'''Godzilla MMD''' are a series of short films starting with Godzilla Earth from [[Anime/GodzillaPlanetOfTheMonsters the]] [[Anime/GodzillaCityOnTheEdgeOfBattle anime]] [[Anime/GodzillaThePlanetEater trilogy]] (said trilogy written by Creator/GenUrobuchi) battling enemies that has appeared throughout the franchise, but eventually branching out into other kaiju.

The first film is a re-imagining of Godzilla Earth's fight against the anime version of Mechagodzilla. [[https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm33777718 The link is here]]

The second film has Godzilla appearing in modern day Japan, fending off waves of military forces, including the [[Film/TheReturnOfGodzilla Su]][[Film/GodzillaVsBiollante per]] [[Film/GodzillaVsDestoroyah Xs]], [[Film/GodzillaVsMechaGodzillaII the Garuda]], [[Film/GodzillaFinalWars the Gotengo]] and [[Anime/GodzillaCityOnTheEdgeOfBattle the Vulture]]. [[https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm35938715 The link is here]]

The third film, ''Planet Eating Wings'', can be found [[https://youtu.be/28qe6bT8gCo here]], which will feature the showdown between Godzilla Earth and his ultimate nemesis, King/Otaru Ghidorah.

The author has recently announced plans to remake the first film, and make a few other shorts in the same style. [[https://www.youtube.com/post/UgzXjWvk33y_30veYdR4AaABCQ See here for more info. English translations provided in the comment section.]]

A fourth film, a Shin Godzilla styled rampage starring a revamped Hedorah (fittingly called ''Shin Hedorah'') can be found [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebHWMNHBYtM here.]] And it is ''terrifying.''

A fifth film, ''Earth Destruction Order: Godzilla vs Gigan'', can be found [[https://youtu.be/OKSR-SElVno here]], featuring a showdown between the two title monsters using their ''Film/GodzillaFinalWars'' designs.

!! This page contains the following tropes:

* ActionizedAdaptation: While the films have their share of action, the trilogy is ''filled'' with kaiju action, with nearly the entire runtime of the first two films being an uninterrupted kaiju action set piece. This includes having an actual, drag out fight between Godzilla and [=MechaGodzilla=]. The third film features an epic battle between Godzilla and Ghidorah in place of the rather static grapple in ''The Planet Eater''.
* AdaptationalBadass:
** While no official stats are given, Godzilla Earth is depicted as if he's already reached his staggering 300 meter height in the anime trilogy, as opposed to 50 meters as he was at this point in canon. Likewise his beam attacks and strength are given a massive upgrade. He uses some of the city destroying abilities alluded to in the novels but never shown on screen.
*** {{Downplayed|Trope}} at first when Godzilla Earth goes up against Otaru Ghidorah. While he is able to fight back, Otaru Ghidorah easily brushes those attacks off and is clearly winning. [[spoiler:It's only after Mothra gives up all her energy that Godzilla Earth has the actual means to take down the Golden Demise.]]
** [=MechaGodzilla=] is likewise at the same height as Godzilla Earth, towering over nearby mountains, and puts up a much better fight than he did in canon. In the anime, he didn't even get a chance to fight Godzilla, and was destroyed before ever fighting him directly. Here, he uses all of his concept art and anime abilities, putting them to use in new and creative ways. While ultimately losing, he manages to deal serious damage to Godzilla Earth.
** While TheStinger of the second film only shows King/Otaru Ghidorah for a brief moment, he's summoned in full and has his completed body present before Godzilla Earth, and Ghidorah ''towers over the Monster King.'' The actual movie shows him with far more powers than he ''ever'' used in the actual film, including a BeamSpam attack similar to Godzilla Earths, Gravity Beams, [[GravityMaster Gravity manipulation]] similar to Shin Ghidorah's, the ability to fire a massive ConvergingStreamWeapon from his wings, and [[spoiler:straight up [[RealityWarper time and reality bending powers]]. Also, after Godzilla is finally able to hurt him, unlike canon he takes a ''lot'' more effort to finally put down. His final attack is a ColonyDrop attempting to crush Godzilla with the ''moon''.]] Also, in canon Ghidorah's projected max size is two kilometers, here [[spoiler:Ghidorah's full size implied to be ''larger than the Earth itself'', given his wings are able to encircle the entire planet when manifested to devour it.]]
** Hedorah was campy, but still dangerous. [[spoiler: Shin Hedorah is far more powerful, once it reaches its final form. It now has multiple eyes on its arms, its regeneration ability is more potent, and it survives the electrodes that killed it in its origin movie. Worse, in its new fourth form, it now has a gigantic laser cannon in its forehead.]]
** This version of Final Wars Gigan is able to display his skills and abilities far more than what the film shows. He engages Godzilla in hand-to-hand combat, even making the latter bleed on several occasions. Unlike the movie, where he's curbstomped by Godzilla instantly, he's able to go toe to toe with Godzilla and nearly wins.
* AdaptationalVillainy:
** This version of Godzilla Earth is presented as far more malevolent than his film counterpart, with framing and body language implying he's genuinely ''enjoying'' what he's doing and [[SmugSuper smugly destroying everything that stands before him]] out of hubris, as opposed to the canon version, who was more of a force of nature.
** Ghidorah has his usual sadistic personality, as opposed to a GenericDoomsdayVillain in the movie.
* AdaptedOut: The anime trilogy's cast never appears with the exception of [[spoiler:Haruo]], and even then he doesn't appear in person.
* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler:King Ghidorah blows both of Godzilla Earth's arms off.]]
* TheBadGuyWins: In the first film, Godzilla blasts Mechagodzilla to atoms. In the second film, he destroys all of the military forces and renders the entire city in flames leaving him and the Servum as the victors.
* BatmanGambit: [[spoiler:Godzilla taunts Gigan to charge at him, anticipating his dual chainsaws to get tangled with the grappling hooks Gigan lost during their fight.]]
* BigBad:
** Godzilla Earth, as usual, and taken up to an extent the anime never showcased. This Godzilla is almost ''sadistic.''
** King Ghidorah usurps the role from him in ''Planet Eating Wings''.
** Hedorah in its own short, as [[spoiler: Shin]] Hedorah.
** Gigan serves as the main antagonist for ''Earth Destruction Order: Godzilla vs Gigan''
* BeamOWar:
** Godzilla and Mechagodzilla challenged each other with their attacks. Godzilla won.
** Same goes to Godzilla Earth and Otaru Ghidorah who have several, the first of which Ghidorah wins. [[spoiler:After being empowered by Mothra, Godzilla Earth meets Ghidorah's Gravity Beams with a triple beam attack that seems deadlocked. Godzilla then fires a fourth Atomic Spiral Ray to knock Ghidorah's ass off.]]
** [[spoiler:The battle ends with Ghidorah and Earth doing this with the ''moon'' in the center.]]
** [[spoiler: The clash between Godzilla and Gigan ends this way. Godzilla wins, resulting in Gigan being completely vaporized.]]
* BeamSpam:
** Godzilla Earth unleashes a charged particle attack from his dorsal spines that fires towards all surrounding enemies. Interestingly, the beams are shown to have tracking abilities.
** Ghidorah is ''also'' capable of doing this, and ''opens'' the battle with it.
** Hedorah can do this now [[spoiler:thanks to the extra eyes on its arms, gastropod foot, and the giant one on its forehead.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:Mothra appears right as Ghidorah has seemingly killed Godzilla Earth and is preparing to consume the planet, providing Godzilla the boost he needs to put the PlanetEater down.]]
* BrawlerLock: Godzilla catches a double diving slash from Gigan, leading to the two grappling until Gigan tries to take advantage and gut Godzilla with his stomach saw.
* BrokenFaceplate: Godzilla lands a solid punch that cracks Gigan's visor.
* ColonyDrop: [[spoiler:When Godzilla powered up by Mothra begins overpowering him, Ghidorah warps to space and tries to drop the ''moon'' on Godzilla Earth. Earth counters with a super charged Spiral Fire Ray, causing a BeamOWar with the ''moon'' in the middle.]]
* CompositeCharacter: King/Otaru Ghidorah seems to have powers from nearly every incarnation of Ghidorah, as well as aspects such as the Monsterverse version's ability to run using his wings as limbs.
* CurbStompBattle: [[spoiler:Like in canon, Otaru Ghidorah dominates the fight between himself and Godzilla Earth. However, he starts to be on the receiving end of the curb stomp by Godzilla Earth's new SuperMode.]]
* DarkestHour: Towards the end of ''Planet Eating Wings'', [[spoiler:King Ghidorah has completely defeated Godzilla, leaving him maimed and lifeless on the ground, and prepares to devour the Earth. It's only Mothra's intervention that turns it around.]]
* DefeatEqualsExplosion: [[spoiler:Ghidorah's death results in an explosion as big as the ''Earth itself'', though fortunately he was outside the moon's orbit at the time.]]
* DefiantToTheEnd: Operation Black Star. Humanity knows they can't beat Godzilla Earth, but they're not going to wait to be annihilated. No, they're going down swinging with everything they've got.
** [=MechaGodzilla=], likewise, still draws its blades and stands back up as Godzilla Earth charges his final attack to destroy the machine. It's badly damaged, can barely stand, and its eyes are malfunctioning, but Mecha G refused to lie down and die.
* DetonationMoon: [[spoiler:when he begins losing after Mothra powers up Godzilla Earth, King Ghidorah attempts to [[ColonyDrop drop the moon on him]]. This results in a BeamOWar with it in the middle, ending with it and Ghidorah being obliterated.]]
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: [[spoiler:Godzilla Earth, with help from Mothra, completely incinerates Otaru Ghidorah to oblivion.]]
* EnemyMine: [[spoiler:When King Ghidorah is about to devour the Earth, Mothra, who in the anime timeline is an enemy of Godzilla, manifests and empowers Earth enough for him to destroy King Ghidorah and save the planet.]]
* EvilIsBigger: King/Otaru Ghidorah is at least twice the size of Godzilla Earth, putting him in the 600 meter range. [[spoiler:And that's just his physical incarnation. If his wings manifested when he prepares to devour earth is any indication, his true size might be even larger than the planet itself.]]
* EvilLaugh: [[spoiler:Gigan chortles as he prepares to kill Godzilla]].
* EvilVsEvil: The third film features Godzilla Earth vs. King/Otaru Ghidorah. While present in canon, this Godzilla Earth is far more sadistic and evil than his film counterpart, making it even more this trope than it was in ''Planet Eater''. However, Godzilla Earth wants to rule the planet, while Otaru Ghidorah wants to destroy it, turning the conflict into EvilVersusOblivion.
* ForegoneConclusion: The second film is set during the past when Godzilla Earth was rampaging. Obviously, the military fails to win and are destroyed. Even the characters are aware they don't stand a chance, but want to be DefiantToTheEnd.
* GigglingVillain: King Ghidorah uses a variety of different roars, but notably uses his Showa Era cackle, especially in situations where it conveys an EvilLaugh [[spoiler:such as right before giving Godzilla a MeteorMove from above the cloud layer as his middle head looks him in the eye]].
** Hedorah is head laughing as it looms in the city it just destroyed [[spoiler:surrounded by an army of its spawn.]]
* GravityMaster: King Ghidorah has this ability just like [[Ride/GodzillaVsEvangelionTheReal4D Shin Ghidorah]], on top of his normal Gravity Beams.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Mechagodzilla gets cut through the mid-section by Godzilla Earth's Plasma Cutter. The Garuda suffered the same fate.
* HealingFactor:
** Godzilla Earth instantly repairs his dorsal plates in an instant after it was blown apart by Mechagodzilla.
** Mechagodzilla also possesses one in the form of its nanometal. As such, Godzilla blowing a hole through its head is only a minor inconvenience and it takes being completely atomized by Godzilla Earth's Spiral Fire Ray to destroy it. Weaponized, as the blade launcher on it fires its actual spines.
* HeroicSecondWind: [[spoiler:Mothra channels all of Earth's energy into Godzilla Earth giving him the means to end Otaru Ghidorah once and for all.]]
* HopeSpot: Mechagodzilla blows off Godzilla Earth's spines and then impales him on his Hyper Lance, causing the monster king to go limp, seemingly dead...only for Godzilla Earth to wake back up and badly damage Mechagodzilla with his Oscillatory Wave and then destroy him with his Plasma Cutter and Spiral Fire Ray.
** Hedorah appears to have been destroyed by the electrodes that killed it in its original movie. [[spoiler: Then its clones, having already grown to their own Perfect forms, jump on top of its ruined body and merge with it, creating its new Shin form.]]
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Mechagodzilla transforms its arms into the Hyper Lance to gore through Godzilla Earth's chest. This doesn't work, though it clearly ''hurts'' and seemingly caused him to black out for a few moments from pain.
* JaggedMouth: As in canon, Godzilla Earth's teeth are an extension of his lips. The issue of lack of expression this comes with is avoided with clever camera angles.
* JustToyingWithThem:
** Godzilla Earth allows the humans to attack him with everything they have before retaliating with a SlasherSmile.
** [[spoiler:King Ghidorah does it right back to Earth, as not only could he have just eaten the planet from the get go, but he spends most of the fight fighting like a normal kaiju...until he stops playing around and starts pulling out his RealityWarper abilities.]]
* LaserGuidedKarma: [[spoiler:Godzilla Earth's fight with Ghidorah is essentially an inversion of his fight in ''Despair Trap'': he throws everything he has at Ghidorah, failing to make a dent...before Ghidorah completely demolishes him, literally tearing him apart.]]
* MacrossMissileMassacre: The first portion of the second film has humanity just unload with everything they got on Godzilla. It doesn't work.
* MakeWayForTheNewVillains: Godzilla Earth serves as the BigBad of the trilogy...until [[spoiler:King Ghidorah shows up and proceeds to demolish him and try to consume the Earth. This forces Mothra [[EnemyMine to power him up]] enough to take him down and save the Earth.]]
* MeteorMove: [[spoiler:King Ghidorah flies Godzilla Earth into the sky and then ''blasts'' him all the way back down.]]
* MirroredConfrontationShot:
** One happens between Godzilla and Ghidorah during their fight as they prepare to fight. [[spoiler:It also happens with Ghidorah and Mothra when she appears to help Godzilla Earth.]]
** Godzilla and Gigan have a brief one amongst the blazing rubble of the city Gigan created before the title.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: [[spoiler:King Ghidorah has the ability to summon multiples of his body parts through black holes to use in combat, most prominently spending a good chunk of the final battle with four wings.]]
* MythologyGag:
** Mechagodzilla's wide range of abilities and transformations are based on concept art for its debut film and are actually canon.
** Godzilla Earth's spine attack is based on his predecessor's in Film/ShinGodzilla.
** Godzilla doesn't fall for the Super X-2's heat mirror trap as he did in Film/GodzillaVsBiollante, giving the thing an annoyed glance as if he recognizes the machine.
** The scenes shown in the third movie like Godzilla and King Ghidorah charging at each other and [[spoiler:King Ghidorah grappling Godzilla Earth up into the air]] are based on Film/GodzillaKingOfTheMonsters2019.
** While an exploding black hole instead of a meteor, King Ghidorah arrives by manifesting out of the fires of an explosion like in his original film.
** Hedorah falls into the same electrode trap that killed it originally. Unlike that film, there's no Godzilla to finish the job, so Hedorah has a countermeasure: [[spoiler:backup.]]
** Gigan's brief skirmish with the fighter jets is based on Rodan's from ''Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)'', including using the latter's SpinAttack.
** Godzilla's engagement with the military ships are based on ''Film/Godzilla2014'' and ''Film/GodzillaVsKong''.
** Godzilla tossing [[spoiler:Gigan]] around is similar to what his ''Film/GodzillaFinalWars'' counterpart had done to Kaizer Ghidorah.
* NoSell:
** Godzilla Earth does this to everything humanity has.
** [[spoiler:King Ghidorah returns the favor, being completely unaffected by everything the Monster King throws at him until Mothra interferes.]]
** Much like it canonically did to Godzilla's Atomic Breath, [[spoiler:Mothra's barrier manages to negate and deflect Ghidorah's Gravity Beams until Mothra's spiritual manifestation disperses and empowers Godzilla. Godzilla then proceeds to do this to Ghidorah's Gravity Beams, absorbing them and sending them right back.]]
* NotHyperbole: [[spoiler:"Planet Eating Wings" isn't just a cool name, growing his wings large enough to surround the planet is how Ghidorah prepares to consume it.]]
* OhCrap:
** [[spoiler:Godzilla Earth has a progressively larger series of these as King Ghidorah begins overpowering him. The biggest one coming when he sees Ghidorah's gravity beam about to hit him [[EyeScream directly in the eye]].]]
** Gigan does this a couple times whenever Godzilla is able to overpower him, [[spoiler:especially when he is about to be killed by the latter's Atomic Breath]].
* OneWingedAngel: [[spoiler:After being seemingly killed with electricity, Hedorah's clones emerge and merge with it, resulting in it becoming the much stronger Shin Hedorah.]]
* RageQuit: [[spoiler:When King Ghidorah starts to lose to a Mothra empowered up Godzilla, he warps to space and attempts to [[ColonyDrop drop the moon]] on Godzilla Earth and Earth. Notably, he's so enraged at this point he passes up the chance to escape to make one last attempt on Godzilla. He no longer even cares about consuming Earth, he just wants to make sure Godzilla loses.]]
* RealityWarper: [[spoiler:Otaru Ghidorah uses this most effectively against Godzilla Earth. The most prominent example is when Ghidorah summons another Godzilla Earth (Either a time-displaced version of the kaiju or an illusion) to fire an atomic breath right at Godzilla Earth's back.]]
* {{Sadist}}:
** Godzilla Earth has shades of this, giving {{Slasher Smile}}s before destroying his foes.
** King Ghidorah, as per usual. He even uses [[GigglingVillain his Showa Era cackle]] to help convey it. [[spoiler:He's clearly having fun slowly overpowering and dismantling Godzilla, including at one point appearing to ''laugh in his face'' before giving him a brutal MeteorMove from above the clouds.]]
** Gigan clearly enjoys the destruction he's causing and the moments he has the upperhand against Godzilla.
* SigilSpam: King Ghidorah's symbol appears in a lot of his attacks and powers.
* ShockwaveStomp: Godzilla Earth smashes his supercharged foot to the ground, sending out an electromagnetic pulse that disables all remaining enemy flyers.
* ShoutOut: [[spoiler:Gigan's [[WaveMotionGun final attack]] has him take the same pose as [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing the Wing Zero using its Twin Buster Rifles.]]]]
** [[spoiler:The climactic BeamOWar between Godzilla and Gigan features the grounded Godzilla firing a blue beam toward the airborne Gigan firing the aforementioned purple beam, ending in Godzilla overpowering Gigan. [[Franchise/DragonBall Very similar to a certain clash between Saiyans.]]]]
* SlasherSmile:
** While Godzilla Earth lacks lips, this lack of expressiveness is bypassed by clever camera angles to give him one of these when appropriate.
** The same is done with King Ghidorah as well.
* SmugSuper:
** Godzilla Earth is presented in this fashion, with his body language and expressions giving him an air of hubris. [[spoiler:The second movie sees him let the Earth's military lay into him with everything before retaliating and effortlessly destroying them.]] A few clever camera angles give him a smug GlasgowGrin to rub it in.
** King Ghidorah is this as well, [[spoiler:spending most of his fight with Earth clearly toying with him and doesn't even use his more reality-bending powers until ''after'' he's thoroughly pounded Godzilla with just his beams and physical strength. In the end he reveals he's powerful enough to ''push the moon out of orbit''.]]
* TheStinger: The end of the second short film has the [[spoiler: Planet Eater, Ghidorah appearing to confront Godzilla Earth.]]
* SuicidalCosmicTemperTantrum: [[spoiler: When the newly empowered Godzilla trounces him, Otaru Ghidorah flees to the moon to attempt a ColonyDrop, no longer caring about consuming Earth, just making sure Godzilla loses.]]
* TailSlap:
** Godzilla Earth naturally has his Plasma Cutter attack, which he uses to bisect Mechagodzilla and Garuda.
** Mechagodzilla likewise has its Tail Blow attack, which ''slices Godzilla's chest wide open'' in one slash.
* TransformingMecha: Mechagodzilla can convert itself into a ship in order to confuse Godzilla Earth and evade his attacks.
* WalkingArmory: As to be expected, Mechagodzilla is positively ''covered'' in weapons.
* WreckedWeapon: [[spoiler:Both of Gigan's blades end up being destroyed, one by Godzilla's Atomic Breath and the other by Godzilla pulling it into the path of Gigan's beam. He then reveals emitters underneath them that create his chainsaws to replace them.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:Once Godzilla Earth is empowered by Mothra, Otaru Ghidorah spends its remaining time in a state of panic. Ghidorah tries to defeat Godzilla one last time in what amounts to a RageQuit (Ghidorah choosing to try and kill Godzilla one last time rather than escape), but that only backfires and Ghidorah is destroyed all the while screaming in agony.]]
