!![[AC:Volume I: Nagash]]
* A particular example is the process of Nagash's rebirth. Arkhan makes the sacrifices, puts the Crown of Sorcery on Volkmar's head, causing Nagash [[MindRape to start worming his way into Volkmar's mind and sift through his thoughts]]. Then Arkhan cuts off one of Volkmar's hands and presses the stump of the claw of Nagash against the stump of Volkmar's wrist. Magical tendrils erupt from Nagash's wrist before painfully and bloodily burrowing into Volkmar's flesh and enveloping him. His screams of agony only stop when the tendrils [[OrificeInvasion go down his throat and enter his eyes]].

!![[AC: The Return of Nagash]]
* Mixed with a moment of Awesome, the epilogue of the novel sees Nagash fully reassert his control over the vampires, fully disabusing them of their delusions that they ever approached his power. The world heaves in agony at Nagash's moment of triumph after he resurrects [[VampireMonarch Vlad von Carstein]] and [[KneelBeforeZod forces him to his knees.]]
-->''Nagash raised his claws as Vlad sank slowly down to one knee, his sword planted blade-first into the ground. There was a great roar, as of a thousand-thousand voices raised in agonised protest, and the world contracted like a beast in pain. The earth trembled, and the sky wept oily rain. And Nagash found it good. \

!![[AC:Volume II: Glottkin]]
* Festus the Leechlord's experiments to brew a super virus in the sewers of Altdorf. The sewers are described as dark and grimy, Festus is surrounded by human corpses which he collected to provide 'ingredients' and he is regularly visited by Nurgle daemons. In one encounter every corpse in Festus' laboratory turns to face him and says his name at the same time with one voice.

!![[AC:Volume III: Khaine]]
* Teclis' first-hand experience with his brother Tyrion's SanitySlippage [[SlowlySlippingIntoEvil into]] [[FaceHeelTurn evil]] could be considered this. [[RealitySubtext Evil aside, it could especially hit close to home for a reader who has watched someone close to them mentally deteriorate due to psychological trauma or a mental illness]].
* Turning it around, imagine how it must be from Tyrion's perspective; discovering that his own brother, [[BigBrotherInstinct whom he trusted more than anyone else in the world and had protected all his life,]] was responsible for the kidnap and [[OutlivingOnesOffspring horrible death of his daughter (who is suggested to be barely more than a teenager by High Elf standards)]] and how Teclis then only continues to compound his betrayal by [[TheQuisling facilitating Malekith's invasion and helping him murder the Phoenix King,]] all apparently at the behest of some mad god who only speaks to him.
* Avatar!Tyrion delivers a ''savage'' beating to Kohril after he attempts to deliver the Widowmaker to Malekith. Even the Aestyrion's Khainites [[HorrifyingTheHorror had trouble sleeping from Kohril's screams.]] When Kohril is finally executed, he has to be carried to the chopping block, and Morathi might have encouraged the executioner to [[CruelAndUnusualDeath take more than one swing.]]
!![[AC:Volume IV: Thanquol]]
* The Skaven go all out against the whole world, destroying Altdorf, Bretonnia, Tilea, Estalia, Karak Azul, Xlanhuapec, Tlaxtlan, Itza and possibly Araby, Cathay and Nippon. The whole of Clan Pestilens invades Lustria, wreaking devastation throughout the continent in ways not seen since the First Great Invasion of Chaos. The Horned Rat has unleashed its servants, the Verminlords, to help its worshippers.
** And the reason the Pestilens were able to devastate Lustria so badly? The Grey Seers pulled Morrslieb into a closer orbit, destabilizing the moon, raining boulders of Warpstone into the world. The Slann destroyed most of them, but the sheer strain was too much for them, and the whole race was knocked unconscious.
* Clan Skyre proceeds to one-up the Grey Seers in the worst way possible. How? By [[EarthShatteringKaboom blowing the moon to pieces]] with a big gun. Needless to say, if Mazdamundi and Kroak hadn't contained the damage, a massive meteor storm of pure warpstone would've killed everything and everyone on the planet. Even the Chaos Gods themselves were left speechless over Lord Morskittar's actions. The remaining warpstone destroyed Lustria and all of its inhabitants, except for a few Lizardmen led by the returned and undead Kroak, who pulled a ScrewThisImOuttaHere and fled to outer space.
* Duke Jerrod, disgusted over the fact that Lileath and the Lady were one and the same, goes to Bel'Akor and reveals her whole plan to him, most likely dooming Anorath and everyone in the new world to a FateWorseThanDeath.
!![[AC:Volume V: Archaon]]
* The worst thing possible happens... [[DownerEnding Chaos Wins]]. A third Warp Rift forms in Middenheim, and thanks to Mannfred stabbing Balthazar InTheBack, the Incarnates fail to dissipate it, resulting in the whole world being destroyed by a gigantic Warp Storm, killing almost everyone, including the last Bretonnians, the few surviving Tomb Kings, the Halflings, and many others. The volume, and the original Warhammer's story as a whole, ends with Archaon and Sigmar fighting over Ghal-Maraz as they fall into the Warp.
