSoundOfMusic Music]]?
%%* ShutUpKirk: %%Quotes aren't context.
%%-->'''Bashful''': ''(whispering)'' We gotta stop this!\
%%'''Sleepy''': Yeah, but how?\
%%'''Happy''': Teamwork!\
%%'''Grumpy''': Happy's right. There are seven of us and only one of [Lord Grudgemunger].\
%%'''Lord Grudgemunger''': ''[[[OffScreenTeleportation appearing behind the 7D]]]'' How touching. But there's no way I'm going to let you seven peons get in the way of my super ultimate plan!
* SkewedPriorities: Lord Grudgemunger states that he's about to control all the magic in the world, but worries about finding his reading glasses more.
* SnakesAreSinister: Apparently the Vines of Vamoose are full of snakes and are an obstacle that Bashful faces.
* SnowballFight: After making the castle snow, Grim asks Hildy to have a snowball fight and [[SilentSnarker the latter response by flinging the snowball in his face]]
* SplitScreen: This happens when the crown is removed from Hildy's head and is moved to Delightful's head when the latter is made queen again.
* StealthPun: The Narrator states Doc was having trouble of his own until Bashful [[LiteralMetaphor drops]] in.
* StockAudioClip: Hildy [[SayMyName screaming Grim's]] [[FullNameUltimatum full name]] is the same one used in "The Big Bash".
** Coincidentally, Bashful's scream was reused from that same episode.
* SuddenMusicalEnding: After defeating Lord Grudgemunger, the episode immediately ends with a song.
* TeamRocketWins: The Glooms [[TheCoup finally secure the throne]] after numerous failed attempts.
* TemptingFate: Happens twice. After finding the violet gem, Bashful states that he must've been nervous for nothing. That is until the sound of a hissing snake is heard. And after retrieving the gem, he says "Who's the man?" and then the snakes surround him and squeezes him until he goes flying.
* TitleDrop: [[CaptainObvious It's been dropped several times]].
* TookALevelInBadass: The rest of the 7D fight the volcano monster using water balloons.
* TransformationSequence: As the Narrator reveals his true form. His skin becomes green. His hair turns dark blue. When his transformation is complete, he reveals himself to be Lord Grudgemunger.
* TriumphantReprise: All of Jollywood sing a reprise of "The Jolliest Land of All" from the beginning of the episode after Lord Grudgemunger is defeated.
* UnexpectedlyDarkEpisode: See DarkerAndEdgier.
* TheUsurper: Hildy Gloom threatens to destroy the kingdom and makes Delightful relinquish the kingdom to her.
* VisualPun: The obstacle Bashful faces to get the violet gem are a bunch of [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahaetulla_nasuta vine snakes]].
* WhamLine:
** When the Hildy asks Grim to stop the volcano:
--> '''Grim''': Okey-doke, Hildy-Wildy. ''[he leaves but then returns]'' Uh...how?
--> '''Hildy''': Surely your Aunt Gladys included instructions on how to stop the volcano.
--> '''Grim''': ''(takes out the spell)'' Uh, jalapeño, Sloppy Joe. Nope, nothing about that.
** When The 7D have the Rock of Sages assembled:
--> '''Narrator''': Oh, but I'm afraid this story doesn't end with [the 7D] stopping the volcano.
--> '''Happy''': Oh, I betcha it ends with a song.
--> '''Narrator''': No. It ends with me revealing my true identity.
** TheReveal on who ''really'' sent the volcano spell to the Glooms:
--> '''Lord Grudgemunger''': I have been behind everything! Even ''I'' sent the Glooms the spell to make the volcano!
* WhamShot: The Narrator revealing himself as Lord Grudgemunger.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: It's unclear whether the 7D stopped the eruption or not since the episode immediately ends in song.
* WildTake: The 7D do this after Lord Grudgemunger reveals his true form.
* WhoWritesThisCrap: InUniverse example. Lord Grudgemunger says that he detests the ending of the story that Dopey wrote.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Literally. Apparently Bashful is ''not'' a fan of snakes.
