''Hundred'' is a LightNovel series written by Jun Misaki and illustrated by Nekosuke Okuma, which was published under the GA Bunko imprint from 2012 to 2018 for 16 volumes.

Mysterious lifeforms called Savages are attacking earth. The only weapon capable of countering them are Hundreds. Hundreds are battle suits wielded by a select few people known as Slayers.

Hayato Kisaragi wants to become a Slayer so he can earn money for his ill sister's medical treatment. To do so he enrolls in the marine academy city ship Little Garden. Day one and things aren't going well for him. Not long after meeting his roommate, Emile Crossford, who is strangely familiar with him despite the two having never met, Hayato finds himself being challenged to a duel by Claire Harvey, the Student Council president and strongest slayer on campus.

The anime adaptation covers the first four volumes of the light novel, found on [[http://www.crunchyroll.com/hundred Crunchyroll]], and [[https://www.funimation.com/shows/hundred/ Funimation]]. The light novel after Volume 4 is currently being translated [[https://taekan.wordpress.com/hundred/ here]].

----
!!''Hundred'' provides examples of:
* AbsurdlyPowerfulStudentCouncil: Claire, the StudentCouncilPresident, immediately orders the expulsion of two girls who were supposed to pick up Hayato at the airport, but failed because he hid from them. When Emile protests, Claire says that in battle, an order not obeyed could have fatal consequences. Hayato is then forced to duel her in order to spare the girls' expulsion order. Also justified as the Student Council are "Selections," who are employed by the U.N. to hunt down Savages.
* AdaptationDistillation:
** In Volume 1, Emilia reveals her gender and identity to Hayato when they're alone in his hospital room after his duel with Claire. In the anime, he doesn't learn who "Emile" really is until she suffers ClothingDamage from a Savage, which was when Claire learned the truth in both media.
** Volume 4 starts with Hayato, Emilia, Sakura, Karen and Mihal visiting Yamato, which is completely skipped over in the anime. Emilia's confession to being a girl ''and'' a princess is also limited to a small group of recurring protagonists instead of Little Garden in general.
* AdaptationExplanationExtrication:
** Claire is surprised when Emilia's supposedly Dragoon-type Hundred [[MorphWeapon transforms into a completely different type]] during the latter's fight with Liddy, but Charlotte is left out of the scene to explain that Emilia has a unique Innocence-type Hundred.
** Claire seems concerned about rain starting to fall in the middle of her fight with the Olfreds, though the anime leaves out the explanation that Dragoon-type Hundreds have their beams weakened by such weather.
** In the light novels, Emilia crossdresses so she can hide her identity from Gudenburg. However, this is left out of the anime.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: The (technically) Japanese Hayato has noticeably tan skin compared to his sister Karen, though she has been cooped up in a hospital room for quite some time. Liddy, who is from the [[FantasyCounterpartCulture United States of Liberia]] like Claire, also has very dark skin. Less ambiguous with the Olfred siblings, who are Middle Eastern.
* ArrangedMarriage: After the Garden Festa, Emilia takes Hayato back to Gudenberg to convince her father that she's already taken, so she can get out of an arranged marriage with Prince Douglas of Wenz. Her father readily agrees, but Douglas himself won't allow it unless Hayato beats him in a duel.
* BabiesEverAfter: [[spoiler:At the end of ''Hundred'', Emilia announces that she's retiring partly because she's gotten pregnant, as she and Hayato had sex in Volumes 12-13. By the epilogue 15 years later, the pregnancy resulted in a daughter named Mito, followed by a son named Kaito. Judal also had a son named Jake with his bodyguard Neevah (though Judal was killed before the birth), and Fritz and Reitia have a daughter.]]
* BetaCouple: Fritz and Reitia have a ChildhoodFriendRomance like Emilia and Hayato, though their relationship plays second fiddle to the latter (and its competition) in the narrative.
* {{BFG}}: Claire's multiple guns can combine into a large one.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: Emilia met Hayato in Gudenberg 10 years ago before they were separated during the Second Attack, and both had been eager to see each other again. Sakura also briefly met Hayato and Karen in an orphanage after the Attack cost them their parents. Sakura and Emile are arguing over who has the better rights to this until Karen one ups them by pointing out she has known Hayato all her life.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Emilia gets rather upset any time Hayato is spending time with another girl. Or if another girl shows interest in him. Claire and Sakura also have their moments. As do Erica and Liddy about Clair. Karen is the most subtle about it.
* ClothingDamage: Emilia gets her Variable Suit torn open down the middle by a Savage in episode three, which also doubles as an UnsettlingGenderReveal to Claire, who thought she was a boy up until this point.
* CompressedAdaptation: The anime adapts the first four light novel volumes, but some scenes and storylines are changed or removed to make the storyline fit into a TwelveEpisodeAnime.
* TheCorruption: A virus spread by Savages can turn those fortunate enough to survive into Variants, who have exceptionally high potential as Slayers, but they can lose themselves to the power.
* DavidVersusGoliath: Hayato only had his Hundred for two days before having to fight Claire, who's considered the best Slayer in the academy.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Claire nearly expels two girls for being late for her entrance speech. Her justification being that mistakes no matter how small should not be tolerated in the academy because on the battlefield even a small mistake could be fatal.
* DisqualificationInducedVictory: A variant that results in a tie rather than a victory. Although Claire defeated Hayato in their match, due to his SuperpoweredEvilSide taking form, she self-admits that she violated the rules she set for herself to do it.
* DraggedIntoDrag: The maid cafe in the Garden Festa believe they're doing this as they quite literally drag off "Emile" to wear a maid outfit. Only Erica knew the truth, but she wanted revenge for Emilia taking a picture of her in a maid outfit.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Even while they were working under Vitaly to antagonize Little Garden's Slayers, the Olfreds were adamant about not harming ordinary citizens. Seeing Vitaly's willingness to do so during the Garden Festa is a major factor into their HeelFaceTurn.
* {{Expy}}: The U.N. Council is reminiscent of [[Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion SEELE]], only communicating through monitors with distorted voices and conspiring with Judal.
* FantasyCounterpartCulture: The setting features thinly-veiled counterparts to actual nations. Examples include Yamato (Japan), United States of Liberia (America), Britannia (Britain), and Russiya (Russia).
* FirstGirlWins: [[spoiler:Emilia, who met Hayato before Sakura and ''long'' before Claire, ultimately takes both his virginity and hand in marriage.]]
* FirstNameBasis: Sakura insists that Hayato call her by her first name. When he starts casually mentioning it to the other girls, such as Claire and Emil, both of them get rather upset that he's apparently already friendly enough with her to do this.
* TheGlomp:
** Hayato is subject to this in his first encounter with "Emile", who seems unusually happy to see him for an apparent stranger. "Emile" also feels as soft and thin as a girl, and has a vaguely familiar face.
** Emilia herself is subject to this in Claudia's debut, as the latter hadn't seen her since she slipped out of Gudenburg and wants her to return.
* GratuitousEnglish: Slayers shout "Hundred On!" to equip their battle suits.
* GroinAttack: In Episode 5, Liddy charges at Hayato intent on beating the sight of Claire's exposed breasts out of his memory, but slips and falls on top of him. Once she realizes that she's sitting on him, she panics and presses off his crotch to hurriedly get off, leaving him foaming at the mouth from pain.
* HaremPowered: The trope is PlayedWith, in that Hayato gains a PowerLimiter through his harem because he's a "Variant"--a HalfHumanHybrid caused by his DNA being infected with the Savage virus. Using too much of his Variant power can cause him to go berserk, unless the Savage virus is put under control. He can do this by "giving" some of the virus to someone else, via a kiss. If the person wasn't already a Variant themselves, they will become one by kissing him. In addition to this, two other women in his harem ([[IdolSinger Sakura]] and his [[LittleSisterHeroine little sister Karen]]) can also calm out-of-control Variants with their music.
* HandOnWomb: [[spoiler:Emilia]] rubs her abdomen as she publicly announces her pregnancy in the final volume.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:The Olfred siblings side with Little Garden after realizing that Slayers aren't all bad, and Vitaly is much worse.]]
* InstantArmor: Slayers can manifest a full-body armament when they get serious.
* InterruptedIntimacy: [[spoiler:Hayato and Emilia's first sexual experience comes to an abrupt end when they sense Liza's energy and get startled by Charlotte's call.]]
* IntimateLotionApplication: When the [[BeachEpisode core group goes for a trip to the beach]], both Liddy and Erica fight over the "privilege" of rubbing sunscreen on [[ChickMagnet Claire's]] back, with Erica even offering to rub her front too.
* LapPillow: After Hayato gets knocked out for walking in on "Emile" undressed, he wakes up in his roommate's lap, appalled that [[StupidSexyFlanders he found comfort in what was supposedly a boy's thighs]].
* LoverTugOfWar: Shortly after Sakura joins Little Garden, Hayato winds up with her clinging to him while Claire tries to pull her off and Emilia trying to pull him away from both girls.
* MadeASlave: The Olfreds were originally orphans who were slaves and treated brutally before meeting Vitaly, who [[BitchInSheepsClothing wasn't actually much better]].
* MagicKiss: Kissing can apparently transfer active or inactive Variant viruses to people; the active version gives Slayers a power boost, while the latter can stabilize them if their Variant powers go out of control.
* {{Mana}}: Slayers use Sense Energy to enhance their bodies and activate Hundreds.
* MySuitIsAlsoSuper: Variable Suits incorporate pieces of the user's Variable Stone to enhance the use of their Hundred while worn.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: During the World Martial Arts Tournament, [[spoiler:Gert from Russiya's team absolutely pulverizes Touka. He was a {{Jerkass}} to begin with, and was further unrestrained by his Variant virus. Hayato, Emilia, Claire, and even Gert's own team have to step in to make him stop.]]
%%* OmniscientCouncilOfVagueness: The United Nations Council
* ParentalAbandonment: Hayato and Karen's parents died during the Second Attack, leaving the two in an institute for children who'd suffered similar losses, including Sakura.
* PervertRevengeMode:
** Hayato walks into his dorm room unaware that Emile is his roommate. When he sees Emile's suspiciously curvy figure with just a towel on, Emile gets flustered and throws among other things, a suitcase at him.
** In his duel with Claire he accidentally gropes her causing her to lose her cool with him.
** When Claire is sunbathing and forgets that her top is undone, she sits up and accidentally flashes him. In this case, it is her two underlings who attack the poor guy.
* PowerCrystal: Variable Stones, small crystals used by Slayers to summon their Hundreds. [[spoiler:They're made from [[GemHeart the cores of the very Savages that they're used to fight]].]]
* RedemptionDemotion: [[spoiler:Although free from Vitaly’s control, the Olfred siblings only regain 80% of their original power.]]
* RetiredBadass: [[spoiler:In the final novel, Hayato, Emilia and Claire decide to retire from fighting as Slayers, having worn themselves out from Operation Save the Universe. Hayato and Emilia had already planned to retire once the mission was complete, and the latter publicly announces her pregnancy as one more reason for her decision.]]
* ShowDontTell: Much of the action in the show is shown, rather than simply explained. For example, the student council explains what their job as Slayers entails, and easily disposes of the first Savage during Hayato and Emile's first combat mission. Naturally the next one then puts up a fight which then requires the entire group to defeat. Also, during Hayato's first training session with Emile, she has to explain to him the various things that's going on, such as him putting up a defensive shield to block incoming attacks.
* SuggestiveCollision: Less than a second into his duel with Claire and Hayato crashes right on top of her and even accidentally gropes her.
* SensualSpandex: Variable Suits may as well be second skins as they don't leave much to the imagination. The female version also exposes [[ThongOfShielding quite a lot of inner thigh]].
* SneezeCut: In Episode 4, Hayato asks Claire to get Karen a ticket for Sakura’s concert. Karen, who didn’t have the best first impression of the “drill-haired blond”, admits that Claire is nicer than she thought. Cut to Claire sneezing.
* SuperMode: Full-body Armament manifests InstantArmor that drastically enhances the Slayer's Hundred, though only a few are actually capable of using it.
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Anyone with the Savage virus acting up will get these along with HellishPupils, with a likely dose of crazy if it's not kept under control.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Variants can go on a rampage if their virus acts up, requiring other Variants' viruses to neutralize it.
* TeenPregnancy: [[spoiler:Hayato and Emilia, who are technically high-school students, have TheirFirstTime in Volume 12-13. In the final volume, Emilia announces her retirement from Slayer activity partly because she's gotten pregnant.]]
* ThanksForTheMammary:
** After crashing into Claire, Hayato tries to get off of her only to accidentally grope her chest.
** Hayato is egged into groping Emilia's breasts while she "crossdresses" as a maid, convinced that they're merely towels. After getting shoved on her, Erica shows off the towels that were supposedly stuffed in while Emilia sheepishly explains that he's groping her actual breasts.
* TheirFirstTime: [[spoiler:Volume 12 has Emilia, riled up from her Variant virus, asking to be Hayato's first after being assured that Claire didn't go that far when the two slept together in Volume 10. Despite [[AboveTheInfluence his resistance]] up until that point, Emilia gets what she wanted.]]
* TournamentArc: Volumes 7 & 8, respectively called the "World Martial Arts Tournament."
* Main/TrailersAlwaysSpoil: [[spoiler: the advertising poster, as seen on the page image above, shows Karen in a Variable Suit with her Hundred active. An alternate version on Crunchyroll's website doesn't even hide her as much behind Claire. Also it is quite obvious that "Emile" is female.]]
* TrainingFromHell: Hayato doesn't have a lot of time to be eased in with his Hundred before his duel with Claire so Emile just goes all out on him to force him into becoming used to it.
* TrialByCombat: After expelling two girls for arriving late to orientation and doing the same to Emilia for mouthing off at her over the issue, Claire challenges Hayato to a duel to revoke the three expulsions.
* UnsettlingGenderReveal: During Hayato's first proper fight with a Savage, Emilia gets her Variable suit slashed open, exposing her breasts to a flabbergasted Claire. She had already shown her chest to Hayato in the light novels, and in both media, he's much more concerned with the scar indicating that "Emile" was his childhood friend.
