12	Every {{musical}} thrives on this concept. Let's say the musical is set in the tropics. The singer is walking alone in a desert island; not a person is in sight. They hum the opening bars of a song and a few measures later their vocals are harmonized and a full band begins to play. This isn't realistic, but we are OK with it, because accompaniment and backup instrumentals make the vocal leads richer and more enjoyable.
