1	Barf and Belch are Tuffnut’s only guard when he gets caught in an old dragon trap in the forest. Things go from bad to worse when Tuffnut is faced with not only a large Typhoomerang, but also an incoming deadly forest fire that threatens him and both the dragons.

4	* AmusingInjuries: Snotlout gets knocked into a cart that rolls away and crashes into the docks.
5	* TheBusCameBack: Torch, now an adult, is the Typhoomerang that finds Tuffnut.

7	** Berk used to use dragon traps to eliminate unsuspecting dragons. Now that they don't fight dragons anymore, the traps are no longer needed, but there are still many of them armed and hidden in the forest. The episode starts with the teens going off into the forest to disarm any traps they can find.
8	** Torch being there is one giant call back to "The Terrible Twos", right down to immediately antagonizing Toothless.
9	** Hiccup using his dagger to untie Barf and Belch is similar to how he untied Toothless in the first film.
10	* ChekhovsSkill: All the tricks Tuffnut teaches to Torch come in handy when stopping the forest fire.
11	* CrazyEnoughToWork: Ruffnut's plan to find her brother again involves her retracing her steps, i.e. walking backward from where she is. Somehow, it works.
12	* FailedASpotCheck: Ruffnut fails to notice Barf and Belch tangled up in bolas when she finds Tuffnut again.
13	* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: Everything the twins do to try and free Tuffnut from the netter trap. Both of them are stuck in there by the end of the episode.
14	* FromBadToWorse: A single spark from Barf and Belch ends up setting the forest ablaze while the two of them and Tuffnut are snared in dragon traps.
15	* HeIsAllGrownUp: Torch used to be Terrible Terror sized. Now, he's big enough to carry Hiccup, Toothless, Barf and Belch, and the twins on his back at the same time.

18	* LiteralMinded: Ruffnut's attempt to fly Barf and Belch back to the village for help fails when Belch interprets Tuffnut's parting line as an order to come back, which leads to the Zippleback's weakness of conflicting interests between heads, causing the dragon to crash land.
19	* MischiefMakingMonkey: Terrible Terrors aren't monkeys, but the ones in this episode were certainly acting like this trope, throwing apples at Ruffnut from the trees for a few laughs.
