* David having a strong dislike for girls makes sense when you consider his profession. Onmyojis as well as people akin to priests and mikos are known for taking vows to remain celibate, choosing to forgo any romantic relationships in order to maintain their spiritual purity and devotion. David developing rashes any time a girl so much as touches him can be tied to him not wanting his own spiritual purity to be ruined as a result.
* In the official site of the fangame, the main cast is drawn in a set of tarot cards based on Major Arcana which Foreshadowing foretell their personalities and actions in the overall storyline.
** Issei is portrayed as The Fool which represents beginnings, self-discovery and recklessness. Issei is the first culprit of the Killing Game and his deranged display after his reveal is what forces the characters to realize the gravity of their situation. Issei is also reckless in the sense that he left multiple clues that would lead to his discovery and made little effort to defend himself after being discovered.
** Koin is portrayed as The Magician which represents inspired action, self-confidence and manipulation. Along with fitting Koin's talent as the Ultimate Magician, the boy is also shown to be very intuitive towards the dynamics of his fellow classmates and is always a few steps ahead of everyone during the trials and everyday life.
** Chisa is portrayed as The High Priestess which represents divine femininity, intuition, secrets and withdrawal. Initially introduced as Konoe's new best friend, Chisa proved to have a questionable personality after attempting to murder Konoe. Thankfully, after working out their differences, Chisa ends up being one of Konoe's most trusted and reliable girlfriends past the first chapter.
** Kinji is portrayed as The Emperor which represents fatherhood, authority, and lack of discipline. Kinji can be considered one of the manliest guys in the cast and is shown to break down easily representing a lack in discipline.
** David is portrayed as The Hierophant which represents spiritual wisdom, education, and personal beliefs. As a professional Onmyoji, David is the TokenReligiousTeammate of the group. He's also shown to be very enlightened as he often gives words of wisdom to Konoe and her friends during times of difficulty.
** Marin is portrayed as The Lovers which represents love, self-love, relationships, and choices. Along with having very high self esteem as a professional maid, Marin is also shown to care about the group and strives to help them improve their relations to make things more harmonious. The best example would be her holding the all girl pajama party so the girls can rebuild trust amongst each other.
** Miruku is portrayed as Strength which represents strength, courage, compassion and raw emotion. Miruku's physical strength comes from her experience as a farmer and she has no qualms about using it to defend her friends from classmates who would try to harm them. She also isn't afraid to express her true emotions in any given moment. Also, the image of the card portrays a woman taming a beast which is similar to Miruku's experience in handling cattle and farm animals.
** Ryohei is portrayed as Justice which represents justice, truth, unfairness and dishonesty. Ryohei is regarded as one of the most respected figures because of his dedication to upholding the law and trying to maintain peace among the group. But as evidenced in the second trial, Ryohei is shown to take the concept of justice to the extreme by wanting to punish any culprit by any means necessary. This includes taking advantage of Miharu's BatmanGambit as a way of placing Tachihaki as a potential culprit. And of course he goes as far as to declare himself as Justice itself.
** Miharu is portrayed as The Hanged Man which represents sacrifice, surrender, and new perspectives. As revealed in the second Chapter, Miharu was forced into becoming a sacrifice by Ryohei as a means of turning the highly suspicious Tachihaki as a culprit for execution. The perspective part fits with how Miharu faced a lot of self-doubt and insecurities over her duty as a detective despite coming from a long line of professional detectives.
** Tachihaki is portrayed as Death which represents endings, transformation, and resistance to change. Throughout the storyline, Tachihaki is constantly at odds with Konoe regarding their contrasting beliefs in having faith and believing in others. Regarding endings and the actual concept of death, Tachihaki is revealed to have been the winner of the previous killing game by successfully creating a murder and getting away with it.
** Yukime is portrayed as Temperance which represents balance, patience, and self-healing. Yukime was an AllLovingHeroine who earnestly wanted her friends and classmates to reconcile their differences; she was also a patient girl who was willing to wait for her classmates to come to her after offering to reconcile with them. After her death and through discovering her apology letters, Konoe and Chisa are able to talk through their conflict and become better friends. Also, the image of the card features a woman with angel wings; Yukime was a NiceGirl who ended up being the first victim.
** Seiha is portrayed as The Moon which represents creativity, fear, and anxiety. While Seiha is a skilled conductor who has created beautiful symphonies, he's also the resident Cloudcuckoolander who has a tendency to say a variety of bizarre phrases while also letting his fear get the better of him.
** Retsu is portrayed as The Sun which represents positivity, warmth, and success. Retsu's talent as the Ultimate Supporter involves him motivating his friends and peers to gain more confidence so they can overcome any trial and stand out as successful.
** Coco is portrayed as Judgement which represents judgement, self-doubt and ignoring the call. Coco is known to make decisive remarks towards her classmates based on the actions they performed in a given case. She also has difficulty bonding with other people believing that they could betray her which leads to Coco preferring to be alone.
** Konoe is portrayed as The World which represents accomplishment, seeking and short-cuts. Konoe achieves her accomplishments not only by solving the class trials but also by reaching out to her friends in the hopes of bonding with them. She also tends to take short-cuts when given the opportunity such as when she wasn't able to fully accuse David as Mahiru's killer leading her to request Tachihaki to take over as the POV protagonist and finish the job.
* The executions continue the theme of having a cruel ironic twist pertaining to the culprits.
** Issei meets his death as he's chained to a stage floor while Monokuma, who's dressed as Theatre/ThePhantomOfTheOpera, drops a chandelier on him. In reference to the story, the Phantom cuts the chandelier to represent his control over the theater and its attendees. In this case, Monokuma asserts his control over the killing game by executing Issei who's delusions made himself believe to be the star of the show. Additionally, the Phantom also cut the chandelier to serve as a warning against his antagonists over how much power he has. Monokuma does the same thing to showcase to the other students over how he follows through with his threat of execution.
