''Every Day'' is a novel by Creator/DavidLevithan and released in 2012. It focuses on A, who wakes up in a different body every day. A can control them and access their memories, but they're not aware of anything that happens. One day, A wakes up inside of a boy named Justin and meets his girlfriend, Rhiannon. A falls in love with her, causing a bit of a problem.

''Six Earlier Days'', a prequel-of-sorts, was released the same year, first digitally and later attached to the paperback edition of ''Every Day''. A companion book titled ''Another Day'' was released in 2015 and tells the story [[POVSequel from Rhiannon's perspective]]. A sequel titled ''Someday'' was released in 2018.

A [[TheFilmOfTheBook film adaptation]] was announced in June 2017 and released in February 2018, with Creator/AngourieRice as Rhiannon.
----
!!''Every Day'' provides examples of:
* AbortedArc: In the film, Nathan's crusade against A isn't brought up again after Rhiannon interviews him.
* AdaptationalAlternateEnding: [[spoiler:While A [[BittersweetEnding still leaves in the film]], it ends happier for Rhiannon, who ends up with one of her friends, while A is able to move on and start a new "life" in another city.]]
* AdaptedOut: Reverend Poole is absent from the film version, except in deleted scenes.
* TheAllConcealingI: A's gender, or even if A has one, is never stated because of the first person perspective. ([[CowboyBeBopAtHisComputer The publisher's blurb does refer to A as "him", though.]])
* BigBad: Unlike the first story, Someday clearly has one in the form of X.
* BlackGalOnWhiteGuyDrama: When A occupies a very attractive black girl [[spoiler:and tries to seduce Justin to get Rhiannon to break up with him. It doesn't work.]]
** Averted in the film, not only was the scene cut but Justin is played by biracial actor Justice Smith.
* BodySurf: A's main form of existence is waking up as a new body every day. This causes problems when one of A's bodies [[GrandTheftMe becomes extremely disturbed]] by the belief that he's been possessed.
* ButNotTooBi: A is attracted to both girls and boys, though the main person we see A with is Rhiannon. Justified, since A has [[NoBiologicalSex no sex and no gender]]. It so happens that A is in a male body when falling in love with Rhiannon.
* CantActPervertedTowardALoveInterest: When A occupies Rhiannon, this is why "she" doesn't fully change. In the film, A does shower in her body, but tries not to look at it while doing so and apologizes when they accidentally do, even though Rhiannon can't hear it.
* ChastityCouple: Rhiannon and A. [[spoiler:They try to have sex at one point, but A doesn't want to take away the virginity of the body A is occupying. In the film, however, they apparently have sex while A is occupying Alexander's body.]]
* [[ClingyJealousGirl Clingy Jealous Guy]]:
** A to Rhiannon.
** Justin, who usually ignores Rhiannon, becomes a CrazyJealousGuy when he spots A (in a male body) interacting with Rhiannon at a party.
* CommitmentIssues: A and Rhiannon's relationship is an interesting variety. A ''can't'' settle down with her reliably, no matter how badly A wants to, because of keeping on switching bodies. [[spoiler: This is part of why Rhiannon eventually calls off their relationship.]]
* DestructiveRomance: A's romance with Rhiannon ends up causing big trouble for her over and over, most notably when [[spoiler: Justin thinks she's cheating (which she actually was, in a way) and breaks up with her.]]
%%* DevotedToYou: A to Rhiannon.
%%* DidNotGetTheGirl: A.
%%* DoggedNiceGuy: A to Rhiannon, at first.
* DomesticAbuser:
** {{Downplayed}} with Justin but he's still a neglectful, jealous asshole who disregards his girlfriend's wishes on a regular basis. It gets [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] when, after being possessed by A, said girlfriend is stunned by how much more attentive and kinder "Justin" is. The only time Justin acts decently toward her is when he defends her from being called slut after they break up.
** Also {{downplayed}}, but all of A's pre-InternalReveal interactions with Rhiannon are based on deception. He's inside the body of her boyfriend Justin and never once occurs to A to tell her the truth, even after A falls in love with her. And that's not counting how A manipulated Justin to break up with her so A can be with her. Talk about {{Entitled Bastard}}s.
* DownerEnding: The book ends with [[spoiler: A deciding that a relationship with Rhiannon won't work, and running away from her.]]
* DrivenToSuicide: One girl that A occupies was suicidally depressed, and A stays in her body long enough to ask for help.
%%* FakeMemories: A can create them for the people that A occupies.
* ForegoneConclusion: You know from the beginning that it can't work out between A and Rhiannon, but it's still ''so sad''!
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Rihannon is blond in the film, with a sweet personality.
* HeelRealization: [[spoiler:After continually occupying Alexander's body in the film, A realizes that it's wrong to steal his life, especially when A starts ruining his familial relationships in order to pursue a relationship with Rhiannon.]]
* HomeschooledKids: One of the bodies A occupies is a homeschooled kid with an extremely strict, [[MyBelovedSmother overbearing]] mother.
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Rhiannon tries to take this attitude towards A whenever A occupies a girl. [[spoiler: It doesn't work.]]
* IncompatibleOrientation: Rhiannon to A, whenever A occupies a girl's body. Averted in the film as Rhiannon has no qualms about kissing A as a girl and even admits to liking girls when she is caught doing so.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: [[spoiler:The film ends with A leaving for a new life and persuading Rhiannon to start dating one of her friends who is perfect for her.]]
* KissingInATree: A and Rhiannon kiss in a treehouse towards the end of the book.
* KilledOffForReal: In Someday, [[spoiler: X kills Reverend Poole]] after being tired of his body.
* LetsJustBeFriends: Rhiannon's original suggestion for what her relationship with A should be. It doesn't work.
* LoveCannotOvercome: The ending of the novel, where A flees, realizing that the relationship will never work out and breaking Rhiannon's heart in the process.
-->[[spoiler: "I wanted love to conquer all. But love can't conquer anything. It can't do anything on its own. It relies on us to do the conquering on its behalf."]]
** [[spoiler: Averted in Someday. Despite the fact that they have no answer to A's Body Surfing, the two rekindle their romance anyway]]
%%* LoveConfession: A gives one to Rhiannon when A first tells her who A is.
* LoveTriangle: With Rhiannon in the center and A and Justin on either end. [[spoiler: She [[TakeAThirdOption Takes a Third Option]] and ends up without either one.]]
* MissingTrailerScene: The trailer for the film features a couple of bodies that A occupies that don't make it to the final cut of the film.
%%* MistakenForCheating: [[spoiler: A tries to set up Justin in this position, but it fails.]]
* MistakenForGay: Before A tells Rhiannon what's going on, A meets her at a party in Nathan's body, and A accidentally leads her to believe Nathan is gay. This turns out to work to A's advantage, because A gets to dance with her without Justin being worried.
* NoBiologicalSex: A has no body of his own, and feels no more or less comfortable when inhabiting a male or a female.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: When A possesses Amy, she is very touchy-feely with Rhiannon, which makes the latter very uncomfortable.
* NonHumanNonBinary: Due to being a disembodied consciousness who can occupy either sex, A identifies with both boys and girls and neither at the same time.
* OhCrap: A wakes up in the body of someone who is about to go on vacation, meaning A will start occupying bodies far away from Rhiannon if the vacation isn't called off.
* PrideParade: A goes into the body of a gay dude and him and his boyfriend attend a pride parade.
* TheReveal: [[spoiler: There are others like A, and Reverend Poole is one of them.]]
* SingleTargetSexuality: A towards Rhiannon. Despite occupying bodies for 16 years, A has never felt any kind of romantic feelings towards anyone except her.
** In Someday, it becomes clear that the feeling is mutual as Rhiannon doesn't stay with her new boyfriend very long after A returns.
%%* StarcrossedLovers: A and Rhiannon.
* TakeAThirdOption: [[spoiler:Rhiannon ends up with neither A nor Justin. In the film, she ends up with one of her friends.]]
* ThereIsAnother: Reverend Poole reveals that he goes from body to body, just like A does, except that he knows how to stay in one body for as long as he wants.
%%* WillTheyOrWontThey: Most of A and Rhiannon's relationship consists of this. [[spoiler: They don't.]]
%%* WrongGuyFirst: Justin for Rhiannon.
* UnusualChapterNumbers:
** Each chapter is a day in A's life, starting on Day 5994.
** ''Six Earlier Days'' takes this a step further with chapters named after earlier, unconnected days in A's life.
