->''"When a world with two godly beings is split into a civil war that spills into four other worlds, warriors from all four worlds must unite to combat this threat."''
-->--Summary of the prologue

What happens when you crossover pirates, ninja, wizards, and soul reapers against a common threat? Possibly the most massive multi-fandom crossover ever to hit fanfiction. ''Five Worlds War'' is a series of crossovers, currently having two installments, by [[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/3838215/ND2014 ND2014]] on Website/FanFictionDotNet. The story has the Lord of Order, Chitsujo, bring together the worlds of ''Franchise/OnePiece'', ''Franchise/{{Bleach}}'', ''Manga/FairyTail'', and ''Franchise/{{Naruto}}'' (The Alliance) against pretty much every single enemy the protagonists have ever faced (The Conqueror's Coalition), all of whom have been gathered by the Lord of Chaos, Konton.

This is not your average crossover. Anything goes- anything can be destroyed, any''one'' can die, and none of the five worlds are coming out unscathed.

The saga has three installments currently, but will have a total of six by the time the author is done. Here is what is posted:

!!''Five Worlds War'' contains examples of:
[[foldercontrol]]
[[folder:Tropes A - F]]
* AcheyScars: Yuka Suzuki has one as a result of his battle during the Mercurius Prison Break Arc.
* ActionDad: Isshin Kurosaki, Shibi Aburame, Gildarts Clive, Monkey D. Dragon, Alzack Connell, Macao Conbolt, Choza Akimichi, Hiashi Hyuuga, Shikaku Nara, [[spoiler:Inoichi Yamanaka]], Yasopp.
* ActionGirl: Pick a girl, any girl. Odds are she is one.
* ActionMom: Tsume Inuzuka, who is fighting in the Alliance in the Fifth Division with her son and daughter.
* AdaptationExpansion: The story does expand on certain characters' backstories, such as Chelia Blendy, Yugito Nii, and Bacchus Groh.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Many battles in the war become this for certain characters. We'll probably see one for everyone before the war is over.
* AdvancingWallOfDoom: Crocodile creates a giant tidal wave of sand to bury the Allied Forces during one of the battles, [[spoiler:but thankfully Jellal destroys it]].
* AffablyEvil: As always, Kisame Hoshigaki is rather friendly with the Alliance fighters, even having a civil conversation with Luffy about not being a Fishman, after complimenting the Pirate on his entrance. Even when an OC is yelling for him to fight, Kisame argues that just because he has to kill someone doesn't mean he can't make conversation.
* AgentPeacock: Yumichika Ayasegawa, Cavendish, Emporio Ivankov, and Charlotte Chuhlhourne.
* AGodAmI: Jose gains this attitude after becoming drunk on his own power in chapter 94 of the second installment, going on about how no one could comprehend his power and claiming he wanted to slay Chitsujo himself.
* AlasPoorVillain: Although a large number of them weren't villains to begin with, there are members of the Coailtion who were indoctrinated and are being forced to fight via a form of mind control. It absolutely tears them up inside and the reader can't help but feel sorry for them.
** Kabuto Yakushi is a prime example. Being an ex-villain [[spoiler:revealed as of the events of Naruto Gaiden]], he hates that he's being controlled just when he found his true identity, and that the control is making him act so cruel.
* AlienArtsAreAppreciated: It's not exactly art, but Erza seems to really like Jiraiya's books.
* AllDeathsFinal: Anyone who dies in this war. Konton has put a spell on the five worlds making it so those who usually ''can'' bring the dead back can no longer do so, like Orihime Inoue and Hachigen Ushoda.
* AllThereInTheManual: The author will sometimes reveal which characters are in which division, which characters will be appearing, and which characters are officially dead in a Q&A section before it is revealed in-story.
* AlternateTimeline: The four anime worlds, technically. As explained by Chitsujo, the minute he and his brother brought these worlds together, they knocked them of the canon track they were supposed to take. In the case of the Fairy Tail World, the Alvarez War never happened. In the case of the One Piece World, Sanji having to leave to marry Big Mom's daughter never happened because the incoming war forced the Emperor to hold off on the order.
* AnArmAndALeg:
** Lyon Vastia gets his arm blown off in the first installment by Deidara. Thankfully, Ichigo offers to take him back to the Bleach world so Orihime can fix it.
** Eustass Kidd gets his good arm shriveled to a husk by Pakura's Scorch Style, but thankfully Hachigen Ushoda fixes it.
** Nullpudding gets his arm cut off by Renji Abarai... then his head not long after.
** [[spoiler: Admiral Kizaru]] in the Second Battle of Hargeon. He loses an arm and is ''not'' happy about it.
** In chapter 88 of the second installment, [[spoiler: Gajeel]] manages to get ''both'' his arms blown off by Gladius. Despite this, he ''still'' manages to win his fight. That's determination for you.
** Baki loses a hand, Cana Alberona gets her arm aged, and Rojuro Otoribashi loses an arm during the Battle of Mount Hakobe. Baki comments Hachigen is going to be busy.
** Laxus Dreyar loses an arm during his fight with NaNaNa Najahkoop.
* AnIcePerson: Rukia Kuchiki, Toshiro Hitsugaya, Gray Fullbuster, Lyon Vastia, Haku, Eve Tearm (who uses snow).
* AnswerCut: During his fight with Jirobo, Franky gets caught and then uses Coup de Fume (basically a fart in his face) to get him to let go and to use as a smokescreen. Jirobo, disgusted, asks what kind of moron uses a fart as an attack. The scene then cuts to Naruto and Kiba- Kiba starts glaring at the former and gets the sudden desire to beat the crap out of him.
* ArcVillain: This usually depends on which Coalition middle management officer Konton assigns to oversee a territory (as well as overseeing battles that help the Coalition retain said territories):
** Kabuto Yakushi for the Battle of Aster Mountains.
** Diamante for the Battle of Worth Woodsea.
** Kizaru for both the First and Second Battles of Hargeon.
** Smoker [[spoiler: and Konton's mind fragment]] for the Battle of the Red Willow.
** Caesar Clown [[spoiler: and Zeref]] for the Battle of Clover Town.
** [[spoiler: Yukio Hans Vorarlberna]] for the Mercurius Prison Break Arc.
** Orochimaru for the [[spoiler: Nirvana Discovery]] Arc and the Battle of Anemones Plain.
** Jose Portla for the Battle of Kunugi Town.
** For the Dance Powder Investigation Arc, it's several OCs named Toragashira, Toritsubasa, Gekkame, and Ryukaku, who are the chief tax collectors of Konton's kingdom.
** Baraggan Louisenbairn [[spoiler: and 2nd Kazekage Shamon]] for the Battle of Mount Hakobe.
** The Battle of Magnolia's big bad is [[spoiler: Royd Lloyd disguised as Yhwach]].
** The Battle of Nirvana is led once again by Orochimaru.
* ArmyOfTheAges: The Coalition Army includes enemies (and allies) from the past that Lord Konton resurrected. The Alliance has a few as well.
* * TheAtoner: Jellal Fernandez and Sasuke Uchiha both see themselves as this.
** Uryu Ishida as well, to an extent.
** [[spoiler:Usopp]] feels he is this after his cowardice got some soldiers killed during the Battle of the Aster Mountains.
** Obito Uchiha and Nagato want to be this, but might have a hard time with it due to being indoctrinated into the Coalition.
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever:
** [[spoiler:The giant Two-Tailed Cat Matatabi]] during the Battle of Red Willow.
** Killer B could count whenever he goes Eight-Tails.
** Makarov Dreyar with his Giant Magic, as Quilge Opie learns painfully.
* BackFromTheDead: Pretty much ''every important/semi-important character'' who has ever died in these anime.
* BadassArmy: Both the Alliance and the Coalition armies, given all the badass anime characters that are in them.
* BadassFamily: The Monkey Family, the Kurosaki Family, Inuzuka Clan, Hyuuga Clan... worlds of badass almost guarantee badass families.
* BadassNormal: While the characters from One Piece are far from the conventional definition of "normal", they are normal in the sense they don't have anything "special" about them like the other worlds- magic for wizards, chakra for ninjas, and spirit energy for the soul reapers. This actually comes in handy because it makes them almost impossible to detect and they can't be drained of their power. And they're strong anyway even without that "specialness," so, yeah, badass!
* BadBoss: Too many to name, and they're all in the Coalition. 'Nuff said.
* BattleDiscretionShot: At the end of chapter 24 of the second installment, Cavendish is about to wail on Mangetsu Hozuki for "ruining" his beauty. The chapter ends with Mangetsu screaming in horror and we never see just what Cavendish does to him.
* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: Naruto vs [[spoiler:the Konton mind fragment in Yugito's mind.]]
* BearsAreBadNews: In the case one Bartholomew Kuma ("kuma" being Japanese for bear), then yes, definitely.
* BelligerentSexualTension:
** Gajeel and Levy.
** An argument can be made for Roronoa Zoro and Kagura Mikazuchi.
* BenevolentBoss: Chitsujo to the max. He's one of the kindest, most reasonable characters in the fic.
* BerserkButton:
** Don't call Choji Akimichi fat.
** Don't resurrect Kakashi Hatake's dead friends only to indoctrinate them into your army, then act like it's no big deal. Kizaru learns this one the hard way.
** Don't hurt those Luffy calls friend, or make them cry.
** Don't insult Jashin in front of Hidan.
** Don't harm the ladies in front of Sanji.
** Don't imply Anko Mitarashi is getting fat. Ever.
* TheBet: A huge one is made between Chitsujo and Zeref right before the Battle of Magnolia. If the Alliance takes the city on the first try, Zeref will reveal his location. If the Alliance fails to take Magnolia, then Chitsujo has to give himself up to the Coalition.
** However, Chitsujo decides to turn the bet in his favor by resurrecting [[spoiler:Ace, Neji, Hashirama, and Tobirama]] and placing them on the battlefield.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Mirajane Strauss, Hinata Hyuuga, Monkey D. Luffy... this is one of those lists that would be too long to finish.
* BigBad: Lord Konton, no contest. He is pursuing this war, killing hundreds of people and enslaving who knows how many others for the war effort, and created the Four Acts of Chaos just because ''he hates his brother.'' Even his Acts have "better" reasons for being evil than him, and that's saying something!
* BigBadassBattleSequence: The Fifth Division members taking on the Coalition Army in [[spoiler:the Battle of the Anemone Plains, aiding their allies in the First Division.]]
* BigBadEnsemble: In addition to Konton, there are Four Acts of Chaos- Marshall D. Teach, Madara Uchiha, Zeref, and Yhwach.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Sabo to Luffy. Said instinct even manages to almost get him killed [[spoiler:by Zeref in a manner eerily similar to Ace's death.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:Naruto and the Fifth Division]] in chapter 77 of the second installment.
** To a certain extent, [[spoiler:Portgas D. Ace, Neji Hyuuga, Hashirama Senju, and Tobirama Senju]] are this during the Battle of Magnolia.
* BigEater: Luffy, as per usual. Love Aikawa even comments that this is a common trait in (manga) heroes.
* BigEntrance: Averted multiple times by Dordoni Alessandro Del Socaccio. He tries to make his big entrance only to fall flat on his face.
* BigGood: Lord Chitsujo, what with him being the Lord Order and the guy who created the Four Acts of Order.
* BigNo: Someone usually gives one when the Allied RedShirts get mercilessly killed by one of the canon bad guys.
* BigOlEyebrows: Might Guy, Rock Lee, Yuka Suzuki.
* BigShutUp: Sabo gives one to Zeref to get him to stop talking like he knows him or his brothers.
* BittersweetEnding: The Battle of Red Willow may have been won, but [[spoiler: Yugito Nii is in a coma due to trying to resist being forced to transform into her full Tailed Beast form.]]
* BlackAndGrayMorality: This actually comes up as an issue during the Battle of Red Willow. During his fight with Vice Admiral Smoker, Naruto is brought to the attention of the fact that many members of the Alliance are ''pirates''- many of which who aren't like Luffy and have hurt people and done terrible things. There's also Monkey D. Dragon, whose revolution has caused just as much bloodshed and chaos as the Navy. This bothers Naruto greatly, to the point which after the battle he demands to speak with Dragon and Chitsujo about it. The conversation they end up having is very enlightening.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: The Navy, and it annoys many of the protagonists to no end.
** Gray Fullbuster has this when it comes to demons (demons are all evil and etc), and it is hinted that this may become a problem in the future.
* BloodFromTheMouth: Too many times to count.
* BloodKnight: Kenpachi Zaraki, Ikkaku Madarame, Yumichika Ayasegawa, Grimmjow Jaegarjaquez, Nnoitra Gilga, Roronoa Zoro, Ryuuma, Kaku, Rob Lucci, Madara Uchiha, Suigetsu Hozuki, Hidan, Mangetsu Hozuki, any of the other Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, Azuma, Abirama Redder... we could be here all day listing them off.
* BlowYouAway: Wendy Marvell, Ren Akatsuki, Temari, Chelia Blendy, Monkey D. Dragon, Erigor, Kensei Muguruma, Dordoni Alessandro Del Socacchio, Franky with his Coup de Vent, any of the ninjas' Wind Style Justus...
* BroughtDownToNormal: [[spoiler:Jose Portla]] at the end of the Battle of Kunugi Town, as he loses his ability to use magic forever.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Many of the members in either army. Kisuke Urahara, Kakashi Hatake, the entire Straw Hat crew, members of Doflamingo's crew... as said many times before, we'd be be here all day listing them.
** Special mention goes out to [[spoiler:Haredas]], who manages to help save the day during the Dance Powder Investigation by [[spoiler:being resourceful enough to finally develop a (much sought after) countermeasure against Dance Powder]], despite having previously been portrayed as goofy, absent-minded, and often tardy/suspiciously absent.
* CainAndAbel: Lord Chitsujo and Lord Konton.
* CallBack: So, ''so'' many. Here are a few notable examples:
** Sakura Haruno at one point uses the Hidden Mole Jutsu to hide underground, only to pop out of the ground and punch Meninas Mcallon in the jaw. She mentally apologizes to Naruto for stealing his style, calling back to when he used the same technique against Neji Hyuuga during the Chunin Exams.
** Sanji comments it's been while since he's fought zombies when Giselle Gewelle's show up, and asks if anyone has any salt. This is a callback to the Thriller Back Arc.
** Elfman Strauss uses the exact same strategy he used against Bacchus during the Grand Magic Games against Dellinger, commenting about it after.
** Gajeel wins his fight against [[spoiler: a demonized]] Kuro by using his Iron Dragon Scales and said scales breaking Kuro's claws. He complains about having to use the same strategy Elfman used during the Grand Magic Games.
** Towards the end Mercurius Prison Break Arc, Gremmy Thoumeux calls down a meteor towards Crocus. Gaara and A react by saying, "Not again." This calls back to the 4th Shinobi War when Madara did the same thing.
** When Natsu hears Sasuke is fighting Franmalth, he immediately runs off to find a giant rock to beat him with. This is a callback to his last encounter with Franmalth.
** Hinata Hyuuga when she declares she's not going to let anyone die in front of her again. This calls back to the 4th Shinobi War when her cousin Neji died in front of her.
** When fighting Jose, Luffy lists all the people who ever pissed him off that Jose reminds him of- Crocodile, Arlong, Rob Lucci, Aokiji.
** When Nemu attempts to seduce the guards at the Treasury, the author said it is a call back to an old Bleach omake where Rangiku tried to teach seduction techniques to the Soul Reaper Women's Association.
* CallForward: In a conversation with Chitsujo, Mei Terumi comments that Chojuro has the potential to take her place as Mizukage one day. In the manga's final chapter, it is revealed that he ends up doing just that.
* CallingYourAttacks: The story revolves around ''anime'' worlds, so it's a given.
* CasanovaWannabe: Sanji, who despite all the gorgeous new women he's met from all the worlds, still has yet to garner any of their attention. In fact, most of them agree he's a pervert- except Neliel Tu Oderschvank, who doesn't know any better.
* CasualDangerDialogue:
** Gildarts Clive flirting with Candice Catnipp during their fight, which only serves to enrage the woman.
** Tayuya and Evergreen taking the time to both scold Bickslow for being sexist, only to realize what they're doing and jump away from each other.
** Natsu asking Grimmjow's Fraccion if they cosplay when he sees their released forms, and saying Yllfordt's makes him want steak.
** Shunsui Kyoraku teasing Orochimaru about wanting [[spoiler:Ichigo's]] body (for his Living Corpse Reincarnation Jutsu, but Shusui makes it sound like the old snake wants him sexually).
** Lisa Yadomaru pointing out all the accidental sexual innuendo Sasori keeps on saying, which annoys the latter greatly.
%%* ChasteHero: Luffy, as per usual. Natsu as well.
* ChekhovsGun: During the Battle of Clover Town, Wapol manages to eat some of Gajeel Redfox's Iron Dragon Scales. This seems non-important at the time, but it comes back in the form of the Iron Maidens during the Second Battle of Hargeon, which were created using the scales fusing with other metal in Wapol's stomach.
* ChewOutFakeOut: Kisuke and Shikaku at one point make a bet about whether the Hidden Mist Jutsu would be cleared during the Battle of Worth Woodsea. Beckman is appalled by the lack of professionalism, and Mavis- after giving some orders- turns to them sternly:
--> '''Mavis:''' As for you two...
--> ''Shikaku and Kisuke looked at her with slight nervousness. Beckman nodded in approval, thinking Mavis was going to discipline the two.''
--> '''Mavis:''' Who do you guys think you are, not letting me in on this bet of yours?!
--> '''Beckman:''' Mavis!
* ChickMagnet: Luffy still gets all the attention of women- and every other male in his division hates him for it.
** He manage to get Samui to be in love with him the same way like Boa Hancock.[[spoiler: Luffy even got HINATA (who loved Naruto for ''years'') to develop feelings for him.]]
* ChildSoldiers: Some of the Alliance members are rather young to be fighting in the war, like Wendy Marvell, who's only 13 or 14 years old. Then there's Toshiro Hitsugaya and Yachiru Kusajishi, who- though they're both probably older than they look- are biologically still children.
** Not to mention a large percentage of the ninja main characters we see are still ''teeangers.''
* ChirpingCrickets: A tumbleweed goes by Ino Yamanaka in chapter 106 of the second installment after she makes a really bad joke.
* [[ChristmasEpisode Christmas Omake]]: The author does one where Ichigo is reading ''A Christmas Carol'' to his sisters, and various characters from the story fill in for the cast of the book. Kakuzu as Scrooge, Hidan as Jacob Marley, Mavis Vermillion as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Whitebeard as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and so on.
* CombatClairvoyance: Anyone with Observation Haki.
** Cobra to an extent with his magical hearing.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint:
** Naruto is briefly captured during the Battle of Red Willow by Riruka Dokugamine, who wants him and the other Acts for a reverse-harem. Instead of being angry about being captured, he loudly declares that "Naruto Uzumaki" doesn't need three other men to make a woman happy.
** Fourth Raikage A, after being told the Coalition has a blacklist for individuals they find to be the worst threats (which is essentially a ''hit list''), demands to know why he comes up at only number fourteen. Gaara tells him to prioritize.
** When facing a Pacifista, Gildarts learns that to the Coalition, he is a low S-Class target. Much like A, Gildarts immediately demands to know who is higher than him.
** When [[spoiler:Yhwach]] is destroying the Fairy Tail guild hall during the Battle of Magnolia, Makarov gets angry. Why? Because last time the guild hall destroyed, it took two hours to fix- which is apparently a ''really'' long time for wizards.
* ContinuityNod: There are nods to the source manga that play well with the story:
** The Four Gods of Ishgar are currently protecting the western side of Fiore instead of helping in the east because though this war is happening, the Alvarez Empire is still a looming threat.
** Laxus is still suffering from the Anti-Magic Particles.
* CoolSword: The soul reapers' zanpakuto, Kagura Mikazuchi's blade Archenemy, the blades of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, Zoro's swords, etc...
* CornerOfWoe: Kisuke Urahara enters one whenever someone mistakes him for being homeless when in actuality he's an important member of the Intelligence Division.
* CovertPervert:
** Erza Scarlet, who refuses to admit she is perverted. Especially when she gets her hands on one of Jiraiya's books...
** Ichigo, who claims to be a man who doesn't give in to temptation. But given his reaction to Erza's rather eye-catching armors...
* CrapSaccharineWorld: The world of One Piece. While it produces people like the Straw Hat Pirates, many of the characters from the other worlds are disturbed by the sheer amount of corruption that is there.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: This sums up Natsu, Luffy, and Naruto in a nutshell. Everyone agrees they're not the sharpest tools in the shed, but all have incredibly power. Ichigo avoids this due to being the smartest of the Acts.
* CultureChopSuey: The One Piece and Fairy Tail Worlds.
** In chapter 84 of the second installment, the Second Division arrive at a Japanese-themed town called Kunugi Town. While Hibiki Lates describes the town as "traditional-looking", Kisuke notes that it looks Japanese and briefly wonders what they would call it in Fiore.
* CurbStompBattle: Happens often between higher-ups and the grunts, but here are a few more specific examples:
** Naruto vs Riruka Dokugamine (if you want to call it that).
** Benn Beckmann vs Luppi Antenor.
** Mavis Vermillion vs Captain Kuro.
** Luffy gives one to Jackal during the Battle of Kunugi Town for making Flare cry and bragging about destroying [[spoiler:her village]].
** Makarov Dreyar vs Quilge Opie.
* CuteBruiser: Yachiru Kusajishi, Hiyori Sarugaki, Meninas Mcallon, Sakura Haruno...
* DamselInDistress: Flare Corona becomes one when the members of Raven Tail gang up on her, and is saved by Renji Abarai, who refers to her as one and calls himself "the knight."
* DarkAndTroubledPast: The cast is made up almost entirely of ''anime characters.'' Throw a stick, chances are you'll hit someone who has one.
** The author gives Ms. Valentines one in chapter 102 of the second installment. See Laughing Mad below.
* DeadToBeginWith: The soul reapers, who are technically dead spirits. This actually comes in handy during the Battle of the Aster Mountains.
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: [[spoiler:This now applies to most of Edolas Fairy Tail.]]
* DeathByAdaptation: One of the major factors of this fic- ''anyone'' can die. Victims so far (on the side of good, anyway) include [[spoiler: Ren Akatsuki, Atsui, the majority of Edolas' Fairy Tail, Urouge, and Yumichika Ayasegawa.]]
* DeclarationOfProtection: Hinata Hyuuga does this for [[spoiler:Luffy]] when Jackal tries to finish him off, declaring she's not going to let anyone die in front of her ever again, and that she will protect him.
* DestructiveSaviour: The Alliance so far have had to destroy a lot of the cities occupied by the Coalition. They reason that buildings are rebuildable- human lives are not.
* DisappointedByTheMotive: Naruto (to the point of pushing his BerserkButton) when he asks Konton[[spoiler:'s mind fragment]] what his reasoning is for starting this war. The reasoning? He simply hates his brother.
* DishingOutDirt: Gaara, Akatsuchi, Kurotsuchi, Monsieur Sol, Jura Neekis, Max Alors, Crocodile, any ninja with Earth Style Jutsu...
* DistractedByTheSexy:
** Naruto multiple times when Erza Scarlet breaks out some of her more revealing armors.
** Ichigo actually points out to Erza that her armors are distracting and inappropriate, though this is because he doesn't want to admit he ''is'' distracted.
** Sanji. That is all.
* DramaPreservingHandicap: Gray Fullbuster has been given one. Lord Chitsujo sealed away his Devil-Slaying Magic, claiming he's not ready to wield it properly with the darkness he holds within him.
* DrJerk: Kureha and Porlyusica.
* DynamicEntry: Might Guy and Rock Lee pull a Double Dynamic Entry against Kuma during the Battle of Anemone Plains.
* EatingTheEnemy:
** Fukuro of Trinity Raven does this to Suigetsu Hozuki. Luckily, Jugo makes him throw him back up.
** Liltotto Lamperd, also known as Sternritter "G" the Glutton, does this to several Alliance grunts.
* EldritchAbomination: The Iron Maidens during the Second Battle of Hargeon.
* ElementalPowers: This applies to many of the wizards, ninjas, and some of the pirates in the story.
* ElementalShapeshifter: Juvia Lockser, Suigetsu Hozuki, Sabo, Monet, Crocodile, Caesar Clown, Mangetsu Hozuki, Admiral Kizaru, Fleet Admiral Sakazuki...
* EliteFour: The Four Acts of Order, the Four Acts of Chaos, the Four Leaders of the Intelligence Division...
* EliteArmy: Both Chitsujo and Konton have one, but they don't put them on the battlefield because if one of them did, the other would answer in kind. (Think of it as the brothers being the USA and the USSR, and the elites being the nukes.)
* EmbarrassingNickname: Ichigo's bounty nickname is "Strawberry Reaper".
* EnduranceDuel: Elfman Strauss pulls this against Dellinger the same way he did with Bacchus Groh during the Grand Magic Games.
* EnergyAbsorption:
** Quincies can do it with reshi, magic energy, and chakra.
** Aria's Metsu Spell.
** The Samehada blade can do this as well.
** [[spoiler:Jose Portla]] gains this ability after eating the Charge Charge Fruit.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** Deidara does not stop Chelia from treating Lyon after he blows the latter's arm off, claiming there is no reason for him to.
** Senor Pink notes using Giselle Gewelle's zombies is dishonorable, and mentally threatens that she'd better not touch his family.
** Smoker (while not evil ''is'' with the Coalition) specifically ordered Yugito Nii not to enter her full Tailed Beast form because he knew she could cause just as much damage to his own men as she could to the Alliance.
** Grimmjow told his Fraccion that he didn't care if they died themselves, but they were not to kill ''each other.'' Otherwise, why be in a group?
* EvilIsDeathlyCold: Konton's strongest subordinate, [[spoiler:Uragiri]], uses Black Ice, and loves to freeze good-looking women in it as a collection of statues.
* EvilWeapon: [[spoiler:Nirvana,]] the Iron Maidens, and [[spoiler:Lumen Histoire (which is in Coalition hands)]].
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: Orochimaru summons Fire Snakes during his fight with Shunsui [[spoiler: and Jellal]]. One guess as to what they do.
* ExplainingYourPowerToTheEnemy: It's an anime fic. It's happened, though some characters actively avoid it.
* EyesAlwaysShut: [[spoiler:Gin Ichimaru.]] Sasuke expresses annoyance that he can't tell if the man's eyes are open or not.
* FaceFault: The least likely of characters do this at the best times, such as Kurama and Sasuke, for the best reasons.
* FacelessGoons: The Soldat, the grunts of the Coalition, disposable members of pirates crews, etc.
* FastballSpecial: Killer Bee and Sanji (Sanji being the ball in question) do this during their fight with Jerome Guizbatt.
* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler:Boa Sandersonia, Boa Marigold, Toshiro Hitsugaya, and Kensei Muguruma]], who were absorbed into Franmalth. They would have been unable to die and their powers would have been used forever against their friends if Sasuke Uchiha hadn't freed them.
* FireForgedFriends: The various members of the various divisions in the Alliance are becoming this.
** Obito Uchiha and Nagato, both of whom have been revived by Konton, are becoming this, bonding through the fact they were both once evil and got beat up by Naruto.
* FieryRedhead: Renji Abarai, Erza Scarlet, Natsu Dragneel/Sakura Haruno/Yachiru Kusajishi if you count their pink hair, Flare Corona, Tayuya, Karui, Nami, Eustass Kidd.
* [[FlashBack Flashback]]: There a few, ranging from what certain characters were doing right before the start of the war to parts of certain characters' pasts.
* FlashStep:
** The soul reapers can naturally do this with Shunpo.
** The Arrancars can do the same with Sonido.
** The Fullbringers use a similar technique called Light Bringer.
** The Quincys' ability to use Hirenkyaku.
** Ninjas' Body Flicker Technique.
** Kuma can do something like this by propelling himself with his Paw Paw powers.
** CP-9's Shave technique.
** Luffy's speed in Second Gear.
* FollowTheChaos: Katsuyu says how to find Sakura in the Battle of Worth Woodsea by telling the ones looking for her to simply follow the path of wanton destruction.
* FriendlyEnemy: Luffy and Bazz-B actually get along very well and consider each other friends despite being on opposite sides and fighting to kill each other.
** [[spoiler: The same also applies with Itachi, who Luffy has great respect and vice versa as the two gave it their all when they fought.]]
* FromBadToWorse: The First Battle of Hargeon, without a doubt.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tropes G - L]]
* GentleGiant: Yasutora "Chad" Sado, Sajin Komamura, Hachigen Ushoda, Elfman Strauss, Gildarts Clive, Makarov Dreyar (when he's not pissed off), Jugo (when not in ax-crazy mode), Choji Akimichi, Choza Akimichi, Franky, Brook...
* GoodColorsEvilColors: The Alliance wears blue and the Coalition wears red.
* GoodCopBadCop: Hana Inuzuka and Nanao Ise had to use this routine against Yukio Hans Vorarlberna during the Battle of Red Willow.
* GoodIsNotNice: The case for quite a few members of the Alliance, the strongest cases being pirates like Eustass Kidd. They may be part of the Alliance, but they're still bloodthirsty criminals.
* GoOutWithASmile:
** [[spoiler: Atsui]] does, knowing he was able to protect his sister.
** [[spoiler: Urouge]] does so, knowing he stuck to his faith until the end.
* GreenThumb: Azuma, Zetsu, Yamato, Usopp.
* GrewBeyondTheirProgramming: Nemu Kurotsuchi, to an extent, in chapter 100 of the second installment. She realizes that she now has a sense of self-preservation, which she was not "programmed" with (being an artificial being). She briefly wonders if she should ask her father about it, but her new sense of self-preservation tells her that is a very bad idea.
* GunsVsSwords: Soul reapers have swords, many of the Marines and pirates have guns (and swords, depending)... it's bound to happen.
* [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe Half The Girl She Used To Be]]: Momo Hinamori, thanks to [[spoiler:Shamon's]] chakra strings. Miraculously, she didn't die.
* HarmlessFreezing: Mashiro Kuna gets frozen completely and Sasuke gets his leg frozen during the Second Battle of Hargeon, but both are almost perfectly okay after being freed.
* HavingABlast: The Coalition Bomb Squad: Jackal, Deidara, Mr. 5, Bambietta Basterbine, Gladius, and Gari; also Azuma who could make explosions with his plants.
* HeroicBSOD: Kagura Mikazuchi enters one after [[spoiler:her blade Archenemy is destroyed.]]
** Then Natsu [[spoiler: when he learns of his true origins. Thankfully Luffy snaps him out of it.]]
* HeroicSacrifice:
** [[spoiler:Atsui]] makes one to save to his sister from Zeref's death magic.
** [[spoiler:Sabo]] ''almost'' makes one, but thankfully [[spoiler:Chitsujo]] intervenes.
* HeroWorshipper: True to form, Bartolomeo begins to hero-worship all Four Acts of Order in addition to Luffy.
* HiddenDepths:
** The normally meek and unremarkable [[spoiler:Shiho]] is more than just a bureaucrat/desk jockey/pencil pusher; when [[spoiler:she]] chooses to apply [[spoiler:herself]], [[spoiler: she's]] actually capable of being a master detective (comparable to the caliber of Holmes, Poirot, Marple, and Nancy Drew). [[spoiler:This is clearly demonstrated by her decisive victory over Treasury Minister Vitai (the mole/traitor who was covertly assisting the Rakuen Tax Collectors) during their cat-and-mouse game of accusations and counterarguments.]] See "I Never Said It Was Poison" for more details.
** Also, during [[spoiler:Shiho's described backstory]], [[spoiler:she]] also revealed herself to be a [[spoiler:former master thief/infiltrator]], mainly specializing in [[spoiler: stealing desserts. In an attempt to steal Mito Uzumaki's legendary almond cookie recipe, Shiho got more than she bargained for: the entire Scroll of Sealing that Naruto had previously stolen. Shiho (being far more literate than Naruto) was traumatized from her reading of the various forbidden technique instructions (having also read on the atrocities and war crimes that resulted from those forbidden techniques), and after reflecting on how selfish her thieving ways were, she decided to atone by becoming the bookworm cryptographer we readers know and love today.]]
** Baraggan Louisenbairn, of all people. He actually holds his Fraccion in deep regard. Thus when they are defeated, he's more angry about the blow to his pride than the defeat.
** ''Wendy Marvell.'' While arguably one of the weaker dragon slayers, Chitsujo reveals that thanks to being the Sky Dragon Slayer she has the potential to be the strongest slayer- even stronger than ''Natsu'' (who is one of Chitsujo's ''Acts of Order'').
* HonoraryTrueCompanion: After a heart-to-heart with Naruto, Erza declares him to be an honorary member of Fairy Tail.
* HonorBeforeReason:
** Grimmjow Jaegarjaquez sets some debris on fire so Natsu can eat it to regain strength, claiming he only wants to fight him at his best.
** Though she isn't a good match for the fight, Kakashi allows Mirajane Strauss to join the task force being sent against Admiral Kizaru, understanding it's something she has to do.
** The reason why Ikkaku Madarame doesn't use his Bankai against Kumadori during their fight. There are too many witnesses and he still wants to keep it a secret. He's also pissed that [[spoiler:Meredy]] doesn't let him finish said fight even though he's injured.
* HowDoIShotWeb: When Natsu begins his [[spoiler:Sage training]], he quickly realizes he has absolutely no idea how to harness the power.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl:
** Kenpachi and Yachiru.
** Gajeel and Levy.
* HypocriticalHumor:
** Hiyori Sarugaki yelling at her squadmates to act more stoic, when she herself is causing a ruckus.
** Konton commenting on the arrogance of some people with absolutely ''no'' irony.
* ICanStillFight:
** Natsu when Kakashi interrupts his fight with Rob Lucci in the prologue. Kakashi manages to get him to back down though.
** Ikkaku when [[spoiler:Meredy]] cuts in on his fight with Kumadori. She actually has to knock him out to get him to stop.
** Gajeel in the Battle of Kunugi Town after [[spoiler:getting his arms blown off by Gladius.]] Despite protests from Patherlily, Levy Mcgarden, and Hiashi Hyuuga, he runs off to find a new opponent.
* IdiotHero: Luffy, Naruto, and Natsu. Ichigo avoids this because he's arguably the most intelligent of the Acts.
* IgnoredEnemy: Dordoni on several occasions.
* ImagineSpot:
** Hinata has one about teaching Naruto manners after Levy tells her it's women's job to teach men.
** Riruka Dokugamine has one where she imagines making the Four Acts of Order her reverse harem.
** Tenten has one where she imagines what would happen if Sugarboy met Guy and Lee. It promptly freaks her out.
** Bartolomeo will often imagine himself being encouraged by or invited to join the Four Acts of Order.
** Isshin Kurosaki, after vowing not to die in this battle, has one of his daughters telling him what a deadbeat he is for leaving them in the hands of his delinquent son.
** Chelia Blendy has a romantic one of Lyon encouraging her.
* [[HesitantSacrifice I'm Too Young to Die!:]] Chelia Blendy shouts this when she's caught in Kidomaru's web and he summons a giant spider to eat her and Mashiro Kuna.
* INeedAFreakingDrink: Tsunade's reaction after being visited by Chitsujo's emissary in the prologue.
* INeverSaidItWasPoison: How the Dance Powder Investigation Team traps the mole. When they catch him with forged documents as evidence, he reasons that Zetsu could have replaced him or Konan could have manipulated the paper. It seems that he has a point... until Shiho points out Konan has not been confirmed to have been resurrected by or has even been seen with the Coalition. The mole wouldn't know Konan was alive again for sure unless he had dealt with the Coalition himself.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Mavis in chapter 22 of the second installment, after Kisuke has been mistaken for a hobo by Kagura:
-->'''Mavis''': She didn't mean that, Kisuke, you're not homeless. I'm sure you dress that horribly by choice.
-->''Kisuke gets even more depressed.''
-->'''Mavis''': I'm sure you own a big, big mansion, that wouldn't make you homeless, right?
-->'''Kisuke (sobbing)''': I own a run run-down shop!
* IntangibleMan:
** Any of the logia devil fruit users. Sabo is an especially good example, because it pretty much guaranteed his win against Bambietta Basterbine.
** Kakashi when using his Mangekyo Sharingan.
** Juvia is a female example with her Water Body.
** Suigetsu and Mangetsu Hozuki when they use their Water Bodies.
* InsistentTerminology: Save Ichigo, the Four Acts of Order seem hell-bent on referring to Tsunade as "granny", much to her annoyance.
** Toshiro Hitsugaya still insists on being called "Captain."
** The Tontatta still insist on referring to Robin as "Robiland", and the same probably applies to the rest of the crew. Though, this insistent naming now extends to people they like- they've started calling Anko Mitarashi "Ankoland."
* IntercontinuityCrossover: With One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail, and Naruto getting in on the action? Heck yes.
* JustInTime: [[spoiler:Lord Chitsujo]] pulls one off at the end of the Battle of Clover Town, much to the army's (and the readers') relief.
* JustOneMan: Grunts from the Coalition will say this when facing a prominent member of the Alliance (or vice-verse), only to get curbstomped.
* KarmaHoudini: Essentially, the Kakō technique allows higher-up members of the Coalition to become this. If they find themselves on the losing end of a fight, they basically summon themselves back to Coalition HQ to avoid Alliance punishment.
* KillTheOnesYouLove: Lord Chitsujo still loves his brother despite everything he's done. But he admits when the time comes, he will harden his heart and kill him.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: The higher-ups of the Coalition are good at knowing when to fight and when to cut and run. A specific example is Sasori choosing not to continue to fight at the end of the Battle of Kunugi Town.
* KnuckleCracking: Naruto, Luffy, and Natsu all have a habit of doing this.
** At one point during their fight, Naruto does this in front of Smoker and Smoker immediately imagines Luffy standing there as opposed to the ninja.
* LaughingMad: Ms. Valentine is shaping out to be this in chapter 95 of the second installment.
** Is confirmed to be this in chapter 102, and for a [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil horrible, horrible reason...]]
* LeaveHimToMe: A prominent member of either army will say this to their underlings when faced with a powerful opponent.
* LeeroyJenkins: Luffy runs off when nobody is looking during the Battle of Clover Town with the clear intention of entering the battle. He is soon joined by Gajeel Redfox, Pantherlily, and Rogue Cheney.
* LeftForDead: Some characters after they're beaten, like Chojuro, Izumo Kamikuzi, and Kotetsu Hagane at different points. The aforementioned examples are okay though.
* LetMeTellYouAStory: Naruto does this to Smoker in chapter 40 of the second installment (the story in question being about Nagato trying to create peace} when explaining exactly why the World Government's methods sucked.
* LikeFatherUnlikeSon: Luffy and Dragon are the best example of this (in the intelligence/personality sense, anyway). Hiashi Hyuuga even comments that he still can't believe they are related.
* [[LukeIAmYourFather Natsu, I Am Your Brother]]: The story takes place before the war with Alvarez Empire for the Fairy Tail characters, so Natsu still doesn't know Zeref is his big brother. [[spoiler: He eventually learns the truth during the Tenrou Island arc.]]
* LogicalWeakness: One for Kakashi's Susanoo in chapter 33 of the second installment. When Kakashi puts it up against Kizaru, Kizaru is still able to bypass it. This is because Kizaru is made of light. [[ShownTheirWork Light has to be able to enter the Susanoo, or Kakashi would be blind.]]
* LosingYourHead:
** Hidan gets decapitated by Izuru Kira. Of course, this being Hidan, it barely phases him.
** Nullpudding gets his head cut off by Renji Abarai.
** Fuguki Suikazan gets decapitated by Mangetsu Hozuki [[spoiler:in the Mercurius prison.]]
** Franmalth lost his head to [[spoiler:Sasuke Uchiha]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tropes M - R]]
* MadArtist: Sasori and Deidara.
* MadeOfIron: It is freaking ridiculous how much damage the characters can take sometimes. Then again, they are ''anime'' characters so it is to be expected.
** For example, [[spoiler: Momo Hinamori]] gets ''cut in half'' and is still alive.
* MadScientist: Orochimaru, Caesar Clown, Szayelaporro Granz, Mayuri Kurotsuchi.
* MageMarksman:
** The Quincies with their reshi bows.
** Alzack and Bisca Connell, who are both actual mages and marksmen.
* MagicalEye: Sharingan, Byakugan, Rinnegan, Bickslow's Figure Eyes, Evergreen's Stone Eyes.
* MagneticHero: A quality Naruto, Ichigo, Natsu, and Luffy all share as the Four Acts of Order.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Gajeel in chapters 88 and 89. He demands to be allowed to keep fighting despite the fact [[spoiler: he's missing BOTH HIS ARMS]], saying it doesn't matter.
* MakingASplash: Juvia Lockser, Suigetsu Hozuki, Mangetsu Hozuki, certain Fishmen, any users of Water Style Jutsu...
* ManEatingPlant: To a degree, Black/White Zetsu.
* MarshmallowHell: Naruto and Mei Terumi in the prologue.
* MaskPower: The Vizards.
* MeaningfulName:
** Lord Chitsujo and Lord Konton. Their names literally mean "Order" and "Chaos."
** This also applies to most members of Konton's elite Nine Dark Circles, with each being a rough translation of their title.
*** Midarana (2nd Circle of Lust) means "Lewd".
*** Ōkui (3rd Circle of Gluttony) means "Gluttony".
*** Yoku (4th Circle of Greed) means "Greed/Want".
*** Gekidō (5th Circle of Wrath) means "Loose the temper".
*** Itan (6th Circle of Heresy) means "Heresy".
*** Bōryoku (7th Circle of Violence) means "Violence".
*** Sagi (8th Circle of Fraud) means "Scam/fraud".
*** Uragiri (9th Circle of Treachery) means "Betrayal".
** More disturbingly, Konton's Kingdom is named Rakuen, which translates to "Paradise".
** The Mod Soul Squadron may have these. Jamba has the ability to morph matter, and one of the things he creates is juice. Mary has mirror powers, and there is a mirror game called Scary Mary.
* MindWipe: [[spoiler:Inoichi Yamanaka]] asks Lord Chitsujo if he can perform a forbidden technique to wipe every one of Ms. Valentines' memories in order to help her. Given [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil what he found there]], Chitsujo gives the okay provided Ms. Valentines wants it.
* MonstrosityEqualsWeakness: Jerome Guizbatt, after using his Vollständig, grows more monstrous, but loses his intelligence. He's still a threat, but it becomes marginally easier to fight him.
* MoodWhiplash: ''Is there ever.'' The story can go from humorous to serious to humorous at the drop of a hat. Not that anyone minds.
** For example, at the end of the Battle of Red Willow. It starts out as a happy victory, only for it to become dramatic when it's revealed what happened to [[spoiler: Yugito Nii]].
* MookChivalry: It happens, such as two mooks in the Alliance insisting on coming to Yumichika's aid against Yomazu and Kawazu.
* MundaneUtility: When shown the Byakugan, one of the most powerful kekkei genkai the Leaf has to offer, Luffy has Hinata use it to see how many fingers he has behind his back.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Mirajane when she comes to after the First Battle of Hargeon once it sinks in she had to [[spoiler: leave Toshiro Hitsugaya and Kensei Muguruma behind]].
* NeckLift: Mangetsu angrily does this to Kagura at the end of their fight.
* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: Characters from the Fairy Tail and Naruto Worlds getting Haki, a character from the Fairy Tail world getting Sage Mode... it's only to going to get better from here.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Vice Admiral Dalmatian's use of Six Powers against Kakashi is what allows the latter to fully master Finger Pistol, since he was able to better copy it with Sharing.
** Also, during the Dance Powder Investigation Arc, [[spoiler: Toragashira's]] decision to frame [[spoiler: Mattan Ginger]] inadvertently leads to [[spoiler: Haredas finally being able to nullify Dance Powder.]]
* NinjaLog: Used often by the ninja characters for the Replacement Jutsu.
** Lampshaded by Makarov in chapter 92 of the second installment, who wonders where the log came from when Darui uses the jutsu. They're in the middle of a city with no trees or conveniently cut logs around.
** Lampshaded again in chapter 120 of the second installment by [[spoiler:Gin Ichimaru]] during his fight with Sasuke. He wonders where it came from.
* NobodyTouchesTheHair:
** Yumichika and Cavendish completely lose it when Mangetsu ruins their hair with water.
** Brook to an extent, considering his afro is the only thing that will allow Laboon to recognize him.
** Toritsubasa is so protective of his hair that Anko almost burning it is enough to make him fight her.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Sherry Blendy gives one to Eve Tearm after he tells her [[spoiler:her fiance Ren Akatsuki is dead]]. He doesn't try to stop her and it only ends when Kiba Inuzuka intervenes.
** Shunsui let civilians do this to him in penance for some of the army having to kill their friends and family members as Giselle's zombies. Thankfully Gildarts and Kenpachi stepped in and stopped them from taking it too far.
* NoOneCouldSurviveThat: Far, far too many to list, but one example is Ichigo taking a direct hit from Bartholomew Kuma's Ursus Shock, and another is Luffy getting blown up by [[spoiler:Jackal's Explosion Curse.]]
* NonuniformUniform: The author has stated that many of the uniforms worn by the Alliance members are simply blue versions of their usual outfits.
* NoseBleed: On multiple occasions by some of the more perverted characters.
* NoSell:
** When Ino Yamanaka tries to use a chakra-infused punch on Satori. He absorbs the force with an Impact Dial and sends it back at her.
** When Kakuzu tries to use Lightning Style Jutsu on Luffy. Goes about as well as expected.
** Makarov when he tries to use Fairy Law- it simply vanishes. [[spoiler: It is revealed that Jose Portla absorbed it with his new devil fruit abilities.]]
** Cana when she tries to use Fairy Glitter against Baraggan. The latter just ages the magic into nothingness.
* NoSenseOfDirection: Roronoa Zoro, Zaraki Kenpachi, and Yachiru Kusajishi. They even manage to all get lost ''together'' during the Battle of Worth Woodsea.
** It is revealed during the Battle of Anemone Plains that Sakura has taken the extra measure of guiding Zoro around on a ''leash'' to make sure he doesn't wander off again.
* NotBloodSiblings: Sabo and Luffy.
** Naruto refers to Yugito Nii as his "jinchuriki sister."
** Some characters have referred to the Four Acts of Order as "brothers."
* NotDistractedByTheSexy:
** Sasuke Uchiha, who flat-out says that he holds no interest in Boa Hancock's beauty. The only thing he desires is redemption.
** Franmalth resists due to his filthy desires having nothing to do with her.
** Actually, there are starting to be a number of characters immune to her beauty.
* NotQuiteSavedEnough: Naruto entered the mental plain, fought tooth and nail against a projection of Konton, and his comrades meanwhile were thrown left and right by a giant demon cat, and in the end [[spoiler:Yugito Nii is left in a coma.]]
* NumberTwo: The division commanders have a "proxy" to act in their place should they be indisposed.
** 1st Division- Shusui Kyoraku is commander, and his proxy is Gildarts Clive.
** 2nd Division- Sabo is commander, and his proxy is Marco the Phoenix.
** 3rd Division- Kakashi Hatake is commander, and his proxy is Jushiro Ukitake.
** 4th Division- Byakuya Kuchiki is commander, and his proxy is Shikamaru Nara.
** 5th Division- Jellal Fernandez is commander, and his proxy is Shinji Hirako.
* OffscreenAfterlife: The Styx, which is a realm where all the dead souls from the five worlds go. Chitsujo and Konton are able to fish around the Styx for dead souls they can revive for back up.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: Natsu and Gray apparently had a great spar with Suigetsu and Jugo in chapter 23 of the second installment. The reader only gets to see the aftermath of it with the two wizards arguing about who got in whose way.
* [[BonusMaterial Omake]]: The author sometimes puts these at the end of chapters. They range from Kizaru trying to pronounce his new attack right, to the author and his beta tormenting the characters with the [[WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged pecking order]], to the Four Acts playing video games.
* OneWingedAngel:
** The Tailed Beast forms of the Jinchuriki.
** The Quincys' Vollständig forms.
** The Arrancars' Resurrección forms.
** Take Over Magic from the Fairy Tail world.
* OnlyAFleshWound: Gajeel's attitude towards the fact [[spoiler:both his arms got blown off.]] He still wants to fight.
* OnlySaneMan:
** Benn Beckman certainly feels that way, having to deal with Kisuke, Mavis, and Shikaku's insanity all day.
** Ino and Nami both see themselves as this amongst their peers.
* OneManArmy: Hiashi Hyuuga describes Luffy as such as the latter goes barreling through enemy after enemy. He wonders in deadpan if he and the others even need to be there.
* OneSteveLimit: Given the large cast, some names do overlap. One example is Sai from Naruto and Don Sai from One Piece. Another is Fukuro the CP-9 agent and Fukuro the Trinity Raven wizard.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness:
** Luffy shocks his entire crew by admitting he's willing to follow Shank's plan despite his normal refusal to follow others. The fact that losing to the Coalition could mean the end of his way of life (being a pirate) is reason enough for him to follow someone else.
** Ichigo at the beginning of chapter 21 of the second installment. Chad finds him sitting down and meditating, which is serious because Ichigo is the "charge head-on and learn as you go" type.
* OpponentSwitch: Baki and Rojuro Otoribashi do this in the Battle of the Aster Mountains.
* OutOfSightOutOfMind: Kuma does this to Kenpachi, Might Guy, and Rock Lee with his Paw Paw powers in order to keep them from interfering with his fight with Ichigo.
* ParentalAbandonment: It is revealed in-story that this was the case for Yugito Nii, whose mother abandoned her because she no longer believed Yugito and Matatabi weren't one and the same.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Yachiru Kusajishi. When she flares her spiritual pressure during the fight with Kuma and the Pacifistas, Ichigo realizes just how powerful she is and reprimands himself for thinking she could be anything less- she's lieutenant of Squad 11 and Kenpachi wouldn't give her that position out of nepotism.
* PlayingWithFire: Momo Hinamori, Totomaru, Isshin Kurosaki, Bazz-B, Marco the Phoenix, Sabo, Sanji with his Diable Jambe, Luffy's Red Hawk, ninjas who can use Fire Style Jutsu, Natsu Dragneel, Flare Corona, Zancrow, Macao Conbolt, Romeo Conbolt.
* PlotArmor: Some characters have it, especially the Four Acts, but given the author's "anyone can die" rule it might not last long.
* PoisonedWeapons: Many of the ninja characters use these, such as Sasori and [[spoiler:Shamon]].
* PrehensileHair: Kumadori and Flare Corona.
* PrisonEpisode: The Mercurius Prison Break Arc.
* PublicExecution: What the Coalition wants to do to the Four Acts of Order so they can demoralize the Alliance.
* PsychoElectro: Candice Catnipp of the Sternritter. She loves frying people and showing off her power way too much to not be.
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: The Bomb Squad during the Battle of Kunugi can count as this. The Second Division has to beat them before they can hit the main forces in the city.
* RainOfArrows: Boa Hancock has the Kuja Pirates do this to the Marines during the First Battle of Hargeon.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: Every single commander on both sides proves this again and again. A very good example is the four Intelligence Commanders' fights during the Mercurius Prison Break.
* Really700YearsOld:
** The soul reapers, naturally. There's actually a very funny moment between Shinji Hirako and Lucy Heartfilia where the latter realizes just how ''old'' Shinji is and freaks out because he was flirting with her.
** Zeref, who looks young but is well over 400 years old.
** Any of the Dragon Slayers (except Laxus Dreyar and Cobra) given revelations in the actual manga.
** Mavis Vermillion, while looking like a little girl is actually 24 years older than Makarov.
* RedShirtArmy: The author, besides the canon characters, has many OCs (referred to by this trope name) to fill in the gaps in both armies and die if need be.
* RescueRomance: There might be one starting between Ino and Usopp, starting during the Battle of Mount Hakobe, but the author has admitted he doesn't know if it's permanent or not yet.
* RetCon: Some chapters were written before certain pieces of information were released and events occurred in the mangas, so some scenes become false or redundant. The author's solution to this seems to be simply either ignoring what was said in the past and revealing the new information in-story, or making it so the story happens for certain character groups before new arcs.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tropes S - Z]]
* SadisticChoice: Kizaru does this to Mirajane towards the end of the First Battle of Hargeon. He'll let her escape, but with only two of the four comrades with her seeing that is all she can carry in her injured state.
* SandInMyEyes: Gajeel pulls this excuse to deny the fact he's crying of joy and relief after [[spoiler:Luffy defeats Jose]].
* SaveTheVillain: The protagonists sometimes do this for Coalition soldiers when they are in the path of one of their superiors' attacks. After all, they don't deserve to die just because their commanding officer is an asshole.
* ScrewDestiny: The attitude Hinata has seemed to have taken. She tells Renji there is no such thing as fate, only choice. (Not surprising, given how the idea destiny messed up her cousin.)
* SeenItAll: After hearing Erza Knightwalker is from another universe within the Fairy Tail universe, Shinji Hirako declares dully that at this point, nothing surprises him anymore.
* SelfDuplication: Naruto's Shadow Clone Jutsu.
* ShipperOnDeck: Sabo for Renji and Flare, as it would appear.
* ShipTease: A few, such as Roronoa Zoro/Kagura Mikazuchi and Renji Abarai/Flare Corona.
** Renji/Flare somewhat confirmed in chapter 95 of the second installment.

** Chapter titles also contain shout outs:
*** Chapter 19 of the second installment is titled "Series/TheWalkingDead."
*** Chapter 51 of the second installment is titled "Thriller Bark Reprise". This is both a shout out to the One Piece arc of the same name, and the "reprise" part is a nod to the fact the island itself was named after the song "Thriller."
*** Chapter 70 of the second installment is titled "[[Franchise/AttackOnTitan Attack on Admiral.]]"
*** Chapter 82 of the second installment is titled "Death To Tyrants", a reference to the infamous quote John Wilkes Booth shouted after assassinating Lincoln.
*** Chapter 100 of the second installment is titled "Dance With the Devil." According to the author, it is a reference to two things: the first being the Breaking Benjamin song of the same name, and the second being the famous line said by the Joker in the 1989 Batman film.

** When Sakura points that like the other Acts of Order Ichigo doesn't think too much, Ichigo tells her- barring "that ramen-loving fishcake"- not to compare him to Natsu and Luffy. He's their friend but they're not the brightest bulbs in the drawer. The scene cuts briefly to Natsu and Luffy sneezing.

** Hiashi does this when he thinks he's about to die, apologizing to his daughters and clan. He survives though.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: In the sense that many characters that have previously died have been brought back to life for the war effort on both sides.

* TheDreaded:
** Bartholomew Kuma for those of the pirate world, undoubtedly.

** Luffy delivers an ''extremely'' satisfying one to Jose in chapter 94 of the second installment. The author even refers to this trope by name.
