!! The Movie:

* In Badger's first appearance when Rat spots him in the picnic scene early on in the film, he initially appears intimidating. Later on, when Rat and Mole get lost in the Wild Wood at night and come across his house, they knock on his door in the hope he will give them shelter. When Badger answers, he still appears as gruff and intimidating as he was when he was introduced. Then Rat explains that he and Mole need help, and [[BaitAndSwitch Badger drops his aggressive stance]] and kindly invites them inside.
* Mole encouraging Alfred the horse to join in with the chorus of "The Open Road".
* Both heartwarming and perhaps a very slight {{TearJerker}}: When discussing Badger, Rat mentions that he lives "in the middle of the Wild Wood, underground - not our sort of place at all". Mole replies "But I...it sounds just like ''my''...sort of place" with an enthusiasm that turns mid-way to thoughtfulness, almost wistfulness. It's almost as though he's having his first twinge of homesickness for Mole End (a {{Foreshadowing}} of his later outburst of grief). Rat was most likely referring to the Wild Wood being a bad place for them, which indeed Mole soon learns the hard way; but his words do seem to touch something with Mole. Perhaps that's what takes Mole off by himself to find Badger moments later - as well as wanting to get Badger's help to deal with Toad, maybe Mole wanted to meet another animal with an underground home, like the one he left behind months ago.
* The jailer's daughter doing her best to help Toad escape from jail in disguise, thinking he was given an overly harsh sentence of 20 years for only [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking stealing a car, driving badly and cheeking a policeman]].
** Also, when Toad upsets the girl by initially refusing to lower his dignity by dressing as a washerwoman, he immediately realises his error and comforts her, saying "There, there. You are a good, kind, ''clever'' girl...and I am indeed a proud and...and ''stupid'' Toad". The girl, touched by his change in attitude, gently kisses him on the head, and they stand together, hands clasped, ready to put their plan into action.
** An episode of the TV series that served as the film's epilogue showed that Toad hadn't forgotten the jailer's daughter, as he declares he is sending her a gold watch in thanks for her kindness.
* For all his faults, Toad truly cares for his friends, and is genuinely heartbroken when he thinks the Weasels have killed Badger.

!!The TV Series:

* "Badger's Remedy" sees the entire community of both the Riverbank and Wild Wood band together to find the ingredients for the medicine to save a sick and dying Mole. Even the ''weasels'' lend a hand, showing that although they'd never admit it out loud (the Chief claims to just dislike the idea of poison in general), they do have a soft spot for Moley.
* "A Producer's Lot" has Badger producing his 25th theatrical production for the Riverbank community. Halfway through the show, Toad (who had been trying to hog the most important roles as usual) stops the performance and reads a very moving poem, commemorating Badger’s contributions. Although he tries to cover up his emotions with gruffness, Badger is genuinely moved to tears by the tribute.
* ''[[WesternAnimation/ATaleOfTwoToads A Tale of Two Toads]]'' sees Isambard Toad, masquerading as the real Toad, try to set the Riverbankers against each other by spreading rumours. Yet when the fieldmice are evicted from their caravan, Mole immediately [[TrueCompanions goes to see Rat and Badger regardless of what he thinks they might have said about him]]. Rumours or not, he still considers them his friends and worth consulting on the matter.
* In the ''Oh Mr Toad'' episode, "Toad In Love", the others discover Toad has become [[UnrequitedLove infatuated with an actress who is already married]]. Compared to most of his other crazes that they roll their eyes about, the three clearly don't want to break Toad's heart in this case, and try to break the bad news to him as kindly as they can. Badger even gently ''hugs'' Toad afterwards when the revelation tears poor Toad's heart in two.
** After the bombshell is dropped, Rat makes one of his snarky comments which normally would have earned a laugh from the others. Not this time. What Rat says gets a DudeNotFunny response from both Badger and Mole - as much as Toad exasperates them, they [[TrueCompanions won't stand for innappropriate jokes]] about his misfortune. Rat even [[OpenMouthInsertFoot realizes his mistake]] and sincerely apologizes for his comment.
