!!Forbidden Book contains examples of:
* ActionGirl:
** Most of them, but Sakura and Caeria are the most prominent examples. With Sakura being the one to save Sato's life mutiple times in the earliest chapters. And in Caeria's case it's required considering she's a Bakemono Hunter as well as part of the [[spoiler: Bakemono Hunter Council.]]
** And Ai starting with Seven Sacred Keys. Sato teaches her how to fight and she even gets a couple of her own powers up and manages to take down some of Karou's clones all by herself.
* {{Anti Hero}}: Mainly Nori considering his general attitude shows a disgust of the ideal heroes like Sato. And Arashi at first as well as he was willing to sell out Sato in order to find Niji. Plus this quote, "As far as I'm concerned, the enemy of my enemy is my ally not my friend."
* {{All of the Other Reindeer}}:
** Sakura was abused by her parents, school, town, and society in general because she looked like a human.
** Also Arashi to a lesser extent as he was only this for the Fire-Bat Bakemono since he couldn't summon fire.
* {{After Action Healing Drama}}: After Arashi's fight with Niji.
* BadassAdorable: Ai from Seven Sacred Keys onward. She's a cute little loli who can take out grown men such as Karou all by her lonesome. She also was able to give Oino, the head of the Bakemono Hunter Council a tough time.
* BigBad: Niji. His name is mentioned in wary by both Sakura and King Akio. As well as countless other characters throughout the story. All of them know he's the real deal.
** As of Seven Sacred Keys, the new BigBad is now Jiro. And he constantly proves it by staying around much longer than Niji had and wrecking Sato in every fight they've had thus far.
* BigBrotherWorship: Ai feels this way towards Sato. Despite not actually being related in the slightest she still calls him big brother.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Sato eventually acts this way towards Ai viewing her as his little sister. Even calling her exactly that and giving her a kiss on the cheek in chapter 7. And anytime anyone tries to hurt her after that it's immediately followed up with Sato running in between them and shouting in rage something along the lines of "Don't you dare lay a finger on her!" And then he proceeds to kick their butt.
* CurbStompBattle: Sato's fight against Miharu in chapter 4. He got knocked around until his whole side was covered in blood. As well as his fight against [[spoiler: Niji]] in chapter 13. He doesn't even manage to get a single hit in this one.
** Also his fight against Kaoru in Seven Sacred Keys. He lost so much blood he was pretty close to dying.
*** And again in his fight against Yama in Space Journeys. And again, he didn't even manage to get a single hit in.
* {{Brainwashed}}: [[spoiler: Sakura and Arashi]] in Seven Sacred Keys after Jiro kidnaps them. Although the latter of which is eventually revealed to be [[spoiler: NotBrainwashed.]]
* {{Darker and Edgier}}: The Nahalia Empire Arc. Up until this point, the villains have all always been clearly villains. Despite some having good intentions, all of their actions have always been evil and they were well aware that what they were doing was evil. Now in this arc, the majority of the world views the very existence of humans as taboo. As a result of this they raid human territories every evening until Sato and his group come and stir everything up. Then when the King and Sato meet each other and are both utterly confused and completely appalled, it becomes a constant back and forth of the two sides helping and murdering each other and lots and lots of tears on both ends.
* DefeatMeansRespect: In the Sihalia Battle Royale Arc, this is how Sato earns [[spoiler: Nori's]] respect. Complete with the latter giving him a speech and apology. They still don't like each other though, there's just a sense of respect now.
* DespairEventHorizon: In the Nahalia Empire arc, everyone goes through this to some extent. But primarily Ai, who [spoiler: sees Yuuki's mutilated corpse before her own eyes]], Caeria who [[spoiler:falls to cannibalism in order to keep living]], and especially Sato who [spoiler: blames himself for getting all of his friends involved in the chaos.]]
* Arashi also suffers from one after he learns there are more Fire-Bat Bakemono in the universe only to watch them all die a second time.
* {{Determinator}}: Although more toned down compared to most Shounen MC's, Sato is still very hard to take down. {{Deconstructed}} in Seven Sacred Keys when he learns he has [[spoiler: Demon Bakemono blood.]]
* {{Face Heel Turn}} [[spoiler: Arashi]] in Seven Sacred Keys. And he doesn't hesitate to tell Sato that it was because he found out Sato's dad killed his dad. Or so he thought...He doesn't actually get away with many evil deeds though. The most he did was injure Ai.
* {{Jerkass}}: Arashi at first. Completely obsessed with his revenge and willing to sell Sato (or anyone else for that matter) at the drop of a hat just to find Niji. Later on in Chapter 14 he's revealed to be a JerkwithaHeartofGold when he [[spoiler: throws the tournament to let Ren win the prize money for his sick mother]]
* HappilyFailedSuicide: [[spoiler: Arashi]] in Chapter 19. Sato saves his life just by a thread to which he eventually responds with a teary smile, "Thank you."
HopeCrusher: Fear who purposefully makes Arashi's life nothing but suffering. He also did it with [[spoiler: Caeria back when she was younger by taking her little sister Aaero away from her.]]
* IdealHero: Sato shapes into this throughout the first story. Becoming a kind and caring peacemaker for the human and Bakemono races, carrying on King Akio's legacy.
* NiceGuy: Sato while prone to snark is still a genuinely kind guy. He's always willing to help anyone with their problems without a second thought.
* SacrificialLamb: [[spoiler: Simon]] in the Nahalia Empire arc. He was introduced as a pivotal character but died after four chapters from the start of the arc.
* SacrificialLion: [[spoiler: Bunka and Yuuki]]especially in the former's case as he has been in the story since the really early chapters.
* TheHero: Sato. And proud of it. After all, he is the main character and the guy everyone goes to when they need a favor or have villains who need thrashing. Plus it's what he's always wanted to be considering how bored he was with his life.
* {{The Power of Friendship}}: One of the underlying themes of the story as almost every fight revolves around everyone pitching in somehow.
* TheMentor: Hikaru originally intended to be this for everyone, but he realized Sato needed his help far more than any one else did and as a result trained him solely instead.
** Bunka also serves as philosophical mentor for him. Such as when he told Sato about how he shouldn't needlessly kill Bakemono. And look at the beast-like Bakemono as living beings too. Something he was failing to do up until that point.
* TheStrategist: Sato is able to come up with a variety of different plans to defeat his enemies, like when he defeated Miharu by using his surroundings and knowledge of things such as the fact that the Spider Bakemono's purple web is sticky to his advantage.
* TheRival: Arashi to Sato at first. Not only do the two constantly bicker about who is stronger, but they also will use any excuse to fight each other. They even use the tag team round of the Sihalia Battle Royale to finally get a chance for an actual fight. Later Nikio becomes another one, although Sato is much stronger than him and it's a much more friendly one than Sato's and Arashi's was.
* {{Took a Level in Badass}}: Sato who was pretty much an RidiculouslyAverageGuy and ended up getting saved by Sakura, the main heroine eventually not only returns the favor to Sakura but takes down [spoiler: Niji]] solo by blowing him up with a lighter. [spoiler: And he didn't even use his powers for the whole fight. Not that he could, but still.]]
And by Seven Sacred Keys, he can take down a whole mob of opponents single handedly with no powers and without so much as breaking a sweat.
** Ai took one in Seven Sacred Keys as well when she manages to defeat a Karou clone without any help, along with using an impressive strategy by combining her new water powers with her old defensive powers that even Sato would have to applaud.
*** Nikio takes one as well in the Nahalia Empire Arc. First he manages to stay completely still while being brutally slashed up by a squadron of Warrior Bakemono. And then he turns his head around, glaring at the group and coldly delivers this line to them, "If you can't even beat a rookie, you don't stand a chance in hell of destroying an Empire." And later on in that same arc, he manages to actually kill a different squad of Bakmemono that even Sato was having trouble with. Keep in mind this is all coming from the guy who is usually to scared to fight and nearly always misses his attacks.
* TokenAdult: Hikaru, and he even uses this as a reason to join the group. Sato says he can only join as a friend and not as a parent figure but he pretty much ends up being that anyway.
* {{Token Mini Moe}} Ai, who is eleven years old at the start. She gets older but her size and appearance never change.
