This fanfiction focuses on how the five emotions (Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear) of Riley Andersen's mind deals with the fallout after the events of animated film, after realizing that Sadness was important to Riley's mind. However, even as they pick up the pieces, the emotions know that it would be a '''long''' healing process before Riley would even return to her usual optimistic self. But since they were all back together again, the emotions know they would be able to pull through by supporting each other.

But when Sadness is suddenly given a rare opportunity in the form of an acting job at Dream Productions, the other emotions all encourage her to take it. However, with the new job comes new challenges and obstacles in which friendships would be tested. For both Sadness and Riley. And there it becomes realized that the past isn't always easy to let go. Or easily forgiven.

!!This fanfic goes into these tropes:

* ActOfTrueLove: [[spoiler: Bing Bong's sacrifice in the movie was brought up repeatedly in this fanfiction, and explicitly mentioned in Chapter Five by the emotions to Dottie, which needed Sadness and Joy to comfort the mind worker.]]
* ADayInTheLimelight: The majority of the fanfiction focuses on the blue emotion Sadness.
* AlwaysSecondBest: It's clear in Chapter Five that Sadness was [[spoiler: Dottie's favourite emotion]], and Joy became a bit jealous of Sadness's popularity.
** [[spoiler: Disgust and Anger, on the other hand, are also kind of jealous of Fear's position as Dottie's second favourite emotion.]]
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: [[spoiler: Dottie shows shades of this when she's checking out Sadness's dolls in Chapter Five.]]
* BaitAndSwitch: Joy thought that the [[spoiler: job offer at Dream Production]] was being given to her, instead it's actually being given to [[spoiler: Sadness.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: [[spoiler: Dottie]] is an adorable and cheerful little girl, who adores [[spoiler:Sadness for being TheEmpath]] but she utterly dislikes Anger, who she considers a bully and is able to pierce [[spoiler:Joy]] [[BreakThemByTalking with words]].
* CallBack: Quite a few examples.
** The Triple-Dent Gum commercial returns once more in Chapter Five, unnerving Anger like what happened in the Inside Out movie.
* BiggerOnTheInside: Sadness's personal bedroom was ''much bigger'' (emphasis on "much") than any of the other emotions, even though it looked almost the same size as the rest of them from the outside.
* BornAsAnAdult: The emotions are all born as adults, so they didn't know what it was like to grow up or have parents.
** Joy had a painting in her room in which she actually imagined how her ''mother'' would actually looked like. However, not all the emotions are receptive to the idea of having parents...
* CheerfulChild: [[spoiler: Dottie the mind worker most definitely counts.]]
* ContinuityNod: The window from where Joy and Sadness returned to Headquarters still has a hole in it.
* ControlFreak: How Disgust, Anger and Fear describe how Joy was in the past. She feels quite ashamed and tries to make it up for all, especially for Sadness.
* EpicFail: In Chapter Two, Joy trying to find the main door of Headquarters must be seen to be believed.
* HiddenDepths: Sadness was revealed to have talents in playing [[spoiler: the piano and the harp, although she mentioned she messed up some of the notes at times. She also reads, draws, paints, or cuddle with her doll collection.]]
* IntelligibleUnintelligible: Rainbow Unicorn apparently talks ''like a horse'', and often have to gesture with her hooves to convey what she needs others to understand.
* InternalReveal: A number in this Fanfiction.
** In Chapter Five, we learn quite a number of things about the individual emotions from the [[spoiler: Dottie's visit]] to each emotion's room.
* LivingInAFurnitureStore: Sadness's own room, for the lack of better description. Her own room boasts expensive furniture ranging from a queen-sized four poster bed with royal blue curtains, a reading area with fancy recliner chairs, couches and an antique table, a bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub, and even a ''fully-stocked library.''
* MutualEnvy: Disgust and Anger (and Joy, but she wouldn't admit it) are envious of Fear being [[spoiler: Dottie's second most liked emotion.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler: Joy is constantly reminded (and will always agree) that her fixation on keeping Riley a happy girl made her more harm than good, that the whole Core memories trouble was caused by her being unable to accept sadness in the girl's life and her past mistreat on Sadness.]]
* RealityIsOutToLunch: Joy's room defies all sense and reason unlike the other emotions [[spoiler: as she has a bathtub for a bed]], and she also has a happy place which looked almost like a replica of Bella's House from ''Beauty and the Beast'' beyond her room's window.
* SarcasmMode: Disgust and Anger are fond of this Trope.
--> '''Anger:''' Yeah, sure...that kick totally ''says'' I love you, let's be friends...
* SceneryPorn: The description of Sadness's personal bedroom most definitely counts. Refer to LivingInAFurnitureStore above for more details.
* ShipTease: Fear and Sadness had a HeldGaze moment in chapter one.
* {{Squee}}: Joy squealed so hard when she thought she was going to be Flora's new starlet that the narrative said it almost broke the windows.
** In Chapter Five, [[spoiler: Dottie squealed upon visiting Sadness's bedroom and enjoying the latter's collection of cartoon dolls, as well as when she was given the chance to stay with Sadness out of all the emotions.]]
* ShoutOut: Again, quite a few examples.
** Chapter Five has a number of them:
*** Bella's house from ''WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast'' makes an appearance in Joy's room.
*** Sadness's bedroom was based off Queen Elsa's room from ''{{WesternAnimation/Frozen|2013}}''.
*** Sadness's personal collection of dolls include [[WesternAnimation/{{Minions}} Gru's Minions]], Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from ''{{WesternAnimation/Zootopia}}'', Olaf the Snowman from ''{{WesternAnimation/Frozen|2013}}'', and even Mike Wazowski from ''WesternAnimation/MonstersInc''.
*** Characters from [[WesternAnimation/PixarShorts Pixar's theatrical short ''Lava'']] were also among the dolls, in the form of a woman merged with a mountain, and she sang lyrics from the short film.
*** Sadness's first doll resembled one of her concept designs from ''The Art of Inside Out.''
* ThePowerOfHate: The author has hinted on this when [[spoiler: Dottie discovers what Joy and Fear had done during the events of the Inside Out film.]]
* TheReveal: The visits to every individual emotion's room gave us something new about each of them.
** Joy personal room's overall design resembled more like a bathroom than a bedroom.
** Disgust has another '''separate''' room completely devoted to her fashion sense, like a fancy warehouse.
** Anger has a gym of sorts within his room, and he's an avid reader of ''The Mind Reader'' Newspaper.
** Fear has a collection of books on every kind of danger imaginable, and he even has a sprinkler system in case of fire and covered all sharp points in his room with plastic.
** Sadness was shown to enjoy books as she has ''an entire library'' in her room, in addition to a couple of different musical instruments for her to indulge her talents at times.
* WideEyedIdealist: Again, [[spoiler: Dottie is the reigning champion of this Trope, with Joy being a close second.]]
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: [[spoiler: Dottie, as seen from Chapters Three and Four, is clearly smarter than she looks, and can understand the feelings of others besides showing empathy for them.]]
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: [[spoiler: Dottie mentioned this to Sadness, knowing that she's very important to Riley's well-being.]]
* YouAreNotAlone: What Flora, Dream Production's director tries to do in the new dreams. [[spoiler: She casted Dottie as Young Riley and Sadness as Mrs. Andersen to remind Riley via dreams that her family will always be there for her.]]
* YouAreWhatYouHate: In Chapter Four, we '''finally''' see Disgust's reaction to the fact that she does ''indeed look like broccoli.''
** And we also got a slightly more animated reaction from Disgust again in Chapter Five when the aforementioned topic was brought up again, this time by [[spoiler: Dottie.]]
