Much work was done to have a more accurate Alice In Wonderland adaptation with some liberties taking place. The results capture the tale's surreal creepiness, if not more so.
------
* The film begins omniously with the gigantic, swaying hand of a metronome appearing in the darkness as Alice slowly sings "Cherry Ripe" in a slow monotone in front of this gargantuan device until she wakes up.
* Alice briefly encountered a puppy, which due to her recent shrinking to escape the White Rabbit, is now a gigantic beast to her, which sounds appropriately bestial from her perspective. If it weren't for her quick thinking of throwing the stick to distract it, Alice would've been in great peril at the hands of the Puppy.
* The Duchess' Baby, is a puppet that looks like a warped version of an infant. Alice was quite correct that it looked much better as a piglet retroactively.
** The Cheshire Cat, has [[Creator/WhoopiGoldberg Whoopi Golberg]]'s face superimposed on a puppet cat, which caused it to look even more surreal than the already creepy smiling cat, due to having a hyperrealistic human face instead of a normal puppet face.
* The March Hare's appearance- [[HairRaisingHare It is a warped hare head with one pupil much larger than the other placed on a human body]]. It even scared Tina Majorino, the actress who played Alice.
** The Mad Hatter's head subtly larger appearance indicates how he resembles the Liddel illustration if it were a realistic human, which causes it to look naturally off.
*** He also extends his arm to pour Alice tea in a casual, dissonant manner, which [[HumanoidAbomination hints that the Hatter might not be a conventional human]].
** When Alice reaches for one of the treats, she suddenly sees it has turned into a living turtle. A little while later, a pie grows crab appendages and the March Hare proceeds to smash it to have it go back to normal. This raises questions about if the other foods are alive.
* The Flamingos, manage to be surprisingly creepy with their focused and somewhat human-like eyes as well as their jaunty movement.
