6As a DarkerAndEdgier series which features the threats from outer space, ''Ultraman Gaia'' manages to fuel the anxiety of the viewers and became one of the well-known Franchise/UltraSeries to this day. EldritchAbomination aside, there are also other elements which are noteworthy of being horrifying even for a kid's show.
7* Gan Q's reappearance in Episode 31. It came back in a horrific, deformed state and it's not laughing as much anymore.
8* Episode 39 is full of this which doubles as TearJerkers. It introduces Tsuchikera, a kaiju who was once a scientist in Japan's Military Research Unit during the war. He vehemently protested against weaponizing an artificial bacteria he and his friend, Hirano created. Seeing this as a sign of anti-nationalism, his superiors would use him as the first human test subject, turning him into a monster. This would force him to hide away in a swamp, with Hirano bringing his only daughter, Chie around so he could watch her grow from afar. But even this comfort is brutally taken away when Chie dies in an air raid.
