''Ulvesommer'' (''Wolf Summer'') is a 2003 Norwegian {{Adventure}} Family Film about Kim, an eager climber who wakes up early every morning to climb. In the summer vacation she's going with the climbing group for a trip while her mother goes to [[UsefulNotes/{{Latvia}} Riga]] with her new boyfriend Knut. But the trip is canceled after too few showed up and Kim decides to climb Østveggen on her own like her father did when he was her age. In the mountains she meets some farmers, one of them, Jon, tells her a scary story about wolves ripping children from their mother's arms. She brushes it of as a rumor and goes to start climbing. After something goes wrong and she's knocked out, a hurt female wolf and her cub starts nursing her to health in a broken cabin. Being thankful Kim decides to help them get to the Swedish border so they can live freely in Sweden.

!! This film contains examples of:
* AdultsAreUseless: Until the [[EleventhHourRanger very end]].
* AllAnimalsAreDogs: The wolves act very much like dogs.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: Kim, the picture of her father is black and white, never zoomed in, and his name is never said so one never knows what his ethnicity is.
* AntiVillain: Ingvald, who's only a part of the hunt because it's his sheep that are killed and Jon convinces him to take revenge.
* BadassAdorable: Kim, she's even called cute by Jon to add to his creepiness.
** The female wolf.
* ChildhoodFriends: Kim and Mads are implied to be this, but the climbing club leaders have never seen him before.
* CorruptTheCutie: The farmer, Ingvald, is constantly manipulated by Jon who tries to convince him that wolves are evil. Ingvald sees the good in them knowing they need to eat despite missing his sheep a lot.
* DisappearedDad: Kim's father died when she was very young due to falling off a mountain.
* DoggedNiceGuy: Mads.
** Ingvald lends his cabin to Kim and Cecilie, only for Cecilie to start dating Jon instead.
* DareToBeBadass: [[spoiler: Cecilie and Mads in the end.]]
* {{Expy}}: Kim and Mads are similar to [[Literature/{{Phenomena}} Alk and Ilke]] in several ways with their MasculineGirlFeminineBoy personalities. Give Kim's ways of easily getting along with the wolves to Mads, remove his allergies, and both will fit rather nicely, expect in that they're not siblings and Mads wants more from Kim.
** Also of [[WesternAnimation/KimPossible Kim and Ron]] which also came out the year before, with [[NamedAfterSomebodyFamous Kim named after Kim.]]
* FamilyUnfriendlyViolence: Hunting wolves from a helicopter on-screen, shooting the female wolf in the shoulder, Kim falling off Østreveggen, [[spoiler: Jon throwing the grenade down into the lair…]], yup, there's a lot.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Ingvald is implied to be one, loving his sheep dearly and giving names to all of them, yet still not hating the wolves for eating them. Kim might be one but we only see her with the wolves, who were highly skeptical to her at first.
* HonorBeforeReason: Jon's reason for hunting wolves.
* InnocentProdigy: Mads is implied to be one.
* JumpedOffTheSlipperySlope: [[spoiler: Jon when he threw a grenade down into the den Kim was hiding in. Played horrifyingly straight for a family movie.]]
* KidHero: Kim is only 12.
* KillTheCutie: 2 of the wolf's puppies are eaten by a bear early on.
* LethalChef: Cecilie made a cream cake with crème fraîche and shrimp (although that might've been a joke from Kim), convinced that crème fraîche is some special cream.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: The way Kim would like her relationship with Mads to be.
* LittleMissBadass: Kim.
* MamaBear: The obvious one protecting her cub later in the movie.
** While more like [[PapaWolf Mama Wolf]] is the main female wolf. [[spoiler: She even protects Kim as if she was her own in the end]].
** [[spoiler: Cecilie in the end.]]
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Kim and Mads.
* MisunderstoodLonerWithAHeartOfGold: Kim's ways of putting climbing [[spoiler: and later the wolves]] first ruins her friendship with Mads [[spoiler: for a while.]]
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: The bear who tries to get into the wolf lair. [[spoiler: Also Jon later in the movie.]]
* NamedAfterSomebodyFamous: Kim is probably named after WesternAnimation/KimPossible due to Kim usually being a boy's name in Norway and Kimberly, if used, being extremely rare.
* OnlySaneMan: Markus, a Swede with a cabin in Norway.
* PoliceAreUseless: Subverted. [[spoiler: Jon is arrested by the Swedish border police in the end for hunting wolf in Sweden, and attempting to kill Kim twice.]]
* ReallyGetsAround: Kim's mother, Cecilie. She has a huge suitcase with photos of all her exes, except Kim's father because she was angry at him for "leaving her with a kid".
* RRatedOpening: Starts with wolves being shot from a helicopter. It tones down somewhat although it still gets a whole lot crap in. It does apparently have a 16+ rating internationally compared to the home rating of 7+.
* RunningGag: Kim forgetting her cellphone.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: [[spoiler: Knut drives off when they for some reason didn't go to Riga after all (implied that they got to the airport too late) and and Cecilie decides to go to Mads' cabin which Kim said she'd stay at with him as his family.]]
* TankTopTomboy: Kim prefers to be wearing those.
* {{Tomboy}}: Kim.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Kim and Cecilie so darn much.
* TomboyishName: Kim is usually a boy's name in Norway, and Kimberly if even used as a name is extremely rare.
* {{Tsundere}}: Kim towards Mads, she's rude, pushes him around, doesn't listen, but does actually care.
* UnluckyChildhoodFriend: Mads has an obvious crush on Kim, even giving her a poetry book about love for her birthday.
** [[spoiler: ChildhoodFriendRomance: They are implied to get together in the end.]]
* VomitIndiscretionShot: Kim throws up 1/4th into the movie due to her injuries and faints, [[spoiler: when she wakes up again she [[{{Squick}} eats it]] due to refusing to eat the dead sheep the female wolf brought in]].
* WackyParentSeriousChild: Cecilie and Kim in spades.
* WhenYouComingHomeDad: Maternal example. Cecilie is always out with her boyfriends so Kim is mostly home by herself.
* WhereTheHellIsSpringfield: The place Kim goes to climb is called Nes, people there talk all kinds of dialects and there are many towns, villages, and municipalities called that in Norway.
* WillTheyOrWontThey: [[spoiler: Cecilie and Markus in the ending]].
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Mads is quite mature, Kim is also very responsible for her age due to her mother running off with her boyfriends all the time.
