Created by [[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/7002451/TotalDramaFan14 TotalDramaFan14]], the ''Randomverse'' series restarts the ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'' series from season one, ''Total Drama Island'', and randomizes the competitors (as well as 16 original characters created by the author from another fanfic of theirs, ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12393418/1/Total-Drama-Danger-Island Total Drama Danger Island]]'') around to different introductory seasons to make a whole new story. With new casts come new plots to follow, new friendships to emerge, and new alliances.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12401846/1/Random-Drama-Island Random Drama Island]]'' introduces twenty-two teenagers to the first season of a hot new reality show. Included among the cast are- Alejandro (The Arch Villain), Amy (The Mean Twin), DJ (The Brickhouse With a Heart), Duncan (The Delinquent), Gwen (The Loner), Harold (The Dweeb), Heather (The Queen Bee), Kitsune/Faith (The Goofball), Leshawna (The Sista With a 'Tude), Malcolm (The Pain Magnet), Mike (The Comedian), Noah (The Bookworm), Sammy/Samey (The Nice Twin), Scarlett (The Quiet Braniac), Shawn (The Zombie Conspiracy Nut), Sky (The Athlete), Staci (The Compulsive Liar), Sugar (The Pageant Queen), Trent (The Cool Guy), Tyler (The Jock), Victor (The Gentleman), and Zoey (The Indie Chick). With Alejandro and Kitsune trying to eliminate each other, Heather making the first alliance in the series, Mike and Zoey falling in love, and much more, it turns into a crazy summer towards the finale where only one will win the hundred grand.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12656417/1/Random-Drama-Action Random Drama Action]]'' takes the fifteen contestants that tied in the Race to the Case to the abandoned film lot, where they have a chance at winning one million dollars. Just when the contestants thought that the first season was crazy, the second season turns out to be even crazier. One contestant gets seriously injured, another lies and disses her team, and someone is eventually forced to act against their basic personality. Also included is the Aftermath show, hosted by two contestants that didn't make the cut for the season, and even there, drama is present. Amy, DJ, Duncan, Harold, Heather, Kitsune, Leshawna, Mike, Noah, Sammy, Shawn, Sky, Sugar, Victor and Zoey all participate in this season, with Gwen and Trent hosting the Aftermath.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12876019/1/Random-Drama-World-Tour Random Drama World Tour]]'' has the fifteen contestants that were randomly selected by Chris competing for one million dollars while competing in challenges that take place all across the globe. Alejandro, Duncan, Harold, Heather, Kitsune, Leshawna, Malcolm, Mike, Noah, Scarlett, Sky, Staci, Tyler, Victor, and Zoey all return this season, and joining them are the two newbies, Matthew (The Hipster) and Sierra (The Obsessive Uber-Fan). The season also contains shuffled mixes of songs featured in the canon season, and original songs written by the author. Three teams are made, one contestant quits after being pushed too far, and a new threat emerges. The Aftermath also reappears, and Blaineley is around to cause trouble.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12970303/1/Random-Drama-Revenge-of-the-Island Random Drama Revenge of the Island]]'' returns to the island, which has become even more rundown before and has been used as a toxic waste dump. The season also introduces thirteen new campers- Angel (The Innocent Idealist), Beardo (The Human Soundboard), Bridgette (The Surfer Girl), Cody (The Geek), Ella (The Fairytale Princess), Eva (The Hothead), Ezekiel (The Homeschooled Guy), Gary (The Rap Star Wannabe) Jo (The Take No Prisoners Jock-ette), Lightning/Rudy (The Athletic Overachiever), Lily (The Cynic), Natasha (The Mastermind), and Sam (The Nice Guy Gamer). The campers compete in dangerous challenges while avoiding the island's mutated wildlife. One camper gets involved in a conflict with the mutant shark named Fang, two campers express interest in each other, and three campers look to take the competition by less than moral means. Contestants from the first three seasons also appear in cameos.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13030610/1/Random-Drama-All-Stars Random Drama All-Stars]]'' takes place a year after the events of ''Revenge of the Island'' when Chris is released from prison on parole to host the fifth season. ''All-Stars'' features fourteen of the best contestants from the past four seasons - Alejandro, Angel, Bridgette, Cody, Heather, Jo, Kitsune, Lightning, Lily, Matthew, Mike, Natasha, Scarlett, and Victor. The contestants compete in challenges either reminiscent or a mix of past challenges to not only win immunity, but to also win a night of relaxation in the new spa hotel while the losing team sleeps in one of the old cabins. There's a catch to winning though, one member of the winning team must serve exile on Boney Island, where an immunity idol is hidden. Older competitors and newer competitors collide, new friendships and rivalries form, and there are unexpected twists never seen before.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13109621/1/Random-Drama-Pahkitew-Island Random Drama Pahkitew Island]]'' goes to the uncharted and wild Pahkitew Island, with fourteen new competitors: Anne Maria (The Jersey Girl), B (The Strong Silent Genius), Brick (The Cadet), Britney (The Globetrotter), Cameron (The Wide-Eyed Bubble Boy), Courtney (The Control Freak), Dave (The Germaphobe), Dawn (The Moonchild), Geoff (The Party Dude), Izzy (The Wildcard), Jaxon (The Artist), Justin (The Eye Candy), Katie (The Hot-Blooded), and Sadie (The Codependent). The challenges are just as dangerous, but now, they are ''completely'' on their own, having to make their own shelter and find their own food.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13246796/1/Random-Drama-Danger-Island Random Drama Danger Island]]'' goes back to the newly resurfaced Wawanakwa Island, which is in state of disrepair due to the cheapness of the surfacing and the camp being underwater for a year. Sixteen new campers are introduced - Beth (The Dork), Carly (The Shrinking Violet), Contessa (The Hopeless Romantic), Dakota (The Fame Monger), Jasmine (The Australian Outback Girl), Leonard (The [=LARPer=]), Lindsay (The Ditzy Genius), Max (The Super Villain), Mitch (The Cowboy), Olivia (The Ex-Child Star), Owen (The Optimist), Rebecca (The Rebel), Rodney (The Country Boy), Scott (The Schemer), Terrance (The Jerk), and Topher (The Chris Wannabe). Not only are the challenges dangerous, but so are the accommodations. One camper deviously schemes to the finale, two more express an interest, and secrets from all over risk being revealed.

''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13586675/1/Random-Drama-All-Stars-2 Random Drama All Stars 2]]'' brings back the Jumbo Jet in another competition around the world, this time featuring the best sixteen competitors of the previous two seasons fighting for one million dollars once again in two teams of heroes and villains. 18
''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13822396/1/Random-Drama-Redemption Random Drama Redemption]]'' takes the show back to Pahkitew Island which now includes proper facilities. In a contrast to the ''All-Stars'' seasons, Chris decides to bring back twenty-four of the worst-performing contestants (anyone who never won, who only competed in one season, who never reached the merge, or any combination of the three) from all four casts for another shot at the million. Coming back this time are Amy, Anne Maria, Britney, Cameron, Carly, Dakota, Dave, Ella, Eva, Ezekiel, Gary, Gwen, Harold, Jaxon, Leonard, Lindsay, Rodney, Sadie, Sam, Scott, Shawn, Sierra, Sky and Trent.

----
!!The Randomverse contains examples of:
[[folder:A-M]]
* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler:Throughout season seven, Olivia has flashbacks revealing how her parents forced her to succeed or they'd punish her. The next season reveals they even forced her to take back her coming out and beat her when she came home without the prize money.]]
* AdaptationalBackstoryChange: Geoff's online bio for ''Island'' states he has five brothers. Here, he only has one [[spoiler:and an older sister on top of that]].
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: Many of the ''Revenge of the Island'' and ''Pahkitew Island'' characters, as well as Alejandro and the [=OCs=] from ''Danger Island'', now appear earlier than they did in canon due to the cast shuffling: Alejandro, Amy, Kitsune, Malcolm, Mike, Sammy, Scarlett, Shawn, Sky, Staci, Sugar, Victor, and Zoey now debut in ''Island'', Matthew debuts in ''World Tour'', Angel, Beardo, Ella, Gary, Lily, and Natasha debut in ''ROTI'', and Britney and Jaxon debut in ''PI''.
* AdaptationalHeroism:
** Lightning, while still [[ItsAllAboutMe egotistical]], is shown to be [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold much more of a team player]], and even develops an OddFriendship with Bridgette. This becomes especially apparent when [[spoiler:he makes it to the finals in ''ROTI'': while in canon he played the villainous brawn to the heroic Cameron's brains, here he plays the heroic brawn to Natasha's villainous brains.]]
** Scarlett in ''World Tour'' does go crazy as in canon, but here it is clearly attributed to stress and the machinations of Mal, and afterwards [[TheAtoner she does whatever she can to make up for it.]] She's even on the Heroic Hamsters come ''All-Stars''.
* AdaptationalLateAppearance: Most of the original ''Island'' cast and some of the ''Revenge of the Island'' and ''Pahkitew Island'' characters now make their debuts in a later season than in canon: Bridgette, Cody, Eva, and Ezekiel now debut in ''ROTI'', Anne Maria, B, Brick, Cameron, Courtney, Dawn, Geoff, Izzy, Justin, Katie and Sadie now debut in ''Pahkitew Island'', and Beth, Dakota, Jasmine, Leonard, Lindsay, Max, Owen, Rodney, Scott, and Topher now debut in ''Danger Island''.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy:
** The show had Dave be annoyed by all his teammates and [[SanitySlippage slowly go insane]] due to Sky rejecting his feelings. Here because he falls for someone just as into him and befriends Geoff, who knows how to "bring out the party in people", he becomes much more optimistic.
** Duncan is also noticeably nicer than he is in canon, mostly due to the fact he and Courtney never so much as meet and he falls for Kitsune instead of her or Gwen, preventing the LoveTriangle from ever happening.
* AdaptedOut:
** In the Animal Buddy challenge during ''Action'', the shark and chameleon are replaced by a fox and a parrot.
** Because ''Danger Island'' takes place near the end of ''The Ridonculous Race'' and Leonard competes in the former, Tammy doesn't appear in the fic.
* AdaptationalSexuality:
** Bridgette, who is canonically straight, is a lesbian in this.
** [[spoiler:Caitlin qualifies; in ''6teen'' she was also straight but here, she's bisexual (though she has yet to realize it.)]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: [[spoiler: Katie]] slowly becomes much more antagonistic as the sixth season progresses, to the point where she becomes the main antagonist.
* AllForNothing: Regardless of who [[spoiler:wins ''Danger Island'', the winner only receives a dollar because Chris used the prize money to resurface Camp Wawanakwa.]]
* AlphaBitch:
** Heather, Amy and Olivia per their respective canons.
** Matthew is a male version. He treats everyone, especially his own team, with contempt due to his "superior" intelligence.
* AlternateUniverse: The series is what the canon series could've been like if everyone's debut season was switched around as well as adding a few extra characters.
* ArchEnemy: Kitsune and Alejandro during the first two seasons, as well as Amy and Sammy. They were followed by Kitsune and Heather, Tyler and Matthew, Cody and Jo, Lightning and Natasha, Courtney and Geoff, Terrance and Rebecca, ect.
* AndIMustScream: Implied that [[spoiler: Matthew]] was conscious while imprisoned in the robot.
* AscendedExtra:
** Kitsune, Victor and Malcolm were among the first four eliminations in the original "canonverse". Here, they receive way more focus and last much longer in the competition. Kitsune and Victor even compete in ''4'' seasons while Malcolm joins Noah in ''Ridonculous Race''.
** Olivia, Mitch, Terrance and Rebecca compared to the original ''Danger Island'':
*** In the original, Olivia's attitude resulted in her being eliminated first. Here, she becomes [[spoiler: the season's BigBad and lasts all the way to 3rd.]]
*** Terrance was the last pre-merge boot; here he ends up being [[spoiler: the runner-up.]]
*** Mitch was originally the first post-merge boot but [[spoiler: ranks 4th]] here.
*** Rebecca lasted up to 7th but here, she became the [[spoiler: season's winner]].
* AscendedFan: Sierra, a major fan of the show, joins the cast in ''World Tour''.
* TheAtoner: Horrified by her actions in [[spoiler: "Scarlett Fever"]], [[spoiler: Scarlett]] tries to redeem herself through various means.
* BackForTheDead: Noah returns halfway through ''World Tour'', only to be the next person voted off of Team Omega.
* BadassBiker: Trent in ''Island'', building a perfectly working motorcycle in the time it took the others to build barely functioning regular bikes.
* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler:Natasha's ending in ''Revenge of the Island'', Heather's ending in ''All-Stars'', and either ending of ''Danger Island'' can qualify as such.]]
* BaitAndSwitch: During the finale of ''All Stars 2'', when [[spoiler:Geoff]] gets his video from home, it starts as though he and his sister hate each other, before it's quickly revealed to be a prank that the two planned out.
* BatmanGambit: The basis of Natasha's strategies.
* BecomingTheMask: Trent starts to act genuinely mean while hosting the Aftermath [[ExecutiveMeddling per the producers' orders]] until Gwen snaps some sense back into him. [[spoiler:It's later revealed that this is why Chris acts the way he does.]]
* BelligerentSexualTension: Between Alejandro and Heather, [[LoveTriangle and also Alejandro and Kitsune at one point]].
* BerserkButton:
** Don't ''ever'' compare Kitsune to her birth mother.
** Trent ''really'' doesn't like it when people mess with Gwen.
** Cody punched Matthew in the face for insulting Scarlett.
* BestServedCold:
** After Blaineley sends Gwen to Siberia, Trent arranges for her to join the competition. [[spoiler: The best part? She was never eligible to win.]]
** After learning he was the culprit behind Scarlett's elimination, Cody sets Matthew up to be beaten by Fang.
** As payback [[spoiler: for manipulating her feelings]], Contessa has Chef [[spoiler: deliver tampered muffins to Rebecca so she'd get sick during the Quintathalon.]]
* BetterAsFriends: Alejandro and Kitsune, who dated between ''Action'' and ''World Tour''.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Kitsune is a goofy young woman who likes to crack jokes more than compete, but when angered she ''single-handedly'' pushed Chef the length of a football field, with one shove.
* BigBad: Each season has a main antagonist.
** [[spoiler: Alejandro]] for ''Island''.
** [[spoiler: Heather]] for ''Action''.
** [[spoiler: Mal]] for ''World Tour''.
** [[spoiler: Natasha]] for ''Revenge of the Island''.
** [[spoiler: Matthew]] for ''All-Stars''
** [[spoiler: Justin, then Courtney, and finally Katie]] in ''Pahkitew Island''.
** [[spoiler: Olivia]] in ''Danger Island''.
** [[spoiler: Topher]] in ''All-Stars 2''.
** [[spoiler:Scott]] in ''Redemption''.
* BirthdayEpisode: The penultimate episode of ''All-Stars 2'', "The Lost Island of Wawanakwa", takes place on Olivia's eighteenth birthday.
* BornUnlucky: Malcolm. Labeled as "The Pain Magnet" if something painful is going to happen when he's around, it will more than likely happen to him.
--> '''Malcolm''': "I'm kinda accident prone, and that's about a thousand foot of shark-infested accident."
* BrainsEvilBrawnGood: The rivalry between Natasha and Lightning.
* BreakTheCutie:
** Scarlett is forced to deal with her twin's elimination, accidentally kissing her ''taken'' best friend, lied on by Mal, ostracized by her team, and emotionally abused by Mal. She doesn't take it well.
** [[spoiler:Contessa later follows her trail. She's nearly blackmailed when someone discovers her orientation, her best friend (who was supposed to keep it secret) let it slip and quits the game out of guilt, and she gets eliminated by her girlfriend who was only using her as a means to an end. The experience damages her reputation and her belief in finding love.]]
* BrickJoke: In "Hey, Seoul Sister", Izzy states that she left a butt divot on one of the First Class recliners. Courtney brings it up in the next episode because it's the chair she always uses and she spent a long time fluffing it out.
* BridalCarry: Bridgette carries a barely conscious Angel this way as they escape the mines.
* BrutalHonesty: The reason Terrance is considered a jerk is because he refuses to lie.
* TheCameo:
** Similar to Katie returning in canon, Mike returns in "Are We There Yeti?" to drive the Boat of Losers after Zoey gets eliminated.
** Harold returns in "Get A Clue", where Chris brings him back as a special effects artist for the challenge.
** The whole first generation (except Blaineley) appears in "Bigger! Badder! Brutal-er!" Malcolm also gets an extended one by himself where he asks Chris about why they've been replaced.
** Harold in "Truth or Mutant Shark", where he demonstrates the Mad Skills Obstacle Course.
** Kitsune in "Finders Creepers", when she is hired by Chris to dress up as a mutant spider to catch the campers.
** Scarlett and Sierra in "Backstabbers Ahoy!", they demonstrate the challenge by blowing up one of the water mines.
** Zoey in "Runaway Model", where she is a judge for the fashion challenge, and is abducted by Sasquatchinakwa.
** Staci and the Clone in "A Mine is a Terrible Thing to Waste", where they are revealed to have been bunking in the mine.
** Noah and Gwen in "The Treasure Island of Dr. [=McLean=]", they are buried in treasure chests for the teams to dig up.
** Duncan in "Grand Chef Auto", where he blows up Mount Chrismore.
** Heather in "Up, Up, and Away in my Pitiful Balloon", where she steals the million dollars and Chris's zeppelin. The final five are then tasked with stopping her.
** DJ in "Eat, Puke, and Be Wary", where he is brought against his will to judge the final four's cooking dishes.
** There are multiple cameo appearances at the end of most of the ''All-Stars'' chapters, where two characters would go and retrieve the flushed contestant of the day from wherever in the world they ended up. These include:
*** Malcolm and Sky for Victor.
*** Amy and Eva for Jo.
*** Sam and Gary for Natasha.
*** Sammy and Zoey for Mike.
*** Duncan and Noah for Kitsune.
*** Tyler and Ezekiel for Lightning.
*** Ella and Sugar for Angel.
*** Harold and Sierra for Scarlett.
*** Gwen and Leshawna for Bridgette.
*** Beardo and Staci for Alejandro.
*** DJ and Trent for Cody and Matthew.
** Before/after the aforementioned cameos, DJ, Harold, Malcolm and Trent appear as the return opponents in "Suckers Punched": they represented Matthew's "fear" of boy bands but faced Lightning instead.
** [[spoiler: Blaineley]] returns in [[spoiler: "Alien vs. Competitor" alongside Clone]], in order to take revenge on Chris for [[spoiler: her humiliation back in ''World Tour'']].
** Shawn returns in "The Final Wreck-ening", filling the balloons and staying to watch the final challenge with the other All-Stars.
** [[spoiler: Matthew]] comes back in "Blast From The Past" (the Randomverse counterpart of "Scarlett Fever") to [[spoiler: extort Chris for season six's prize money under the threat of killing either him and/or the final six.]]
** Clone makes several appearances throughout ''Danger Island'' as part of the crew or for challenges.
** DJ reappears in "By Hook or By Cook", once again serving as a judge for a cooking challenge.
** [[spoiler:Matthew]] once again appears in the final episode of ''All-Stars 2'' for one last attempt at revenge on Chris.
** ''Redemption'' features the former All-Stars checking up on the eliminated contestants upon landing at the Playa de Losers. So far, the order goes Lightning, Justin, Cody, Kitsune, Izzy Courtney, Mitch, Mike, Natasha, and Angel & Lily.
* TheChessmaster: Natasha. Even when his plan fails, he's able to quickly turn the new situation to his advantage.
* ConsolationPrize: Depending on the ending, the runner-up of ''Action'' receives a settlement for $25,000 ([[spoiler:Kitsune receives it as an apology for her broken foot, DJ is offered it by Victor as an apology for being ordered to sabotage him]].)
* ConversationalTroping: Several characters namedrop tropes throughout the series.
* {{Crossover}}: Characters from TD's sister shows, ''WesternAnimation/{{Sixteen}}'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Stoked}}'', are among the competitors in ''Ridonculous Race''.
* DaddysGirl: Scarlett is implied to have been very close to her father when he was alive.
* DamselInDistress: Angel constantly finds herself in dangerous situations and has to be saved by Lily or Bridgette.
* DeadpanSnarker: Noah in season one. Kitsune takes over in ''Action'' and ''World Tour'', and Lily fills the role in ''Revenge of the Island'' with both girls splitting it in ''All-Stars''. Rebecca serves as such in ''Danger Island''.
* DemotedToExtra:
** [[spoiler: Despite winning season one]], Noah has never been a competitor for more than a few chapters at a time starting in season two.
** After reaching the Final Four in ''Island'', [[spoiler: Zoey]] was the first boot alongside [[spoiler:Mike]] the following season.
** Despite ranking 3rd in ''Island'', [[spoiler:Alejandro]] fails to make the cut for ''Action'' and sits out the first half of the competition before he returns to compete.
** Due to Sammy's CharacterDevelopment, Amy was an early knockout in ''Action'' didn't return to compete until ''Redemption''. ''[[PunctuatedForEmphasis Seven. Seasons. Later.]]''
*** Ironically enough, Sammy has yet to return after being the [[spoiler:runner-up]] in season one and eighth in season two.
** DJ has yet to compete after making it far in season one and [[spoiler: winning season two]].
** Natasha and Jo, two high ranking players in ''Revenge of the Island'' are both eliminated [[spoiler: before the fourth episode]] in ''All-Stars''.
** B and Dawn managed to go far in ''Pahkitew Island'' [[spoiler: (with Dawn even winning the season).]] However, both are [[spoiler: the first two heroes eliminated]] in ''All-Stars 2''.
** [[spoiler:Rebecca and Terrance]] were the finalists in ''Danger Island''; in ''All-Stars 2'', they ended up being [[spoiler: the first two villains knocked out.]]
* DidIJustSayThatOutLoud: Cody mistakenly tells Scarlett he loves her when trying to say it in his head. [[spoiler:After getting eliminated, Scarlett reveals she feels the same.]]
* DidntSeeThatComing: Everyone reacts like this upon hearing Amy has a crush on [[spoiler:Noah]].
* DitzyGenius: This is literally Lindsay's label.
* DomesticAbuser: [[spoiler:Keith, Sky's boyfriend back home, is revealed to be a complete {{Jerkass}} who tells her that she should just give up on her Olympic dreams. It's implied that the reason Sky fell for Victor was because of how polite and nice he is to her.]]
* DuctTapeForEverything: In "Super Happy Crazy Fun Time Japan", Tyler uses duct tape to plug up a hole in economy class.
-->'''Tyler''': ''(juggling a roll)'' "Man, is there anything this stuff can't do?"
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Malcolm's story [[spoiler: after his return]] in ''Island'', as the rest of the cast see him as a hanger-on in an alliance ''he'' created.
* EarnYourHappyEnding:
** After being sent through hell and back because of Mal, [[spoiler:Scarlett]] wins ''World Tour''.
** [[spoiler:Contessa]] was humiliated by [[spoiler:Rebecca]] who manipulated her feelings in ''Danger Island'' and constantly used for drama by Topher in said season and ''All-Stars 2''. She manages to stick it to both of them by finding a new love and winning the latter.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: In ''Redemption'', it's clear that all the Ferrets of Failure that Dakota likes Sam and wish she'd tell him already. When Dakota announces they're together right after Sam is eliminated, everyone congratulates them while Dave says "it's about time".
* ExactEavesdropping: After Harold is eliminated in ''Island'', Kitsune overhears Alejandro complaining about it and learns of his hand in Duncan's elimination in the process. This moment is what cements her rivalry with him and inspires her to take the game more seriously.
* ExactWords: This trope has defeated two villains.
** When Alejandro gets the head shave dare in ''Island'', he ends up shaving his own head and gets eliminated because the dare was for ''Chef'' to do it.
** In order to get a spot in the finale of ''World Tour'', you had to be one of the first two to set foot on Hawaii. So in spite of Matthew arriving first, Scarlett and Mal become the finalists since they hit the beach first.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: Several.
** In "I Triple Dog Dare You", Sammy gets her hair dyed black with a red streak as part of Gwen's dare. The next episode shows she couldn't wash it out but likes it enough to keep it that way: as a bonus, it allows everyone to tell the twins apart.
** After [[spoiler: going berserk in "Scarlett Fever"]], [[spoiler:Scarlett's]] hair is styled into a braided ponytail resembling Sierra's.
** As in canon, Lightning's hair turns white in the ''ROTI'' finale.
** After they stop dying their hair blonde, [[spoiler:Blaineley]] and [[spoiler:Olivia]] both sport their natural brunette color.
* FanArt: One of the reviewers, CMR Rosa a whole ''gallery folder'' for character pictures from this story [[https://www.deviantart.com/crsto20/gallery/84806931/fanfiction-random-drama here]].
* FootPopping: Lily performs this during her first kiss with Lightning in "The Yolk's on You!". Jasmine also invokes this: in her case, she has to raise her feet up to kiss Mitch, who's taller than her.
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** The very first Aftermath has two examples: one of the fans who sent an email was named Young Easy (which is Gary's rapping moniker). The second references [[spoiler:''Ridonculous Race'', where Noah states his type of girl would be a lawyer, who he'd travel the world with and maybe embarrass himself.]]
** In "Dial M for Merger", Duncan tells Chris he's gonna push someone too far one day. [[spoiler:By the end of season six, Blaineley and Matthew have made attempts on Chris's life.]]
* GambitPileUp: Happens in ''All-Stars'' Heather finds the immunity idol, then Alejandro steals it. Then Alejandro reveals to Heather that he stole it while Angel was eavesdropping. Then Angel steals it, then Matthew steals it from her. Then Matthew gives it to Alejandro and sets it up to where he has to play it. Turns out, Heather and Alejandro were using that to boot [[spoiler: Bridgette]] without gaining any enemies.
* TheGoodGuysAlwaysWin: [[WordOfGod The author]] has gone on record in saying that they enjoy letting the good guys win over the villains, which is why in the three seasons where the finale was hero vs villain, the hero (or more heroic character) was the official winner and why in the one season where the finale was villain vs villain, it was a MeaninglessVillainVictory.
* HateSink: WordOfGod says this is Matthew's role. [[spoiler: Rebecca]] sinks lower than him after ''Danger Island'' ends.
** Dakota turns out to have become one in-universe for [[spoiler:helping Olivia cheat]] in Season 7 and spends her time in Season 9 trying to rid herself of it.
* HeroicSacrifice:
** Angel attempts this to prevent Lightning or Lily from being sent home, but is switched to the Villainous Vultures instead.
** [[spoiler:Dawn]] convinces the Heroic Horses to vote her off in "Maya Way or the Highway" since [[spoiler:she already won and only returned due to her contract.]] Despite their reluctance, she's eliminated unanimously.
* HeroVsVillainDuet: One of the original songs for ''World Tour'' is "Clash Of The Rivals", a duet between [[BigBad Mal]] and [[BadassBookworm Scarlett]]. For his part, Mal taunts Scarlett by boasting about all the players he's managed to eliminate and how she should just give up and [[WeCanRuleTogether join him]]. Scarlett fights back by claiming that all the people Mal's gotten rid of are counting on her to defeat him and that she's going to complete her RedemptionQuest by stopping him for good.
* HiddenDepths: Several characters (most notably the {{OCs}}) have such traits. For example:
** Kitsune's real name is Faith Gamble, and she's the daughter of one of Canada's most infamous serial killers.
** [[spoiler:As Chef reveals in season six, Chris used to be a NiceGuy until he took a job that required him to be a jerk. While he'd be himself off the clock, he eventually [[BecomingTheMask turned into the man he is now]].]]
** Carly's pantaphobia is the result of her family's occupations/hobbies, so she grew up seeing every horrible way things could go wrong.
* HistoryRepeats: In "The Big Sleep", Gwen loses the Awake-a-thon challenge to Shawn since he's too paranoid to fall asleep. 8 seasons later, it happens again in "Sleepless in Pahkitew". Chris even lampshades it in the following episode's recap.
* HonorBeforeReason: Despite his hatred towards Alejandro, Harold agrees to vote off Malcolm in ''World Tour'' due to the favor he owed him for getting Duncan eliminated 2 seasons ago.
* ImaginaryLoveTriangle:
** In ''World Tour'', after Scarlett befriends Victor, Sky mistakes it for Scarlett having an attraction towards Victor and begins to act rudely towards her, even when Scarlett outright tells her that she has no idea what she's talking about.
** In ''All-Stars 2'', [[spoiler:Olivia sees Contessa leaning on Dawn while sleeping and assumes Contessa likes the aura reader. Following this, she pulls a Rebecca and begins ignoring Contessa for the sake of her happiness until Contessa makes it clear she likes Olivia back.]]
* InSeriesNickname: Both Noah and Duncan exclusively refer to Kitsune as "Foxtrot" and "Foxy" respectively.
* InSpiteOfANail: The vastly different casts still don't change some things.
** Several characters still compete in the same seasons and teams as in the canon show. These include:
*** ''Island'': DJ, Duncan, Gwen, Harold, Heather, Leshawna, Noah, Trent and Tyler all still debut in this season.
*** ''Action'': DJ, Duncan, Harold, Heather and Leshawna all still compete.
*** ''World Tour'': Alejandro, Duncan, Harold, Heather, Leshawna, Noah and Tyler all still compete, and Sierra still debuts.
*** ''Revenge of the Island'': Jo, Lightning and Sam all still debut in this season.
*** ''All Stars'': Alejandro, Heather, Jo, Lightning, and Mike all still compete and the former three still end up on the Villainous Vultures.
*** ''Pahkitew Island'': Dave still debuts.
*** ''Danger Island'': Carly, Contessa, Mitch, Olivia, Rebecca and Terrance still debut in this season, and Contessa still hooks up with a girl.
*** ''All-Stars 2'': Jasmine, Mitch, Terrance and Topher still compete and are placed on the same teams.
** Canon couples Trent/Gwen, Mike/Zoey, Alejandro/Heather and Owen/Izzy all still get together.
** Heather, Mike, Lightning, and Geoff all still become finalists, with Lightning's finale appearance still being in his canon season.
** The main villain of ''Island'' is defeated via the head shave dare and ExactWords.
** Heather, Alejandro, Mal, Justin, Courtney and Scott are all still {{Big Bad}}s at one point.
** Scarlett still goes insane and tries to kill the others [[spoiler:only here, it was due to a severe mental breakdown.]]
** Someone still quits ''World Tour'' in the first episode over getting fed up with the singing rule.
** The new male character in ''World Tour'' ends up in the robot suit.
** The finale of ''Revenge of The Island'' still has a Brains vs Brawn theme.
** In ''All-Stars'', two characters end up in an AccidentalKiss via a broken step on the loser cabin.
** Izzy is still chased off by the RCMP at one point.
** In ''Danger Island'', Contessa still gets blackmailed by someone who threatens to force her out of the closet. [[spoiler:Unlike Natasha, Scott fails to force her into helping him get further into the game using this knowledge.]]
* InsufferableGenius: Played with with Matthew. He ''thinks'' he's a genius, but everyone else finds him insufferable.
* InterspeciesRomance: Staci, a human, and Clone, [[spoiler: an alien clone of Victor.]]
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: [[spoiler:Olivia initially avoided Contessa under the belief that the latter has feelings for Dawn, despite her own attraction to the Hopeless Romantic.]]
* JerkJock: Terrance. He's described as a basketball player, and his label is actually "The Jerk".
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall:
** During the elimination ceremony in "Welcome to Wreck-javik", Chris notes how it felt life half a year had gone by since the previous episode. This makes light of the six-month hiatus after "The Count of Monte Carlo" came out.
** During episode 3 of ''Redemption'' Ezekiel mentions in a confessional how Harold and Sam sound almost the same, referring to how they're played by the same VA in the parent work.
* LesserOfTwoEvils: More like lesser of ''three'' evils, but it's pointed out that every member of ''World Tour's'' final three has done something horrible in the past and the majority favorite (Scarlett), in spite of being the best person morally in the final three and only did the crime due to severe stress, has attempted ''murder''.
* LoveTriangle: Two separate ones.
** In ''Action'', Heather has feelings for Alejandro, who has feelings for her and Kitsune. Kitsune has feelings for Alejandro and Duncan, and Duncan has feelings for Kitsune. Kitsune chooses Duncan and Alejandro and Heather ''eventually'' get together
** In ''World Tour'', Leshawna and Sierra compete for Harold's affections while Malcolm harbors feelings for Sierra. Harold chooses Leshawna and Sierra realizes that she really wanted Malcolm.
* ManipulativeBastard: Alejandro and Natasha. [[spoiler: And to a lesser extent, Mal.]]
** Alejandro fools everyone (except for Noah and Kitsune) into thinking he's a NiceGuy only to turn them all against each other when the mood strikes him.
** [[spoiler:Mal uses psychological warfare to eliminate half of the contestants while using Matthew as a disposable ally and turning everyone against Scarlett after pushing her to her breaking point.]]
** Natasha manages to manipulate his entire team into following his plans from day one, and they all think he's mute at the time.
* MeaningfulName:
** Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox, and her normal outfit consists of fox ears and a tail.
** Natasha is played as a devil in disguise, and his named spelled backwards is "Ah Satan."
* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: Played with. It's Heather's mistreatment of ''Gwen'' that cause Victor, Malcolm, and Noah to betray her.
* TheMole: [[spoiler: Victor returns as one after his original elimination in ''Action'' in order to keep Heather and Kitsune in the game as long as possible.]]
* MythologyGag:
** After Amy's elimination, Mike says that "twinning isn't everything" in response to Sammy asking if it's wrong that she's happy Amy's gone.
** While assembling the Totem Pole of Shame, Alejandro admits Duncan had the skills to reach the Final Four, which he did in canon ''Island''.
** In the second ''Action'' Aftermath, Gwen thinks she would have been sent home during the Prison movie challenge, which is where she was eliminated in canon.
** Blaineley states in the first ''WT'' Aftermath that with her singing talent, Heather could've been a finalist.
** During the telethon, Kitsune reveals that Duncan had a crush on Gwen, referencing their canon relationship.
** Harold's cameo in "Truth or Mutant Shark" is a nod to how he was originally meant to appear in the canon season (likely in the same episode due to the references to him), only for his role to be cut.
** When Scarlett tells Sierra that she's in a relationship with Cody, she replies that he's cute.
** The first episode of ''Redemption'' reveals Gwen and Ella are cousins, serving as a reference to ''WesternAnimation/TotalDramaRama'' where the two are also cousins. The author confirmed the same goes for Max and Owen.
** Scott's strategy for season 9 (crafted from watching past episodes) is inspired by [[https://totaldrama.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:ArtDraw12/How_could%27ve_original_TDAS_look_like%3F?file=All_Stars_Cast.png his scrapped plot]] for canon ''All-Stars''.
** Ezekiel's swapped snooty personality in "A Bunch of Lunatics" is based off of how he was characterized in ''Camp TV'', the prototype of ''TDI''.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:N-Y]]
* TheNicknamer: Noah. He refers to several of the other campers by a name he calls them. Victor is "Wadsworth," Malcolm is "Wile E," Sammy is "Cheer Squad" etc.
* NobleDemon: Courtney in ''Pahkitew Island'' starts out like this, but after [[spoiler:Dave's]] elimination, she [[ThenLetMeBeEvil rolls with it.]]
* NonGameplayElimination: This happens several times during the series, with ''ROTI'' and ''All-Stars 2'' being the only seasons so far not to have one.
** ''Island'':
*** In "Paintball Deer Hunter", [[spoiler: Malcolm is eliminated after being mauled by a bear. He's brought back only to quit in "Wawanakwa Gone Wild". ]]
** ''Action'':
*** In "Top Dog", [[spoiler: Victor is disqualified for voting out Heather when he was only brought back to make sure she made the finale.]]
** ''World Tour'' has the most examples:
*** The first episode has [[spoiler: Noah quit after getting fed up with the new singing rule.]]
*** In "Jamaica Me Sweat", [[spoiler: Duncan ends up being medevaced after being crushed by the plane.]]
*** [[spoiler: Victor is disqualified once again in "Scarlett Fever", this time for not singing.]]
*** Just like canon, Chris disqualifies Sierra for blowing up the jumbo jet, albeit under different circumstances.
** ''All-Stars'':
*** In "You Regatta Be Kidding Me", [[spoiler: Angel is disqualified when Chris believes she destroyed his home.]]
*** Matthew is disqualified in "The Bold and the Booty-ful" for [[spoiler:destroying Chris's house, rigging votes, attempted murder, [[ArsonMurderandJaywalking being last in the challenge and being too severely injured to continue]].]]
** ''Pahkitew Island'':
*** In "Splash Dash Redemption", Dave quits to prevent Britney's elimination, per Courtney's advice. [[spoiler: It turns out that ''Courtney'' was going to be eliminated.]]
*** "Blast From The Past" has two: [[spoiler: Geoff is disqualified for slamming Matthew into the island's computer while Izzy is chased off by the RCMP.]]
** ''Danger Island'':
*** In "Fright or Flight", [[spoiler: Lindsay is eliminated after she is severely injured crossing a minefield.]]
*** In "By Hook or By Cook", [[spoiler:Owen quits out of guilt for revealing Contessa's orientation to Olivia. Unfortunately, he ended up doing exactly what Olivia expected him to.]]
* NotHisSled: Much like canon, "The Sucky Outdoors" sees Duncan and a nerdy girl (in this case Scarlett) snuggling overnight and Duncan has been flirting with her. Only different is that Duncan and Scarlett don't end up together. Duncan gets together with Kitsune, while Scarlett later hooks up with Cody.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Dakota came to believe [[spoiler:Olivia and Rebecca]] were irredeemable witches.
* OddFriendship:
** Kitsune and Alejandro; after being forced to ally to stay in the game, the two become good friends.
** Heather and Shawn: although they initially tolerated one another due to their alliance, they come to see each other as friends.
** Bridgette and Lightning; due to the latter swapping teams and knowing he'd be the next one sent home, Bridgette promises to prevent that. They end up becoming close friends and bond over their respective crushes on Angel and Lily.
** Dave and Geoff after the latter helps the former hook up with Britney, with Dave coming to see Geoff as his best friend.
** Owen and Contessa; Owen serves as the first real friend Contessa's had since [[spoiler:her childhood friend, Olivia]] and he actively supports her when she tells him he's a lesbian. He also serves as her emotional support [[spoiler:after Rebecca takes advantage of her and tries to get her out of her funk in Season 8.]]
* {{Official Couple}}/{{Ship Tease}}: Several hints, and later couples, pop up over the course of the series:
** First Generation: Mike/Zoey, DJ/Sammy, Duncan/Kitsune/, Leshawna/Harold, Gwen/Trent, Malcolm/Sierra and Alejandro/Heather.
** Second Generation: Lily/Lightning, Angel/Bridgette, Beardo/Ella and [[spoiler:Eva/Ezekiel.]]
** Third Generation: Dave/Britney, Brick/Courtney, Geoff/Katie and [[spoiler:Cameron/Sadie]]
** Fourth Generation: Jasmine/Mitch, Leonard/Lindsay and [[spoiler:Contessa/Olivia.]]
** ''Ridonculous Race'': Carrie/Devin, [[spoiler:Caitlin/Jen and Steven/Tom.]]
** Mixed Generations: Cody/Scarlett, Owen/Izzy, Noah/Emma, [[spoiler:Carly/Shawn, and Amy/Scott]].
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname:
** Kitsune. The majority of the cast call her this, despite her real name being revealed as Faith. The only person who calls her Faith is Heather mainly because she knows Kitsune hates it.
** Sammy ''was'' this, with almost everyone calling her Samey. However, once everyone bonds with her and she makes it clear how much she hates it, everyone switches to her real name, with only Chris and Amy continuing to use Samey and even Chris drops it eventually.
** Lightning is another example, with Lily referring to him to a diminutive version of 'Rudolph' (Rudy), his actual name.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Dave lampshades this in "Total Drama's Got Talent": if Jaxon ''doesn't'' speak in the third person, you know he's out of it.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Matthew is a rather villainous example. Despite being the main, and practically only antagonist in ''World Tour'', [[spoiler:he very quickly winds up taking a backseat to Mal about halfway through the season.]]
* PragmaticVillainy: Lily describes her actions as such, using her friends and her crush to further herself in the game despite caring for them.
* RelatedInTheAdaptation:
** Harold and Scarlett are given a brother-sister (twins, in fact) relationship in the fic's universe, despite there being no indication that either of them even know of the other's existence (never mind being related) in canon.
** Similarly, Dave is Noah's cousin here, and Dave only signed up on his mother's insistence [[spoiler:because Noah won]].
** As mentioned in MythologyGag above, Ella and Max are Gwen and Owen's respective cousins here.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech:
** Just like Lindsay's rant to Heather in canon "That's Off The Chain!", Sammy gives one to Amy so vicious, most of it had to be censored.
** Mal chews out Matthew in "Planes, Trains, and Hot Air Mobiles" for his multiple attempts to betray him, calling him a coward and a weasel.
** Dawn, [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness of all people]] dishes one out on Katie in "Trivial Pursuits", pointing out how everything she did since the merge makes her no different than Justin. It's enough to make Katie break down crying.
* SanitySlippage: Matthew goes through one during ''All-Stars'' to the point where the author states he's turning into Mal.
* SecretKeeper: Upon learning of Mike's disorder in "Not Quite Famous", Sammy keeps it to herself until his elimination. [[spoiler:"Revenge of the Telethon" reveals he told her about Mal between seasons.]]
* ShipperOnDeck: Quite a few.
** Kitsune for Trent/Gwen.
** Sammy for Mike/Zoey.
** Mike for Sammy/DJ.
** Bridgette for Beardo/Ella.
** Lily and Chef for Angel/Bridgette
** Angel, Bridgette, and Ella for Lily/Lightning.
** Bridgette, Lily and Sierra for Cody/Scarlett.
** Geoff and Dawn for Britney/Dave.
** Owen for Contessa/Rebecca [[spoiler: (it doesn't last.)]].
** Dawn and Katie for [[spoiler: Contessa/Olivia.]]
* ShoutOut:
** Noah calls Malcolm [[WesternAnimation/WileECoyoteAndTheRoadRunner Wile E.]] due to his habit of always getting hurt.
** While discussing the murder of Chris in ''Get a Clue'' Kitsune, Heather, and Sugar have [[Film/{{Clue}} a very circular argument.]]
** In "Crouching Heather, Hidden Victor", Kitsune says she'll turn Heather into a regular [[WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil Mackie Hand]].
** Chris mentions that there is a piece of ply wood because the jumbo jet will explode [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy if anything gets]] [[Franchise/StarWars in the exhaust pipe.]]
** The first ''World Tour'' Aftermath is named "[[Series/MalcolmInTheMiddle Malcolm in the Middle]]". Additionally, the episode's first song is based off "Busted" from ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb''.
** The song in "Scarlett Fever" is based off the original ''WesternAnimation/Ben10'' theme song.
** When using mining carts, Lily says [[WesternAnimation/TheEmperorsNewSchool "Pull the lever Kronk!"]]
** Three of the mutant gophers Staci tamed are named [[WesternAnimation/ThomasAndFriends Henry, Lady and Emily]].
** Kitsune references [[Series/{{Jeopardy}} a certain game show]] during a confessional in "Food Fright."
---> '''Kitsune''': "I'll take 'Things That Don't Make Me Feel Better' for 800, [[Creator/AlexTrebek Alex]]."
** The Randomverse counterpart to 'Zeek and Ye Shall Find' is called [[Film/AlienvsPredator Alien vs. Competitor, which features an alien.]]
** The seventh episode of ''All-Stars 2'' is called "Hey, Seoul Sister" which is an obvious reference to [[Music/{{Train}} Train's]] hit song "Hey, Soul Sister".
** The fourth episode of ''Redemption'' makes a reference to the lyrics of Edwin Starr's song "War" after Chris announces the challenge.
* ShrinkingViolet: Carly, who has a moderate case of pantaphobia.
* SiblingYinYang:
** Harold and Scarlett could not be more different personality wise. Harold is always over the top, tends to goof off, very open about his feelings and most of his interests are related to random geeky things. On the other hand, Scarlett is subdued, serious, tends to keep her feelings to herself and most of her interests relate to academics.
** Angel and Lily are even more different. Angel is nice, sees the best in everything and is very open in her feelings. On the other hand, Lily is more bitter, sees the worse in everything and would rather keep her feelings to herself.
* SlipperySwimsuit: Happens to Amy in 'After the Dock of Shame'. and to Sammy in 'One Million Bucks BC'.
* StatusQuoIsGod: The bonus clip of "The Final Wreck-ening" has Shawn considering giving up his zombie obsession. Then Kitsune swims up behind him wearing a zombie mask and scares him off.
* SuddenlySpeaking: The others had no idea Natasha could talk when he does.
* TakeThat: The infamous chart gets a shot taken at it in "Moroccan Roll" where Topher creates a fake one in order to frame Courtney to her ally Geoff in order to break them up. After it's revealed that Topher's plan failed, Geoff points out how ''stupid'' you would have to be to make a chart with your preferred elimination order when anyone could grab it.
* TeamKiller: Lily tries this to eliminate Jo in season four. Matthew tries it again next season and [[spoiler: Scott]] applies it in season seven.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Alejandro and Kitsune very clearly despise each other, but admit to being able to work together if need be in ''Action.''
* TemptingFate: During the first challenge of ''All-Stars'', Kitsune voices her glee at not being on a team of villains again. [[spoiler:Two episodes later, she switches to the Villainous Vultures.]]
* ThemeTwinNaming: Angel (one of the nicest girls on the island) and Lily (one of the antagonists).
* TokenEvilTeammate:
** Amy for the Screaming Gaffers in ''Action''
** Alejandro for Team Chris in ''World Tour''
** Matthew for Team Omega in ''World Tour''
** Heather for Team Amazon in ''World Tour'', [[spoiler: later Alejandro when he switched teams.]]
** Jo for the Mutant Maggots in ''Revenge of the Island''.
** Courtney for the Confused Bears and Justin for the Floating Salmon in ''Pahkitew Island''.
* TokenGoodTeammate:
** Kitsune for the Killer Grips in ''Action'' [[spoiler: after Alejandro enters the game and Victor is eliminated.]]
** Tyler for Team Omega in ''World Tour'' [[spoiler: after Noah is eliminated.]]
** Ezekiel for the Toxic Rats in ''Revenge of the Island'' [[spoiler:after Jo joins the team.]]
** Mike for the Villainous Vultures in ''All-Stars.'' [[spoiler:Angel later fulfills the role after Kitsune's eliminated.]]
** Jasmine for the Ruby Warriors in ''Danger Island'' [[spoiler: after Lindsay is medevaced from the competition.]]
** Geoff for the Villainous Vipers in ''All-Stars 2'' [[spoiler: (though his attitude towards it makes him an AntiVillain).]]
* VoiceForTheVoiceless:
** Lily frequently translates what Natasha is trying to say through his mute communication, although this stops once it's revealed he can talk just fine.
** Dawn also translates B's thoughts and ideas to the other campers.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: Sam, Anne Maria, and Max, who only compete in one episode when they debuted. This can also apply to Gary, Jaxon, and Andrew & Elliot who only lasted two episodes.
** Averted with Dakota, who was axed by the second episode of season seven but still appeared in every episode of the season.
** Averted when all of them aside from Max return in ''Redemption''.
* WhatTheHellHero: Very few people are pleased with Kitsune's move to vote for Alejandro after they'd become friends to the point where DJ and Victor take an entire episode to decide if they should trust her.
* XanatosSpeedChess: As part of his strategy, Natasha observes his fellow contestants and should his current plans change, he'll learn from his mistakes and adapt to the situation.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: An unintentional case. In the bonus clip of "You Regatta Be Kidding Me", Angel doesn't believe she was a good villain after she's eliminated, but Sugar tells her that with the way she was eliminated, someone must have considered her a threat, which cheers Angel up.
