* Given that The chapter, "Hector Alcazar" is just Nathan imagining the story Sam is telling him (and especially as it turned out to be bogus), it makes perfect sense that Hector Alcazar is voiced by Creator/RobinAtkinDownes. Downes has voiced several antagonistic characters throughout the series, so it seems a perfect voice for Nate to associate with a villainous character.
* Evelyn is basically an {{Expy}} of [[Franchise/TombRaider Lara Croft]], and sends two significant figurative messages:
** First, Evelyn is a subtle nod from Naughty Dog to the ''Tomb Raider'' franchise, from which ''Uncharted'' has drawn many of its influences from. Also, Evelyn giving Nate and Sam their mother's note book and regaling of the tale of Avery's treasure also serves as a figurative passing of the torch from ''Tomb Raider'' to ''Uncharted'' to carry on the action-adventure genre, which ''Uncharted'' did until the ''Tomb Raider'' franchise was recently rebooted.
** Second, Evelyn acts as a cautionary tale to Nate. Like him, Evelyn was an avid adventurer who tried to settle down and have a family. However, she could never give up her adventuring, which eventually poisoned her family relationships, resulting in a nasty divorce, getting disowned by her own son, and living alone in an empty mansion with only her past collected treasures as company. She is what Nate could have become if he had decided to choose adventuring over Elena.
* A subtle one. An early scene has Nate playing ''VideoGame/CrashBandicoot'', complaining about its lack of realism as Crash jumps over barriers and pits in an attempt to outrun various boulders. Later, in the booby-trapped caverns beneath Libertalia, Nate and Elena have to outrun impending doom (in the form of a corridor of exploding mummies), jumping over barriers, from the exact same perspective.
** There's also the scene where Nate has to run from a truck shooting at him with guns through Libertalia's streets, part of which has Nate running towards the camera just like a classic Crash chase level.
* During the Italy chapter, Sam points to a "radio tower" before Nathan corrects him that it's a cell tower. Sam is really out of touch with the world after all his time in prison.
* Nathan can take on loads of goons ''and'' prisoners in hand to hand combat and even more soldiers in gun combat through the past games, but can't beat Nadine in a 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 fight. Judging by her stances she's most likely trained in martial arts, which tends to exploit the plucky "Run in and punch" strategy Nathan and Sam tend to use. To boot, most of Nadine's attacks exploit their momentum, and it's not like they aren't stronger than her and able to throw her around when she fails to evade. She even acknowledges this in the second fight and only meant to stall the two, which good Martial Arts training specializes in.
* The true nature of Libertalia and Henry Avery's depravity can be quite a plot twist, if you're unfamiliar with history and the infamous heist that served as the start-up treasure they're looking for. The [[RapePillageAndBurn things Avery and his men did during the heist]] go ''far'' beyond what even most hardened pirates of the time would have condoned (in fact, several of his men later turned themselves in due to being traumatised by the atrocities they had committed), and it was so horrifying that the British royals had to put a bounty on him just to avoid a war. It's really no surprise that anything as noble as Libertalia would have been a complete scam coming from a man like Avery.
* The story of the two thieves and the crucifixion has an obviously parallel to the plot of the game, with Nate being a stand-in for Dismas, the penitent thief, but the analogy goes even deeper than that: [[spoiler: Sam is the jerk thief, luring Nate off his path under false pretenses and convincing him to deceive Elena.]] Elena is the Jesus figure: She saves Nate both in a literal and metaphorical sense and after repenting for his betrayal of her, Nate gets to join her in their own little corner of Paradise.
* Why the Wess. 44 (S&W Model 29 Classic) and the Desert 5 (Desert Eagle) don't appear in this game story mode despite being a series staple? Because they are expensive and impractical guns, so Shoreline prefer to use more practical weapons.
* Sully refers to Libertalia as a “Commie pirate sanctuary”. Many communist countries had huge personality cults of their leaders (e.g., Stalin, Mao, the Kim family). Then when you arrive in Libertalia, what do you find? Statues and paintings of the pirates, with Henry Avery the most prominent figure of them all.

* There's a flashback to Nate and Sam breaking into a sprawling mansion to take back one of their mother's journals. The owner of the house - a sick, elderly woman named Evelyn - meets them and dies shortly after. Considering how alone she is, imagine if Nate and Sam hadn't decided to break into her house. even if it was their conversation that caused her collapse, she would have died soon anyway and been surrounded by nothing but her dusty treasures. Depending on whether she was getting any regular medical assistance, weeks might have passed before anyone discovered her body.
* Considering how strategically placed the exploding mummies are in Henry Avery's passageway, and how long it must have taken to construct, it's likely that the mummies are colonists who were conscripted into building them and then killed to keep it a secret. Which also lends credence to Elena's theory that Avery had always planned on stealing Libertalia's gold for himself.
